1101  Economy / Economics / Re: Entrepreneurs, money and investing - your culture on: October 19, 2021, 04:10:22 PM
In the country I was born in, speaking of money is even considered bad taste among those who consider themselves entrepreneurs or owners of companies or property. When making business plans, there is much speaking about mission, objectives and there is an underlying belief that only there is certain social class that is legitimised to do business. Also, inverting in stocks is considered a merely speculative activity, that is the closest thing to gambling and only for the greedy.

This way of thinking does not do compel people to seek financial education or try to build a business. What about your country?

Quite similar here while I was growing up. I remember trying to start a business while I was in school,  I would be told that I should forget about money and focus on education. But my intention wasn't really about having lots money but to be independent and not be a burden to people I depended on for tuition fees and other needs.
I think you could convince such people if you demonstrate that you can very well solve serious problems they are aware of with your skills/talents,  that you can manage money well, live humble life and you are disciplined/knowledgeable enough to run a business successfully. That should convince them you deserve the amount of money you want.
1102  Other / Off-topic / Re: Every mistake you ever made has lead you to this period of your life on: October 19, 2021, 03:05:35 PM
Every mistake you made in your life has changed your path and has lead you to that moment of your life.
If you didnt do one of them you wouldn't be doing what you do now. Mistakes are good thing , you learn from
I dont think there is a negative mistakes, you can extract a lesson from every mistake you make.
What do you think about that?

I don't think "mistakes" that led someone to good path should be considered Mistake. could be called Correction

Mistakes are signs of imperfections. It can lead to serious problems. Better to minimize mistakes as much as by experimenting, learning something really well to minimize mistakes, always check for mistakes before use and avoiding making mistakes with things that can lead to serious problems.

It's not really good to make mistakes... It's good if you make mistake and you're willing to correct it. This doesn't mean you have encourage mistakes in order to learn from them
1103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you spend your Bitcoin? on: October 19, 2021, 10:40:51 AM
I mostly hold mine and use others to buy fiat, which is basically part of the spending . Though I hope in the future I will be able to use it for buying other things, (preferably things that are local) and not just for buying fiat. I think the best way to spend it in this manner is through decentralized peer-to-peer means.. . And it should be within the Bitcoin Economy and Global Network.
1104  Economy / Economics / Re: Facebook Diem on the run for launch on: October 19, 2021, 10:10:01 AM
It shouldn't be in thesame category as Bitcoin and other true cryptocurrency if it's not going to be decentralized. Cryptocurrencies without decentralization should be classified as false cryptocurrencies. Their lack of decentralization cancels all the other benefits of true crypto such as transparency, censorship resistant, immutablity, privacy, full public consensus etc
A truely decentralized cryptocurrency shouldn't be offline or shutdown for even a few minutes, not to talk of shutting down for over 10 hours for maintainance and upgrade
Think about this.

By the way, the true reason for the "maintainance and upgrade" determines how safe the Facebook coin will be in centralized hands
1105  Other / Off-topic / Re: SUICIDE IS FOR COWARDS on: October 19, 2021, 09:43:42 AM
I agree that suicide is for cowards, people who choose to look at death head-on instead of life itself. Although suicide is not selfish, I believe that if one chooses to take their life, it should be one's choice and their choice alone. It is sad, yes, but who are you to keep them from wanting to end it? I feel it's more selfish to guilt them into staying. Just remember that they fought a long and hard battle. "A fowl that is not dead could still peck grains," is quite a cruel statement to use for suicide, note this is not living, but simply surviving.

You may not have encountered such things as jail. Being in it, life is not just devalued to a minimum for many, it becomes unbearable. And when every day a person goes through suffering, it may be a more acceptable option for him to die. Everything is known by comparing something. And believe me, there are many aspects in this world that many of us bypass from the beginning to the very end. The fact that we can put ourselves in the place of a person is far from what it means to be in his place.

Well, the truth is that if someone is not strong enough to withstand something that can make him take his own life he would feel hopeless and attempt taking his own life.
It's likely that everyone has breaking points, if you approach that point, a person feels completely hopeless and defeated.
That's why it's important for all humans to anchor their hope and faith in the CREATOR of this World and nothing else can defeat you or make you take your own life
1106  Other / Off-topic / Re: new website project (non-BTC related) about TV series need input on: October 15, 2021, 04:32:03 PM
@Ucy: thanks for the input Smiley
As an answer to your question: the main idear would be to warn people that a show was cancelled and the final episode ended on a cliffhanger...
Netflix is a prime example: they keep pumping out new TV shows, the makers of the show end their season on a cliffhanger (because they think that would decrease their odds of getting cancelled), yet netflix still cancels them... The end result is: all fans of the show are left hanging... They saw the final episode (ever) ending on a huge cliffhanger which never gets resolved.

For me, this behavior is a dealbreaker: i refuse to watch an older show if i know it doesn't have a proper ending (an open ending can also be a "proper" ending, i'm basically talking about the shows that end on a cliffhanger, but it was obvious the show wasn't meant to stop at that point)... Offcourse, shows that are still running are always a gamble.

I'm trying to make a public database people that love TV shows could visit before they start watching an older show... That way they can look up wether or not the show they are interested in has a proper ending before investing a lot of time into watching a show that abruptly stops and leaves them hanging high and dry.

Really useful solution to the problem... but I wonder how many people will be interested in knowing whether TV Shows they are interested in have proper ending. Ofcourse, I know what it feels like to leave people hanging with cliffhanger after investing lots of time (plus the emotional attachments) on shows they find really interesting. I'm not sure how many people will be interested in avioding such shows if they are hard to resist.

Anyway I guess there will quite a number of people who will be very much interested in this kind of service/detail. Maybe you could get people to be interested if there are not alot out there.
By the way, I noticed you are doing this because no one has been able to do it like you want. In the end you may end up attracting people who want or would want thesame service
1107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Bitcoin stands to gain when the government prints more currencies on: October 15, 2021, 03:41:17 PM
I think it should be attracting the right kind of money if we want the growth to be sustainable. The right kind of demand should come mostly from hard-earned money or hard-money, which will likely be used responsibly or for something very useful on the network.
This particular price increase is unique and well deserved though.
1108  Economy / Economics / Re: When you sell is no longer "yours" on: October 15, 2021, 03:19:48 PM
Ofcourse.
Better to sell when you absolutely need fiat currencies to buy other more important things, especially things that will be as useful or better than just keeping all your funds in one place. It would not be a good idea to sell to buy junk foods or luxury goods for example.
1109  Economy / Economics / Re: Is budgeting still effective in tackling the need to constantly withdraw money? on: October 15, 2021, 03:00:42 PM
I failed big time this month. I had some extra income thankfully from a few things like selling and so forth. September was a bad month and that is why I wanted to make some investments and get some extra money by doing garage sale type of situation. In the end I made more than 40% of my salary just from selling few things. It really worked out very good for me on that part, but I failed so miserably because I decided to buy things that I "needed".

Yes, I did need them, like a walking shoe because doctor told me to walk 30-40 minutes everyday and I paid for my visit to my moms, which I would do anyway one day, so why not pay for it now so that it would be free, and I met with a few friends since I couldn't during pandemic and we finally had a good day all together. All of that combined and few smaller things made all that extra money gone. Now, I have nothing to show for it aside from a shoe and few good memories. Make sure you do your budgeting carefully or you may end up like me.

I remember passing through similar situations and I tested my self to be sure If i really needed those things I thought I needed.... I imagined what will happen to me or things that depend on me if I end up not buying them, will there be problems, if yes how big or small will the problem be? If there will be little to no problem I will end up not buying or I'll go for cheaper alternatives. The test should fairly determine whether or not we actually need these things, so that we don't spend unnecessarily.
And it's also important to order your actual needs according to their priority. That may help you focus on top priority and leave the least ones for other times.
1110  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think will happen to the price when all the bitcoins are mined? on: October 15, 2021, 10:50:27 AM
The maximum number of bitcoins that can be issued is fixed.
Eighty percent of the coins have already been mined.
What do you think will happen to the price after all the bitcoins have been mined?
What do you think will happen to the price once all the bitcoins are mined, and how do you think bitcoin will affect the global economy?

The price will largely depend on how strong the demand for Bitcoin will be and the supply. If demand remains high with limited supply, it would go up... this's on the basis that no one is able to manipulate the price too much and Bitcoin remains decentralized.

So Bitcoin will need to keep doing the right things in order to continue to create demand after 21million, without compromising on its principles/ideals. End of the mining reward won't guarantee scarcity and price increase if there isn't enough demand for Bitcoin
1111  Economy / Economics / Re: NASA Engineer Earns Crypto By Helping Crowdsource Stock Picks on: October 15, 2021, 10:26:12 AM
One of the most important risk here is that you stake your reputation and time. If you make a bad call it will definitely affect your reputation and you don't earn anything from time spent in solving the problem. It's risky to spend time trying to solve a problem and you end up losing in the competition, wasting your time and running your reputation. Better to use that time in learning to succeed in what you can do and earn rewards from it
1112  Other / Off-topic / Re: new website project (non-BTC related) about TV series need input on: October 15, 2021, 09:58:59 AM
Interesting.
Trying to see how popular your site will be (assuming it's well promoted by you and others), one of the main thing I was looking for that could satisfy visitors alot is the rest of the series that continued the cancel shows from the cliffhanger parts. I think you could attract lots of curious visitors if you could get them to watch the remaining part. But i guess not all the shows will have the remaining parts especially if they are still in productions.
By the way, I wonder what problem you are trying to solve with this. Do you want to create a space to attract the series fans to discuss and predict what next the remaining show will be, or just discuss anything of interest that relates to the show and also add their own series?

I don't watch much. If I watched, that would probably put me in a better position to advise on how the site should be like and what it should and should not have.
1113  Other / Off-topic / Re: How can I learn English well in 1 year? on: October 15, 2021, 09:22:33 AM
I really want to learn English but I don't know how to start?  I asked a friend and they advised me to study some IELTS self-study books but after 1 month it didn't make any progress.

Do you want to be proficient in English or something? Your English is ok from what I can tell (maybe aside from little grammar issues here and there that may not be wrong from your point of view) . Or did you translate this post from your own local language?

Unless you need some kind of "perfect" English grammer for something really important, I don't think it's necessary to speak/write exactly as perfect as the grammer books would want you to.
But if you think you need learn, maybe because of poor English, or for important tasks that demands perfect grammer then go ahead.
I probably could learn perfect English grammer more quickly by always listening to things I enjoy that are written in perfect grammar. If i don't atall know the language I want to learn, I would try to learn it quickly through good songs that I like. The songs would need to be crafted in a way that teaches the most used sentences in a language correctly and repeatedly, with translations
1114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some Interesting Facts About BITCOIN on: October 14, 2021, 04:32:29 PM
Bitcoin mining consumes energy that can run a mid-sized country. Currently, Bitcoin mining energy usage is estimated at 73 TWh, which can efficiently run a country.

Wish I knew exactly how much of energy that translate to and whether it's worth it.
This shouldn't be seen as something specific to Proof of Work . I think you could have PoW without consuming too much energy unless the energy consumption is worth it and is safe for the environment/society
1115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Putin believes Bitcoin has value on: October 14, 2021, 03:59:05 PM
Russia is adopting a different attitude towards cryptos than China. President Putin has come public saying "Bitcoin has value but it cannot be used in the Oil trade"

I guess Putin didn't still fully grasp the real potential of cryptos as he says
Quote
“Cryptocurrency is not supported by anything as of yet. It may exist as a means of payment, but I think it’s too early to say about the oil trade in cryptocurrency.”
But even so, it shows that Russia seems to be adopting a friendly position facing cryptocurrency and it may be having some impact on the industry. Given that China adopted a harsh position towards cryptos, is it possible that miners are relocating from China to Russia? Is it possible for Russia to step up to occupy the former place China had in Bitcoin? I guess this is what is happening, otherwise, Putin wouldn't come public with such a neutral position.

Excerpt from the link:
Quote
Russian President Vladimir Putin thinks cryptocurrencies have value — but he's not convinced they can replace the U.S. dollar in settling oil trades.

In regards to the bolded part above, guess I understand why he said that.
I think you could solve the problem that may have prompted that part of the statement by regulating supply to help keep price fluctuations moderate without compromising on Bitcoin anti-inflation feature.

Bitcoin is supported by its global users though. Wonder the kind of support the Pres is referring to anyway.

I guess the better one is the one that is healthier without synthetic and unhealthy chemicals/substances that are harmful to the consumers. Nevertheless, I'd be abit shocked if either of the two is healthy atall
1117  Other / Off-topic / Re: Whats with merit? on: October 14, 2021, 03:05:24 PM
I personally give "merits" to people with very useful and good contributions. If your contribution has little to no fault and useful, I would consider it merit-able.

Maybe if you tell me your purpose of joining the forum, i will send you some merits if the reply meets my merit standard.

The reply/post doesn't necessarily have to be long or perfect in grammer.
the forum you mean bitcointalk? I joined sometime back to learn about cryptocurrencies and mining. Now im working on the mining angle to see where i can buy some good equip as i sold of most of my old hardware.

Will give you one merit here not just because of the answer but due to how long you have been on the forum without any merit yet.
Meanwhile your reply is ok but doesn’t really move me enough to give out more than one.

1119  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you think betting on Games/Events/Competition is evil on: October 14, 2021, 10:12:56 AM
If in you religion it is considered as banned or in your country it is banned and still you do then that is evil. If if it is legal and as a part of fun or just in hope to make some money you do it and have a control over it then should be fine.

If it's good/moral and is banned by your "religion" Or in your country, you did no wrong if you use it, otherwise it could be considered a crime to do what is good/moral. The purpose of Law is to guide us to do what is good/moral. The law shouldn't stop us from doing what is right. OK?

1120  Economy / Economics / Re: What are common arguments for Bitcoin? on: October 14, 2021, 09:47:51 AM
What should new investors know about Bitcoin?

It's simply a decentralized Global Network/System with a main Currency called Bitcoin, and is made of people spread across the world who value transparency, privacy, honesty to be able to transact and make decisions together.
The Network Currency is called Bitcoin, and the Network/System is called Bitcoin Network. Certain People simply refer to the Bitcoin Network/System and the Currency as Bitcoin

The Network is built to give participants/users control over their bitcoins/assets/data, take part in full network consensus, transact with any participant in any country in the world, protect users privacy, secure users data/assets etc
