Awesome Miner is the best monitoring software out there in my opinion as well.

The power reading is pretty accurate, it's not 100% accurate compared to the reading on the wire itself, but it's pretty close when I checked it, unless you have perform precise measurements whereby a -+1 to 5% can send you to jail, you can really count on the software readings.

The meter wndsnb posted looks pretty decent, if you want to measure more amps you can always buy some external current transformers they are pretty cheap.

Really, you have not heard about "Foundry "before? they have been the largest mining pool for many months, there is no manipulated hashrate here, they found the most blocks and thus they are the largest pool, however, their pool unlike most others isn't public, it's only for large miners, I think the minimum they require is 50ph or so.

OP, you need to first decide whether you want PPS or PPLNS payments, after that, picking the right pool isn't difficult at all.

Yes, they do, but not instantly like most people expect/hope, it can take months, and it will depend on the demand, unfortunately, many people overpay for mining gears, so they pay 7k for S19 today, and even if the profitability drops by 25%, they will still pay 7k, so this kind of "dumb demand" slows down the price drop.

Another factor would be the sellers refusing to sell at lower prices, they will hold for as much as they can, in hope of a difficulity drop or a rebound in the price so they can sell for higher prices.

These two factors plus a few others I might not be aware of, they keep the price from dropping, especially for brand new gears, used gears drop a lot faster in price.

I still recall that right after the halving when profitability dropped by 50% instantly, gear prices didn't flinch until weeks had passed, so I expect this time it will be the same, but profitability has to stay low long enough, if we rebound soon then gear prices will not drop.

Ya, that was my question, if the pool doesn't pay charity, how can you claim that they pay more? most PPS pools are either FPPS or PPS+, depending on the average transaction fees at any given period, FPPS could pay more than PPS+ or vice versa, and then in both cases, the little difference will be determined by the pool's luck which isn't something they can control, so how can you claim that pool A pays more than pool B given that pool fees are the same?

it's only 50gh, pretty close to nothing as far as today's mining is concerned, it will still work, but why not get a new model of those USB sticks that can hash at 20x the speed of this model? but anyway, they will still work, it's just the speed that matters.

I would advise against mining to any U.S based pool, those pools are subject to weird American laws, look at what foundry pool does, they blacklisted dozens of addresses of which they don't include any of the transactions related to those addresses just because the U.S government decided to blacklist those addresses for whatever reason, does Luxor pool do the same? if not, how could they go under the U.S radar by including transactions of addresses flagged by the U.S government?

Sooner or later all U.S based pools might be forced to mine what's called "clean blocks", it's a very bad thing for what bitcoin stands for.

Those so called bots do not mine bitcoin, mining bitcoin is done using ASIC miners which are made for the exact purpose of mining bitcoin, they cost a lot of money and need a lot of power to run, the clicking you do on those websites is either scam or it generates revenue through ads, they call them mining bots to trick you or to otherwise scam you.

This is exactly what this exact pool does, we all mine together to one pool, which increases the odds of finding a block for the pool as a whole, but then only the miner who gets that lucky share will get the reward regardless of how big or small his/her hashrate was.

This is called a solo pool, which is just a replacement for the old solo mining where you had to run your own node and mine to it, mining to a solo pool saves you all that trouble, besides, having close to 100% uptime and very fast connection isn't something the average person can do/afford, which is why we use a solo pool.

The other "normal" pools work the same, it's just the payout that is different, you get paid based on the number of shares you submit (essentially your hashrate speed), there was another pool scheme (forgot the name) that had a sort of a hybrid approach, the block finder gets like 25% or something like that of the block reward, and the remaining is divided between all miners including the one that hit the block, each based on the number of shares they submitted which is sort of stupid if you ask me.

I admire your desire to come up with a new pooling concept, but as it stands right now, everything you may think of has already been done.

You have to pay a lot more to convince anyone, Asicboost saves on average 13-18% on power, so let's run the numbers.

profit today = 0.15$ per th and S9 with 13th gets 1.95$ a day.

Asicboost activated> 88w per th, so a 13th S9 takes 27.4 KwH every day

Asicboost deactivated> 103w per th, 32.1 KwH

so about 4.7 kWh a day per miner so an extra 0.235$ per day for 5 cents rate (could be higher but I doubt anyone with higher rates still run S9s) and that puts you at 1.95+ 0.235 = 2.185$ and that is 12% more than a PPS pool.

Plus, S9s with Asciboost activated run A LOT cooler, and require a lot less cooling, so there is more cost involved when running them without Asicboost, also the lifespan of the miner will be reduced for running hotter, so not even that extra 12% can make up for all of that.

To add more insult to injury, the vast majority of S9s run on firmware versions that do self-tuning to squeeze a lot better efficiency, anywhere between 70w to 80w, and those firmware don't have a non-asicboost version, so it looks like the 12% can be anywhere near double.

I have a few hundreds of S9s that have been tuned and mining at the best efficiency they can, took a lot of work to get them to the stage, and having to flash an old non-asicboost firmware will take a lot of work, I personally won't do it unless it's an offer I can't refuse, and given that this is going to be done for research purposes, I doubt it's worth it to give me such an offer, but hopefully, you get a good offer from someone else, just be careful of scammers and use escrow.


S9ks don't have Non Asicboost firmware, Bitmain didn't write one, and nobody else did.

I don't think so, when that board was created there was little to no ASICs, if you scroll back a few years, you will see that most people were selling their PCs, Laptops, and related parts, recently since mining bitcoin (as well as many other coins) is only done on ASIC miners, that board became dominated by ASIC topics.

The thing is, ASIC miners only interest people who mine with ASICs, those are unique and specific users, the rest of the members who visit that board do it to shop for a laptop, headphones, a new ram stick, or anything computer-related, and on the other side, someone who wants to buy/sell an ASIC miner will have to filter those users selling their PC parts, it's just a mess because the audiences of both categories are different.

The Computer hardware child board has really become such a mess, I know the rules/preference is that certain subject needs to dominate in order to have it's own child board, and as it stands right now, the Computer hardware is dominated by ASIC miners.

Looking at the first 20 topics, about 60% of the topics there are ASIC miner related, this has been the case for months (I did not cherry-pick the first page).


Someone who is actually looking for "computer hardware" in that child board will have a very hard time.

Same here, I did not mean he is a scammer, but the risk is way too much, especially for solo mining, I mean if it was a PPS pool then well, all you risk is 24 hours' worth of mining, but imagine "magically" winning a whole block only to realize that you can't take it home, I mean even a longstanding pool like CKsolo has once lost a block for some technical reasons, it would be extremely hard to trust a new pool even if the person was trustworthy, I personally won't take that risk and I don't think anyone in their right mind would.

Looking at the overall picture the answer would be yes, we are helping each other and everyone else who believes in Bitcoin, it doesn't matter how you look at it, every hash straightens the ecosystem as a whole.

On the other hand, as far as the solo pool goes, unlike the normal pooled mining, only the person who hits the blocks get the reward, but then the pool gets its fees and thus can be financially self-sustained, so, ya, the more blocks person A finds, the more chances that the pool will be there for person B to use.

And then beyond all that, the fun and the joy of playing this solo game is beyond imagination, everyone here has a story and a dream, and hitting a block on a solo pool can be life-changing, it can also become an addiction, similar to gambling (with worse odds), I just hope that people maintain a good risk/reward ratio when dealing with a solo pool, don't go all in -- but don't stay completely out of it.

With all due respect, why would anyone risk a whole block by mining on a new pool? there are two types of risks involved here.

1- You could very well keep all the rewards to yourself

2- Your pool might not be technically capable of handling blocks in the first place.

One needs to be sure that at least the points above aren't valid, why would I use your new pool over another solo pool that has been there for years and found over 200 blocks?

If it's the 0.8% difference I could use another trusted pool that has 0.5% fees, which is also a pool that's known to find blocks (regardless of the fact that the owner of that pool is such a d***) he is still more trustworthy and technically competent.

Your router won't give a static IP to the miner, you have to set that manually on the miners network configuration, but that could be done later.

Please post a screenshot of the miner status and the pool configuration, chances are, you entered the wrong mining details.

Please use proper pool, nicehash is hard to connect to, they have different URLs for asicboost and non asicboost which can cause issues, try this pool.
