961  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My S7 AntMiner Setup - Let me know what you think on: November 27, 2015, 10:55:10 AM

Lol, I don't even know where to begin with your feedback.  So I am going to keep it really simple.  Based on your response you clearly do not understand what a swamp cooler is and the direction of air flow it provides.  That was evident when you kept referring to it as a ceiling fan.  There were so many assumptions in your in your critique that were incorrect it was not even worth trying to correct them to give you a proper response, and with that I had to chalk up your initial introduction/insult of "worse set up ever" and toss it in the trash.  Even if half of your assumptions of my setup were correct I don't think you would be saying that, unless you were just trolling.  Either way no biggie to me.  I love feedback I can use, but yours was useless, and again I don't know if it was a trolling effort or just your lack of knowledge with my particular setup.

At any rate your signature line leads me to believe you do this for fun and because you had enough insults in there to try empower yourself.  This was a weak effort to troll as there were so many facts that where wrong which makes makes me think you don't know as much as you think you do.  Just a thought.

A more constructive approach rather than your tear down method which doesn't work on me would be to show me you set up.  If you have all the answers then lets see your set up.

At any rate thanks for the response and have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Unlike you, I will not try with  youtube videos  teach others.
My setup is "bigger than yours",  but  in different rooms at my house, and the total of  three different places.

I can today received my 32 and 33   S7 from patch 5 and Tuesday, two more from patch 6 (4 TH/s miners)

But the 10 pieces of them are not in my house , because I do not have so much power . Only 3x 50A  at 220V

At home I have some full metal shelving and each shelf is only for 3 x double size S7  9.7 TH/s miner.
They were more with  S3 and S5 times, but S3 and S5 are now sold.

Each miner works an different phase . Not more  as 2,5 KW per phase, approximately 11A
The power to every shelf is given "temporary" with  moisture resistant rubber cables with  3x 16A connectors.

Some of the racks in  my main mining room are filled with the single S7 miners and with single S5+ cubes.

But the principle is the same.  Not more than 2x S7 (or S5+)  an one phase on  the 3 x !6A cable.

I did not use any of the house's own cable for mining. Not even on the second floor.  Everything is connected by a separate 16A 3 phase cables from  a separate 16A  circut breakers. Because mining is a temporary   At least I thought so, when I started with computers and video cards.

The entire hot air from main mining room goes out with the window fan, part of the heat going for heating the house first floor.
The second living  floor will warm  water cooled S5 miners. Again, with  small shelves  and completely portable.

For cooling the house i have 22kW  LG multisplit air conditioner with 7  inner part, but I do not use it to cool the miners.
In summer I use this FAN with flexible hose  if it's go too hot

It is very frustrating also because desperately want to just leave the miners alone. Every time you touch them, the more likely they will drop heat sinks it would seem.
Can You provide pictures of fallen heatsinks? I'm interested does only bigger heatsinks are falling or smaller also. Thx.

Edit: wrong positioned question mark.

Small radiators are tinned. They can not easy way fall off.

Thanks.
I'll forward the info/price to my Dad and see if he is interested. What version is on the boards themselves?

BTW, if anyone has any S5 hashing boards that DO work please PM me. Trying to help my Dad get his S5 running again. I'll give Colorado a call, but I don't think they sell anything, just support.

Any idea how to solve this?

All ASICs seem to be ok, but the miner does not start hashing. I read about reflashing firmware. Where can I find a tutorial to check this?

We can validate SN's of units and take pictures if you really don't believe we have these units.

I've fixed this before, but forgot what I've done. Can't remember at all. All dashes on the first row, and then sometimes a few X's on the second row. Sometimes starts hashing around 300-400G, but never above. Tried another PSU. This is my fathers rig, so I haven't asked him to try another controller. I'm guessing controller, hash board, or possibly a cable, but I doubt it is a cable. Any guesses? I just have remote access to it right now, but can ask my Dad to try a few things.

First thing i would do is turn the controller 180 degree and effectively swap the blade. If its now the bottom blade (on the webgui) thats dead, then you know its not the controller.

Assuming he tried a power cycle already.

You have only 26 chip on this board.
969  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S7's keep dying on: November 25, 2015, 12:17:13 PM
I am working on the fan problem at the moment. I have 3 fans plugged in. When it works it says 54 asic per board, but when not working on this controller it says 48 and 0 temp... On another controller it says 30 asic and 0 temp and all dashes instead of 0's

Its possible spaghetti code doesn't like more than 2 fans plugged into the controller.

doggie- do not write another BS comment.

I have eight double size S7 and they all show  four fan speeds.

My S7 AntMiner Setup - Let me know what you think

I think this is without a doubt,  the stupidest setup that I've seen so far.

You have a lot of free space on the shelves.
Why must   PSU  be behind  a miner and soak up the  hot air from miner?
Yes, I saw those blue boxes, this is not the solution.

Why you do not  put  power supply between the miners ?

Why must the miners to blow directly against the wall ?
Just to see these wonderful lights an S7 controller ?  These lights do not help in most cases.
You may think that a miner works because the lights are all on and blinking , but in reality, hashing speed may have  low or zero.

For  monitoring ants  use programs on PC, and you do not need to see any light on controller.
If, however, they need to see , then you should move away  the shelves from  the wall.
You can rotate miners  180 degrees , placing them blow hot air to a larger side of room.

Then you have to blow a lot of fresh air  at the wall side of miners.  Therefore, you need one more fan for that.

You can still use your ceiling fan for sucking warm air out , if you put a ventilation pipe in the middle of the room and combines it with existing fan.

However, it was very nice to see such a good solution for the distribution of electricity , and most importantly, nothing flammable (only these blue boxes can melt and burn)

My B4 at 575-1156W at the wall with EVGA1300 G2 gold (0.2513 J/Gh), 4600Gh 3960/3840rpm, 77F (25C) ambient
MY B5 at 625-1289W (0.2577 J/Gh) at the wall with EVGA1300 G2 Gold, 5001Gh, 4200/3960rpm, 77F
B5 was 1250, not 1210W at 600 with fan at 4400/4080

I mention fan speed because it affects W at the wall, naturally.

Was not with 220V and 40% Fan
973  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: November 24, 2015, 03:23:13 PM
Batch 8 ist mir nicht sympathisch... also halt bis nächstes Jahr warten, was scheisse ist..

why not, looks okay to me.

It is not OK, pay more BTC for overclocked miner.
Basic version of this miner was ANTMINER S7 BATCH 6  4TH/s and 4 BTC . I can overclock miner himself, If it's possible.

And Power Consumption: 1293W + 10% (at the wall, with APW3, 93% efficiency, 25C ambient temp)
with Hash Rate: 4.73 TH/s ±5%  does not in any way Power Efficiency: 0.25 J/GH + 10%

more like 0.273 W/Ghs  versus 0,249 W/GHs patch 3 and 5

So overclocking do not give better miners,  only more sales revenues for Bitmain.

I skip this batch and look forward to something better and not overclocked.

All right i never done this before, so I've to select "Upgrade" on the miner's menu and choose which one? I mean to the files, in my menu appears: Backup/Restore ; Flash New Firmware Image (and you already said that's not image file)

select "Upgrade" on the miner's menu, then Flash New Firmware Image  and use this file SD-S5-20150715-fan_ctrl.tar.gz

How do you create the image? I took the files that you posted before but doesn't work for me. I need to connect 4 blades with one control board

This  works for me with 3 and 4 blade

Thanks for the link, but I meant to the .imgc file yoy have it? Or can I just copy the 4 files over any SD to put it on the control board? I'm asking because I've read from Bitmain that I meed a soft (like HD Raw Copy) to create the image

This is not img file.
Just update your software.
977  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntMiner APW3-12-1600 PSU Series on: November 23, 2015, 04:11:53 PM

DPS-2000 + breakout board + S4's cables. You'll have to check if the breakout board has a limit per wire channel, I don't remember one.

Ohh dog-ie. You produce a pure loss for your  owner Bitmain with your barking.

BITMAIN AntMiner APW3-12-1600 PSU Series  hat is own separate power board to connect the PCI-E cables with S4 cables.

Named S4 Power_Board V1.0

The time to make corrections.

No more S4 Power_Board V1.0 breakout boards with new PSU.
My last bought  4 x APW3-12-1600-B2  came without this breakout board.

And dogie does not work anymore for Bitmain, which of course is not something strange. .
Free land. dogie  are now more committed to the Forum.

i still calc roi using : current diff + 50% current diff

market won't be dead yet . . . still many have high hopes. miners will be sold out when btc moves. 1 of the main issue is that s7 are still pre-orders, bmt might be doing some r&d + testing while the btc are being sent to them.

s7 is a pretty neat miner besides the 9+1 pcie's .... just my 2 cents

i'm gonna post this again, to those who have "merged" 2 in 1 s7 using single controller, withouth changing any settings, have you noticed that the hashrate is lower than 1 single controller ?

Is decreased, but not significantly.
I use only the very best miners in pairs.

Some of them are working at a frequency 625 (from batch 3)
2d17h       GH/S(avg)   10,063.61
1d21h       GH/S(avg)   10,107.83

Speed is more dependent on the ambient temperature and the PSU.

Waiting for the current six miners.

ANTMINER S7 BATCH 5 × 2
Batch 5 scheduled shipping date is in Nov. 23~Dec. 3.
ANTMINER S7 BATCH 6 × 2
Batch 6 scheduled shipping date is in Dec. 7~Dec. 17.
ANTMINER S7 BATCH 7  × 2
Batch 7 scheduled shipping date is in Dec. 7~17.

I think that they have been built and is currently being tested.

Which miners generates most heat as heat source to heat home or small garage?
I'm thinking about using miner (scrypt or bitcoin) to heat up closed space in my garage. which one generates most heat tho? or maybye some modification to increase heat output? what do you guys think?
titans  are great but loud and expensive and faulty often

If Titans are too loud for you, then you have  very few choices. KNC Jupiter or something water cooled. Water cooled S5 for example or Antminer C1
