this whole thread is hillarious, 72 gb  ddr3 ?! rofl

So:

 1 test 6 slot
1 test 8 slot   both for smos

what else?

as the two above would be 100 + 150 = 250  plus ram , cpus ,psu's  that keeps you over 500 for testing mobos.

well  it is more.  but I also filled them  for all of December when mining got hot and exceeded the pwoer cap on the solar array.

I like about 3 psu's   say 2  1000 watt corsair and 1 1500 watt   that is 700 in backup/tester

I like  3 mobos  2 for linux/smos one for windows  that is 300 in mobos

some ram  say 150  so I always keep 1100 in spare gear.

right now house is filled with excess mobos.

I have 15 used working mobos
I have 4-5 psus'
I have 10 sticks of ram
I have many many many ssd's hdd's usb sticks

I would say 2000 usd in idle gear.  rather then 1000.

but it lets me  test shit  fast and easy.

I sold a lot of 1070's  which is why the idle mobo count is high.
as we discussed in Pm's i have around the same amount of idle gear

1184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Advice for building a big mining farm on: February 12, 2018, 10:42:19 PM
If there will be eth asics then we will switch to other crypto. Anyway, we decided to invest and we think that it is still a good time to do it. We just want to solve the possible issue with the temperature during summer in the cheapest way possible.

I invested 70k in gpus mining 7 months ago and it was the same, peoples told bunch of things(speculation) and now I got my ROI...

For the heat, it's simple, something on the roof to get out the heat and hole at the bottom to get fresh air from outside. You can add AC to reduce temp of your room during summer. It's important to respect ventilation rules.
best advice here , gpus are a safe bet you can always sell them if you want out and the waranties are long

AC would destroy your earings , intake exhaust is your only option
1185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig heat on: February 12, 2018, 10:38:36 PM
Is there a recommended sq ft per rig ratio? I thought 380 sq ft would be plenty for the heat to dissipate with a decent exhaust fan. We are wanting to expand but obviously can't at this level of heat.

700 cfm exhaust is vey low  just use the TPD vs AC cooling calulation

in your case 48 108tis at 250 tdp each is 12000 watts of power you need to exhasust at minium

https://www.rapidtables.com/convert/power/Watt_to_BTU.html

so thats around 40k btus of heat so then convert that to required AC tonnage needed then from there to

CFM.

yeah i could do all this for you but whats the fun in that lol
1186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig heat on: February 12, 2018, 10:28:12 PM
Looking for suggestions/recommendations about heat generated through mining. We are currently running 6 1080 ti rigs (8 cards each) on 2 metal shelving units. They are in a 2 car garage with a 700 CFM exhaust fan and I'm still getting temps around 105-110 in the room with outdoor temps averaging 78-82. Any suggestions on how to bring the temp down to a more manageable number? Watched a video on youtube of a guy running his rigs in grow tents but it seemed a little sketchy to me. Anyone else doing this? Thanks in advance for the help guys.

rooftop exhaust fan and cool and intake fan , 6 rigs is alot for that small space

Man, I'm honestly glad to see some people tapping out. Now let's see the flood of used GPUs hit the streets.

Amen brotha

Its already started with some of the asics

Asic profitablity has gone to hell thats why, bitmain cant even sell thier asics anymore when they were going like hotcakes back in dec.

Hopefully these newbies have learned the cardinal rule in mining profitablity and success - " NEVER OVERPAY FOR HARDWARE"  if you buy a card that is retail at $370 for $800

or a card of retail $700 (1080ti) for fucking $1300 not only can you not resale the card anywhere near that price in the long term future, but buy paying such a high premium you

expose yourself far more to the fluctuations in crytop prices so like this Idiot OP, 30% drop in earning hits you 100% harder than they guy who maybe paid 10% premium on thier gear.

These geniuses though think we are trying to discourage them when we tell them its better to buy the fucking coins atm than get ripped off by vendors

/sigh
1188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining earnings are terrible, I'm shutting down for a while on: February 12, 2018, 10:13:15 PM
thanks god some of the fucktards stop mining and hopefully they will dump their gpus on the second market, so real miners can benefit from it

idiots are still buying cards at 2x msp , Ill sit tight my 200 card farm has alrready twice ROIED , so i will wait till new gpus or prices drop

for now I can make far more buing cheap coins than investing in cards

Idk why people are running such high dsci , I run at 35 and get around 1000 with my 470s and 570s and 580s , If you want your cards to last a few years I would not crank it up so much

1192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Giant X10 on: February 11, 2018, 12:24:46 AM
which one is the best coin to mine on X10 nowadays?

I found www.starpool.biz   is setup for maximum profit with the x10. Even when bitcoin dropped heavily was close to 50 a day now of course it's more.

Im not affiliated with them in anyway whatsoever but it's just setup very nice for the x10 and it has 0 pool fees right now. Hubs like MPH have gotten stale with no new coin additions in a long time.

can you please tell us which algo  you use?

If you use an x10 put (below) this in your password field on each stratum added (not just one). It will set it up for automatic profit switching. You of course have to add each stratum server individually as there's no multi switch single server.

c=BTC,quark,qubit,myr-gr,x11

make sure to check Extranonce

so does it do the same thing as MPH where it changes the algo or it just mines which ever stratum you put as first on the priority list?

Yes it changes to the most profitable algo and coin for that algo automatically.

heres a SS for a good setup I mentioned in a diff post what to put in the password of course in the user you put your wallet info

https://imgur.com/a/f8F4H

I cant se what the settings in the password filed are . can you post those here please sir ?

Lets talk new egg here , seen a few lower priced 580s finnaly , anyone have experince with multiple newegg accounts ?

do they look at the cc and shipping address or just the account if you have say two accounts ? , normally I dont mind buying one every few days

but with the currrent shortage i'd prefer to buy 2 or 3 and then be done with it for a while

Multiple accounts does not work. Whether it's the name or the shipping address I'm not sure but I tried that because they had some reasonably priced 570 8gb cards.

The bright side is they have been releasing them every 3 days so I grab one every time they go up.

This is newegg.ca but I imagine it's the same idea
damn well thats nice to know

thanks for this , im so done with mph, no xvg no other myrid coins, Ill. check it out right now

ugh they convert to BTC directly , I prefer to mine specific coins and then sell later when price ries

I still would try it

can you send a screen shot of your configuration? I only see options in thier help for gpus

Quick test on a gtx 1070 Ti and gtx 1060 (not optimized).  -dcri flags are 140 and 175 respectively.

GTX 1070 Ti 8gb Micron, 75% PL, ETH+XVG 31.3 MH/s + 1450 MH/s
GTX 1060 3gb Hynix,      60% PL, ETH+XVG 15.5 MH/s + 900 MH/s

jesus 1450 ?! on a 1070ti ?

Yup and can get to 1700+ with 90% PL and -dcri of 165

It seems many people here are confused how multialgo/multicoin pools like zpool work. When you set c=XVG, it's telling the pool you want to be paid in XVG coin. However, you can't choose what coin you will be mining. The pool will always decide for you, based on what's currently the most profitable coin to mine. So basically, you will be mining blake2s algo, the pool chooses the coin you will mine, and you get paid in XVG (or whatever coin you set).

Yup.  That's the rational behind it.  The symbol option is only what coin you would like to be paid and not the type of coin mined.  That's governed by the mining pool.

I keep my 1070s and 1070 tis at 70% to 78% power limit max but i had no idea they could do 1400 , I had them all set to 90

Lots of cards starting to pop up online second hand!
Still outrageously priced, but i'm sure there will be some bargains soon.
give it a few more weeks, I warned all those fools paying tripple retail price it was a bad idea
few people listened.  The longer this blood bath lasts the worse it gets for idiots who paid $900 for a 1070
and $700 for 580s 🤦🏿‍♂️

Or $1300+ for a GTX 1080 Ti.... I sort of feel bad for them, but mostly for their families in the cases of people maxing out credit cards or taking loans thinking they could get rich quick without taking a peak at how history repeats itself over and over.

I blame all the utubers "How to make $15 a day mining on one gtx 1080 TI!! Print your own monies!"

I am glad I did not buy the expensive GTX 1080Ti. I think I can buy them for below $800 in a few weeks.

Keep dreaming lol... if this last huge drop wasn't enough to kill the GPU gouging market, not sure it will end any time soon... and overall market if already back up about 40% from the bottom a few days ago.  Yes, there is more supply hitting the market now but even the ones that are "only" marked up $100-$150 (newegg & amazon) are gone instantly. The only ones i've seen stick available for more than 1-2 minutes are the $730-ish 1070ti's that came in at B&H. Sorry jokers, Im not paying nearly 50% above retail from a MF'ing retailer lol!  but clearly a lot of people are. Dare I say those cards will never ROI?  Or maybe in 1+ years IF the market really skyrockets again... a lot of ifs.

yeah $550 is my max for a 1070 or 107ti , $350 max for an RX 580 8GB

until prices drop to those levels ill just hold my coins and wait for the next pump

I found  some decent fully built gaming deals.

2 card rx 580  for 1313 plus tax
2 card 1080ti for 2200  plus tax

both have i7 8700
thats still too high for me, plus Im stuck with gaming box ram and cpu etc
Ill wait till volta is released and maybe have some friends pic up some cards locally for me

in your case they don't work.  for some they are an option.

I sold off a few units with 2 1080ti's set in cases and using smos.  I got 2k each

I don't mind  getting 2  for 2200 each   for 200 bucks cost on each I get.

an i7 8700 vs i3 7100
2 new 1080 ti's
windows 10 vs smos
1 tb hdd vs usb stick
8gb ram vs 4gb ram
new 1 year warranty vs 9 month old gear..

if you do the math a 1080ti is still worth more then 900 .  if it earns 4 dollar a day and spends 200 watts  it nets 3.50 a day  x 300 days = 1050 .

So if you buy a gaming rig and net 2100 in 300 days the rig has at least 900 value   so I turn 2200 into 3000 in 10 months .

But that is my model  selling gently used gear at good prices.
Like the s-9's I sold not marked upped like nuts.

BTW still have more s-9s  a two board  and a three board left are left.

the two board has a third board that died in about 1 month of use.

the three board is older works well

yeah you have a good process, for me selling stuff is a pain, plus the parts on those gaming rigs are of no use to me anymore since i have standardized on those 8 gpu onda boards which use smaller ram etc

matter of fact o have a ton of normal mother boards and 8gb ddr4 ram sticks I probably need to start listing on amazon since i cant sell on ebay with no paypal

I was fine last night but Umining is pure crap right now , lower hash rate and 15% rejects
1200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v11.0 (Windows/Linux) on: February 09, 2018, 03:31:36 PM
Well ive tried all 3 XVG pools  zpool are taking to much from me so im sticking with unimining  had no rejects at all

Let me know if that maintains after 4+ hours this morning and if you don't mind sharing the -dcri value you were using please.  Maybe mine needs adjusting. I was set to 35.

I have mine set to 33 myself on some cards like vegas and 1070s i have it as high as 90
