Spontaneous protesting?

Well George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis by a police officer who stood on his neck with his knee for 8 mins. The video was absolutely horrid.

The protesting was and is because of this, they want reform in police departments across America. That's fair. I'm not sure on the looting and whatever though, just assuming that's just people who wanted to take advantage of this situation.

All "protests", looting, violence and vandalism was organized. Ever heard of "flash mob?"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_mob

Now consider how do you, day after day, get flash mobs in 20-50 cities near simultaneously.

....I'm not sure if TecShare understands that there is a major different between peaceful protesters and rioters. There's nothing wrong with peaceful protesters......

He understands, as apparently you do not, that Antifa has been actively providing cover and support for violent rioters, while trying to hide under a supposed "movement not organization" subterfuge.

You need to ask some basic questions, like "Where and who is the Central Command behind the recent nation wide organized protests and nation wide organized violence."

But those LEGITIMATELY aren't the majority of the protesters, plain and simple.

I'm not arguing that there are violent protesters, as there are. All of us have seen the videos of the looting happening all across America in different cities. But it's not fair to group the non violent protesters with the violent ones.

I don't think there is a central command. Are there groups that are helping to organize things? Yes. But I don't think there are tons of paid protesters and all of that jazz.
REALLY? All that was spontaneous? First, spontaneous protests. Then, spontaneous riots. Then spontaneous firebombing and looting.

REALLY?

I'm fairly confident that we'll never agree on anything Smiley
I stand corrected, we do sort of agree on several points!

You've got to agree that the fact that "every government" having embarked on a course provides ZERO PROOF that it is the correct action.
Yes, agreed on principle on the lack of proof. What is happening is that governments are giving huge handouts to prop up businesses and individuals to cover their losses during the lockdown, with the assumption that if they did not do so, then businesses would either collapse or else be forced to lay off huge numbers of employees. Governments are trying to keep the current system going. I agree that there is no proof that this is the best approach, given that (AFAIK) no other approaches have been attempted - but if the aim is to minimise economic damage, then can you suggest any better approaches? Does the current approach work to prevent catastrophic economic damage? Would 'do nothing' result in less damage?

in the USA we have states, and we can experiment with things like UBI to a fair extent. I'm not at all opposed to that. What I'm opposed to is attempts to put such schemes on an entire country based on any type of philosophical construct (marxist, socialist, libertarian, anarchist, and yes capitalist).
Agreed again. I'm not suggesting that everyone should be forced to adopt UBI, merely that a) the current response replicated around the world, of handouts to businesses and individuals, is UBI in all but name, and that b) given the first point, governments would be remiss not to look at implementing UBI trials as a possible route out of the coming economic storm, and a possible route to a more egalitarian future.

In the recent COVID mess, in the US, we've got numerous anecdotes of people stopping work/not going back to work the very moment government payout for doing nothing exceeded the income they got from the job they dropped.

Expanding that to the macro economic level, it would seem that the more a country moved toward UBI, the more it would be shrinking it's Economy and GDP.

If you have a problem with where Stein, or anyone else is placed, then talk about that and put an argument forward about where you think they should be placed.
They should be carefully picked up in a small plastic bag, that carefully closed, and placed in the nearest trash bin along with all the other doggie doodoo.

I wonder how realistic it is to offer such a suggestion. That is, knowing that the same crowd the previous day sheltered terrorists, and this one likely did also.

Terrorists according to who? Pretty sweet for Trump that he just gets to call vast, unidentified swaths of the American public "terrorists" and his authoritarian toadies will follow him anywhere with it.

I guess its not very feasible seeing how much of the country despises him, but talking to the protesters face-to-face would have been symbolic of strength and leadership -- two qualities he simply does not possess.

Trump toads should really ask themselves a question: what happened during the leadership of your president that forced him to call his own citizens "terrorists"?

I can see how the face to face standup shoutdown could have worked as you described, but it would have required padding the crowd with fake "protesters", who were really MAGA. A plausible and typical thing for knuckle dragging, lowbrow Democrats, but something that likely didn't even occur to Trump or his associates.

No, it's not. I wonder what happens when it'r property tax collection time. You know, time to collect the money to pay for the schools, hospitals, police and such?

Does CHAZ collect and keep the taxes?

Or do the city and county say, "Your little fun time is up. Get out or we throw you out."

He didn't even stop to pray or anything. Just grabbed a bible, made sure he was holding it right-side up, audibly reminded the press corps that "this is a bible," and went back to the White House.

What would have been more powerful is if he went to just go talk to the protestors on a personal level. ...

....I don't understand why it's still fine to if 2 black people call each other the N-Word. Everyone should just stop using that word. So the next generations growing up will never hear it.

Really? How much of classic literature do you have to ban do get to that point?

Want to include all of Jack London's fiction, where he shows the N-word being used to refer to Polynesian Islanders in the common language of the 1890s?

How about Hemingway?

I'm going to stop at these two, but just recall, words mean different things in different times and places.

1170  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone... What are your thoughts on it? on: June 16, 2020, 06:21:17 PM
I don't know what you mean, but if you have a specific problem with something on there it shouldn't be a dealbreaker.  Its all approximate.   You could look at other ones that have been filled out with people.  These individuals are all in the correct vacinity but different people might have subtle disagreements about the exact positioning of where they are.  No one should confuse Stalin's position with Chomsky's though.

What deal? You are garbage and so are your arguments.

The mixup of individuals, philosophies and nations in the same chart?

If not just "garbage" it's downright weird. Stein? On the same chart as Mao, Reagan, Jefferson? You are kidding, right? Sanders? Middle of the road, eh? He's one of the more authoritarian creeps of the last several decades.

But regardless, a chart of this type with FAILED US SOCIALIST CANDIDATES FOR PRESIDENT?
1171  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Riots after Death of Man in Minneapolis Police Custody on: June 15, 2020, 11:48:44 AM
Resisting arrest is a felony.   Assaulting cops is a felony.  Disarming an Officer is a felony. Stealing an officer's taser is a felony. Pointing the stolen taser at an officer is a felony. Firing a taser at an Officer is a felony.
Assaulting officers is violence.  The fleeing felon has demonstrated he is quite capable of being a deadly threat to others.

None of this is grounds for a death sentence. You can make the argument that he was potentially a "deadly threat" to others - the courts may see it otherwise. Regardless, running away with a discharged taser is not a justifiable reason to be executed.

It really shouldn't matter what the law says cops can and can't get away with -- they should know better at this point in time that just because you can do something, it doesn't mean you should do it.
The "rules of engagement" specify when and how they should use deadly force. Simple as that, although there may be gray areas. These rules vary tremendously by state.
1172  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone... What are your thoughts on it? on: June 14, 2020, 03:42:37 PM
Anarchists and Soviets are on opposite ends of the authority spectrum.  OP has conflated the two and probably understands neither.   Rojava is a better example of what an organized anarchy looks like long term.

Since you are a communist, you must lie about this to hide the things your communist friends are doing.

Almost always we see "statist authority mongers" as being the current version of the "liberal", a totalitarian toad born of wrecked ideals of freedom and liberty.

So there's room left for some right wing "statist authority mongers?"

At this point in time it looks like USA will be having a very long hot summer.

I wish safety and peace to us all.

God bless!

Thank you. And we'll have a nice summer as soon as disruptive foreign influences stop funding and organizing riots and violence here.

Regardless, it'll all stop after trump wins the 2020 elections. And that's really all this is about, is attempting to unify a solid "wall of victims" to vote Democratic.

Yes, it's that obvious.
1175  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Riots after Death of Man in Minneapolis Police Custody on: June 14, 2020, 01:35:25 PM
Police officers are armed. He had a tazer. If he hit an officer with a tazer he could have armed himself. That is a direct threat. This kind of incident is exactly why fucksticks like you get no respect, because you defend violent criminals. If he was an innocent victim everyone would be in agreement, but he wasn't. He was a violent drunk idiot who got HIMSELF shot.

I can somehow learn to live without garnering your respect, but really man, you have to stop crying in public. Its embarrassing.

Like I said before, the man was shot while running away. The police officer being aimed at with the taser had backup. Lethal force was totally uncalled for in this situation.

Statist authoritymongers are gonna toady for the state though, can't stop that.

Regardless of your feelings on this particular incident, if violent drunk/jacked up individuals have 100 run ins with police some are going to escalate to shootings.

At the same time, there's always been a hint of "maybe something's wrong here" on the topic of shooting people in the back.

So a cop shoots an unarmed man in Atlanta last night.  Things go to shit.

and of course Donald "Nero" Trump is tweeting while Atlanta's Wendy's is burning.

Personally I did not think badly of Trump back then but he certainly has proved time and time again that Kano is correct I am a stupid idiot moron.

Oh well just another day/night in America.

To be fair. the black guy was most likely drunk and was able to prevent two cops from hand cuffing him.

He also pulled the taser from the cops belt and took off running.  He fired the taser at one cop possibly hitting the cop.

The other cop shot him in the back dead.

My thoughts  a taser is not a deadly weapon.

Taser was fired and therefore dead so no weapon.

Cops had already searched the guy and knew he had no other weapon.

Cops had his id.

So the cop's procedure:

Was check on your buddy cop.
Call in the issue and get 25 or 50 cops to find him with K-9 units.

Or

Blow him away.

Cop picked blow him away.

Oh two fires were set new my home in Howell ,NJ last night. I wonder why?

I get that many reading this are happy that the Cop blew him away.

I would have proffered they called in backup and K-9.

Oh well

Ps I have no idea if Donald "Nero" Trump was tweeting while Wendy's burned last night but I like the title.

Fine with me, but it has to be intentional.

Anyone with even just 10% of their brain functioning can see this is a script being played right up to election time and every time by treacherous entities and individuals manipulating black people this time and creating division.
....
~true story Grin

Yes, that's sad, but true. Trump cautioned the black community about this multiple times during his election. The first time I saw him talk about running for POTUS was 2015, very early, and he spoke alongside a black man who had lost his son to mindless gang violence in the ghetto.

He said he would build up the minority communities.

Now certain elements would burn them down.
1180  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Senate Bill Proposes $10,000 per Month UBI on: June 13, 2020, 02:46:19 PM
#4 is exactly, perfectly wrong, by the way. Who suggested such a thing might be true?

As far as I'm aware, every government that has implemented a lockdown. And not just suggested, they have put it into practice; they have been throwing billions of dollars around desperately trying to prop up their economies, because GDP has plummeted everywhere. Have you really not noticed that? What do you think might have been the consequences of no state intervention?

It's nice having the discussion anyway, even though I'm fairly confident that we'll never agree on anything Smiley
Regardless, this question has been variously posed throughout history. Notably as the effects of "government intervention" during the Great Depression of the 1930s in the USA, where a lot of historians concur that government policy LENGTHENED the depression, and made it worse. Also much discussed is Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society" initiative, intended to lift minorities up out of poverty.

By comparison, the 1893 depression was very short lived, and may be considered a model case in which there was no government massive aid program.

https://eh.net/encyclopedia/the-depression-of-1893/

You've got to agree that the fact that "every government" having embarked on a course provides ZERO PROOF that it is the correct action. Regardless, what will determine the recovery is the extent to which peoples' behavior has been changed or modified. In simple terms, will they go back to spending exactly the same as in 2019? If so, businesses and jobs will exist in similar amounts. If not, businesses and employment will be altered to suit the new conditions.

As one example, I do not think peoples' vacations will included ocean cruises in the future. So that's history, and those jobs and that spending is gone. That alone has many repercussions.

All that having been said, in the USA we have states, and we can experiment with things like UBI to a fair extent. I'm not at all opposed to that. What I'm opposed to is attempts to put such schemes on an entire country based on any type of philosophical construct (marxist, socialist, libertarian, anarchist, and yes capitalist).
