17661  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Could bitcion theft be decreased with spending notifications. on: January 05, 2014, 04:11:21 PM
So if you have bitcoins on your computer, anyone can potentially steal them, or for all we know someone can steal them from a paper that they took from you, however this could potentially mean that you BOTH are now in control of the bitcoins.

Could services be set up that alert you if your bitcoins are attempting to be sent ? Basically they could delay the process of sending so it takes a few hours or so, and if you log into your account with the private key, you can cancel it. Of course both parties would now be able to cancel the transaction for the other one, but maybe you can somehow make it so a higher level authentication is required to decide who is the real owner ? Or alternatively the bitcoins could now be worthless as it can't be sent by either party, essentially destroying any incentive for someone to steal bitcoins, because despite the computing power they put into it, theres no spoils, making the entire prospect of stealing bitcoins ineffectual, and bitcoins stored online safer.

Well you can set up two factor authentication and you'll get alerts that way. On the blockchain.info I get a text message everytime I even load up my page.

Though from what I understand they can still be stolen ? If a protocol were put into place that slowed spending so a transaction had to take several hours, it would make it virtually impossible to take bitcoins because the person would be notified that they were being spent.

They can still be stolen even with notifications.

I don't think documentaries count haha.
17664  Other / Meta / Re: Integrated Tip function for BTCtalk. on: January 05, 2014, 03:47:44 PM
Just seems like something else that could go wrong.
I don't find it hard to copy-paste an address from someone's profile or signature.

Yeah, how would this integration work exactly? Easier just to do the above.
17665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Max Keiser rumour: Netflix considering bitcoin on: January 05, 2014, 03:46:34 PM
Bitcoin is flying at the minute. Wonder if this has anything to do with it?
17666  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinye West is your newest Bitcoin-inspired cryptocurrency on: January 05, 2014, 03:44:39 PM

Correct this is never going to stop.

I can't help but think this will be most epic pump and dump of all time.  Maybe if enough people get burned this will finally stop, but I doubt it.

I doubt it also, people who get in early and pump and dump will make a bit, but it's those bagholders that hold for too long that get burnt.

Isn't Doge pretty much dying now they hype has died off?

Depends on what you mean by dying off.  It's still #5 on coinwarz, and has been hovering around there.  What's been killing it has been the massive amounts of mining thrown at it.  And it's about a month old now... a straight up joke would've already crashed by now.  It does have a couple shops, reddit tips, etc... more than coinye will have at this rate.

It hasn't even been released yet has it? Both will be flash in the pans regardless.

Hi guys, I am sick, and have large bills to pay. I did attempt to explain my situation in detail once, however it didnt really work out. As my problem is rather unusual, I was called a scammer and when proved I wasn't, the thread was abandoned. Keeping it simple may be a better idea.

I would just ask you to spare some change really... it would add up if 10-15 people gave me 3-10 dollars worth of BTC. Currently I have around 500 dollars in unpaid bills, but I know that more will be coming soon raising the total to over 1000. This is what I can't take care of. What I could, I already did pay.

Xie xie.

99.9% of times these threads are scams. Everybody with any sense should treat them as such. It's also very rare that people ever donate to these threads regardless or truth or verifiable proof. Where is the thread where you offered proof of your illness?

I'd suggest just posting more and get paid out via your PD sig and you'll have some BTC.

2. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=344672.0

3. there may be some more. in any case, people are only interested in busting a scammer and onec its settled I am not one, they
disappear.

I don't really see any concrete proof in either of those threads, and like I said, it's very rare that people ever donate to these regardless or truth or verifiable proof.

well what would constitute proof for you? I contradicted many accusations. Also, in the end I ended up deleting some sensitive information, as this whole thing went too far. I offer you or anyone else who is willing to come out with his name to check anything they like on me. I will give you in private any relevant information, let you call hospitals too in Thailand for example. But since I know there would be no one taking me up on this, there is not much point.

Well, random pictures aren’t proof to me, but I don't require anything as I wont be donating and I doubt m/any other people will be either. I'm not sure even hospitals in Thailand will start giving out people's medical details over the phone, nor will probably anybody go this far to just check whether your story is legit or not. I'd suggest using your time in other ways, as even if you posted conclusive proof I doubt you'd get much in donations so your time would probably be better spent trying to make money other ways.
17669  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinye West is your newest Bitcoin-inspired cryptocurrency on: January 05, 2014, 03:27:05 PM
It certainly has possibility.  DOGE coin has held up moderately, and that was mostly post-launch publicity.  There's so much media talk about it right now, that if they can actually manage to capitalize on it, it might be okay.  But that also means its going to have a lot of mining at start, so they need to develop some services in advance, quite frankly.  And I've been sitting here watching the "devs" on the IRC channel, and I don't really see it getting much support at all, so at this rate its going to be nothing but a pump and dump - even tho cryptsy is going to list it right off.

Isn't Doge pretty much dying now they hype has died off?

17671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Feathercoin 'Link' file-sharing on: January 05, 2014, 03:19:01 PM
feathercoin is slowly dying , its developer is incompetent , Litecoin's Dev team has already exposed this.

What evidence is there that its dy'ing exactly?

it got 51% attacked, the developer was helpless to stop it and had to essentially beg a real dev to add advanced checkpointing so it didnt die off instantly. Which means, its just gonna die slowly now. I mean, it doesnt even have its own genesis block, talk about failure to copy and paste correctly lol

Still don't see how any of that is evidence that it's dying.
17672  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin generator - this is real? on: January 05, 2014, 03:13:31 PM
yes kamara45 i've just checked and this website is real

He's not asking whether the site is real, but whether the deal is.

Use this Bitcoin Generator to generate free Bitcoins and transfer them to your wallet, normaly it takes a lot of time to mine just one Bitcoin. This Turbo Miner is based on a big dedicated server network that utilizes the new brand-new SoftCore(TM) technology that is able to solve extensive equations, which are needed to mine Bitcoins, at lightning speeds!

To mine your free Bitcoins, simply enter your wallet address and the amount of Bitcoins you want, depending on the number of Bitcoins, it can take up to 5 minutes for the process to complete, please do not refresh your browser until the mining has finished!

And judging by this it's a blatant scam.
17673  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How did you find bitcoin? on: January 05, 2014, 03:10:38 PM
Through a documentary on a local newsprogram. One pub started accepting bitcoin as payment. Though I didn't really look into it until about 1 year later (unfortunatly).

Which pub? There's one in Oxford that accepts Feathercoins.

I want to get started mining as soon as possible since it's a new coin... but I don't see a download link, and I didn't find anything on Google.

Mootcoin? You sure you're not being trolled by 4chan?
17677  Other / Meta / Re: "Last Post" Nonsense on: January 05, 2014, 02:55:39 PM
Thanks. I tried posting to that one. Nobody responded.

Also, it's funny, but when I come on here, I try several things that don't work at all:

I click on "Watchlist" and nothing is listed, even though I check the option to add to the watchlist in every topic I post under.

So then I see the option on that same page that says "Add posted-to topics to watchlist". So I click that and it says "This will add all topics you've posted in to your watch list." I click "Do it."

Then I click Watchlist again, and there is still nothing there. lol

If nothing else, I'm learning an exercise in patience. Cheesy

Why do you need to add to watch-list if you've posted in the topic, isn't it essentially the same thing?
