1361  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can newbies know when it's a good track of conversation on: January 08, 2023, 09:49:55 PM
can i make suggestions in another place that is not this board.
Forgot to add in my previous reply that there are a couple of boards which have restrictions, where newbie cannot post.

For the serious discussion board; you need to be at least a Jr member with one merit,
For Ivory tower child board, you need to be at least full member.
Investigations child board also has restrictions for low ranked members.
1362  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What Are Some Of The Most Efficient Ways To Invest My Bitcoin Earnings? on: January 08, 2023, 09:03:35 PM
Is it a waste of time to try to invest my earnings no matter how small into bitcoin at this stage or is it something that only pays off after a one time big cash investment?
There's no amount that is too small to invest in Bitcoin, you just need to hold long enough. And when you steadily DCA you should eventually get enough Bitcoin that would be substantial to hodl.
Bitcoin does not only pay off after a "one time big cash investment", small, regular investments have the same effect and is very useful for those that do not have a large chunk of money stores away.
1363  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can newbies know when it's a good track of conversation on: January 08, 2023, 08:10:35 AM
I'm new here and i dont know anything of this forum, since few day i registered here i have being clicking everywhere and being reading any post that i see,
You registered yesterday, that doesn't count as a few days and it's not time enough to have become acquainted with how the forum works. Keep reading across the various boards focusing on stickie threads (those are threads that are pinned to the top of each board) and with time you will begin to learn how it works.

Improving your use of English can also be helpful to entering discussions and understanding what others are discussing. You can also check for a local board to join to help you communicate better with your community. You can find them from scrolling down at the home page.

can i make suggestions in another place that is not this board.
Yes you can, if your suggestion is relevant to that board.
Each board has a slight description under it which tells what sort of posts should be made there.
1364  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Personal Beginner Guides - Various Topics - Quick Access Thread on: January 08, 2023, 06:54:04 AM
What's with the color splashes? Your thread would look much better if you just used the default forum text and text background colours and would be easier to read for everyone.
Also, you can specify in the title that it's a list of your personal threads and not a general beginner's guide from different users.
1365  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using a Crypto Payment Gateway vs Setting Up a Wallet Manually for Business on: January 07, 2023, 07:17:13 PM
<snip>
Be careful about lists posted by random links. The website you shared puts bitpay as the top option for a crypto payment processor, and with my little research on it, that cannot be further from the truth and I would advise that you avoid using them.

You would be better off searching here on the forum and following discussions centered around that topic.
About the better option, as mentioned above, it depends on what you intend to achieve through the addition of crypto as a payment option;
• If you're scared of the volatility of Bitcoin, a payment processor should be the leading option,
• If you're looking to stack up your portfolio, receiving crypto like Bitcoin through the lightening network to your personal wallet is the better option.
1366  Other / Meta / Re: Can not quote to a post on: January 07, 2023, 06:57:40 PM
You probably ignored the altcoin discussion board that's why it says " is no longer viewable by you."
This is the most plausible reason why OP cannot quote that reply.

I just went through the motions of ignoring the altcoin discussion board and then using the link in this thread to access that post and try to quote it; I am hit with the exact same error message.

On trying to create a reply, the message box opens, but I didn't try to send a post to know if I don't get an error message back as well.
1367  Other / Meta / Re: My contribution to a near-perfect Merit-based ranking system for Bitcointalk on: January 07, 2023, 06:49:48 PM
Only post with little to no fault/issue should earn high merit. We can aswell grade all the posts and give them the merit they deserve(whether high or low merit), meaning most/all will be going through merit system in order to be graded rather than being outrightly ignored/neglected.
There is no guideline on what post deserves merit and what amount of merits should be allocated to posts, with that said you can only grade posts and give it the merits you think it deserves as it is subjective to you, same applies to other users. A universal scale or consensus based opinion of what constitutes quality would not be effective with the currency system.

Already theymos clearly mentioned if you're willing to merit a post then you can and it has cap value of 50 per user so it stops the abuse
It is capped at 50 per user for every 30 days.
1368  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why I dont worry too much about using closed source wallet on: January 06, 2023, 03:20:49 PM
Is because the chances of getting hacked by the company or other is extremely low.
Your argument is flawed from the start, but why gamble with the perceived low risk when you can simply use an open source alternative at no extra cost?

Assuming the company start to scam people and do something nasty. do you know how many trustwallet users are? 10 Million +.
People quickly would report that their funds would dissapear and you would have enough time to transfer your funds to other wallet with your seed.
Besides the fact that scripts can be created to simultaneously wipe user funds above xxxamount, If hypothetically, the situation you described above was correct, there is no certainty that your wallet would not be among those looted first.

You put your funds and privacy at risk when using such platforms this way and have no incentive to do so.
1369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it advisable to memorize seed phrase? on: January 06, 2023, 07:07:20 AM
This cannot be overemphasized; do not attempt to memorize your seed phrase. It is sometimes called a mnemonic phrase, but was never intended to be retained in the head. If you rely on your memory as the only means of backup for your seedphrase, you can consider them lost already. Regardless if you turn it into a song or ask someone to help you with remembering it.

But not everyone are financially buoyant to afford the services of a deposit box.
If you own some Bitcoins you can afford a piece of paper or better still a book where you can write it down on. To avoid the risk of a fire or natural disaster, you can store it in two, separate, secure locations.
1370  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can trustwallet be hacked. can the owners take money of all the users? on: January 05, 2023, 03:37:21 PM
What if the developer install malware  on their new update.
and millions of people will download their app then they could take the funds of the users?
As an open source software, it is possible to verify the codes behind the platform and vulnerabilities like malwaes would be spotted.
Of course users don't always verify the code or signatures from sources where they download sensitive apps and could fall victim.

Never trust; Verify.
1371  Economy / Economics / Re: How do cryptocurrencies affect Global Economy? on: January 05, 2023, 03:25:05 PM
However, some countries that are subject to economic crisis's or international sanctions have exploited these digital currencies and used them in their favor within controls
Creating your own CBDC as a nation and backing it by any asset you wish or running it on any system does not impact the cryotocurrency market. It is just a way for governments to try and benefit from the blockchain technology.
Nigeria also created theirs during the peak of the Bitcoin revolution and it has been a failure so far, while Bitcoin continues to grow in popularity.

Is it true that cryptocurrencies will weaken the global financial system? That system which is managed by countries with the strongest economies with their currencies that has gained wide acceptance to be traded in financial markets all over the world.
Not in the near future. Bitcoin is still a budding technology and as an alternative currency for nt weaken any of the major currencies. In the distant future when it's target market continues to grow and global adoption as well, it could become more dominant.
1372  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: age 47 is it too late or not to invest in bitcoin.? on: January 05, 2023, 02:50:59 PM
I thought most of the people who invest in bitcoin were young people, apparently not.
Well, even if the majority of investors are younger people, that doesn't limit you in any way. You decide your own investments and actually qualify as a part of the younger generation in certain definitions.

What really matter is how young you are at heart and how open you are to new technologies.
1373  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - what price would you sell? on: January 05, 2023, 01:34:15 PM
The idealistic reply would be not to look at Bitcoin solely as an asset to be exchanged to give real world value (fiat), but also as a possible currency which allows one to spend privately and through a decentralized means. This way you would not only need to wait for a certain price to 'sell off', but you would have an asset that can be used for any reason you would need fiat for.

I am thinking of just accumulating till 2029/2030 which should be the next bull run after 2025.

Hopefully by this point I will have close to 1 full Bitcoin and the price will be at least $250k which would then be worth selling to me.
That's a practical plan and the more patient you can be, the more orofits you can earn.
Also, balance your Bitcoin/altcoin portfolio to favour the asset you place more value on.
1374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Digital dollar a threat to Bitcoin ? on: January 05, 2023, 12:45:54 PM
Rather than spamming irrelevant articles across the forum you could add some extra information or thoughts you have on the topic it discusses. That would make more for a discussion than simply posting a line and a one line follow up.

There's also a press board where you can post links, but only reserved for "Notable press hits".
1375  Economy / Reputation / Re: Change of Name: igehhh has been Changed to Igebotz as New Year Gift on: January 05, 2023, 11:41:52 AM
Honestly I don't understand why change of name need to be congratulated
Some name changes where the user requested based on sentimental reasons and which lingers before it is approved could call for some sort of congratulations.

Theymos' data dump contains usernames instead of userIDs, and I can't really search them that way.
How effective would a list of all name changes be? Of course, not those where privacy would be a concern and the user would not want their previous display name linked to their new one.
1376  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies do not be fooled by developers on: January 05, 2023, 10:23:03 AM
I have read series of posts advising us to do our research very well before investing in any project but as newbie, most of us don't even know what to research. What are we to look into before getting to know if a project is cool or scam?
The help needed by the cryptocurrency newbies is not to be caution but how to be cautious of what to invest into.
Telling a newbie that 99% of projects are scam is an advice.
Telling them that they should stick to established coins like Bitcoin is a good advice.
Telling them to do their own research is also a very good advice.

If you're interested in investing, you can also research on how to 'research' new projects. There are a number of helpful replies here on he forum, you should be able to find them and use the information.
1377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: At What Age You Got into Bitcoin and also Trading? on: January 04, 2023, 08:05:43 PM
Lots of bandwagon replies on this topic.

Age is a factor when discussing acceptance of new technologies or ways of doing things. This of course doesn't mean that the elderly are limited or incapable of learning new innovations, but they are more likely to stick to what they are familiar with and have a lower level of curiosity when compared to the younger generation.

The topic might not be very irrelevant to this board, but that doesn't make the observation wrong.
And OP, this would be better as a poll as users here might not want to reveal their age to the public.
1378  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: January 03, 2023, 09:45:29 PM
A tense goalless draw at the Emirates, which seems like a loss for Arsenal. The gunners have their 100% home record broken and Newcastle continue their fine form against top half of the table teams.

Arteta's men would feel some refereeing decisions went against them, particularly the addition of only 5 minutes, despite obvious time wasting strategy from Newcastle and a late handball call for Arsenal, which would have been a decisive penalty.

This was always expected to be a tough game and despite giving no goals, it didn't disappoint in action.
1379  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will 2023 be another up year for Bitcoin? on: January 03, 2023, 08:58:31 PM
Does 'UP' mean finishing the year at a higher price than at the beginning or does it mean having more uptrends during the year over downtrends? I'll assume it means the forner as it's much easier to calculate, but the pic doesn't give much information.

After analyzing the year 2023 from here, it is seen that Bitcoin will rise. But do you think bitcoin will be up or bitcoin down in 2023?
I haven't or cannot analyze the year, cause we're only three days into it, but we're already at or close to the bottom, so the likely direction we would he heading during the year is up, how high and for how long we would stay at a higher price cannot be predicted.
1380  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does money bring you security ? on: January 03, 2023, 10:52:45 AM
In my experience, a lot of rich people are living in anxiety and fear.
In my experience every poor person lives in anxiety of where the next meal would come from, or where to rest their head for the night.
Life has its anxieties and different circumstances can impact that relatively.
• Fame could make one more insecure about themselves,
• Money could make one a target for robberies and attacks (reason it's always said to not reveal that you own Bitcoin, cause it's suggested to be valuable by most),

This makes it all relative, but the reality is, with more money, you can afford to live in a now secure environment, drive more secure vehicles and possible afford a security detail to protect you and your family. All these makes one safer.
