As already said thanks for taking the time to do this. It's been a really great idea and definitely improved my view of the Bitcoin forum community. Fingers crossed for a block  Grin
2182  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: October 08, 2016, 09:54:35 AM
Thought I'd share a picture of my little home mining setup. Due to electricity cost and amount I can use I'm very limited to what I can run. 1x S7LN (sidehack'd), 3x Gekkos running on a raspi3. All powered by the EVGA 850 P2. This lot is just breaking even at the moment.

First set up:-

Revised/Current set up:-

this is smart Cheesy

Thanks very much. Only a hobby Wink

So when's the next block!?

I just got my 1200 GH\s miner running, so I guess I'm contributing something, one of those TH\s is me.

Patience is a virtue Wink

Have you not read the thread? I've already done this and been scammed. Youve walked straight into it!

If it drops down far enough and I win philipma1957 then stick it in to the solo pool and split it with everyone  Wink
2186  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ASIC Status and the power cords!! HELP! on: October 07, 2016, 10:25:00 AM
Ok, i think i wont make anything so i am just going to sell it and the psu, you know anyone who wants to buy any of them?

J

There's a hardware selling section on the forum. You could post in there. But you'd make more money selling it on eBay.
2187  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 100 watt or less miner.. With 16nm Chips.. on: October 06, 2016, 03:53:18 PM
So I mentioned earlier that the software guy is working on a test stick around a 14nm ASIC. I just found out the chip supplier won't be selling more chips, so it looks like the few I can build with sample chips will be the only ones to ever exist.

The software guy is gonna keep working on a driver because the hardware is pretty well working already.

The payment arrangement with him was a percentage of sales. But it looks an awful lot like that's not gonna happen, so I plan to auction off the few functional sticks I can build with sample chips in order to get him paid and cover some of the other dev costs.

I'll probably put up some other failed prototypes (A3218 and BM1385 based) and maybe some pod tests and such.

Not sure yet when that'll happen.

On a "good news" front, I did just send a rough hardware layout to Novak, who will be working on the controls for the new 16nm stick in progress. The control setup should port over pretty readily to pods and full-scale miners with the same chip. Hopefully this time the supplier doesn't fall through. So, our hopes for having a 100W or less miner with 16nm chips is still alive.

That's a shame. Well I hope I win one in the auctions  Grin

Good news about the progress on the 16nm stick. Fingers crossed they keep selling the chips  Wink

Depends on the rating of you psu. Bronze, silver, Gold, platinum or titanium. But the generation of chips in the S5 is old now and probably not that efficient anymore. Even with my platinum psu I actually make a small loss every month but I'm doing it as a hobby rather than wanting to make a profit. Only way to definitely make a small profit at our electricity rates in the U.K. Is to buy an S9 or R4 as they are the most effienct chips at the moment.
2189  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Have 18 $ BTC Want 13 $ Paypal ! on: October 06, 2016, 02:58:51 PM
Well yea hands up I just got scammed. Alls gone quiet. I'll be leaving him neg feedback (not that it makes any difference as he'll just buy another account). I'm sick of scum like this guy. I'm done trading with anyone apart from established traders.
Yeah dude, only the established here should be trusted from now on! There should be a stand on these bastards to stop this feeble nonsense to gather a couple of dollars to support their families or drug problems or whatever they are lying too you about.

This guy had the right idea! Wink
I can do that if u need a quick deal reply me we can ise escrow or you go first

I don't know annescrow that would deal with PayPal. Only way to do it with someone I trusted is to wait 180days, but who's going to wait that long. Anyway, definitely had enough now.

2193  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Are S7LN and S7 hashboards the same? on: October 05, 2016, 08:21:50 PM
Spoke to soon. It's stopped again. Looks like I may be breaking this for spares and giving up on the mining aspect unless someone has a spare S7LN board as I'd prefer it to have the larger heatsinks.
Are you sure the temperature is not dropping too low? I found that even an unmodded S7-LN likes to drop boards if the temperature goes below 52C. I have my fan on manual in order to keep the temperature between 56C and 60C.

Just an update.

Looks like it was a temperature issue. Closed the windows and now its been running almost three days without fault. Great suggestion in2tactics  Grin
2194  Bitcoin / Hardware / PWM splitter from control board on: October 05, 2016, 08:12:45 PM
Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had used a PWM splitter from any Antminer controlboards? How did it react? Obviously it would run at the same speed as the attached fans but just wondered if it was possible.

Thanks.
2195  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ASIC Status and the power cords!! HELP! on: October 05, 2016, 08:05:48 PM
You wont be able to make it any cheaper unless you underclock it more, but you'll hashrate. I assume you are on normal tariff energy and not the old school economy 7??  If you are the only way to be more profitable is to buy a better asic.

I currently have an S7-LN which runs 2.7Th but ive got it underclocked to run at a little over 2Th. That along with 3 gekkoscience usb miners running off a raspberry pi 3 draw 490watts at the wall from an EVGA 850 P2 (which has more than enough pci-e cables).

Hopefully will be upgrading to a an R4 or S9 at some point. but we will see.

There are profitability calculators out there to help you work out how much you will make/lose based on hashrate and power consumption.

Solar panels would be good, but as you said, they are expensive and you would need to store that power aswell. Having such a power hungry machine will ruin standard car batteries. Being in the UK what about a wind turbine?
2196  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Your .17 BTC for my $110.00 PayPal on: October 05, 2016, 05:45:19 PM
With all the accounts being hacked etc at the moment, could you give a reason for the lack of activity before this post? A couple of months of no posts at ok then suddenly selling btc for PayPal. Huh
2197  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ASIC Status and the power cords!! HELP! on: October 05, 2016, 04:03:26 PM
Find out your cost per kwh of electricity. British Gas is £0.13per Kwh.

Say you down clocked it and it pulled 500w at the wall. your miner would cost you approximately 6.5p per hour. 24x6.5= £1.56 per day. Which would cost approximately £46.80 a month.

Buy a plug in power meter and input your cost per kwh and the meter will do the rest.

I use this one :-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Plug-In-Electricity-Power-Consumption-Meter-Energy-Monitor-Kwh-Watt-Calculator-/221850029527?hash=item33a74acdd7:g:-04AAOSwHnFVyd1O

and it works well.
2198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining With My Laptop Nowadays on: October 04, 2016, 07:07:17 PM
Absolutely no point mining bitcoin with your laptop. You should post in the altcoins section and their may be a coin you can mine but it will shorten the lifespan of your laptop.
2199  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Final Diff thread prize is $75 runs Sept 25 to OCT? picks are now open. on: October 04, 2016, 04:01:51 PM
Just check it and was at +5.61% then it refreshed and now +5.41%. Heading to wrong way for me.

Thanks for doing this competition philipma1957. I joined late but appreciate the fact you did this of your own accord and kept it going for as long as you did  Smiley
2200  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Loudness of S9 on: October 04, 2016, 11:46:47 AM
Underclock it and turn the fans down to a manual percentage. Acoustic ducting either end to deaden the sound. I saw a video that one guy changed the exhaust fan to a corsair or something as the original fans ran at slightly different speeds and was causing some kind of resonance in the miner.
