yeah but more w/GH than any other manufacturer is a quantity which just won't sellCheesy

not at all, just making an observation. fanboys and bum-buggerers will always be fanboys and bum-buggerers.
there are better spec chips out there.

I'm neither a fanboy nor a "bum-buggerer" and have been extremely critical of AM in the past. I also didn't say that they've got the best chip out there, I pointed out that your claim that everyone else has better chips was simply nonsense.

I said nothing of the sort.

Seems legit.

Thanks for giving us the "facts"

the facts are AM chips are 3rd rate.. something that will soon be in rigs that will shortly be powered down - right out of the gate.

I agree. AM Gen3 chips are very average considering all the other options on the market right now.

The Rockminer uses around 1.2W/GH and costs $89 for 37GH! Obviously, this product isn't for serious miners, but that power efficiency is pretty poor considering all the hype around AM Gen3.

0.554 J/Gh at 11.52 Gh/s is not 3rd rate at all. That's why you refuse to back up such claims with actual facts - because the facts will show that you're talking out your arse. For example, Spondoolies chip consumes 0.58 J/Gh at 7.5 Gh/s.

you are comparing a spec on chip alone to a spec within a working miner. please, continue to delude yourself.

Honestly, I don't personally care that gen 3 is about average, or "3rd rate." According to the numbers that have been released, AM has already sold enough of these to give us some sweet dividends over the next three months. Enough that, at this current price, I'd be perfectly content if that ended up being *all* they sold from this generation.

Chip specs are really only relevant for prospective buyers. AM has already got enough sales to more than justify their current share price, IMO.

Nope, they're both specs for the ASICs, not miners.

In other words - 0.45 J/GH when underclocked.

Based on this post, the ASICMiner Gen3 chips are around 1W/GH, which is nothing special. The pricing is barely competitive with current Bitmain, Coincraft clone, and Spondoolies-Tech offerings. If this is what current shareholders were banking on to lift the share price, I think you better take off the rose colored glasses and think again.

That's not for the chip, that's for the whole miner. The miner isn't an AM product, only the chips are and if people are making miners, they've already bought the chips.

Imo AM just has "bullet proof" working average chips... but in mass quantity! ^^

very average, considering other options on the market.

dont mean to offend FC but chineese dont aim top notch handcrafted quality. they aim quantity. and thats perfectly fine imho ...

Dammit. I don't want any substandard bitcoin in my wallet I don't care how much of it is. Roll Eyes

BTW, has the bitfury 2-generation chip been out as the real product ,and 0.45J/g has been tested or not ?
I can't find the information.

Thank you . In power consumption, Bitfury is nearly 20% better than AM. But when it comes to rated hashrate , bitfury is 3.8g per chip , but the AM is more than 10g per chip, so AM's chip is more cheaper than bitfury's .

Did you see those "up to" in the marketing?

Rockxie's test was running at at 11.52 Gh/s using 0.72V and consuming 0.554 J/Gh. The recommended voltage range is between 0.55V and 1V. It'll be interesting to see AM's power consumption and hashrates at those voltages.

I'm willing to bet that AM's chip consumes less power at 0.55V than BitFury's while still having a greater hashrate than 3.8 Gh/s.

Another company using AM's Gen3 chip:

LightningASIC (link)

That puts the count at three, with RockMiner and HashRatio being the other two.
