The defendant (shooter) stated that japanese guy/boy was 'moving erratically' and did not "freeze".

Interesting edit.

Not that I would claim it as a good shoot, just that the media tends to present it as a dude just randomly taking down trick-or-treaters.

Quote from: wikipedia
After the trial, Peairs told the press that he would never again own a gun. A 2013 source reported that he had lost his home and his supermarket job following the shooting and was living in a trailer park.

While not guilty in a criminal sense, still held liable for shooting an innocent.

Quote
"There was no thinking involved. I wish I could have thought. If I could have just thought," Bonnie Peairs said.

Think twice before pulling the trigger or calling for a shot.

EDIT: The SEC press conference was taken positive by the market, huh? No mean words against crypto.
Now time to fuck over the bears.

I see Ant’s

Every decently sized green candle is countered by sellwalls popping up out of nowhere.
I find this pretty tiring. Bulls, it's time to fuck over some bears.

EDIT:
Since my government dropped taxation on trading crypto for crypto, i could trade this easily with 2% of my stash (peanuts, but still makes me more sats), but something in my guts tells me i should not. Almost pulled the trigger at $49.200-ish numbers, but unsure of how low to set buy targets.
Opinions?

Here is my 2c about that "purple" posts and shooting those who went past them.
In short, it is idiotic, imho.
Your idiot opinion has been noted.
...good luck...

Won't need luck.

If there's any intruders stupid enough to trespass on posted land, in Texas, ignore the warning shot, and keep advancing, I won't be calling the police to the property.

I'll be calling the coroner.

You have absolutely no idea how things work out in the country, do you?

Fuck off you absolutely sheltered statist cuck.

I like rubber bullets best.
Sure, they aren't very precise, but you can still punch the intruder a little until you grab the hot rifle in case he won't back off Cool

Good news at the Omicron reseearch front!

Also, i came across data that shows that the virus replicates massively in the upper respiratory tract, much less in the alveolae.
This is the explanation for the increased R0 as well as for the decreased severity of the disease. It just spreads better because there is much more viral load near the "exits" (mouth, nose), while life threatening cytokine storms are avoided, because coughing and sneezing effectively takes care of getting rid of the virus, like in a common cold.
On the other hand, vaccines generate antibodies that work best at tissues connected to the blood vessels, for example the colon and the alveolae. That's the reason for the increased number of omicron breakthrough infections as well, compared to alpha and delta variants.

I didn't find the twitter source (yet), i read it on the smartphone while on the road today.

EDIT: Here's a link to the original finding (HK)
https://www.med.hku.hk/en/news/press/20211215-omicron-sars-cov-2-infection

But here's some other findings, which suggests a death rate of 0.053% (compared to 0.5% in previous globally circulating variants).

https://twitter.com/pieterstreicher/status/1469743320092102659

Just my opinion, but it seems like i will be looking to get infected with Omicron in Jan/Feb, in the face of a national vaccine mandate.
Now it would make sense to support the healthcare system and hospitals while letting Omicron run through the population(s) naturally.

About these purple "no trespassing" markings, can't this be used by someone to get away with murder? You drag someone inside the fence, you shoot him dead, and then claim he was trespassing and did not respond to verbal warnings and warning shots. How would the authorities in the relevant USA territories deal with this?

Shooting trespassers is not actually legal. However, the truth of the matter is that if you have any amount of land, you could make the body disappear and that would probably be that.

You get better chances with a little help of our animal friends...

So hogs won’t eat everything?

That's where i got the original idea from. Great movie, too.
Fun fact: The blonde guy in the scene is Goldie, a UK based jungle/drum'n bass pioneer, who helped a lot establishing the genre in the mainstream (and charts), co-founded "Metalheadz" Label, which was one foundation of today's common drum'n bass, evolving out of the Jungle genre.
I think his breakthrough track was "inner city life".

Thick fog is actually beautiful, if you are outside of it.

How high can those damned things fly?

5000-6000m above sea level.
In the EU it is allowed to fly drones privately no more than 120m above the ground, if you're in a "green" zone (which is out of urban areas, generally).
I cheated and made it 200m this time, since the air was free of any traffic (flightradar.com). I temporarily switched off the transponder that broadcasts my drone's registered ID to avoid any legal consequences, albeit highly unlikely in that situation.

EDIT: The mountain tops in the back are over 2000m ASL, i was taking off from about 800m ASL (which was the top height of the fog, basically).

EDIT2: Ideally, you would do shots like this using a DSLR on a tripod, using very long exposure times with darkening filters. There are only a couple of places for getting that "floating" effect when shot from the ground. I could write a small book about all that, but the key to incredible fog photography is by blurring the fog, while keeping the landscape crispy sharp. Since the thick fog is moving dead slowly, you need times of at least 30 secs to start to recognize the effect. A drone can't stay a 100% steady in the air that long. Would probably give decent results from lower limits, but the "liquid" effect you get on the fog from far longer exposure times is just priceless.

Just google "fog long exposure"

Me, I wasn't that lucky unfortunately so I'll just stay here for a while. I have raised all my sell orders from ~50k to 80k a while ago (some WOers clairvoyant granny's prediction remember?  Grin).

I think it was 600Watt?

You see OOM.  Your memory is not that bad.  I had not recalled the meaning of the "clairvoyant granny" referent until you mentioned 600watt, and now my memory has been refreshed in that direction too.

Yes, it got better, and i'm working hard to improve it.
In this case i made a note in a text file, which i came across several times within the last months. That certainly helps to keep some information for longer.
I think i even remember last time i tried to recall 600Watt, when i failed. This time it just popped up in my mind.

Working memory is generally used for different tasks than storing/reminding simple, single-associated informations/relations, for example repeating and summarizing sentences and stories, making plans and meeting decisions, getting an overview of a situation/process, as well as reminding vocabulary. I spend a lot of time in dictionary software when writing replies, because i struggle to find the right expression although i actually know (but can't recall) it. It's just not "there" when you need it, most of the time.
It's still unthinkable to write and maintain source code, which was a big part of my dayjob before i got the fucking flu that triggered all this.

Both short- and longterm memory have both improved to satisfying degrees over time, thanks to good therapists and regular exercise.

oh well...

Don't put me to fault here, JJG.
A close friend of mine had a very disturbing, traumatizing experience two decades ago.
I can only tell so much that one of our friends in his bathroom and a toilet brush were involved.
Trust me, you don't want to know and i don't want to recall the images i made up in my mind too often when he told me the story.
Only thing i can say is that i have to think of this certain event whenever i see things on a thin stick.
So, yes, i'm sorry but my subconsciousness made me go there...  Angry

This time PlanB isn’t on point anymore, but I expected him to fall of the rails sooner or later with the S2F chart… it still is an interesting model, but nothing follows an exact model….

I recall PlanB said that a model is a model because it will break for sure at some point in time.
He was about sure that S2F will break next cycle, maybe even within the currrent one.
So, seems he was right in the end.

My doc once told me to use 50-100cm of very thick electric cables (like the ones that run into a house) instead of a baseball bat. He said the bat slips down the bone and doesn't crack it, while the installation cable winds around bones and makes sure they crack nicely (also seems to hurt a bit more). Trusting my doc on this and got myself some fat cables from my electrician friend Grin

OMG I guess you're called psycodad for a reason...

My inquiring mind now torments itself about the question if it is because I seek to break bones of a criminal burglar looking to steel my valuables or if it is because I see a doctor that also gives unconvential security advice in the first place ??

Actually, I am named after Alfred Bundys western hero, though it comes from a time when logins were restricted to 8 chars, hence the omission of the grammatically correct ch.

Everything that's behaving like a spring does even better. The floret (thin sword for fencing) makes use of this effect.
Any thin, springy stick made of steel will work. It's the whiplash-type acceleration that makes bones crack with less power effort.
Never tried a metal spring, like the ones used on big trampolines, but they should work as long as you are prepared for the hit along the length of the spring, when it's slapping back again. Once there was a "defense tool", which was basically a 1 foot long metal spring with a small iron ball at the opponents end. It got banned for a reason.

Me, I wasn't that lucky unfortunately so I'll just stay here for a while. I have raised all my sell orders from ~50k to 80k a while ago (some WOers clairvoyant granny's prediction remember?  Grin).

Also, nobody knows what's coming next. People are confused but not scared (yet). So I don't think we should expect some major selloffs soon.

Agree.
And... so far i've seen worse things before.

Yeah, this spring/summer dump to $29k for example. Let alone covid flash crash! Like real black swan events that would mindrust the shit out of you and your stash!  Grin

It'll have to go below $10k for me to mindrust it.
But that's proudhon's territory i'm stepping on now  Cheesy

Such down,
So dip,
Pray to Karhu and weep.

I'm praying that my lowest buy order at $44.500 gets filled today.
All the higher ones were already hit, catching the knife  Grin

I know it is tempting.. but you should try to stop yourself from those kinds of wishenings.

For me, it is pretty rare to get to the last buy order, so the closer that we get to my last 5-10 buy orders I start to get a little bit nervous... Of course, if we had gone up for 4x or 6.5x, then maybe it is not such a BIG deal to have several corrections along the way and to attempt to balance out some of the buy orders that had been stacking up (seemingly too much)... maybe I just have an ongoing preference for UP.. even though currently I have buy orders down to $20k, but I don't even really want anymore buy orders in the $40ks to get filled.. Of course, I am willing to tolerate such ongoing buying of BTC.. but still would prefer NOT to buy any more BTC in the $40ks.. make it stop, make it stop.. ..

Is it just me?

I gave it up already. It stops when it stops.
Wishful thinking didn't work for me, so probably the $44.5k will never get hit  Tongue

Moar pain!!! I'm not selling, we're not selling brethren! Bring it on bears, is it all you've got?  Cool

Whatever it takes, they haven't got enough for us all.

It seems that some entity is stubbornly selling despite the lack of bitcoin inflows to the spot exchanges.

A small nit: whales selling into their own walls is not actually selling.

Although I agree or at least resonate with most of your paranoid theories ( Wink ), this one never makes that much sense to me.  Why would the "whales" spend the money to do this.  Unless, of course, the whales are actually the exchanges themselves?

I am not questioning the validity of your theory.  I am saying I honestly do not understand it.  Can you elucidate?

Perhaps you should consider that maybe the whales only use exchanges to dump the price down while accumulating much greater amounts off-exchange at the lower prices they've created with their manipulation.

How long can they do this?
Until liquidity shock?
Then dump all BTC on spot and send the market into lower low regions?
Wait for all the hopeless to sell and buy OTC or from miners again?

EDIT: Will it go down forever, Laura?
