2001  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mining ban in Europe on: October 22, 2022, 05:17:56 AM
https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2022/10/18/eu-countries-must-be-ready-to-block-crypto-mining-commission-says/
EU Countries Must Be Ready to Block Crypto Mining, Commission Says
"The European Union's executive arm also wants blockchains to show energy-efficiency labels and to end crypto tax breaks.
Europe represents 10% of global proof-of-work mining"

Can this affect the price of bitcoin or is this another anti-mining statement?

I have been one of the most optimistic people about Bitcoin, and its possibilies of changing the political landscape, but THAT might be a real problem if we also consider the negative effects on inflation caused by their own policies, and the Russo-Ukraine war.

I believe there must be a lobby against it, but the debate behind it will be weak, with winter coming and the further stress it will cause to the power grids.
2002  Other / Politics & Society / Re: High inflation is causing GLOBAL protests on: October 21, 2022, 01:17:48 PM
It's very amusing that when I started the topic, a lot of people didn't believe that inflation was truly coming. It's that, probably the situation wasn't just the same for the different regions around the globe, which made it look that the point of the topic is misunderstood. Inflation is coming if it has not arrived in your country yet, and it might not end until the war between Russia and Ukraine ends. Let's hope it will be soon.

Exactly, when the war starts or the Fed raises rates for the first and second time, some countries don't have much of an impact on them so they can't feel inflation coming. But in these days when energy supply is increasingly scarce, the Fed's interest rates were so high that the central banks couldn't take it anymore and raised interest rates in unison, commodity prices have increased by 15-20%, and every attention beginner. Inflation originated from the money injection from the covid 19 pandemic, but the war was the cause of the prolonged inflation.

All of the BRRR-Money-Printing started to put it all together. It was going to happen sooner, if not later. But because of supply side disruption caused by the Russo-Ukraine War, and the opening of the economy with all that COVID-19 money injected in circulation, it was caused to come sooner.

We haven't seen the worst of basic commodity price increases, plus more problems with winter approaching. The power grids in some regions of Europe will be further tested, and it won't be OK.
2003  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: "Gareth Soloway: BTC to 3,5k possible" How likely is that? on: October 21, 2022, 12:57:36 PM
What to do you think about this theory from Gareth Soloway:
https://www.kitco.com/news/2022-10-18/Bitcoin-could-fall-to-3-5K-as-recession-intensifies-and-stocks-collapse-Gareth-Soloway.html

He  argues that Amazon has fallen 95% in the dotcom bubble, and that the same could happen with Bitcoin.

How realistic do you think such a scenario is?

It has happened before, and with everything around the world tightening, let's assume that it WILL crash to $3,500. What  are you going to do? Run away in panic, OR be excited in having another golden opportunity to buy that DIP, and HODL? I truly believe that's the difference between those who make good, large profits, and those who don't.
2004  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Twitch To Ban Gambling Streaming By October 18th. on: October 21, 2022, 09:54:00 AM
I keep seeing Dlive.tv by stake.com. Is there other alternatives streaming platform for slots besides this?

I don't think there is another alternative. Now when Twitch doesn't allow streaming from some crypto casinos there's a lot of empty space... Even DLive is not as popular as I saw in some discussions on telegram, I think they don't have a lot of people hanging there. But just two days passed, and most of us wait for the last moment before moving, so in the next weeks/months we will see DLive getting more popular. Of course, if we don't see some new streaming platform entering in the crypto-gambling space.

There was BlackJack.fun user who calls himself "Kas" who was streaming through YouTube while he was playing BlackJack. YouTube could become the next video streaming platform preferred by casino players/gamblers. He was not banned, or blocked. I believe the bans only apply to marketers/promoters that doesn't share anything valuable, not to those who stream casino games for "educational" purposes. Cool

don't forget to join Gennady12 2mbtc Blackjack Freeroll Tournament that sponsored by @Gen and it will run for a week

thank you I was already forgotten Smiley and thank Gennady12 for such generous chance for all players, much appreciated!

Today I play my Free Spins in the game Dig Dig Digger but strangely the game plays a bit slow, are you guys experiencing it or is it just me?
I'm not sure if the problem is with my internet because when I open other sites everything is fine, I want to report to support but nothing is online yet
If we report via email most of my emails are ignored maybe because there are too many incoming emails from other users.

Today (and this last week) I had no issues at all everything is going smooth.
In this case you can just try from another device or just another internet connection (of course if available).
Last but not least delete cookies/reboot system and try to login again.

Yes that slow loading may be as a result of four internet connection as that user have said, try playing from another device or simply clear four cookies to.free up some space on your browser.

I have read some other users complain here of similar things like slow withdrawal and the team has said it is because some withdrawals are sometimes put through a manual process.

So we can say that blackjack fun is one casino that keeps updating its site and from time to time players may experience some traffic problems at the casinos.

Slow withdrawals are OK, if it's an account review, then that's GOOD too, it means that the BlackJack.fun developers/team are doing their job right to maintain the casino safety and security. Many of the forum posts I have read that accuses the casino of wrong-doing, posted from brand new/newbie accounts are suspicious. There was one accusing Stake Casino of blocking his withdrawals, but when he was asked for is I.D., he sent four different identities. Hahaha.
2006  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Twitch To Ban Gambling Streaming By October 18th. on: October 20, 2022, 11:40:13 AM
I believe if the casino game being streamed requires some strategy, like BlackJack and Craps, instead of being just a game of chance, and with the streamer actually teaching people about the maths and the probabilities of the game, Twitch wouldn't ban "gambling streaming". Did Twitch mention that poker player streamers would also be banned? Poker is not a game of chance/gambling.

I saw a useless video with the screen of a slot machine rolling over and over, winning 25,000x in every five rolls. That's what Twitch might be banning. Those useless streams.

It was slow earlier today, but the BJF team fixed it after some people in the chat-box were asking/joking why Diggy was slow, they said he probably requires more lotion to make it easier to "use him", and that he might give you three "Digs", and bring you into "his Narnia". Hahaha. Those people in the chat-box should be graded an "A" for creative story-telling. Plus when Diggy is gone again, they'll say he went to the hospital to find a cure for hemorroids.
2008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Split the prize or Reroll? on: October 20, 2022, 07:37:42 AM
Let's say you join a give away with other user and both have to select a number between 1 and 10, you go for 7 while he goes for 9. The winning number is 8.

If the prize is 0.1BTC what would you do? Split the prize and walk away with 0.05 or Reroll to gamble for the full prize?

I say it depends on the situation but judging the said scenario, I'm already lucky to win half of the prize and re-rolling it again doesn't guarantee that I will walk away with the full prize because my chances aren't that great too. Plus, in my situation, that kind of money is already huge as it would take me few months of labor just to have that amount.
If you are living on a country which dollars is really indeed valuable or high then you would be basically be agreeing on split and would already ensure that you had the money rather than on making yourself fight on

having a re-roll just because you do believe that you could get the entire amount on next roll which is really indicates that you are just being too greedy.

Well, everything would be depending on the organizer if ever they would decide to split up the prize in half with other winner or simply re-roll just to have that 1 winner.

How can it be being "too greedy"? It's a giveaway with having no personal financial risk for the player. Giveaways are supposed to be played for fun without any expectation of winning anything. Being greedy, or being an "opportunist", would be to join the giveaway with a profit-motive. I know participants are incentivized to join, but the prizes are supposed to be just a bonus.
Greed on the sense that you would really be liking to get that whole amount or bonus and wont really be tending nor like to share it up with other people Ex. 2 person. It might be a bonus but there were people who do really treat up that it was their money or something that they should own.

That's not greed. That's FEAR of not receiving any money from what actually is a free giveaway. Which also loses the real purpose of the giveaway in my opinion. It's supposed to be for fun for the community, not for receiving money to take home.

Quote

It might be that wrong on general perspective on using up the word but when it comes to impression it is really just similar or the same sense.

If you are that contented on 0.05 then you would look for something bigger since you do know that there are chances.

Understandable if the person is TRULY in need of that money. If he/she can go home with something extra for that day, then why not, no?
2009  Economy / Economics / Re: Germans are looking to firewood for energy as natural gas prices soar on: October 20, 2022, 07:26:35 AM
This is crazy, Germany in its history suffering alot. Country with good economic situation all of the sudden experiencing hard days. Country is experiencing drought that have revealed ancient stones and ships that sunk in the past. Opposite side it is experiencing the oil crisis, where the need for firewood peaks due to the lack of oil supply. In some part the labour shortage that keeps the production low and lack of components too a major problem as the country's economy is much on automotive industry. Now few banks are at the situation of closing and given its users deadline to withdraw the funds.

It's because they shut down their Nuclear power sources, replaced them with renewable energy, which we learned is unreliable, AND they made themselves reliant on Russia's natural gas as one of their main energy sources. Currently, they might have no other choice and turn on their fossil fuel power generation facilities because it's the easiest/fastest to bring back before winter.

No one can predict the war that will happen, if the only person who knows this war will happen can only be Russia because they are the one who started it. The fact that the Germans completely shut down fossil fuel energy production facilities is because they are thinking about global warming. But things wouldn't be as serious or as bad as they are if they weren't instigated by the Biden government to punish Russia. I think the Russians themselves could not have foreseen a drastic reaction from the EU towards them and vice versa. The biggest beneficiary in this case remains the Biden government.

No one can predict it, but Europe is in a higher probability to be in a war, and it might not only be vs. Russia. It might be  vs. China and North Korea as well.

The Black Swan, a Tactical Nuclear War. I believe that will crash ALL markets lower than COVID-19 Panic.

The problem is not about electricity to be solved by using nuclear power plant(s), it is all about the massive industries that were built in Germany which relied heavily on natural gas. As I've said before, they built their massive industrial economy on top of resources they never had which was the biggest mistake they made.

Whether Germany built an industry that relied on Natural Gas exports or not, the fact that they turned off their Nuclear  power plants, and made themselves dependent on Russia is the main problem.

Quote

This is one of the problems of globalization (ie. interdependence). Each country should learn to rely on itself base on their own geography and resources they have not what they have to import.

Globalization is merely the narrative. It's those politicians that brought them in their current situation through years and years of careless policies.

2011  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is anyone working in a "pruned download"? on: October 19, 2022, 11:50:18 AM

Home yes, school possibly, office only if you own the company. Putting non work software on your work PC is a good way to get fired. Also, unless you are remote work and connecting to an office PC, more and more offices are shutting down PCs and everything else at night. It's a bit more secure and saves power.

Unless you are government official of some corrupt country, than you can run anything you want Cheesy
I know several examples of people like that doing Bitcoin for years in some countries (maybe they still are), and story even broke out in news.

OR if you work for a government office, which 100% has dirty politicians, then you definitely SHOULD install a Bitcoin node in ALL those government computers. Make them mine unprofitably too! It will be considered a public service. Ot's probably one of the demonstrations of the importance of pruning, you can stealth-install Bitcoin nodes in computers you don't own. Cool

I play only Craps, and I'm a newbie/pleb. I believe you're right, I probably need to find a new betting strategy with lower win/lose volatility to help me avoid being emotional.

Has anyone tried to play Craps? It's one of the most enjoyable casino dice games with low house edge. A small amount of money can let you play for hours if you play a safe betting strategy like the Three-Point-Molly.
I would say that it’s not about being a newbie or a veteran neither, you could definitely become good overnight, all you have to do is study what the masters of blackjack does, what their strategy is, like mr.brightside, and repeat that and do not get out of the zone just because you lost some, if you keep grinding it, you would probably still lose Cheesy because it’s a casino and you should technically lose in the long run, but you would at least have a better angle on how to gamble, and would lose a lot less.

Craps is a game I have never gambled, it's beyond my scope of casino games, and I just do not like going into new games, like to stay with the ones I know.

I believe you, or EVERYONE, should definitely try it/learn to play it. What would probably be very good for the user/player is Craps is not a "game of chance" because there are some rolls that require more rolls to make a winning for losing bet, which encourages the use of different strategies to win in the game. There's no such thing as a "universal strategy".

I’m playing craps too because it has a low house edge and you can stay playing this game because there’s a draw on this game if on some bet choices while the payrate is good. I usually just bet on 4&10 including the doubles and play slow. You can win early with huge amount once your initial bets win without 7 appearing. But this game sometimes frustrating if you have no patience since this is a slow game if you are just betting 1 at a time.

I want to learn how to play it more properly, proper betting strategies and techniques in how to follow up to "Y" if "X" happens. There's a lot of guides and videos in YouTube, to which, my favorite is the Color Up channel.

There's many ways to win, but the secret is to know when to stop, because the 7 come in an average of 6 rolls, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgZZsvwV_3g

It's properly explained that if you win two rolls, you should reset your bets. I have not tried if we can pull our bets and reset, but we can skip some rolls.
2015  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Split the prize or Reroll? on: October 18, 2022, 08:18:52 AM
The value obtained is the reason many members prefer to split it if the prize is not as big as 0.05 (For me it is big) they may choose to reroll, but there are also those who choose to reroll because they are a risk taker.
Whatever it is because this is a giveaway, split it or rerolling it doesn't matter and should be no one will feel lost, the decisions should be determined by mutual agreement with other parties so both parties happy with that.

But from this viewpoint, if it's just a giveaway with no financial risk taken by you, personally if I was given that choice, I would choose the reroll. Giveaways are supposed to be fun for the community, it's not for getting anything from it except an enjoyable experience for everyone. The prize, if you win, should just be a bonus.

I believe that anyone who participates in giveaways SHOULD be a risk-taker.
2016  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is anyone working in a "pruned download"? on: October 18, 2022, 06:38:32 AM

Sometimes office/home/school computers can also double as a  Bitcoin node, no?

There's no reason a school runs a Bitcoin node, unless they taught it. Businesses and offices, and any other entity that uses bitcoin should be running one (preferably non-pruned).

Academia can run a node for any purpose, whether financial, educational, or experimental. But my point is running a node by using computers not "officially" supposed to run a node. If a rebellious school university employee secretly installed Bitcoin nodes in the computers at work for example. I believe pruned nodes will be quite useful for that. I know it's a bad example, but you get the point. It helps the network to give users the option how much disk space they want to allocate for their nodes.
2017  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is anyone working in a "pruned download"? on: October 17, 2022, 11:08:04 AM
Rant.....
I would really like to see the entire concept of the pruned node removed. Either run a node or don't. There seem to be more and more people who want to have a node running on drives that don't have enough space that wind up going the pruned node route and then wonder why they can't import a private key or are having some other issue that comes back to the fact that you can't go back to a full node without re-downloading everything. Spinning 1TB drives are under $40.00 as are 512GB SSD it's no longer that big a deal.
...end rant

-Dave

I don't know if I can agree, but yeah, the more actual archive nodes out there, the better for IDB for those new users. Especially for a decentralized network, the Bitcoin Blockchain must be made as redundant as possible. BUT pruned nodes also help Bitcoin to decentralize further by giving those computers with low available disk space to join the network. Sometimes office/home/school computers can also double as a  Bitcoin node, no?
2018  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What contests do you want to see on the Dice platform? on: October 17, 2022, 10:50:39 AM
As you already understood, we are a new platform that is only at the initial stage of its development. This week will be the finished integration of the automated bidding feature and we have been thinking about contests in this forum. That's why we're here and want to know which weekly contests you think would be interesting! Friends do you have any ideas related to dice game that you would like to see? We would appreciate any constructive feedback.

For contests, I believe it would be good for the casino to encourage the community to actually log in, and have the admins organize the contests IN the casino. Go to BlackJack.fun, it has a voting feature for who had the most wagers and biggest wins in an hourly, daily, and weekly basis. It encourges us plebs to follow, know the whales of the site, and talk to them in the chat-box. In the chat-box, there's a tipping feature for the whales to use to tip the plebs. It's a community.

For contests related to Dice Games, a CRAPS TOURNAMENT! Cool

Did anyone visit the chatbox? Everyone is looking for "Mr. Diggy". There were replies that said, "He's in the hospital being cured for hemorroids". Haha.

I believe this is because the Digdigdigger can’t access recently after the daily competition ends. Many user are waiting to claim the daily rewards spin while digger is showing error once we try to browse it. I still don’t claim my reward spin because I still can’t access it with an unknown error when I open it few hours ago. I guess it’s time for me to try dig again rn.

You didn't understand the joke of those people in the chat-box. They were making joke about "Diggy" being "used and abused", then he suffers from hemorroids! Hahaha!

It will give you slight advantage in any game that can be played that utilizes some form of strategy. I was so inspired by Mr. Brightside, that I played longer than my usual one or two hours, then I started losing in Craps, becoming emotional/no longer disciplined. Hahaha.

It wasn't a very big loss, but it would have been smaller if I quit before becoming emotional. Lesson learned. Cool

This is possible if you have done something for a long time and saw the advantages of it. If you are a newbie gambler and haven't played blackjack for too long, or any other game, and you see a strategy and you do it, and if you end up losing a few times in a row, then you are going to be pretty upset about it and change it.

However, if you are a master of it, and even if you lose a few times in a row, you will know that as long as you keep pushing it and follow your own rules, you are going to bounce back. This is only possible with experience, no newbie could be born this way, and brightside had that experience to grind through any problems along the way and win.
