The Middle East conflict heats up when the UAE declares peace with ISRAEL

How can peace heat up conflicts? That sounds pretty dumb. As soon as oil will become of low relevance things will totally turn in the Middle East. Lots of conflicts will end because there will be little to no interference form other parts of the world.

Seems like this is a side effect of American fracking, which made the US energy independent. With high demand, the Middle East always had a vested economic interest in war. As war generated uncertainty, oil prices would go up.

Hopefully this trend will continue.

The most far left senator is Kamala Harris.

https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/report-cards/2019/senate

if you only want to consider a small aspect of reality, sure.

Voting record sure would seem like a good way of measuring it, but I guess there are other ways.

If you had to pick just one, then looking at bills sponsored makes a lot more sense than voting record but it wouldn't make sense to just ignore either one, or the campaign promises, speeches, interviews, background should all be considered when coming up with your own opinion of a member of congress' opinion.

I'm sure you can find some good things to say about the MOST FAR LEFT MEMBER OF THE SENATE.

trump is no expert. so looking for an adviser that jsut kisses pesidents ass rather than telling him the facts is not a good idea

atlas has been kissing many poliitcians ass for years and is more motivated by politics than by biology/fact

i cant see this going well as it will just turn into an echo chamber of whatever delusions trump comes up with just being repeated by atlas

other experts dont fear correcting idiots and thats whats best.
just hearing idiots and then hearing what idiots say get repeated by others. is never good

It's reached the point where Fauci has low credibility. Very low credibility.

Palestinians are pissed, to say the least. They've generally rejected peace in the region. Also important to note Israel hasn't given up annexation. Netanyahu said it's still on the table so it's more of a temporary halt.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/08/netanyahu-west-bank-annexation-plans-table-200813183431066.html

Quote
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he agreed to delay annexation in the occupied West Bank as part of a normalisation deal with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but the plans remain "on the table".

A half dozen more Arab countries will sign on to this in the next year. Palestine propaganda is so passee.

Harris is in no way moderate. By some metrics, she is to the left of Sanders who is widely seen in the Democratic Party as unelectable.

Some people are saying that she is one reason why we have the Bill of Rights, although if Democrats win the Senate and Congress along with the Presidency, we probably won’t have Bill of Rights anymore. She is willing to do anything for power, regardless of anyone’s pesky constitutional rights.

Left of Sanders? You seriously believe that?

If anything Kamala Harris is a conservative.

Harris is the left-most senator.

Only if you don't count Hawaii or Alaska.

The most far left senator is Kamala Harris.

https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/report-cards/2019/senate

I know the marching orders are to cast Harris as a moderate, though. How well do you think that bit of lying will work out? Might work. Just curious.

Hahahaha....

False.

Democrats PUSHED... LEGISTLATED ... CFL.

The free market created white CREE LED and ran circles around them.

Democrats crush nuclear power.

I think they are largely paid off by Middle East oil interests.

Convince the stupid Americans they can go green, then the oil has to come from Saudi Arabia.

Remind you of something? It should. The Russian pipeline to Germany?

And mark my words the coming climate disaster will kill and displace millions of people during our lifetimes. As long as you live another 30-50 years to really start experiencing it. During this decade we'll see another arctic ice all time low, every year it's more probable then the last, and eventually a blue ocean event. And the climate will start getting very different. More droughts, floods, hurricanes, fires, sea level rise, you name it. Some places will become unlivable. Some places will become impoverished. ....

...live another 30-50 years to really start experiencing it...

Exactly same thing was said 30 years ago, and 50 years ago...

But this is a standard "apocalyptic scare tactics" ... make the nightmare not close enough that you can get caught in the lie, and not far enough off that individuals won't experience it.

You forgot to bring up your “global cooling is the biggest threat to our planet” theory.
But that is because we are not discussing reality, but the fake alarmism and scare tactics of the Democratic Party, which are oriented around which scares provide the ability to shunt large buckets of money to the favored groups.

Where KonstantinosM has a logical fallacy is where he asserts the D party is actually one that do anything good for the Environment. These are the cretins who made an entire religion out of those goofy little coiled worm light bulbs. Remember that? What were they called? CFLs?

Since 1996 it was clear to anyone with a brain that white LED was going to take over lighting.
790  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Kamala Harris satisfy progressives? on: August 15, 2020, 12:45:50 AM
Ever since Biden picked Harris to be his VP candidate for the Democrat ticket, there's been two questions in the back of my mind:

Will Kamala satisfy the progressives of the party? Will a Biden/Harris ticket bring out the progressives of the party?

I think yes. I think that the progressives of the party learned their mistake in 2016 by not voting for Clinton. They may have not liked her, but they HATE TRUMP. They may not like Biden and Harris but the progressives of the party HATE TRUMP.

I personally think she won't satisfy the progressives, neither will Biden, but they will swallow their pride and accept them cause they're not Trump.

Any thoughts?
There has been a continual drumbeat to whip up hatred of each and every Republican president for decades. This has gotten considerably worse with the nonstop lying and fake conspiracies of Trump term 1 of 2.

I think there is no such thing here as "progressives of the party learned their mistake in 2o16 by not voting for Clinton."

First, all engaging in the D are defined as progressives.

Second, they'd rather stay home with a couple joints of the good stuff rather than go out to vote for Broomstick Hillary, now they have a similar issue with Bejing Biden.

I guarantee you their coasting along mellow on voting night is better than voting for two loser bitches.

I have a third question, which I think is the most important.

Can she ride Hillary's broomstick without falling off, like Hillary did?
792  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Kamala Harris satisfy progressives? on: August 14, 2020, 03:16:58 PM
Biden and Kamala are pretty close on most things so I don't think Kamala taking over would change much policy-wise.

They disagree on healthcare which is major. Kamala Harris wanted to phase out private insurance over a 10 year period and give medicare for all.

But I wouldn't hold it to her because she was pandering to the progressives during the primaries. She'll change her policy stances based on whatever will get her elected whether it's advocating for a ban on fracking, medicare for all, decriminalizing border crossing, or banning plastic straws.

Does anyone actually think Kamala Harris will be a champion for progressives?

Kamala didn't even make the promises obama made, I can't imagine what we'd get with her.

I'm not voting in that administration. The democratic party needs to learn that it has to change to get votes, they can't just be republican light.

It's fine you are welcome on the Trump team.

Metro: "When Neven Ciganovic woke up from getting a nose job, he was more than a little surprised to notice he had an erection. He was even more surprised when that erection didn’t go away for three months, and required three surgeries to get it back to normal."
....
Would anybody really be able to sustain a 3 month long erection?

Priapism is a persistent and often painful erection that lasts for several hours but 3 months is an exaggeration especially it involves an attention-seeking plastic surgery addict - right?
....
A few hours of that is extremely painful, and has consequences, like permanent damage. It's possible that it was intermittently reoccurring of course.

Allow the personality of the individual interfere with a medical diagnosis? Very, very bad idea.

Very tempting in this case, though.

Excellent, it so happens that my country is in good relation with Putin. Should it come from USA or UK, we would not see a pint of it until next year, if ever. And Trump wouldn't allow export of it anyway.

China also has 3 vaccines in testing, but i guess Russia rushed it (first post lol), Putin went so far as to place his own daughter at risk...
And also it could be a proud related thing for Russia against other developed nation, especially with USA because Russia still got bullied for not reaching the moon first so this is like Vaccine race between the countries to make themselves as better in the health care system.

First to produce a vaccine isn't quite a Moon shot, but it's a serious accomplishment.

did you know that 2 litres of water weights 2kg....

Nope. Two liters of liquid water does not weight 2 kg on Mars. Or on the Moon. Or at the ISS.

It does not weigh 2 kg on Earth if it is falling, it weighs zero.

It does not weigh 2kg if it is solid water, ICE.

It does not weigh 2kg if it is 2 litters of water vapor.

Neither does it weigh 2kg if it is heavy water.

The 2 liters will weigh less at the equator than at mid latitude, and more at the poles.

That's nine different ways that you've been proved wrong.

Did you just say 80% of UK has immunity based on your own personal observation? Is that based on you thinking that 80% of people in the UK have already have it, or that their body just has a natutal immunity to COVID?

Very curious on the line of thinking there. Because here's my line of thinking:

CDC says that we probably catch 1/10 cases that actually have COVID. Meaning that for every 10 cases that there really are, only one of them are caught by tests. Lets consider this for New York where they have about 474k cases that have been confirmed. From that, you could say that another 10x the amount of people have it. So that would mean that 4.7m people in New York had it at a point.

Just for context 20m people live in New York meaning that even on the high end of the scale, that would mean that only about 25% of NY had Corona. Herd immunity isn't achieved until you hit about 75-80%

But about 3/4 of the biped entities in NY are zombie Demorats, and I don't think they catch covid. So of the remaining 25%, the real living breathing humans, they should have herd immunity by now.
