1501  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The two ways to invest in bitcoins. on: May 02, 2023, 02:33:42 PM
There are only two ways to invest in bitcoins from some topics I have read in this forum, to buy a big amount of bitcoins once and to buy small amounts regularly according to a plan.
I don't think big time investors have the luxury of DCA. They just buy big at once whenever they feel the timing is right and move on. This is because these investors don't look to get the elusive "perfect timing" when they buy. They buy for the long haul and they know that at whatever price level they get in, they're bound to make profit whenever they sell off. Only small investors want to consider a low or high so to say before putting their cash down and most times they miss the opportunity. DCA is good, no doubt. However, I don't think it matters to an investor on a long term hodling.
1502  Economy / Reputation / Re: Warning about the Novus Chain project/bounties on: May 02, 2023, 01:26:15 PM
So why should you bother, OP?
I feel your point on that but I guess OP was driven by good conscience to do right and save others the imminent ache from loss. Otherwise, it shouldn't even be any business of his if anyone got scammed or not.

Not everyone knows that. Some of us learnt that from bitter encounters we had. We shouldn't take that knowledge for granted even though it seems like commonsense now.

Experience is the best teacher, right? Yeah we know but sadly some mistakes can be very costly. We've to prevent others from falling prey; if only they will listen and not be ignorantly stubborn.

Please forgive us. We will make sure that this won't happen again.
Apology already accepted long before now. Don't beat yourself up, nothing really went wrong. We're all good. Cheers, man.
1504  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can a beginner fast learn and contribute to bitcoin forum on: May 02, 2023, 11:21:43 AM
Hello everyone I'm new here.
Please what are  the fastest ways to learn about bitcoin? and how can a software development student meaningfully contribute to the forum?
I will let your first question slide as I believe it has already been answered by users above. Now, to the second question which has to do with your software development skill; there's no special way to contribute here than offer what you know or think will benefit others. Whenever there's an issue raised around what your skill can resolve, don't hesitate to proffer a solution to it.
1505  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bitcoin market is back on track on: May 02, 2023, 09:02:59 AM
Bitcoin touched its all-time high of $31K which is the 2023 market high.
Nah, ATH remains $68k+ for now until a price higher than it takes over. What we had in April was a maximum or high of $31k, not an all time high.

Quote
When the market reached $31K we had an idea that the Bitcoin market would soon reach $100K.
It's certain that price will go pass that $100k mark this coming bull rally as a fresh ATH is expected. I look forward to that in 2024/25 but if that happens in 2023, it simply means that Bitcoin will hit >$200k after halving in 2024 then.
1506  Other / Meta / Re: does the speculation board need live bitcoin price update? on: May 02, 2023, 07:58:22 AM
It will not be hard to get an API which will fetch() live bitcoin price, if not everywhere in the forum, atleast at the top of the  Speculation board.
This isn't a bad idea. I believe as a Bitcoin forum it should be a welcome development. Perhaps we can have it up there like that little space beneath the homepage where theymos dutifully drops updates on Electrum wallet or other snippets on latest developments. Just a widget type of thing that won't bug the entire forum. Yes, I know ChartBuddy updates Bitcoin price in Speculation but that's done on hourly basis. What OP is proposing is real time update as it floats on crypto sites like Coingecko and CMC and I like that.
1507  Economy / Speculation / Re: What if BTC won't see ATH again? on: May 01, 2023, 07:54:36 PM
The basic question should be when will Bitcoin find another ATH, not if it will find it. Of course, it's a given that Bitcoin will continue to find fresh ATH within every of its circle.

I remember Bitcoin being called "A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" not a quadruple your money every cycle earning scheme.
Let's be realistic here – how many people (investors) would be interested in Bitcoin if it weren't for the fact it serves as both investment and asset instrument. I'm not sure the P2P factor would've got it to this point in price than the "quadruple" effect is doing.
1508  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Beware of such ads on Instagram & Facebook! on: May 01, 2023, 07:30:55 PM
~snipped~
Does meta actually care about their users wellbeing, aren't they the same company selling their customers data to the highest bidders on the market and constantly tapping our device to find information they can use to make their service better (as they said) meanwhile we know the real reason behind them tapping our devices. A company that doesn't care about their customers privacy shoudn't be trusted and that's why I don't believe any ads I see on Facebook or any of their sister platforms like Instagram etc.
This is the part that irritates me about Mark Zuckerberg and how he runs his blue app company. There's so much infringements on the privacy of those who patronize Facebook. Yet, Zuckerberg doesn't give a hoot. It's not even as if he gives back to his subscribers like what YouTube and others do for their subscribers.

I once watched a gruelling session Zuckerberg had with the American congress and the brilliant senator who questioned him twisted the questions to trap Zuckerberg on the subject of privacy concerning his whereabouts and places he had visited but the Facebook CEO dodged them and that sounded funny. He didn't want anyone knowing places he had visited or where he lodged but wouldn't hesitate to expose where others visit or have been to.
1509  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will you sell because of situations? on: May 01, 2023, 06:31:46 PM
but the whole thing looks like a plan work from some people close to him because many people know him to be crypto dealer. Now this money is never available anywhere, the man's only option is to sell his bitcoin and even if he does is not up to the amount. Do you advise he sells and bail his kid sister?  Everybody is confuse.
This is the major reason it's advisable to stay on a lowkey while doing one's business. Every crypto or forex trader has to find a way not to over expose themselves. Most people who come across crypto dealers have that misconception of dealers being rich whereas a lot of us could barely live up to expectations, financially. So, why expose oneself then just to feel good on pretence?

If the man's only hope of securing his sister's release from the kidnappers' den is to sell off his Bitcoin and he cares about his sister's life, let him do the needful. However, if the reverse is the case let him also do the needful.
1510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you remember this episode of Simpsons? on: May 01, 2023, 04:43:59 PM
That is why I would like to ask everyone here, which year do you expect the Bitcoin price to go beyond a USD value and achieve an infinite value?
Well, the price of Bitcoin has already gone beyond the USD value as it's now. About the infinite value, we're beginning to see and take note of that in terms of its relevance in today's world. However, The Simpsons failed to put year and the expected price tag to Bitcoin so as to bring its forecast closer home. There shouldn't be any wild goose chase for that's what that episode did with its display.
1511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: humanity's dream to make a money on: May 01, 2023, 02:31:24 PM
Humanity's work is usually to get riches first, so money can start working for them.
I bet you there are a lot of people who've made this money but still slave for it. They're rich but still grind in the treadmill on a daily without taking a chill to enjoy what they've worked for. Under sun or rain they're out there trying to earn more. These ones are unknowingly working for their next of kin or whoever that will eventually have access to their wealth. That's to say not all who struggle to make money find enough time to enjoy it before passing on.
1512  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is Technical analysis a must know in crypto trading? on: May 01, 2023, 01:44:51 PM
Technical analysis is vital but it is not a must. It is only an added advantage.
Understandably, those I bolded are apt to the issue at hand. However, your last sentence captures it for me. That added advantage is what I always seek. A trader with that advantage will worry less than the one without it. The TA is one area I dwell on whenever I'm teaching interested minds the intricacies of trading because I know many a trader may not have the luxury of watching or listening to news which constitutes FA. If one got the TA right, one is more than 50% profitable in trading already.
1513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can we help to Bitcoin education? on: May 01, 2023, 12:24:45 PM
This thing is also limited just like gold, and it is so limited that there is only 21 millions available, but it is not a problem because you can buy literally only $1 dollar of it in seconds.
In relevant quarters, so many people attribute the "limitness" of gold to scarcity and not that it's as limited as Bitcoin's 21 million total supply. No one can truly tell you when gold supply will run out and at what quantity in its supply but we can day that of Bitcoin. It's the same thing that applies to every natural resources which Bitcoin isn't. I just needed to kick that out.

Quote
Any ideas to spread the Bitcoin education to the world?
Now to the issue at hand. The simple way is either by talking about it to those around us or by writing about it so that many who aren't around us can get acquitted about it. Any thing other than that is superfluous and may irritate those who don't give a damn about Bitcoin.
1514  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just how bad is the bear demand right now on: May 01, 2023, 10:53:27 AM
Clearly, right now we can't say the market is in a bear drive. It could've been in that state when this OP was made in January but not now. ATM, we can easily give it out that the market is enjoying a bullish momentum even though that can't be said to be concrete enough. The reason I said that is because price can still crash. My favourite time to believe that the bear has really ended will be in the last quarters of this year if price doesn't slump.
1515  Other / Meta / Re: Opinion/Recommendation: Autosave of drafts on the forum on: May 01, 2023, 09:16:12 AM
I know the forum administrative aren't complaining but is there any need for giving them more workload, you can just use the features that's already been in existence which is to preview your write up and they automatically saved as draft and those draft stay for a very long time.
🙆‍♀️. Well, I don't think what the OP suggested will cause more workload for forum administrators. We've programmers and coders here who can easily take it up as a task if they find it worthwhile to implement (I think they should). We've had recent cases of this where new ideas have been implemented in the forum that didn't come from theymos but from users who had his consent. We shouldn't make for with obsolete stuff when we can afford to have new ones. Remember when houses had manual TVs before the advent of remote controlled ones? What about automatic cars, away from manual ones, and now to self-driven cars? Those who invented the automatic vehicles didn't stop at that, otherwise there wouldn't be a thing as self-driven cars today.

We keep improving and advancing. There's no harm in that.
1516  Other / Meta / Re: Account rank and posts on: May 01, 2023, 08:42:14 AM
I saw some users before deleted some of their old posts even though they had posts more than the activity but still their accounts went ranked down.
How is that even possible, could that have been a glitch?

~snipped~
That's the only reason I could see as to why you'd be concerned about keeping your rank, and if you were going to leave bitcointalk altogether it doesn't make sense why you'd care.
I think OP isn't thinking of absconding from the forum. Otherwise they wouldn't be asking. They would just abandon it and take a walk, knowing that this forum isn't tied to their umbilical cord. What I think necessitated OP's question is that they want to know how to be on the safe side by not tampering with their rank if they went on deleting some of their posts in order to possibly keep a clean post history.
1517  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trading without fees on: April 30, 2023, 03:51:00 PM
Binance do have. If you trade using BUSD, there will be no commission cost or trading fee on every transaction for your trades.
When Binance started in 2017, it used to offer free trading across and it used to perplex me why any business would run on zero trading fees when it's not an NGO or charitable organization. My perplexity gave way to anxiety and worry as I soon began to imagine if Binance wouldn't disappear with investors (my) cash. Howbeit, it was a strategy to get traffic to its site as we can see years later. However, if I were OP I wouldn't worry so much about trading fees as I would worry about the safety of my funds. Safety comes first for me. I don't like the idea of "penny wise, pound foolish."
1518  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading not a get rich quick on: April 30, 2023, 03:41:22 PM
Coins like bitcoin may be promising, but what if you invested at $50000, bitcoin price now at $30000.
That's the major reason why everyone who intends going into investment (whether crypto or any other offline business) should embark on research and feasibility studies before investing. This saves one the ache that may arise from investing blindly. No one should rely on others to do the research for them. Yes, there are investors who bought at $50k; even some bought at ATH of $68k+. These ones will be gnashing their teeth in regrets for buying that high. If they are new to this industry, they will probably be crying blue murder by now of how they were misled into Bitcoin investment. Again, we ought to know that no investment is risk free. This cuts across. Fortunately, one good thing about Bitcoin investment is that it surely recovers from whatever dip it encounters. Those who lose in Bitcoin investment are the impatient investors.
1519  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I don't know if am right or wrong about this. on: April 29, 2023, 06:07:10 PM
I don't know if am wrong or right for opening up, even though I told him of the risk involved.
You would've been wrong if you didn't expose it to him after he became persistent to learn from you. You haven't done anything wrong as long as you also told him the cons and pros of it. Letting him know about the risk and loss side of crypto trading and making him realize that it's not always rosy is the caveat you've applied. If tomorrow he engages in trading and loses, he won't cry to you. If he does, just remind him of the caveat. Crypto trading isn't for the faint hearted, actually.
1520  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Know it that market is speculative on: April 29, 2023, 10:51:52 AM
~
Bitcoin bear market likely going to an end this season and being indicated from the first four months in this year that bitcoin has always maintain high despite it's attempts to surges more in preparation for bullrun, this is what others feels and express concerning the current situation with bitcoin rising pattern or moves from different sources:
Yes, if Bitcoin continues this way and in this range, even if it doesn't break out of it we can safely conclude that the bull rally for 2024/2025 started out earlier than speculated. It's a given that Bitcoin will always bull in preparation for its halving but I never expected it was going to start this early in the year. My calculation was for it to start in the last quarters of this year. I hope it continues this way. I want to see my portfolio jump.
