Yup, $9.5 mil bids (record) with 53k BTC in asks (relatively low).  Takeoff is approaching.
It's frightening how much money people entrust gox with.

But if you think about it, our banks are not that more trustworthy, they can easily lose what equals to all the fiats stored on Gox in just one single trade, yet many of us put our life's saving there.

agreed.  they also have handled the bitcoinica situation as poorly as possible.  they are content to sit on all our assets, as well.

Banks told to raise more capital by Bank of England

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-21948429

If the intention behind the timing of this is to increase savers' confidence in British banks I suspect it might have the opposite effect of bringing to people's awareness that British banks may not be as safe as they think they area - and that that the Gov't might next time (given the example of Cyprus) not be as willing to throw public money at them whilst they hold huge amounts in deposits.

I hope QT 1.0 comes along fairly shortly because I fear the volumes Bitcoin may soon need to be dealing with especially if the values it represents show the numbers of people ignoring the official 'this is still experimental' line.

People are foolishly waiting for btc to correct. It is pretty clear this wont happen for a long long time...

+1

BTW, isn't it the middle of the night in the US ATM? We keep hitting all-time highs. Should bode well for the next 24h.

The most important thing when you consider the price is to keep wishful thinkings away.

Wishful thinking 1: The price will go to the moon in one shot, not possible, as everyone cannot all be a millionaire overnight.

Wishful thinking 2: The price will plunge back to single digits so I can buy thousands, not possible also, as everyone wants to buy low but the supply is limited.

So I think the most possible scenario is the price will stay relatively high (between $70-$150 for example) and rise slowly for years, not high enough to make small time holders rich, but not cheap enough to be considered easily affordable also.
