1481  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BLOCKCHAIN account- Newbie - how to get one? on: January 01, 2023, 10:22:36 PM
SO - Neurotic.....i went into 'view' and what comes up is a LOAD of 'receiving' ( green colour ) and a few 'yellow' colours. What the...is that!!!!!

SO... TOTALLY CONFUSED.

What are they? i am now worried...i give the dodgy casino a address..which is useless so even if they were geninue...id still not get the monies!!

-  HERES what i was going to do.    Please just tell me, its right.

- I have ( already ) pressed, Receive ( following on from previous instructions from previous email ) , and an addreess comes up, as mentioned 7days...thanks for explaining that....i didnt put the amount in.  That ok>?      SO....i will take this address and give it too casino site ( which as mentioned i tried..and works...in that seems ok...but havent pressed the actual withdraw button ).

THATS IT.  yes? Ignore all those green and yellows addresses! in the View TAB.

All those addresses are yours, don't worry. Get the first green one and you're OK.
Or get the one from the Receive tab and you're most probably OK with that too (that address too is most probably in that big list)
1482  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BLOCKCHAIN account- Newbie - how to get one? on: January 01, 2023, 10:09:30 PM
I have just followed these instructions...easy enough..thanks..BUT....now what? you left off...where does the address i need come up...im just left with an open wallet? DO I NOW GO TO 'RECEIVE' AND in this wallet ( i click  recreate request?   theres an amouint there...but ignoring that...? do i just generate that address then? and then copy and paste it?  DO I NEED TO add amount AND WHAT ABOUT EXPIRES?   whats all that about?

( sigh! )  So- expires..shall i have it a week?  does it matter...say..the casino takes a week to send me the money....what happens?   what about keeping it so it never expires?

Note, i was going to try to withdraw one amount and if that works i would download a final amount..only few hundred as i say...but ..that ok?  i take it..need another line of address for that?  ( but would setup a 'new wallet' using same idea - that 'seed' you mentioned..ok to use that again?   walk before run here...just get 1 withdraw done.... SO, expires?  will i LOSE ANY BITS if it expires? or once in my wallet its there for good?

Easier: Do View->Show Addresses
Go to Addresses tab
Copy (CTRL-C) the first address from there and you're good. (it starts with 1, right?)

PS. In the "receive" area it's not the address that's expiring, it's the "request", and that doesn't matter much. However, working with the addresses tab can be easier for your peace of mind.

1484  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mining algorithm: improving efficiency? on: January 01, 2023, 09:48:52 PM
a delagated proof of work

Delegating to others means trusting them. Why would one miner or pool trust another miner or pool?! They're fiercely competing each other! Any miner would love to get an edge, even by not playing fair, in order to win the next block. Bitcoin is not meant to need trust in somebody else. That's why it still works.

Maybe I'm missing something, but this looks to me more about not taking into account the human factor (and the high chance some would try to cheat), than about cryptography.
1485  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price, January. $20000 or above possible? on: January 01, 2023, 09:41:03 PM
Is bitcoin getting back to $20000 in January or not?

While it is possible to get over 20k, it's hard to tell whether it will actually happen.
But if we do the math, getting there would be 25% up, if also take into the account the current sentiment, with topics telling with charts and numbers that going down to 9k is also possible, ... I add them up and I would be happy even if we end January at over 18k Wink or at least without going lower than 16k.
1486  Economy / Reputation / Re: 'Bitcointalk forum is going downhill because of dkbit98' - CoinPayCard.net on: January 01, 2023, 09:33:51 PM

I've tried to re-formulate one of your questions when this was in same guy's topic in Service Announcements.
His answer was weak, plus he started threatening that he'll lock the topic, so I didn't pay more attention to that topic.
I see now that he has more topics on his service and still trying to avoid some questions.

On this problem you're right (to pursue the truth) and his behavior is shady.

It's obvious to me that this member has before been registered in bitcointalk forum, maybe with some other failed or scam project.

It can very well be the case. I've seen another user too doing this type of service and spawning new topic one after another as soon as the questions have become difficult.

---
Thanks for bringing this back into attention. I've also edited my initial post there (I usually try to be nice/supportive for new businesses and this one is yet another one not deserving it).
1487  Economy / Reputation / Re: My ignore list got a Christmas cleanup on: January 01, 2023, 09:03:56 PM
Everything else is subjective reflections

This is the point you're completely right and you should never forget that. Whatever people may be telling, subjectivism is an important factor.
While it's hard fact that you were not proven as plagiarist (else your account would be gone), the people did make their own opinion on that matter (whether that's correct and reflecting reality or not, that's another matter).
So, no offense, but imho it won't help anyone to make a big deal of it, since, whether you like or not, in many cases it won't be easy to change that subjective bit. I may be wrong, but I think that this matter is best to remain buried in the past.

However, this is imho off topic and I would appreciate to not continue a/the dispute in here, since the idea of the topic was in Christmas spirit.

MJ chiar a castigat. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5427560.msg61511231#msg61511231

Fiindca cineva a scris undeva 2022 in loc de 2023.

Happy New Year, gang! May this new year make your wishes come true!

I've read about the couch, I didn't get to say a word on it yet though...
Congratulations, Gazeta! May this couch last at least as long as you like it!
It looks impressively versatile, although I prefer the "taller" couches, where I don't need extra pillows at my back.
I guess that this was the very last step of the renovation, so congratulations for that too!

how Romanians celebrated the end of the world (for those unaware yet, world has ended on December 12th, 2012) (Again, NeuroticFish may (or may not) confirm all these Smiley)

Um, I remember I've seen this or that back then on the topic, but in my head it never went past the meme stage... Hence I cannot really confirm much...
You may want to come with Romanian (and balcanic, at least) customs of blowing up our fingers and eyes at New Year's too, if we are on the stage of barbaric customs Grin
1491  Economy / Reputation / Re: My ignore list got a Christmas cleanup on: January 01, 2023, 12:09:44 PM
Inspired from NeuroticFish I am going to wipe my ignore list. Well the following was my ignore list LOL

Nice, although you had an oddly small list  Grin
And Ratimov, although I know his pasts, does have useful posts and topics imho, so unignoring him should be a plus.

Thank you OP for giving us all the idea of a Christmas clean up of our ignore lists  Smiley

I'm really glad that my idea was not that bad and helped others too Cheesy

Happy New Year!
1492  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Cumpara Bitcoin fara KYC: ATM-urile Bitcoin Romania care respecta anonimitatea on: January 01, 2023, 12:03:30 PM

Tables were always a "troubled" topic here.
And, as I also answered in the contest's topic too, the easiest approach/fix is to make a first row of underscores in order to offer enough spacing.

Now I'll write here the code too (I've also fixed some extra table tags which seemed to be there by mistake) :

1496  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Re-name Default-Wallet Name in Electrum? on: December 30, 2022, 09:48:25 PM
0. Make sure Electrum is closed
1. Find on your hdd the file called default_wallet
2. Rename that file
3. Run Electrum, use the file open dialog (either the Choose button, either File/Open) and open the newly renamed file.

Edit: if the Search doesn't help, you can also look for the wallet file as described in the help:

Where is the Electrum datadir located?
The data directory of Electrum is where wallet files, config settings, logs, blockchain headers, etc are stored.

On Windows:

Show hidden files
Go to \Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Electrum (or %APPDATA%\Electrum)

On Mac:

Open Finder
Go to folder (shift+cmd+G) and type ~/.electrum

On Linux:

Home Folder
Go -> Location and type ~/.electrum

Where is my wallet file located?
The default wallet file is called default_wallet, which is created when you first run the application and is located in the /wallets folder, inside the datadir.

btc can be merged mined with nmc, sys, emc, ela

You're right, I should have been remembering about NMC at least.
Still.. I've never heard of merged mining BTC + BCH, does BCH need something extra or I just missed it and was remembering something wrong?!
1500  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos: is it possible to get an exception from Cloudflare for scrapers? on: December 30, 2022, 09:27:19 PM
Let's get real, especially these 3 scrapers help the forum a lot, filling the gaps with features we don't have.. for example because the forum software is old.
I don't disagree with you about these three users. There is another one or better to say two more we can add. Ddmr and tranthidung as far as I know. But in these process we are trusting these people. People changes, they will change too. Any bad intend could create trouble for others. In the mean time you have no choice too.

Yes, I've noticed soon enough that I've missed at least DdmrDdmr, but for the sake of example I was fine, hence I didn't edit the post.
I also wrote there about whitelisting. Whitelisting can go in both directions (can be disabled or even become blacklisting). When somebody (who got whitelisting for his scraper) is no longer trusted (and we know how easy is for that to happen) his whitelisting will no longer be granted.

PS. Of course, API keys would be more professional, but I don't dare to even dream about that.
