1341  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I'm receiving merit abuse reports in my talk merit ticketing system. on: April 28, 2018, 04:33:38 PM
Send it to a DT member who has the time to go through all of the tickets and tag the appropriate ones? And even if the people who reported are concerned about, just make sure that they remain anonymous by removing their name out..
1342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Can someone lead me to the progress in MEW dns issues? on: April 27, 2018, 11:21:37 PM
(even before you access your wallet, there is a small tutorial that says the same thing).
This thing was so annoying.... Angry

OP,how about metamask?
1343  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Liqui disgrace on: April 27, 2018, 11:17:45 PM
So liqui team is still ignoring everyone. I remember when they first launched, they had a lot of promotions here and there that attracted customers and their support wasn't that bad. But over time, especially in the last year, they've just gone to crap gradually.
Remember what happened to poloniex? Same thing is happening to every other exchange.

I think it's fair for you to at least demand a response from them, instead of constantly having your tickets closed and ignored.

Their deposits and withdrawals were always problematic, a lot of people have stuck deposits or withdrawals with Liqui since last year that are unresolved. And if there was ever a problem with them you know for sure that you're not going to get assistance from the support. You're right, it's best to stop storing funds and using Liqui if you are still doing so. There are just so many issues and so little effort put into resloving them by the Liqui team.
Even if he demands it,nothing would happen. It may make his case even worse, harsh behaviour doesn't work well in the online world when your money is at stake. Better be patient and calm. Works everytime.

@OP: Liqui's account here has also not been online since like 8 months.
Try contacting them here:
telegram: https://telegram.me/liqui
twitter: https://twitter.com/Liqui_Exchange
And here: https://liqui.freshdesk.com/

Good luck!
1344  Other / Meta / Re: Solution to stop Newbie-Jr.Member spamming on: April 27, 2018, 11:07:25 PM
Yes, but it also can be altered, just check this recent post here on the meta board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2828892.0
A shit-poster merit-begger obtaining 50 merits for free, as a shameless act of farming.
I don't like to repeat myself, but I truly believe we are in a need of some "report merit abuse" button in each profile section. I am sure this will be a great tool to improve the merit system here, due to the farmer's activities and the shameless acts of many.
To pursue it, thread by thread means too much work for all. It is better to attack directly the fount, meaning, the profile, of the scammers.
Reporting merit abuses to mods won't help because they are already heavy-loaded with the forum's work. Reporting merit abuses would make things for the worse.

Anyhow, theymos has made his statement saying that merit abusers shall not benefit in the long run, their merit would decay and its already easy enough to find out merit abuses.

Some one wrote a code on it,to find merit abusers and he apparently found more than 1000 of them: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3402060.0

Don't worry about the merit system, its here to stay and its working pretty well if you ask me,don't upset yourself over some idiots. They'll go away. Because they don't know much about bitcoin.
1345  Other / Meta / Re: For forum nostalgics - how data show forum evolution on: April 27, 2018, 11:00:56 PM
I do agree that posting these breakdowns of statistics have started after the merit system implementation, but isn't that what this system is set up for? Merit should incentivize people to do this, and it happens.

People putting time and effort in creating these threads and posts stimulates others to do so as well, because effort and time are being rewarded with merit, and that's something they are rightfully chasing now.

Shitposts won't be rewarded with merit, so these will eventually fade, where quality and time consuming posts will get rewarded, we'll be seeing these more. Result is a quality boost in the long run.
Trust me shitposts will take a lot of while to fade away. Atleast until Merit abusers don't fade away, shitposts won't. What is worse than shitposts is that people get merited for an application to a bounty campaign....
But anyhow,I myself really do like all the new statistics that people are coming up with, and hope this trend would continue for a long while ,its just that sometimes it gets annoying to see huge longass posts.
1346  Other / Meta / Re: Against newbie topics on the Bitcoin discussion board - again... on: April 27, 2018, 10:50:25 PM
Locking topic is a kind of solution for the short term. Unfortunately newbies don't care about existing or non-extisting topics if they need to grow their post count, some of them post wherever they want (even offtopic things or one-liners) but some of them don't mind to open topics for questions that already have existing topic...
Mods usually go on a thread thrashing streak and thrash all the unwanted threads,so the post count would eventually decrease. If you see such threads, and you will, just report the first post and make sure to tell in the report text editor that the thread needs to be thrashed due to unwanted spam, and maybe even PM some mods. Its a hectic task,so yeah.
1347  Other / Meta / Re: Mark as Read if Seen in Preview on: April 27, 2018, 10:46:15 PM

I'm not sure if we actually are doing the same thing. I'm referring to when you read a thread through the preview-mode.

I'll be typing up a response to a post, and then someone new will post in that same thread before I get to click "post". When I click post I get the message :

"Warning - while you were typing 3 new replies have been posted. You may wish to review your post."

Then, when I go to my Watchlist the thread appears as unread, even though I had just seen the new posts in Preview, and after clicking "post".
I believe we are not doing the same thing.
Anyhow, why do you go to the watchlist when you're already on your thread? Watchlist is for watching the topics when you're not viewing anything and to check around if anyone has replied to the topics you're interested in.
When you get the warning message, only your current thread reloads, and the watchlist is in assumption that you haven't read those replies which is why the thread yet remains on your watchlist .
1348  Other / Meta / Re: Members in this forum are abusing the merit system on: April 26, 2018, 11:33:52 PM
I don't like paid trolls spamming FUD and make no secret about it or miners for screwing us over for $55 in fees
not so long ago but I am a developer and tend to post in that forum and this moderator has made it that no one
can get a word in without being part of the team and sucking up to each other so most people get chased away by him
and I  intend on doing something about it.
Most *intelligent* people don't like FUDs. You want to help the community, sure go ahead. But taking a dig at a mod is not going to help you nor the community. Why don't you sort things out with achow101,I am sure he has something to say on the issue.
Not sure where you read that but I confess, oh yes, after the 3rd ban by the nazi with me returning to carry on using another name and letting people know they got the message that I won't put up with the censorship here, i made no secret about it so I kind of guess they stopped banning me now after noticing my other comments on other
forums on the web about the censorship going on here.

By the way Anti-Cen = Anti-Censorship, you know standing up for your freedom of speech and privacy that they say around here is so
important to Bitcoin and the spin-offs but that's not what I am seeing or reporting.
If you're banned 3 times, you're clearly ban evading which again is against the rules.. You might want to go to r/btc to help the community because once you're perma banned here, there is no coming-back.
1349  Other / Meta / Re: Against newbie topics on the Bitcoin discussion board - again... on: April 26, 2018, 08:49:47 PM
We did see a lot of topics being locked in the past couple of weeks. So that's a start.
But if somehow we can prevent the Boards from newbie spammers, mods will have more time for the other parts of the forum
The only reason why the newbie jail/whatever is not being implemented is that, legitimate users are not able to do much with so many restrictions. A lot of them don't know English and a lot of them don't know that something called bounty campaigns exist. The spam has comparatively reduced. Its not less now,but it has reduced. Reporting should work out just fine.
1350  Other / Meta / Re: I realized my mistake and I apologize on: April 26, 2018, 12:22:28 PM
After I was banned, I read several times, both in English and Russian.
P.s. If the rules would have been in Ukrainian - I'd read them too Smiley
Oh,weren't you too early for school Undecided
1351  Other / Meta / Re: I realized my mistake and I apologize on: April 26, 2018, 12:15:06 PM
At the moment, you are absolutely right, most of my posts are the company's bounty. I came to the world of crypto-currency in March 2018 and unfortunately I do not have the knowledge to help the community.

That that I know and I can prompt - I tried to do it in a local branch.

Unfortunately, when I violated the rules of the forum, I did not know that this is a gross violation and for this is so severely punished. I'm not asking you to clean up the ban, I just ask you to relax the punishment, put in a temporary one. Let it be even long, nevertheless it will give me a chance to improve and live according to the rules of the forum
I can't do anything, only admins can. And goodluck with convincing them.
Have you even read the rules?
1352  Economy / Services / Re: [joms123] Copy & paste without citing a source on: April 26, 2018, 11:58:03 AM
BURNED. You've been tricked of some precious word of somebody. That guy is actually a shitposter as you can review his account and old posts.  Grin Grin Grin
Hmmm...Yeah. My bad that I didn't do any background check, can't help it,I am a lazy ass. But don't worry,I'll keep an eye, especially in my thread.

But hey,in my defense,it looked like he was actually explaining it by himself but apparently not. Still,I apologize for that laziness of mine.

What's done is done,he's banned now:
Code:
Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #1841711

he did not even rephrase...
Good catch mate.... but just little late pugman already awarded him Smiley

Yeah this definition is pretty straight forward and most laziest one like he said.

But pugman was looking for this answer? Really? Sad
To me question was having three parts "What is lightning network? What's its role and what does it do?" i thought it should be answered to the point and separately

Anyway next time will go for the lazy answer :p
Doesn't matter now that I merited him,I still have a few left, and I'll probably be a little more stricter in handing out merits from now on.. I wasn't looking for that answer but I liked the way he had explained it only to find out that it was a copy/paste. Undecided

pugman next question please?
Sure, let me first go through the answers, and get one for y'all.
He/she is a serial copy paster, didn't even have to go too deep in to the posts to come to that inevitable conclusion. I reported a couple of the ones they got merit for to hopefully avoid anyone else giving merit to them undeservedly.
Do not worry anymore,he's perma-banned.
1353  Other / Meta / Re: I realized my mistake and I apologize on: April 26, 2018, 11:45:27 AM
You were banned permanently and copy-pasting users are not given a second chance. So your apology won't do any wonders, unless you did anything to help the community which I am pretty sure you didn't.
Rather you just spent your entire time posting for bounties crap.
1354  Other / Meta / Re: Our very own sMerit Network Picture on: April 25, 2018, 10:12:30 PM
Actually, this is overwork in a sense, since I need to scrape bits and pieces of free time in order to do it. Basically, I skim it off family time and sleep. Shouldn’t make a habit though I suppose. I’m already getting complaints …
Your wife allows you to do that? Lucky.  Undecided
1355  Other / Meta / Re: Mod, please check new plagiarism: Reporting copy/pasting, please permban on: April 25, 2018, 03:34:00 PM
User joms123 has been caught* copy pasting, please perma ban.
Lightning Network

This terms explains everything in a clever way, so I’ll simply reiterate for the laziest who don’t feel like clicking a link:

You and I sign a contract.

As long as we both respect it, no one else needs to know we have this contract. But if I try to screw you, you want to be sure there’s someone who can force me to desist.

That’s Lightning Network: the contract is a smart contract, the enforcer is the blockchain. As long as no one breaks the law, millions of smart contracts can be stipulated simultaneously off chain, thus reducing greatly the amount of congestion on chain, but as soon as there’s a contentious, the smart contract can be broadcasted on the network (classic BTC transaction) and the power of blockchain will fix the issue. As simple as that. It’s just the translation of common practices into crypto-space.

Your answer is just a copy paste from this website: https://www.quora.com/What-is-Lightening-Network-and-what-does-it-do-Which-cryptocurrency-stands-to-gain-the-most-from-this-technology . You should at least cited their website as your source.

Apparently he has been copying a lot: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3345897.msg35564087#msg35564087

Since the lightning network is becoming more popular now,a lot of people are really confused on what actually it is.  So here's a question about it:

Question: What is lightning network? What's its role and what does it do?

I am looking for a simple answer or basically in layman's terms,so that people can actually understand.

I am eagerly waiting for the next question.
Oh crap,I almost forgot..
Don't post just because you have to earn a merit. I am seeing a lot of one/two liners just being rephrased from third party websites. Please understand what you're writing. Or just don't do anything rather.

You have got to be kidding me.. I gave you(joms123) the benefit of the doubt, and it kinda screwed me over. I can't take back the merit I gave to joms123 but you're getting banned.
Thanks theyoungmillionaire  for bringing me this to attention.
1357  Other / Meta / Re: Our very own sMerit Network Picture on: April 25, 2018, 12:30:53 PM
How do you get the time to do all this. Really I want to know.. How does anyone not laze their ass off the entire day Undecided.
1358  Other / Meta / Re: Application for a merit source on: April 25, 2018, 12:28:03 PM
it took about an hour to read one of your post and another hours to understand it. You're a good man with outstanding writing skill. I need to learn a lot from you. LoL. And with your long membership and deep understanding about the forum/community, I believe you would be able to be a merit source. And yes, we need more merit source in this good community. Good luck with your application and wish you the best.
Well, thank you very much  Kiss. I don't what to say because I am flabbergasted to a huge extent.
Wishing you good luck with your application, but I'll add just a little note here. Hope it helps you to get a quicker action to your application Smiley
If you want to be a merit source:
 1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.
I see you have quoted quite good posts but a bit old ones, tho. So I just wanted to point out the Theymos requirements.
Oh my good lord, how did I miss it Sad Embarrassed. Thank you very much for pointing it out,I'll get on to redo this entire thread within a few hours. Again, thank you very much.
1359  Other / Meta / Re: Members in this forum are abusing the merit system on: April 24, 2018, 10:10:14 PM

Calm down mate. You are talking it too personally.

This has been going on for months, three bans now and you should see my message box.

I do not pretend to be happy about much of what is going on with Bitcoin but when I present my case without getting all abusive
then I expect a level playing field, not some moderator acting like a nazi who's sending in "Brown nose boys" looking
for merits.

Are you seriously ban evading?
1360  Other / Meta / Re: I have no merits to send?? on: April 24, 2018, 10:07:26 PM
Doing some simple math,I realized you just received like 10 initial sMerits(assuming you really have run out of sMerits). That's weird if you really have run out of sMerits. Do you care enough to check again?
