The S5+ came with the same instruction regarding you must populate all 3. I thought someone already proved it could be ran with 2 of 3? Tupu?
Although my opinion is to still use all 3 which is how "my friend" runs his S5+. Why ask for trouble when it is so inexpensive to run this way. Cables are cheap unless you are building a mega farm.
If you're thinking about me, then the answer is no. I have 3 x APW3-12-1600-B2 and 10 x EVGA G2 1300W so I do not have a need for it. But I believe that S5+ is working well with 2x PCI-E cables on single board. |

Another not working S5+ hashboard from my DOA arrived miner with broken FAN. This time it was from the other side of miner, not from with broken Fan cube. Hi, if you have 3 S7, you don't need longer cables, try only to flip the 2 outside s7. The miners could seen like this:
F=S7 Front
R=S7 Rear
FRF
RFR
Then, you will not need to have longer cables, but you will need to switch the front fan to the rear fan ONLY ON THE CENTRAL S7 and ready to run!

Careful with only running 1 fan. I had an AM Prisma that only had 1 fan. The miner was using ~1100 watts and the single fan failed. In a short order, the miner caught fire and was destroyed in a nice flaming bunch of expensive electronics.
Watch air closly as you dont want to get to hot. Warranty has changed a lot on what you can do at this point.
Open up a RMA with a ticket and hopefully they send you one for free. If nothing else it documents you had permission to mess with fan.

Turns out the second fan was working the whole time, it was just the fan grill that made it look like it wasn't working (derp). So my previous noise level estimates were taken from the unit with both fans working.
Also, I just took a power reading and it looks like this miner takes 1200W exactly for me, using a LEPA 1600W PSU.

The reward halves every 210 000 blocks. 50 -> 25 (now) -> 12.5 ->6.25 ...
After that, the transaction fees are the reward to the miners -> which would be currently less than 1%

I just deposited BTC into Hashnest but coins are not showing up in my wallet after 20+ confirmations. I see in the Bitmain forum that many others are having the same problem. Hopefully this is just a glitch, but for the time being I would suggest not sending anything to Bitmain until this is resolved.
I sent in 3 different transactions totaling 21 coin, set my transaction fee to .0005 and showed up in wallet within 20 min. No issues. If your sending transactions with min fees, it will be a while since there is over 100K transactions in the mem pool. This problem was in Hashnest, not transaction fees. Today is yesterday's problem back. No payment after block 374002 No payment for 4 blocks. Yesterday there were 19 blocks with no payment which was paid until today. |

Actually, I received a replacement hash board for my S5 recently which has the many-small heat sinks, one attached to each asic chip, and it works great, and runs a LOT cooler than the old-style cooling system, where all the chips on the board have thermal paste on top of them, and they are all in contact with one large heat sink.
So I'm sure the S7 (and S5+) need far less fan power to keep them cool, which is why they can be packaged so much more densely.

You do not have the right twice. 1. many-small heat sinks are attached not to S5 chip . And You still need the large heat sink and thermal paste for cooling chip side of hashboard. 2. S5+ need more fan power to keep them cool as S5. Almost two times more. The same tornado also be S7. |

I would say the S5 will drop down for a little while, then will go back up once supply dries up a little.
Will be interesting to see what happens with the price on the S7 though..
I do not think that the price of S5 never recover to today's store price . Price: 367.0 USD(1.53702921฿) Stock: 634 Market price 1x S5=0.96 BTC S7 will be a limited batch , so after opening S7 sale the GH/s price goes up . Three months ago, UMISOO was the most profitable in Hashnest. After 3 months, it is probably S5. |
