There's is only a place, where  all these unsent bonus Neptunes earn more BTC for KNC.
1762  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is the S5 string design safe and was it really tested properly? on: January 13, 2015, 12:14:50 AM

I had a 1600 EVGA which was only running one SP20... it went up in a puff of smoke... Sp20 is more about getting the settings right... I have three SP20 and each of them are able to go to 1.7TH/s
I read here something else
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=920699.0

I have 2 x 750's on one SP20, 1 x AX1200i on another and 2 x 650's on another
all running ~1.4TH/s. settings on each:

Fan Speed 20
Start Voltage 0.69 / 0.69 / 0.69 / 0.69
Max Voltage 0.695
Max Watts 250 / 250 / 250 / 250

So is it safe to oc S5 ?

No. Only if you have a good fire alarm system and own guardian angel 24/7

S5 is in my opinion the fire hazard in this open air case.

Bronan...

Love to see proof of your undersea cables from Iceland.

Mainly because they don't exist. Nice pipe dream though. There are internet cables, but not electrical. Note even close.

Undersea electrical cables are extremely complicated and leak very badly. (ie. electricity escapes.) The one from Newfoundland to Cape Breton is speculated to be uneconomic, but we'll know better in 2017 when it is online.

And if you can show me 4 cent USD power in Western Europe, I'll eat my hat and yours.

It is possible and has been done...

NorNed (Norway to Nederlands)... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/NorNed

We even have 2 cables.  EstLink 1 and EstLink 2 .

No. 3 SP20 cost 5.55 BTC

2xSP20 cost still $595.00+$595.00+shipping  = Ugh, I do not want to know this number

Based on their previous lines, the even units have always been underclocked. Maybe you'll see an S6 with a 16-17 chip string instead of a 14 chip string, lowering the voltage to get better efficiency.

S5 had 15 chip per board.( 7+8)+(7+8)=30

Has anyone tried opening up their Antminer S5 and consider putting a fan onto each of the heatsink surfaces? Miner would probably become quiet, although you could have a bit of a mess Wink

It does not work. You need to cool down in the inner sides. There are temperature sensors.

Water-cooled S5 will not work without a fan . It overheats.

well I am 100% sp20.   I turn a profit at  diff of 50xxxxxx and btc 200 usd but many people do not make money at those numbers so  i would think a diff of 50xxxxxxx and a price of 200usd would force a leveling of diff.
like  we had between nov 5 and dec 30.
As soon will come the new and more power saving miners. Smarter already selling their SP20

1770  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S5 power suply on: January 11, 2015, 09:06:17 PM
Now I am choosing between Chieftec GPM-850C (850 W, 80+ Gold, single 12V rail, but only 2 PCI-E power cables with 2 connectors each, totally 4, just what we need for S5) and Chieftec APS-850CB (same 850 W, 80+ Bronze, 2 12V rails, but it has 4 (!) separate PCI-E power cables). Both has the same price. I would like to combine them and buy a PSU with 850 W, 80+ Gold, Single 12V rail and 4 separate PCI-E power cables. For same price... But we are living in non-ideal world...

So the question is: will it be OK to use Chieftec GPM-850C with S5, keeping in mind that it has 2 PCI-E cables instead of 4?.. Cables looks solid, but...

No. Forget Chieftec.  You  need some single rail PSU.

take out the 288watt cap or the voltage limit of 0.790 and we can hit 1.8th/s

+1
get better cables  Smiley my SP20's are all perfectly capable of 1.7TH/s
i run them ~1.5.

I have 11x EVGA G2 1300W

This is not about cables, but the software limit.

My second and third SP20 worked 1720GH/s and 1735GH/s  if they are accidentally have after update   SP10 software.

Is it ok/safe to run a single unit using 3 cables that have double 6 pins?  8 pin to dual 6 pin.

I was hoping I could run 1 dedicated cable to each blade, then use the 3rd cable and split it between both blades.

The Corsair CM850 only comes with 3 cables.

Thoughts?

Strato

It is better to buy one Corsair Extra PCE-i cable   separately .  My Corsair RM850 works with 4 PCI-E and RM850 comes similarly with only 3 PCI-E cables.

I found a link to ebay  here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=917835.0

Spondoolies

---
Sp20  I have 8  they work great at 1500gh or under  If I owned the company I would have called them 1500gh miners
---
I clock my Sp20E at 1400gh or 1430gh max   I do not even attempt to think 1600 or 1700gh.
---

I agree. All buy, but no one sees that SP20 is still underperformed 1.7 TH/s ± 10%

Based on my 11x SP20 I only see 11 x  1.7 TH/s - 5%

Only my very first SP20 was 1720TH/s of normal room temperature. Even that only have one day to the first software updates.
I look forward to  software that would allow me back 1.7 TH/s +

What kind of thermal compound is used during S5 assembling? I have Arctic MX-4 and AlSil-3 and I want to try to replace thermal interface and see what it will lead to...

To make water-cooled S5 I used MX-2 http://www.arctic.ac/eu_en

BTW, is anyone able to compare the noise to an S4 please? I have an S4 and had to find another location for it. I had my neighbour knocking on my door asking what the hell the noise was and saying that he could not sleep with it (we both are in separate houses and his bedroom is about 50 meters away from my house). I have seen reports of the S4 between 70 and 90 db but not sure how accurate they were. It would be great if someone could do a test using the same metering device at the same distances for testing both.

Almost identical to the S4.

...
Which metering device did you use?
What where the values?

Dogie did not respond to you. If dogie have some Sound Level Meter, then you have already read it from dogies review.

Anyone buying miners now, how are you going to break even? Please tell me the secret!!!!!? Based all on risk and "hoping" what will happen?

The secret is simple. Sell, when the BTC price is high. I sold the beginning of December 16 BTC.  I got a 4700 euro.
For this, I you can  pay several months for electricity.
In December, NiceHash Christmas miracle happened. I mined in 6 days 14 BTC.
Believe BTC and you shall receive  Cool

This is just DHL mucking around and to EU country this is excessive.
I also got it in ~6 days (albeit one day was Christmas, and another two- Sat and Sunday) in US after DHL sit on it for 36hr.
24 hr for SP35 is probably because it was sent by FEDEX. Items that you pay for shipping, SPT usually sends by the fast fedex.
To say that somehow SPT is responsible for DHL actions is certainly not fair.

FedEx will also be sent to Estonia. Only it will cost more, than a DHL week trip.
My first  SP10 shipped with DHL to Estonia with 24 hours.

Shipped 14.05.2014 , Vat Declaration paid in 15.05.2014

There is no need here to write,  that a friend sent me miner with  superfast postings, if others will get cheaper and slower shipping.

1780  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: January 07, 2015, 06:23:57 PM
SP35 arrived this morning. door to door from Spondoolies to Scotland in ~24hrs.

great stuff.

What do you wonder ? You write that the business owner is your friend.

Look at how long does it   with "free postings" for not business owner  friend customer.

Shipment picked up Monday, December 22, 2014 , Delivered  Monday, December 29, 2014

http://www.dhl.com/en/express/tracking.html?AWB=6661533336&brand=DHL

If I had not gone by DHL  and picked it up, would be more 1 day  longer from Spondoolies door to my  door.
