Finally, a coin about cats ;3

I believe there's three coins: Catcoin, Kittehcoin and Lolcatcoin.

OK, I retract my previous statement.

Haha, there's probably even more now. They're springing up daily. They annoy me way more than they should.

Should probably ban Arcades too because tickets and prizes are not currency, neither are video games.

This is exactly my thinking. If people are using something as currency then who are the governments to tell us it's not.

But snow is beautiful and purifies the landscape in glorious blinding white! Well, until it all turns to grey slush and makes everywhere look horrible and decaying  Grin.

what is so beautiful about the color white?

What isn't?

White power.

Don't tell anyone, but I just change the location of my VPN connection before posting  Cheesy

Well that's one way to get around it, but not everyone posts from VPNs.

What about this insercoolusername guy: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=386409.0

There's mountains of evidence against him on this site and others and the user admitted guilt and refunded people because he was doxed. He also has previous convictions for internet fraud.

Edit: Just saw this was necroed. Thought it was a new thread.
17527  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: "insertcoolusername" Charity SCAMMER - UPDATE! SCAMMED 5 TIMES BEFORE! on: January 06, 2014, 04:19:28 PM
We need the support of the bitcointalk forum admins to start a legal case.
Looks like they are busy doing other things.

What do you need from them? Surely you'll have enough evidence already?

If you hand the info over to the police and there's enough to make a case the police will be able to get a warrant to get his IPs. Maybe this guy used TOR or a proxy though.
17528  Other / Off-topic / Re: Whats is your IQ? on: January 06, 2014, 04:18:04 PM
I can prove my IQ. Here's my certificate.

I think this might be photoshopped, but I can't be sure.

I can't believe you're questioning my superior intellect!

I'm no expert, so apologies if I'm wrong, but the colouring seems a little off Grin.

I believe this will be the first attempt at an international crpyto being introduced into market.

What about Bitcoin and Litecoin?

Hmm... those have more of a presence I would say in USA/English speaking places.
Then again, the whole satoshi nakamoto name is definitely Japanese.
I guess what I was trying to say was; Monacoin's community is the strongest in Japan. All other cryptos that I am aware of (not really aware of too many pre-dating 2013) seem to have launched with an American/English influence.

I guess that would make monacoin national rather than international Smiley

Haha, yeah. The unique features these coins claim to offer are usually just hyperbole and pipe-dreaming. I'd say Bitcoin is pretty worldwide, or at least it's going there.

Just realised this was the guy who was gonna bet me 1BTC that USA would go further than England in the World Cup: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=361976.msg3950561#msg3950561

Hit me up if you still want to bet nearer the time. I look forward to taking your 1BTC off you Smiley

I was looking forward to a bet with him too. Knew it was too good to be true Sad

My display name on PD is mprep

Thanks. On a side note, I can't find my ID and the page for finding is missing. It simply shows the "The page you are looking for cannot be found." cloudfare page. So if you could PM me the ID, that'd be great.

It should be under your display name.
I can't login. I have the password, the username, but I can't check my ID on the page that's supposed to help you. Due to security concerns, I have set the browser to clean everything: history, cache, cookies... Aside from that, I haven't used PD in a long time so I didn't need to look up my ID.

Ah. I've remain logged in since I signed up two months or so ago so not had this problem.
17534  Economy / Economics / Re: If tax calculators are to believed, staying in the UK means getting robbed on: January 06, 2014, 04:02:16 PM
Roll on independence in Scotland.. Fed up of Westminster taxing us.. Bedroom tax is the latest one!!

Saw Cameron on TV with his serious face on the other day urging Scots to vote no on it for the 'sake of Great Britain'. I'm sure they're just going to miss your taxes and don't really care otherwise.

Are you guys kidding?  The SNP is dedicated to higher taxes and they are the Scottish government.

Yes, but then the taxes go to the Scottish people, not Cameron and his Corporate buddies.

That's a nice thought but in reality, the Scots enjoy a generous subsidy as well as disproportionate political representation.  If the Scots leave, England will be financially far better off.

Are you sure? Why are they so bothered about you leaving then? It will effect their interests negatively in some other capacity.
17535  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paypal discussion... on: January 06, 2014, 04:00:26 PM
I can't see Paypal accepting Bitcoin any time soon as it's  against their tos.

It's simple: change their TOS.

Tons of them, one is this one https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=399775.0  Smiley

This doesn't talk much about the prospects for bitcoin were Paypal to actually begin allowing bitcoin to be purchased over Paypal, and/or were eBay to begin allowing people to buy and sell over eBay using bitcoin.

That's what I'm looking for...

There's not really any prospects for Paypal and eBay to begin allowing buying/selling Bitcoin yet.

I've bought bitcoin on ebay. If you get on at the quiet times you can often pick it up for below market price.  Do your sums before bidding and you can come away with savings on exchange fees etc.  People often ignore ebay because they think it is all over priced, a lot of it is but there are great deals to be found if you look.

I've never seen them cheaper than marketprice. Doesn't even make sense to do this with ebays fees and risks of being scammed.

You need to look harder Tongue
Sometimes they are badly listed so not as many people see them but if I'm up late then that's the time to check.  Bitcoin is usually listed for really short auction durations so they are easy to miss.  The lowest I've had was 80% of the then market price.  You don't get charged fees to buy on ebay, it's only the sellers. Buyers are really well protected on ebay which is more of a problem for the sellers.  It's those sellers that get scammed with the paypal refund trick.  I always confirm my wallet in a message with payment and a separate message after.  My feedback shows I am honest too so I've never had any problem.

I bought my first Bitcoin on ebay for £70 when it was worth about £60 and that was a great deal at the time. I know buyers are protected well, but the sellers aren’t, so there's no worry for you.

V for Vendetta. Good film, very entertaining to say the least. The original Red Dawn was something which I really used to enjoy watching too.

Remake was better.

Jokes. I need to watch V again. I wonder if there'll be any films with the V/Anonymous mask in. Wonder if they could get the rights to use it. Would be cool to see armies of V masks in another film.
17537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SexCoin Ideas on: January 06, 2014, 03:48:22 PM

It's true that there is little absolute need for an alt coin in this situation (as in most situations). However, the adult entertainment industry is known to appreciate novelty. SexCoin provides this, if nothing else. It integrates well into the fantasy; fantasy is wrapped into every aspect of adult entertainment.

Why can't Bitcoin be a novelty? Bitcoin can be sexcoin and drugscoin and whatever else you want it to be.

Bitcoin is far too slow, a transfer can take an hour or three. I really think it reigns at the top due to name recognition and hype alone, not usability. Litecoin is far more practical. When I need to transfer bitcoins between one exchange and another, I always first convert to litecoin - 3 - 5 minute wait instead of a few hours.

But to address novelty - Bitcoin cannot provide the same level novelty for the same reason that a sex toy may be called "The John Holmes" rather than "The John Doe". Most people do not want to buy the John Doe. Also, as Bitcoins become more normalized, people will come to realize it as actual money spent. Take for example a casino. One of the reasons they have you convert your money into tokens before you gamble is that people will spend tokens more freely than cash, even though it has the same value.

Did you wonder at least a minute why your transactions via BTC took 3 hours and with LTC 5 minutes?
The block time is different by a magnitude of minutes not hours.

Pay a decent fee and your transaction will be processed in minutes via BTC.
Also I would love to see how long it will take for any crytos to verify transactions once they have the same amount of daily transactions as the BTC network.

Yeah, people seem attack Bitcoin about how long it takes, but I've had no problems. Just pay the fee.

I remember liking the first Pitch Black when I saw it in theaters and I might've caught it once or twice since.

I watched Chronicles of Riddick when it came out on DVD on a train ride and was utterly bored. I found myself staring at the scenery outside more than the film.

I've not seen Chronicles. I'll give the trilogy a go when I've got time. No time at the moment though for any films or TV Sad
