Why are all these older losses still pending?  Has this address figured out how to block losses from appearing in the block chain, or is there a bug?

All good questions.  None of which I'm able to answer.

I looked at the history of that address on the satoshidice site:
  http://www.satoshidice.com/lookup.php?tx=18pEcNu&limit=2000&min_bet=0&status=ALL

I tried to see the last 2000 bets from that address but the site only lets me see 1000 bets.

Of those 1000 bets, 660 are "unknown" and only 340 are "confirmed".  The breakdown is as follows:

unknown: (660 bets, stake 5275.0, return 3367.47381977, profit -1907.52618023)
confirmed: (340 bets, stake 2727.55, return 2946.78077572, profit 219.23077572)

So it is indeed the case that the cancelled bets were net losers, and the confirmed bets were net winners.  What's not clear is whether that's by accident or by design.  It certainly is interesting though.

It doesn't really mater coz SD has no memory. It's the same as he has never made those bets.

EDIT: I think I got u idea:

1. Bet 1 BTC.
2. If u win move to 1.
3. If u lose send the same coins (double-spend attack) to ur other address. If this tx is included into the blockchain then u will lose nothing.

This idea's been around for months.  I've certainly posted about it before.  I just don't know how workable it really is.  My client won't send out a double-spend transaction, and even if I force it, the network won't accept it.  Assuming SD is well connected to the bitcoin network, and that the rebroadcast all incoming bets before telling the bettor whether they've won or not, almost the whole network will see the bet before the double-spend attempt, and will reject the double-spend attempt.  Unless I've pre-mined a block which spends the bet to myself I don't see how I can 'cancel' my losing bets.  And that's hard to do.

I looked at the biggest one, with the payout of 320.01518000.  It's http://satoshidice.com/full.php?tx=4ab33817fa25f8e1fb3c783009f2411f96a15086d47354893c61d9c53d3fb137

The bet tx is http://blockchain.info/tx-index/35187069 and has (as of now) 59 confirmations.  There's no way that's going to disappear:



The outputs shown as 'spent' are the ones that have been paid out, and the 'unspent' ones are stuck for some reason.

I'm currently seeing 855.9465 BTC worth of bets which haven't been paid out yet, with their pending payouts totalling 3839.90678494 BTC, for a net loss to the site of 2983.96028494 BTC.

That would put the site's overall profits after fees at around the 17000 BTC mark.

A close up of recent activity.  The large swing up to 21k and corresponding large swing back down to 16.5k were, I think, caused by a shortfall of available funds in the SDICE wallet.  Without available funds wins can't be paid out but losses can, which makes it look like SDICE is winning a lot.  Then when funds become available, the pending wins get paid out, which makes it look like SDICE lost a lot.  In truth real profits were pretty flat.  I think the swing up to 18.5k from 16.5k may be another false profit, since there are a lot of big wins still pending payout.  See http://www.satoshidice.com/lookup.php?tx=&limit=250&min_bet=10&status=UNKNOWN for a list.  At the time of writing, there are bets of 1865 BTC with unpaid winnings of 6796.37997332 making a net liability of 4931.37997332 for SDICE to pay out on.  Once paid, the overall profit for SDICE will be around 13700 BTC.
