no an underclocked sp20 can do .45 gh a watt.

so at 1000gh the sp20 is the winner.

.....
If the s-5 could do this six pack stack below I would like it more:

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/673/qsSAtx.jpg

With factory settings S5 is a winner.

Only 249 USD + shipping and You can make of  them small  4,6 TH/s water cooled four pack  0,5W / GHs

Are you not under powering the boards by not powering both connectors? Or overloading the current 12v rail?

If it is single rail PSU, then the answer is NO.

Over-volting is NOT a hardware modification .... but then again,  overclocking ALSO voids the warranty so if you've run your rig at non stock freq then you've already voided your warranty too! Still, would be nice to know a safe over-volt voltage ..... we know they can be under-volted to 9v, so would be nice to know the uppper voltage limit.
I was playing about with one of my server PSU's potentiometer and can get it to 14.8v without any load .... and that is the smaller ones, not tried the bigger ones yet.

Specifications

Hash Rate: 1155 GH/s ±5%
Power Consumption: 590 W (at the wall)
Power Efficiency: 0.51 J/GH (at the wall)

Does everyone agree this is the S5?

No. My   water cooled S5 is more powerful, quieter and much better.  Grin

1145W  2300GH/s
0.498W / GHs

1295W      2580GH/s
0,502W / GHs

I only agree  S5 blades and controller is today the most effective.  However, S5 technical realization,  is a mess and firehazard.

water cooled S5 costs 931USD
Shipping 307USD Depends on the country

2x S5 = 2x 341 USD+shipping (109USD)

you got to be nuts a sp20 over an s5 look how much power it uses.

S5 only pulls 525 watt at 1200 Gh/s!!!

0.4375W/GH/s    Only in your dreams.

you got to be nuts a sp20 over an s5 look how much power it uses.

...

Hash Rate: 1150 GH/s     0.53W/GHs

The million dollar question is, and dogie you can excuse yourself from responding to this one, what is the maximum / safe over-voltage that can be applied to an S5?

So what ur saying is the C1 is 2 x S3's in a new box with water cooling??

If this is so where can i buy the kit to convert them???

bitmain again increased the price of S5.

maybe they should price them in BTC if thay want to track BTC price ?

They are digging the grave, only to yourself. Today the cost of 3 x S5 with shipping to me was 4 BTC 945.448 USD
Now it is  4.225 BTC  ( 1038.448 USD )  +20% VAT =1246 USD

Better I buy  3 x SP20 for 1195 USD and I ask  the bill for  customs  600USD . Yes,   I  Pay 100 USD  more, But for  the miner, what  not need to rebuild.  And having a closed housing , not a  open fireplace.

1729  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Modify S5 Antminer to watercooling on: January 24, 2015, 02:16:57 AM

Oops, forgot it only comes with a front fan, was mixing it up with the S3 in front of me.  So, will the water blocks fit with the screws that hold them in place on the S5?
Air-cooled S5 doesn't have screw holes to hold waterblocks.

You can take bottom of  S3 and drill   into 8 extra holes. Bottom  is not necessary for working the S3

Also, you have to drill 4 more holes

1730  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.25/GH & 0.51W/GH on: January 24, 2015, 01:44:56 AM

I want both my mod gives me both I borrowed my friend IR thermometer and that's it. it costs me time and a few bucks! and I am not going to go crazy buying a c1 just for the cooling system mine does both I don't need water cooling I am not in a desert!!

all that cash is not practical for what these miners rake in!!!

6 months the S5 will be useless anyway!!!

C1 has today exactly the same useless value as 2x  Antminer S3
I have already some C1 miners.  I can make  them to air-cooled C1 to sell , and leave the better parts for the construction of a water-cooled S5. Up to 4.6TH/s  in a small housing.

Why should I not  do it ?
I need to buy only a few SC-BC2 antiminner cooling kit http://shop.syscooling.com/goods.php?id=46

That is a shroud "Hollow" 120mm delta fan with the air blades still on the back AND THAT IS THE STOCK S5 FAN IN THE PICTURE!!!

Do you want better cooling, or a quieter miner?
1732  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.25/GH & 0.51W/GH on: January 23, 2015, 10:27:26 PM

....
As you can see the results above in the pic. Also the noise level dropped from 75db to 62db.
..

Which Sound Level Meter it is measured?

---
old s5 temps with Silverstone f141???
----
new s5 temps

These tests, I'd like to read radiator temperature measured with an infrared thermometer.
Not the temperature sensor readings.  These temperature sensor readings are true only with factory fan .

I posted along these lines in the thread dedicated to created a liquid cooled S5.

Not sure what the point of doing this is... I'm hashing on my S5 units pretty consistantly at 1200ish (some more, some a tad less) by simply using 1 replaced Delta AFB1212SHE fan.

I mean, factoring the time, materials, cost, to mod an S5 into a liquid cooled S5 - just doesnt seem worthwhile unless you can end up getting 1500ghash or even more.

Am I missing something?

Strato

I got a quiet bedroom miner. The pump makes more noise, if the fans.

old s5 temps with Silverstone f141???

new s5 temps

......

These are only a temperature sensor readings, not the actual miner blades temperatures. You can  fool the sensor,if you put in a separate small radiator.

My watercooled S5 four temperature sensor readings are 60-70 degrees Celsius ,    But the coolant is 35  degrees Celsius.

Has anyone with a C1 tried switching the blades and controllers out? It would look a little frankenstineish. Just wondering if the water blocks could help keep these cool given the different style of the chips. They use the same heatsink as the S1 and S3 its just that the heatsink is on the chips instead of the PCB. I have 3 S5's but no C1 and bitmain isn't selling them anymore. Thought about grabbing one of of ebay just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Customer Service-Overseas Yesterday at 10:57

Dear customer,

Sorry to keep you wait.
The PIN refer to the silvery white cables connected with the chips. As you can see in the attachment, some cables connected with these two chips has dropped off.
I have marked the precise location of lose PIN with three red circles。

Please let me know you have any other concerns.

Yours respectfully,
Quentin

Tupsu Yesterday at 16:58

Thank you. Now I know what it means - Lost PIN.

But it's not my fault, nor the shipping company fault.
This error results from your production process.
These two chips came loose as a result of chips overheating over 200C and caused the melting of solder. Too muchthermo glue on radiator took the lead lost pin.

In this case, if the product can not be repaired, it should be easy to replace with new hashboard.
When I bought the product, I read through the warranty conditions:
3. The following events will void the warranty:

a. Customer removes/replaces any components by himself without receiving permission from Bitmain first;

b. Damage caused by poor power supply, lightning or voltage surges;

c. Burnt parts on hash boards or chips;

d. Miner/boards/components damage due to water immersion or corrosion due to wet environment.

I used Bitmain PSU, Is now working well with another S9
No visually burnt parts or corrosion.

So I have met all of these conditions . Before sending I watched Bitmain packing video and my package was packed even better.

Therefore, I am fulfilled all the requirements of your warranty and now look forward to the part of your warranty.
I am sure that the injury could also happen, when you send the parcel from Hong Kong warehouse to your repairing place.
Since your parcel will be sent by your Company, I can not blame for physical damage my postal compani EMS

You also did not inform me from The injury immediately after receipt of the parcel 17 august 2016, It can therefore be assumed that the parcel reached you without any external injury.

Waiting for you by sending a replacement hashblade. , If you do not have 650M hashblade, it it may also be 600M Hashblade, because this miner was working anyway with only 600 frequency.
...............

Customer Service-Overseas Today at 09:42

Dear customer,

Sorry to keep you wait.
The PIN is lost resulting from the lost of heat sinks. And the heat sinks are lost as the hash board is hit. We have informed you immediately when we find the problem. It is not our faulty.
I understand your position. But according to our policy, the scraped hash board can not be replaced.

Yours respectfully,
Quentin

1737  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Modify S5 Antminer to watercooling on: January 21, 2015, 11:13:51 AM
Would it be possible to add waterblocks to the current S5 case?  Are the attachment points the same?  If I just removed the rear fan, could I just add waterblocks to the boards?  Knowing I have to disassemble all, but could it fit and keep the controller card on the top?

No. Because there is no housing. There are only two pieces of plastic and the two ends, exactly the same as in S3
1738  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Modify S5 Antminer to watercooling on: January 20, 2015, 03:14:03 AM
What other components are you providing to cool the roughly ~2KW? Same as C1 kit?
C1 kit is OK,but both sides of radiator need to be installed fans.1 C1 kit could support 4 hash boards, the whole miner need two kits.

How about water distributors?  These are not included in this ANT BC1 mining cooling kit . http://shop.syscooling.com/goods.php?id=45

EDIT. Got it. What is needed is a set of two ANT BC1 mining cooling kit.
1739  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Modify S5 Antminer to watercooling on: January 20, 2015, 12:45:48 AM
This would be a lot more attractive if Bitmain would ship bare boards.

You will also need the cables, screws  and springs.
1740  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Modify S5 Antminer to watercooling on: January 20, 2015, 12:11:57 AM
If that is like a 2*c1 side by side, why not make 3*c1 side by side, also 1*c1 but with s5 blades, c2?!

Also: it should be only 1 controller for al boards
use 14cm fans! not the screaming 12cm from s5

From 1 x C1 boards+ controller and 2 x S5 leftover  parts I built air-cooled C1. In the same style as the S5 . The two pieces side by side, and only one has controller.
