1161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: November 05, 2014, 04:05:14 PM
I am not only holding my btc, but also mine them using cloud mining, and I started buying more since the price is very low. I believe that the price will sky rocket once bitcoin get international recognition and more people start using it. This will take time, maybe 10 years, but it will happen and when it does we (the first investors) will be the richest people.  Wink

If it is going to take 10 years to become the "new wealthy elite, gentlemen," then those of us aspiring for such status better have some decent will power and patience to be able to hold onto our coins for such an extended span of time.

These things tend to happen gradually. It will not take 10 years.

2-3 years TOPS, probably more like 1 year.

I think that is a reasonable amount of time to wait to be rich Smiley

Also gives you time to stock up on as many BTC as possible Smiley

Why do you guys want to be super rich so badly? What's the big deal? This is a serious question, could you guys answer why you want to be part of a wealthy elite? Don't you know the cons of being rich?

Give me all the cons please. The cons are just bullshit that stupid people face who don't know how to handle the money.

I'd have to disagree. Being wealthy is a responsibility in itself, and you become a much higher profile target for all sorts of evil men. Especially the "benevolent" rulers.

There are a lot of downsides to wealth, and even more to fame. I've looked at it from near and on the fringes many times, and I've had wealthy friends who's names you would recognize. But I value their friendship more than the name dropping. The pros outweigh the cons to me, but the wealthy do not live simple lives. Having a simple life has certain appeal as well. Wealth in itself is not a goal for me. It's a milestone in my goals, but of itself it's not a goal. I would rather be wealthy than poor. I would in fact like to be ultra rich, because then I could achieve the things that are actually important to me. Understanding that linkage is difficult for most people, thus even if they manage to accumulate a fair amount of treasure, they generally piss it away trying to LOOK wealthy.

In my pleasures, I'm a simple man. I don't see this changing if I do achieve wealth. In my passions, I am not, and this most certainly won't change. I think the gentleman's question was legitimate.

Wealth is power. I've never been rich, but I've been pretty well off, and I've been dirt poor and homeless. All have their good and bad points, but the good points of being wealthy outweigh the bad, because of the personal power you can wield. If you want to effect change as a poor boy, you have only your wit and voice. As a rich man, you have the ability to amplify that wit and voice with a great many things.

To me, wealth is not in itself a worthy goal, it's a measure of success in things that matter much more to me. Not the only measure by any means. But if I could achieve sufficient self sustaining wealth to not worry about what my family will eat next week, or next decade, I would have far more time for other ventures. I am not the guy who would win powrball and go bankrupt a year later Cheesy

Wealthy? Maybe some of us. Elite? Meh. Gentleman? Lol .. Have you read posts from bitcoin users?

Well, in the classic sense a "gentleman" is someone who owns land...

So I don't qualify there. I'm not sure I'll ever be elite either, but I wouldn't mind Tongue
1164  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: November 05, 2014, 03:39:39 PM
is there an app for pbmining for android users?

There's an unofficial one by Vjain. I don't have the link handy, but if you scroll back in the thread a bit you'll find him and it.

so expect about .0002 btc in HYP. Im SURE your rental cost more than that.

Yeah, it does. This is for support of the community and long term gains. I was afraid this would happen. I haven't the time to gain the expertise right now, or I would try to do my own multipool. I know the basics, but I do not know how to set up auto switching algorithms nor the bet way to set up trades.

Just wanted to post my results for the Hyperstake Multipool. First let me say I am a MASSIVE hyperstake fan, as a hardcore cryptotrader , I have many coins, and I love my HYP. Here are my 24 hour results:

Scrypt 200mhs full 24 hours: 377.64644 HYP
X11 farm with 50 overclocked and optimized geforce 750ti using cuda 6.5 and latest geforce driver and latest ccminer: 66.057513 HYP

Thats what you can expect if your using about 15,000 watts of power for hashing.

Dont know if to laugh or cry.  I just looked at stats , pool has enormous hash, and paid out a grand total of 1000 HYP , so I got near half of that, not bad ..LOL . Call me when its starts paying, for now im done pissing in the wind. Let me be clear again.. Im NOT bashing HYP, but the pool needs some SERIOUS overhaul..ya ..ya.. its new..its beta.

Vegas

Hyperstake address: pD2vFnN27ymZBkDkQRLeXrwMtBiHWhQynq

I made 1.29 hyp for about 3/4 of a day at 2.07 MH. I have a rental rig pointed at it now with 85 MH/s scrypt, for three hours. We'll see how it rolls.

how badly misunderstood Proof of Stake is, especially since it's so frequently compared to interest, which it is not.

I'd love to read more about this, if you can elaborate. I view this as interest too. Is the distinction you are making about "new" coins rather than payment from existing coins from the loanee ?

Sure. I'm real busy right this minute, but a quick overview:

Interest is a cost appended to a loan, as in the lender is repayed the principle and a fee. The fee is interest.

Proof of stake is actually unrelated to this, though the calculation is the same. Proof of Stake is actually an alternate proof of work mining, it is just a different method than hitting the block template with many thousands of attempts at solving an equation.

I'll go into why this matters later.

Also wanted to note that the 10 coins in single coin blocks are all about a day away from being eligible for stake, for any of you lovely lunatics following the experiment.

I still think that someone needs to produce a quality Whitepaper...
Something along the lines of "The Phenomenon of the High Stake Alt Coin Niche"...
I'd rather see a HyperStake whitepaper. It would contain two parts:
  • one about PoS and how it is an alternative to PoW with its peculiarities (greener, but also merge token and mining power, which means that rich stay rich and poor stay poor except if they buy/sell) plus the orientation of this coin (experimentation; including multisend and its consequences, plus the fact that it would be maybe the first whitepaper after the release of the coin, yet another experiment). There also would come your considerations about "why high stake is working better than expected" and "why high stake has proven for 12-18 months to far exceed Zero Sum expectations. I would also add some psychology about aversion to loss and how sharing profit (and not principal) encourages sharing and what comes with it.
  • And another part, more technical, meant to explain the inside technology and could be obtuse for non-dev.

Agree, too stiff formulation, a little misunderstood. It can be a reward for a promotion plan or some idea, a separately standing application of the HyperLoan feature. The sum of a loan can be enlarged to create a good stimulus for producing and for implementing this ideas. And the risk of non-returned loans can be eliminated by a dumped private key and multisig (in theory).
Can you elaborate on how you'd see dumped private key and multisig to work? dumped private key alone won't work but if we can implement multisig, I could propose bigger and bigger loans with time (I don't plan to go above 8k with the present situation).

I might be able to do some of this, if some of the more technical guys can run with my prose and edit for errors. I'll get started on it. POS coins in general fascinate me, both because of their potential and how polarizing they can be and how badly misunderstood Proof of Stake is, especially since it's so frequently compared to interest, which it is not.
1171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - High Fast Stake - Version 1.5 Final Beta on: November 04, 2014, 07:48:36 PM
I like the above, except in the parlance we're talking here, hobos aren't bums.

A bum doesn't work. A hobo goes from place to place picking up whatever job he can get. He might be a beggar sometimes, though usually not.

There are natural hierarchies at work even in the world of the homeless Tongue
1172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin 500% PoS/PoW hybrid SuperStake on: November 04, 2014, 06:09:26 PM
My bad, been around HYP and 1000 reward limit for too long  Cheesy

This was my first POS coin, and remains my favorite. It's definitely an accumulate and hold sort of coin. I'd try to start off with about 5K. I don't have that much at the moment, because I had problems in life and had to sell, but it stakes generally within a few days of the thirty day maturity. Far less sensitive to block size than HYP, and the hybrid nature makes it so that the chain keeps moving even if there are problems with POS.

There were some problems a bit back. Pretty bad transition to the fixed wallet, though it did get straight. I was part of that, as a guinea pig, and it was a bit of a PR disaster Tongue During that time, the POW side worked just fine. There were, unfortunately, several forks for a few days. In retrospect, it could have been done better, but we all thought we had a lid on it.
Now it's working as it should, and yes, sometimes the NVCS system does lower the interest if the difficulty gets too high, but you can choose not to stake at those times, and all you lose is a bit of time.

TEK is a very solid coin.

I'm in with 2.07 MH of scrypt.

Curious if there's a way to see your miner's stats. I've found global, but putting in my mining address doesn't bring anything up. Maybe it needs to propogate?

Hunter, I like that sig. Grabbin' it now Cheesy
EDIT: can you post the sig in a normal post so we can copy and paste it?

HYP MULTIPOOL IS LIVE

http://thepool.pw/HYP/

Please referer to this how to http://thepool.pw/HYP/?f=howto for more details on how to set up the miners, the multipool does not require registration, the miners must use their HYP address as worker name to receive payment.

That was fuckin' quick Tongue I'll point my miners there very soon Cheesy

I will contact the operator now. And fire up my bitcoin-qt.exe to grab a fresh address.  Also, I would hope that people will throw hash at it once up Smiley

I will definitely throw hash. What algorithm will it be (to see if I should buy some ASICS)
someone earlier had said it was scrypt, sha, X11 and X13. My Asics are scrypt (a gridseed and a Zeus Blizzard). I have a sha rig too, but it's PSU went fzzzt and I don't have a spare right now Tongue

Depending on how they payout and how well the profitability is, I might rent a rig or two.

I don't really care about the profitability, and would take even a slight loss even. All I care about is the HYP payout and seeing HYP prices stable Smiley

I meant profitability in HYP. If I rent machines, I need it to do something for me Tongue For the machines I already have, that's where I'z pointin' 'em.

EDIT:
For the multipool donation address. I believe once we hit 1 BTC, some multipool will start paying out in HYP. Ask someone that is more knowledgeable on the topic, I only know the basic details Tongue

Step back a few posts. Presstab said we already got the fee. The wheels are in motion Cheesy

I'll throw something at it. Not much, cuz I don't have much. But if it supports scrypt, I'll point a miner at it.
