1001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ICO] DDF - Digital Developers Fund: Profit From Digital Assets on: July 07, 2017, 09:11:00 PM
I must say this is a project to behold but would want to ask in simple terms what the project is to achieve or seeks to achieve. I read throught the OP but its seems not clear to me. Any response would be appreciated not necessarily from the admin alone here.
1002  Economy / Economics / Re: Will Bitcoin 'save' Greece? on: July 07, 2017, 11:35:26 AM
Huh
What is your opinion about Bitcoin & Greece

The issue of of Greece has really gone to the head with several experts and policies failed to sort out the issue which has been ravaging them for long which is why I am of the school of thought that another alternative should be explored although I don't know how bitcoin will be of help but if that's is the only alternative to put this issue to rest, then there is no harm in trying whatsoever.
1003  Economy / Economics / Re: In event of your death on: July 07, 2017, 06:04:00 AM
This is something I haven't really given a thought but reading at several replies to this thread gave a feeling of start making plans towards something like that because no actually knows except someone having a terminal disease couple with several ways to die that abounds without any notice. I guess trusting someone is just the key to all this that without it nothing can actually be done.
1004  Economy / Economics / Re: Wall Street's Migration To Crypto Continues: Former Bain Manager Opens LatAm Bit on: July 07, 2017, 05:41:11 AM
Its finally happening that the same set of people that initially thought the ones in bitcoin early would soon wake up from their dreams are actually the ones coming to join. It points into one direction which is nothing but the fact that bitcoin is here to stay any on the side line should either fall in or be lost in the growth and development process of the next thing to change the way financial system works all around the world.
1005  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and bad scenarios on: July 06, 2017, 10:31:13 PM
Everyone's talking about bitcoin being godlike and all good, but is there some downside to it, excluding the funding of terrorism and whatnot, but as the deisik said:
Quote
Though in a somewhat different context. Just earlier today I explained why Bitcoin can be used as an economic weapon of mass destruction. Since that explanation was made in another language, I think I can repeat it here. Countries with rogue or just incompetent governments may fall victim to a Bitcoin "attack", so to speak. In these countries population heavily suffers from constant currency devaluations (e.g. Zimbabwe in the past or Venezuela right now), so with Bitcoin they can completely abandon their low paid jobs and make a living entirely off Bitcoin. From an economic point of view, that would work as a reversed inflation tax. With a direct inflation tax, it is the population that suffers most from currency devaluation, but when we reverse this tax, it is the government that now gets hit by it. Thus Bitcoin can be used by powerful nations (say, the US) to ruin weak governments from inside entirely via economic measures without violence or blood (unless authorities start prosecuting people for using Bitcoin, of course)

Some scenarios like this, where bitcoin can destroy one's economy or something similar. Theories.

The assertion might be right quite well but where I see the fault is the assumption of a government of the weaker country that is so weak and the US will just take over. Aside that US will not just come and take over any country they won't have any interest which mostly  will be oil and for a country as that, I see them having a controlling force over their citizen which in actual sense makes this assertion all wrong.
1006  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin in Economics class? on: July 06, 2017, 06:07:32 PM

Do you think they are talking about bitcoin in your basic ECON class?

In other countries they might be talking about it but definitely not my country that I am very sure of because teaching about bitcoin in an economics class up to higher institutions will mean a review the curriculum which is not something that is being done in a short while considering the fact that discussions about bitcoin has not gotten to a high level here.
1007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is litecoin one of the best investment on the market? on: July 06, 2017, 05:20:28 PM
litecoin has a great roadmap it will get all the best tech and could have merchant adoption all before bitcoin no?
litecoin has already improved compare to a lot of coins and also bitcoin
the governance is working great with no development and miners issue
litecoin will be able to adopt new tech that will increase it,s value maybe to 500 dollars or more?if litecoin get,s merchant adoption with is api and if bitcoin splits will the market move to litecoin?

With all the features you listed here, it seems its just speculation that it will do well in the future and which is guaranteed by holding for a very long time but without considering that the increase that will happen in that longterm is not magic neither by default because people will need to see its usefulness before considering its use thereby boosting its price but unfortunately nothing is being done to promote that just speculations and counter speculations.
1008  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Gain knowledge from basic with me on: July 06, 2017, 04:05:09 PM
If you are a fast learner as you proclaim then there is nothing you want to learn about that the internet is not making available and aside that the forum is the depository of knowledge on any topic you are actually researching in addition to the fact that you get the information raw compared to what you see in various websites and blogs who are much interested in traffic to their sites. All you need to is locate the right section of the forum and you good to go without any limit.
1009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin about the free world, but not for us in the Middle East! on: July 05, 2017, 08:41:08 PM
It's not so straightforward to buy bitcoin  in the Middle East. Yes, I have tried everything. If bitcoin was about the free world, why all the exchanges ask for very strict verification that even the stock exchanges don't ask for?  I have never had to take a selfie with my passport in my entire 40 yrs of life until I came in to the bitcoin world, what the heck?!! All the exchanges take ages to verify and when they do, they discriminate those from the middle east. Most of them don't allow us to use fiat currency to buy bitcoin, so how the hell new comers will buy it? The barriers of entry to the bitcoin world are too many for people in middle east, am sick of it.

I find the conventional banks much easier to deal with than  the bitcoin exchanges. Guess what? I was successfully registered in one after waiting for a month, only to be told I can't spend more than  300 Dollars a week in buying bitcoin, seriously??? I freaking have thousands of dollars to invest and they want me to spend 300 dollars a week for a coin worth $2500???

Now, the easy way is to buy from others, but I am gonna have to pay a premium of 10 to 20 pct above fair market value to buy and that's BS!

I am thinking to start my own ICO for an exchange that has commercial sense an open to the world. We need a revolution here.

What you really need to understand that for all the exchange sites to have been towards one particular cause of action means its something beyond their power and by the time you launch your own site, that's when you will realize what they are going through. The fundamental fault is not the exchange but rather the laws that regulate the actiivites of the country you found yourself which is something the exchange sites cannot do anything about. Start the revolution from your end to promote liberalism then buying bitcoin won't even be an issue.
1010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Marketing - Ideas to promote bitcoin on: July 05, 2017, 07:59:36 PM
The issue here for me is not about spreading it but about the people who wants to know about it. Hardly is there any youth where in my environment that have not heard about bitcoin but the issue is that majority don't want to learn the way it works because all they all wanted is buy at $2500 and go and sleep then wake up one day and sell at $5000 just like that. For me, I think re-orientation will work by organizing a mini-seminar in other to explain fully how it is in the crypto world.
1011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: China is going to legalize Ethereum soon. on: July 05, 2017, 06:00:54 PM
Chinese government decided to legalize ethereum in their country soon, On May 27, Huobi, one of the three leading bitcoin exchanges in China alongside BTCC and OKCoin, officially integrated support for Ethereum trading. The Huobi development team announced that users will be able to trade Ethereum starting from  May 31.
Do you think that ehtereum will cross bitcoin soon??

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/china-waking-ethereum/

This is something we have been seeing about this or that government will do this soon, but my question is "when" exactly and that's what matter or else, everything is just some form of speculation to influence price from the way I see it because it will then connotes that the price of ETH will soar soon but will then be short lived when the legalization didn't eventually happen and another news is released for everyone to talk about and forget about the news of China intending legalization of ETH.

1012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Alt-coin Massacre continues on: July 05, 2017, 12:30:47 PM
Now on its 3rd week , all we see is red color . Altcoins suffer a lot of bloody loss already and it continue to have a downward trend.

I see this as a signalling effect to the supremacy of bitcoin in the crypto world because at the time there was the crashing of the price of bitcoin, all alt took a nose dive which is explainable because of the price of bitcoin but weeks after when the price of bitcoin is recovering it seems the alt are not just responding. I guess people are being careful without knowing the direction of the price alts generally.
1013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do Altcoins really have a future? on: July 04, 2017, 06:16:39 PM
I believe Bitcoin has a future in long term. It proved itself in the past years and it is getting widely popular. It just has a transaction fee problem atm.

What about the altcoins? Who does use them for real? Will people use them in the future for real purpose?

I only have a hope for ethereum and litecoin, but not for the rest. I am not even sure for eth and ltc.

If bitcoin solves the reansaction fee and time problem, I doubt eth and ltc even have a future.
ETH and other alt coin still has a future because some of them has stand the test of time considering the number of years that they have been in existence and for them to have still be surviving up till this day is a signifying effect to that as well. Although, quite a number might not stand that long but in the case of ETH and BTC, they are running two parallel lines that I don't see one standing as a threat against the other
1014  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Waves Strategic Partnership with Deloitte on: July 04, 2017, 04:48:25 PM

It is not only for waves but for the crypto generally, Deleoitte has even in time past before now has always been on the positive with crypto and I have equally read some of their reports in support for the bkockchain technology. So I see this as more of a boost to the already impression that they have made in crypto already
1015  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Billions stolen from South Korean Bitcoin exchange on: July 04, 2017, 02:39:01 PM
Bithumb, the fourth largest Bitcoin exchange in the world was recently hacked resulting in Billions of Won being stolen.

Read more: https://blog.coinspectator.com/2017/07/04/billions-stolen-from-south-korean-bitcoin-exchange/

If this would cause the damage as being proclaimed here then everyone would have felt it because massive stealing will go along way in affecting the price of bitcoin in the market.

1,000,000,000 Won = $875,853.23 = ~330BTC

this is not even in the top 20 exchange hacks in the history of bitcoin Grin
this is more like the amount that some whales lose if they have a bad trading day...

Thank you for this analysis because using Won to judge would mean a lot of money but converting it shows that its a bucket from a pool of water and this actually give credence to the neutral effect it has on price. This amount is close to what failed ICO would raise in a case of crowd funding. But at the same time there is need for sites to be more security conscious of whatever is going around.
1016  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you give bitcoin as a wedding gift? on: July 04, 2017, 12:19:20 PM
The gift will only be relevant to someone who knows what to make use of it and in my own case hardly will I see any of my friends who qualifies to receive gift from in the case of wedding knows about bitcoin. So, what I will do and what they will prefer is just to have me convert to cash and then buy whatever they would want be to get them to make both of our lives easy.
1017  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is working fine! No change needed! on: July 04, 2017, 11:39:07 AM
Bitcoin has proven, that it is works fine, even through times of different attack modes (FUD, spam, patenting, +, XT, RV, CW etc). I don't think we have a pressure to raise the blocksize or to force the mass adaption. We don't need no SegWit to make Bitcoin great again, because it is already. Give this baby time to grow, folks.

If you ask me, there is nothing that is complete in itself without development or else with time, it will just fade away this has happened to several companies and they have faded away out of existence with the several competitors coming out with new technological advancement, bitcoin might not hold the forte for long if something is not done about the transaction time and the issue of transaction fee which has in no small way affected a lot of transactions that should have been carried out. Aside those two, every other thing is working fine.
1018  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where should i invest 45 BTC risk free on: July 04, 2017, 10:03:02 AM
I have been buying bitcoin when the price was around 400$-450$.Most of my bitcoins are bought at that price around 40 BTC and remaining at less then 600$ price.i have been holding btc in paper wallet since then and already my stash in usd is 6 times.
here is one of my tx

what i want to know is please suggest some ways to invest my bitcoin at zero risk to earn some profit.Even 0.8% to 1% profit per month is good for me but it should be risk free.i don't mind the profit percentage but risk should not be there.if you have some suggestions please post that too,if i should keep holding for more years and if yes how long should i hold?

If I am you and you live in a country like mine where there is more or less relaxing laws as regards financial matters, and ready to make a decision like this into a risk free, I would venture into real estate where I would build a big apartment then rent it out to tenants with that, I am guaranteed a reasonable income on a yearly basis and with a comprehensive insurance scheme, its more or less a risk free investment that anyone can think of.
1019  Economy / Speculation / Re: If I buy just 5 bitcoin today 2500$, Next 5 years bitcoin will be 15000$ on: July 04, 2017, 09:27:30 AM
If I buy just 5 bitcoin today 2500$, Next 5 years bitcoin will be 15000$

this is the way that I should invest or not?

This is more of speculation rather than discussion in my own opinion because you are not certain this is what will happen at the end of five years, your 5 bitcoin could even worth less than what it is now but at the same time, all factors point to the fact that your speculation might come through that there will be an increase but staying through to that word of 5 years will involve a lot commitment and staying away from the forum because that might militate against holding that far.
1020  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Vitalik Buterin's health declining? on: July 04, 2017, 07:08:58 AM
That is very obvious from the pictures even myself they I have not known him before the recent controversy concerning ETH knows from the picture that he is not feeling too well its so unfortunate that the brightest mind are the ones that get to witness failing health and hoping he will recover because ETH to me is a legacy that would stay even beyond majority that saw its emergence in this crypto world.
