Thinking about the growth problem, I was contemplating solutions that might be feasible. I began thinking about how we could evenly and fairly distribute hash power so that everyone is in a sub-p2pool that would benefit both them, and the bitcoin network at large. I imagine a system where the a miner's geolocation was determined, either using geoip services, or allowing the miner to specify their location, and then using that data to connect to others in the same graticule (1 degree x 1 degree area on the globe). If that graticule does not provide enough hashing power to produce blocks on a desired basis, then that subpool will connect with neighboring graticules. Each subpool is represented in the hash chain by a hash of all the graticules that the subpool serves. Subpools would have to determine if they should reconfigure themselves on a certain timescale to redistribute hashing power as needed. I know it sounds complicated, but I really think it would be an interesting solution to a unique problem.
I have two questions for you: 1- WHEN the P2Pool difficulty will be bad for small miners? When we reaches 1THash, 2THash, 4THash?! 2- This reallocation to sob-pools can be done automatically, right? Cheers, Thiago

Hi!
Litecoin P2Pool grow from ~400kH to 3500kH!!
Don't fall for another pool!! Because now Litecoin P2Pool have a huge subsidy to its miners, every day 200 LTC are donates to all Litecoin Miners! You just need to mine here to earn these donations!!
Come on! Join us!!
Cheers! Thiago

And I just find my first Devcoin block!! { "account" : "", "category" : "immature", "amount" : 5000.00000000, "confirmations" : 5, "txid" : "e8e9bc62d881f0a3fec6139c90c18eb41637188636545503222bf92a1dc09eea", "time" : 1329082503 }

P2Pool IS AWESOME!! With my P2Pool node I am mining for Bitcoins, Namecoins and now Devcoins! Also, I have P2Pool for Litecoin too... 9 in 24 hours. How's that smell? Not bad for a 230 GH/s pool. ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) Smells fresh money!! ^_^

Hi! I just "git pull" p2pool and I'm seeing: 2012-02-12 17:15:34.299531 > Error while calling merged getauxblock: 2012-02-12 17:15:34.299732 > Traceback (most recent call last): 2012-02-12 17:15:34.299992 > Failure: twisted.internet.defer.TimeoutError: Getting http://127.0.0.1:7333/ took longer than 5 seconds.
But my namecoind is running normally... Any thoughts?! Never mind...

Hi coretechs!
Can you share your "donation script" with us?!
I want to setup the same scheme for the Litecoin P2Pool miners...
Right now, I just put a cronjob to donate everyday the same amount, at the same time of day... But I would like to have the same behavior of your setup, I mean, send donations according to the balance, etc...
Thanks! Thiago
Sure, here you go: # p2pdonate.sh sleep `echo $(( $RANDOM % 1440 * 60))` ./bitcoind sendmany "p2p_donations" "$(GET http://forre.st:9332/patron_sendmany?total=`echo "(\`echo "(\\\`./bitcoind getbalance p2p_donations\\\`+0.5)/1"|bc|wc -m\`-1)"|bc`.0)" >> donation.log
This script assumes that you have bitcoind running as a server with an account called "p2p_donations" but it's easy enough to change. Just schedule it to run at midnight, the sleep command will delay the execution randomly up to 24hrs. It counts the number of digits in the whole number balance of the account and sends that many BTC, appending the transaction id to a log file. 0-9 balance - 1 BTC 10-99 balance - 2 BTC 100-999 balance - 3 BTC etc Disclaimer: *Run at your own risk. I take no responsibility for anything that happens if you run this code. It works on my computer but it may not work on yours.* Thank you!!! ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

I've been working on a self-contained network-provisioned bitcoind + namecoind + p2pool USB stick. I had horrible problems with bitcoind getting stuck for minutes at a time.
I came up with a solution, but it isn't pretty. I run bitcoind entirely out of RAM now.
I have precisely this setup working here... BTW, I also have Devcoin and Litecoin working... My USB stick have 8G... My machine have 1G of RAM... Cheers! Thiago

Don't know if it matters to Litecoin but, I'm using the latest P2Pool version (5250df6 = 0.8.5). Tomorrow I'll upgrade by Bitcoin connected to my P2Pool to the 0.6.0 rc1...

I like very much the idea behind Namecoin... The world needs a decentralized DNS. Don't know if it will be Namecoin but, who knows?!

CA-RAS!! Só tenho uma coisa a dizer... O P2Pool é IRADO!!! ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

Have no idea... lol

|
|
Acredito que:
cd litecoin_scrypt C:\Python27\python.exe setup.py build --compile=mingw32 install
Não deu certo este comando aqui?!
Mas onde dou esse comando no Windows? São dois comandos... Tem que rodar a partir de dentro do diretório que vc fez o download do P2Pool...

I just got a donation of 11 LTC ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Thanks a lot! You're welcome! Don't leave P2Pool!! ^_^

You talk great Holliday!
Plus, with P2Pool subsidy and its PPLNS scheme, maybe, the P2Pool can be as profitable as some 120% PPS schemes popping around...
BTW, how much needs to be donated to P2Pool subsidy to make it a "+120% like"?
Cheers! Thiago
Well block is 50 BTC so 0.2*50 = 10 BTC. 10 BTC per block. Simple account and, there's a lot!! 105% to P2Pool miners seems more feasible...
