1181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think there will ever be a technology that can replace Bitcoin? on: March 08, 2023, 05:22:53 PM
Innovation is infinite, meaning there would always be room for improvements in any technology. It is impossible at the time to envision how that change would come, similar to how those in the early days of computers thought that with advancements computers would get progressively bigger not smaller to fit into our pockets.

Bitcoin is a futuristic technology, but the future is going to last a while.

Gold lasted as the best money for all of humanity until we moved from metals to paper and to digital.
The move to paper was barely an upgrade.
1182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what is this complex terms, help me to understand on: March 08, 2023, 05:17:04 PM
my question is what type of nodes are honest nodes ,
Nodes or miners that keep the consensus chain running without any attempt at a malicious attack.

how the nodes decide network to be honest
The block chain is built on hundreds of thousands of singular blocks stacked on each other in a chronological order. Determining the longest valid chain among any malicious attempt to hijack the network would be fairly easy.

how would dishonest nodes can change the network or attack the network or hack the network
If a miner can gain at least 51% of the hashrate, they have consensus and can attempt to double spend transactions.
1183  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Common red flag to detect a scam on: March 08, 2023, 02:55:40 PM
I'll add that one should view everything as a scam until proven otherwise. At every point in time we would be cautious of any message or offer we get and look for reasons that point out that it's a scam. It would be difficult to still fall for a scam that you suspect to be one.

Also, if it's too good to be true, then it isn't.
1184  Other / Meta / Re: How can I increase my merit? on: March 08, 2023, 02:49:17 PM
Is merit important and should I interact more?
What's your reason for registering an account here on the forum? If it's to learn more about Bitcoin and invest a bit when you've acquired more knowledge, then the forum ranks and politics should not really bother you. Merits would more or less be pats on the back for an educative post or response.

But if you are more focused on advancing in the forum, knowing how it works beyond the rules and maybe entering a signature campaign, then you should understand how ranks work.

Secondly, you should not interact more than you wish to. If reading and learning without commenting works for you, do that
1185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some superior aspects of Bitcoin over Banks we overlook. on: March 07, 2023, 08:16:04 PM
These features are surely not overlooked here on the forum. Bitcoin has so many qualities which makes it unique, with the top for me being that you function effectively as your own bank.
You can set up your branch when you want and send transactions once you have some bitcoins in your balance without having to trust any third party.

When you examine these two institutions, you will find that bitcoin is more appealing than banks, even if some people believe that banks and bitcoin must coexist for acceptance.
Banks are an integral part of our society at this time and any there financial institution must coexist with it.
1186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My arguement with a friend who likes POS instead of POW. on: March 07, 2023, 08:10:50 PM
So i told him that BTC is only pegged to USD in order to trade and make money. But the value will always be 1 BTC = 1 BTC. As long as you hold BTC, you owe that much BTC.
Bitcoin is paired to USD but not pegged to it. Stable coins are pegged to assets to retain their value, Bitcoin is not a stable coin, but is paired with different fiat currencies to show its value.
1187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin appears to have decoupled from the stock market, finally... on: March 07, 2023, 03:53:56 PM
Has the stock market decoupled from Bitcoin?

<snip>
If you've always had perfect statistics of good reports then it means the system is working as it should. No system can be perfect or appease everyone at all times. The mods also do their best with what is available.

What annoys me the most is when you do something and it works, you do it again and it suddenly stops working. Why, because of what? Unknown, just because.
Human error. You factor it into anything that people act based on their discretion.
This error could be from the person handling the reports or the person making it.
1189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I found my Bitcoin books from 2016 on: March 07, 2023, 11:41:36 AM
I hope someone learn one or two from my journey, if you can't afford Bitcoin, find a source of income first, enough to feed your needs and enough for savings or else you will go back to the last savior you have ( Your Bitcoin wallet) and spend it all to survive.
This is elite advice and anyone who couldn't read the whole thread should focus on this.
Bitcoin is not a way to make money, but an investment option to save up a part of your income for the future.

There is nothing that beats learning, maybe I would have had a different outcome if I focused more on learning. Because I will understand how valuable Bitcoin will be in the future.
Knowledge is invaluable. If one acquires knowledge before considering any investment their chances of being successful in the long run is much higher.
Successful in this context means either choosing the right asset and holding for a reasonable timeframe or avoiding wrong investments.
1190  Other / Archival / Re: I hid the dust under the rug - it means I cleaned the apartment on: March 07, 2023, 11:23:11 AM
It looks like a straight forward action to delete these posts. You didn't share the threads that were moved, but this should have been acted on.

Call it a tantrum, an inadequate reaction, or whatever you want, but after such a VOMIT MODERATION, I don’t want to do anything else here. Keep collecting garbage further, creating the illusion of moderation. That's all I wanted to say.
Do not worry about your accuracy too much; one accurate report is worth many inaccurate reports.

Adequately handled reports are a motivation to report more, but we would try to focus on the action and not the result.
If in thousands of reports you've only had a handful of issues, doesn't seem like a reason to quite sending out reports.
1191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ras Al Khaimah Government announces a purpose built crypto free zone on: March 06, 2023, 08:23:54 PM
"RAK Digital Assets Oasis' unique lifestyle proposition will support companies with robust, innovation-enabling adoption frameworks, advisory and professional services, hybrid workspaces, accelerators and incubators, sandboxes, access to funding, and an environment that encourages entrepreneurs to imagine, create, and evolve."

The part about access to funding caught my eye in the article and I would be very interested to see how that works.
Ever since the death of ICOs, devs has been having issues accessing finding for their, more often than not, shit projects. If there comes a hub where one can easily access funds to push their ideas out, it would be a welcome assistance and would be popular among the crypto community.

I doubt the process would be easy at all. Regulating a constantly growing crypto market and vetoing them to determine which deserves funding and assistance is a difficult task.
1192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Mini private key format on: March 06, 2023, 08:08:40 PM
I'm not aware of any particular reason for this distinction. Most likely it's for identification, just how segwit addresses, legacy addresses and even compressed and uncompressed private keys start with a particular character(s).

You could also wait for other members who may have more appropriate answers to respond, if there is such answer.
1193  Other / Off-topic / Re: Now ready for Bitcoin. on: March 06, 2023, 08:03:40 PM
Just checked your initial thread and I can totally relate to that situation.
Lack of electricity is one of the major issues limiting citizens of developing and under developed Nations and negatively affecting SME growth in those areas.

The forum does not count as an enterprise, but one needs to be online to be able to read through and learn. Congratulations on fixing your electricity issue and using an environmentally safe solution.
1194  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Their Involvement in dex projects valid or invalid on: March 06, 2023, 10:26:37 AM
If Yes, is it right to bring in venture capital into a decentralized crypto project? Wouldn't this make the name 'decentralized' of a project invalid?
The type of investors does not determine the the of asset that it is. Anyone is free to buy Bitcoin, that doesn't affect the decentralization of Bitcoin.

Also, I have seen posts about some saying that Bitcoin is the only true decentralized project, how valid is this? Out of like, thousands of crypto projects we have in this space, how is it that only Bitcoin is fully decentralized?
Bitcoin is the only currency which has a anonymous creator who cannot effwct changes arbitrarily on the network. Everything done is happens through consensus and must be accepted by majority.
1195  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Consistency But don't give up. on: March 06, 2023, 10:21:56 AM
Well, as a beginner at bitcointalkz, or for you who just started new, you've gotta try as much as (basically everyday) to keep sharing contents or making eligible posts with also commenting on other people's contents in order to grow your status.
As a beginner here you have to read as much as you can inorder to learn much faster. This is the reason for the cool down time between posts, which reduces as one advances in rank.
If you keep churning out low quality posts, you only add to your activity and maybe add yourself to a couple of users' ignore list.

When you share your contents here and it is very valid and formidable, people begin to ask questions that could lead to them commending your efforts or contents, by so doing you earn merits from encouraging people.
If you've not learnt anything to share, you would only create spa mega threads and earn no merits for that.
1196  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginners - Keep your rooms clean, keep your backups ready to use & bring away on: March 05, 2023, 06:24:31 PM
To be doubly safe during an emergency, have an alternate back up spot which is in a separate location.

So if you somehow cannot access the first one due to a natural disaster or some other event, you always have the second one to rely on and access your funds.
1197  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is a P2P exchange? on: March 05, 2023, 06:16:49 PM
To understand how P2P can work in the proper manner;
• The one selling bitcoins has their personal, non custodian wallets linked up to their account (which was opened without the need for KYC).
• They are matched up to a seller or chose a pair from the available sell orders,
• Buyer and seller discuss payment option to go with and decide on the most convenient,
• Seller creates a smart contact transaction which releases the funds to the buyer's wallet once seller receives the fiat payment.

Some exchanges could tweak some actions, but that's the general idea. What binance does is just another form of regular centralized transaction with Binance mediating between buyer and seller and holding the funds at every point during the trade.

It's all a marketing prop, just like coinbase custodian wallet imitation.
1198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Matt Corallo advocating for censorship on: March 05, 2023, 06:32:26 AM
Can't the use of Tor somehow be detected? In my experience accessing casinos, it can. Couldn't the same thing happen in this case?
AFAIK, that would be possible, just as coin mixed and joined transactions can be detected. But, you would not have any trouble running a node through Tor, Bitcoin is privacy inclined and encourages users to resist censorship of any form.
1199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: March, 20, 2023 is Bisq Market Day! on: March 05, 2023, 06:06:47 AM
Though it is secure and its gives privacy to it users, Defi hacks has been increasing since 2020.Also is not suitable for beginners because their limited knowledge in Trading (like Historical graph of previous prices and some others).
• DeFi and decentralized exchanges are two different sectors, hacks in DeFi does not mean vulnerability in exchanges like bisq. Also, CEXes have shown lots of vulnerability to hacks and breaches resulting in loss of funds or personal details.

• There are platforms that give such information and one can use that as a guide for trades. But it is overall difficult to trade using a P2P platform.
1200  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Misinformation about crypto (bitcoin). on: March 05, 2023, 05:19:46 AM
and what gives me more confidence about it is that I found out that most establishment and government are into it, an it's been blend into their financial system.
Not many governments have blended Bitcoin into their financial system, at best majority have either made it legal, or not yet determined what it is, but allowing it to be traded by their citizens.

As a decentralized asset Bitcoin should not depend on validation from a centralized body, and I am always wary when the government wants to integrate Bitcoin into their system, but it is a means if adoption considering that many have grown to trust the systems they have known for a longtime and would be more partial to Bitcoin if their government is into it.
