Can anything be done about all the empty tables in the lobby?  Looking at PLO there are currently 7 empty tables at 50 PLO, 4 at 100 PLO and 8 at 200 PLO, this is for 6max and there are 9 handed empty tables as well.

To whom it may concern

open client and go to >Hold'em >No Limit > Micro there you will see so many tables and all with zero players. how can we get rid of those tables. to much scrolling for nothing.

hey guys / sorry about that but ST6 is testing some stuff and needs to leave 'em up for a bit longer for testing

IMO sort by players at tables.

I see you are still testing Huh

And looks like possibility to use monero as is on 64 bit windows with 4 GB RAM will be over very soon.

Can you elaborate on this point. Why would you require more than 4GB of ram in the future to run monero? (i'm pretty sure the computer im using has 4gb of ram)

because bitmonerod has to load the entire blockchain on the ram as of now, and its larger than the actual size on disk

If you're still running 32-bit, you probably are a senior or something and shouldn't be messing with magic internet money.

I'm running 64-bit and 4GB RAM.  With Monero and nothing else running my RAM usage is at 80%

ETA: Windows 8.1 so not all of the 80% is Monero.  Monero is ~ 2.3 GB

Well, it's a little more complicated than that.

You say Monero is 2.3GB and it has to be loaded into memory, however, that may not mean what you think it does.  See, on a 64-bit Windows computer, you can run a process that requires 16GB of active memory on a machine that only has 4GB of physical RAM installed.  It can do this by virtue of virtual memory.  Virtual memory is a contiguous memory space available for running processes that sits atop multiple memory spaces.  Indeed there is the physical memory, but the paging file is included and L-cache memory is included as well.  Processes that exhaust the available physical memory, get paged out to the paging file which is part of the same contiguous allocated memory space.  Paging space is order of magnitude slower than physical memory, but is very useful for a) efficient physical RAM utilization (seldom access memory or pre-cached memory can be paged out to the file, freeing up much faster RAM) and b) spikes in memory needs that exceed installed RAM.  Heavy paging will induce disk thrashing which will slow the system down drastically, but that is secondary to this explanation.

Point to all this is that the blockchain can grow quite large (>4GB) and still be functional on a 64-bit Windows machine with 4GB of physical RAM assuming a sufficiently sized paging file is defined which is default on later Windows installs.  Will it be a pleasant experience?  No, but it will be functional.

32-bit OS are not included in the above scenario, however.  32-bit OS's only allow for a 4GB address space in total for any given process.  Furthermore, that 4GB space is then divided into a 2GB application space and a 2GB OS space so a process needing more than 2GB of usable space cannot function.  Now, you can enable PAE to shift this split to 3GB/1GB, but you're still going to ride up against that 3GB cap at some point.  Applications can be written to use AWE memory, but, well, this is getting pointless.  Instead of trying to fix this issue in code, change the operation so that the blockchain is kept in a DB with only a small part loaded in active memory at any given time and be done with it.  Exactly what the developers are working on.

Thank you for trying to educate the Drooling Masses® and doing so in a clear manner.  I had already decided to upgrade to 8GB RAM but haven't done so due to being caught in the finger trap of life.

The seed phrase suffices to recover a wallet.  Remember to delete simplewallet.log once you have recorded it.

I think the devs should emphatically warn about this, it can be a huge security risk.

The seed isn't in the log, we removed that ages ago:)

I believe I created my wallet about a little over a month ago.  I deleted my log file 2 days ago and the seed was there.

Bump for update. Also, I should be making Windows x64 binaries shortly, provided I don't get distracted.

This is exciting news.  I'll be waiting Smiley

Oh, yeah, done. See OP.

Okay, done. Have a Windows x64 binary for non-AES-NI. Does it submit shares? Yes. Does it work on a non-AES-NI system? Beats me. Huh Huh Huh Huh

Where does a first time miner find instructions?  I have looked around in various places to no avail.

Why is there so much wrong? I hope anyone help me, thank you very much!

Please please.
When you start bitmonerod
Type :
set_log 0
and stop reading it.

Perhaps the log should read the current progress of chain download by default, and nothing else?

Aren't some of the messages important?  If so what setting would give you those?
2269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: July 07, 2014, 08:17:22 PM
Any PoS coin that has an IPO will never get far. Incase you guys haven't noticed, Bitcointalk.org is not the public, having an IPO where even 10,000 "real" members take part is still an extremely unfair distribution.
With PoW, anyone can go and try and mine, no matter how late they are to the scene. I had a friend try and mine Bitcoin on his cpu, hey at least he tried and could of gotten some if he was successfull, but that could never happen with PoS coins.
Darkota, not get offended please, but you are an ignorant prick.
What is the different between buying a coin and buying the mining equipment to average joe?
If you have spent 10k usd in mining equipment and IPOs take the lead, dont be so butthurt and open your mind.
You are welcome.
Are you this simple minded?
With an IPO an pure PoS coins, there is a limited amount of time you are able to become a stakeholder, so the ones who get in early have a hugely unfair advantage over everyone else
With a PoW coin, you can always mine if you want, for decades to come, and the ones that get in early have an advantage, but not by that much.(Ex: Bitcoin etc etc)
For EX: The first 50 accounts on NXT's richlist own over 48% of all coins there is...
Do your Homework please.

That's not a good argument sorry.
On PoW, few big miners/company will be owning over 50% of the hardware so, it end up the same.

Actually, it is worse : 3 pools own 95% of the network.

Hardware =/coins
Unless they keep all the coins the distribution is not even close.

Miners =/ Pool
The pools are comprised of many miners so it's not the pool's owning the network without the miners.
Also the current stats for total hr of the 3 largest pools is 60%.

Congratulations to BETCOIN.AG on growing such a very impressive pokerhouse alongside the sleak new sportsbook facelift. It's really exciting to see betcoinpoker's GTD tournament prizes reaching epic bitcoin industry highs. The 0.334 BTC buyin for a shot at 150 BTC GTD ($100,000) split prize!!  WOW !! Then with all the variety of Hourly GTD tourneys, the On Demand tourneys, and many often overlapping freerolls is enuff to keep anyone grinding all day I'm sure. Now that I have worked with support on 2-3 minor issues and 1 a bit larger to which Customer Satisfaction was exceptional and beyond expectations. A high level of trust with a strong proven integrity leads me to believe we have a new winner for Biggest Online Bitcoin Poker site.

#godspeed betcoinpoker

If they are the winner of the biggest bitcoin poker site how come there are almost no cash games running?  I am mostly a cash game player.

They now share tournaments with the Winning Poker Network as they run the same software.  These tournaments have twice the fee of bitcoin sites.

I have an accounts on 2 WPN skins so this does nothing for me.

Drooling Masses® here.

I have read the entire thread and need some help please.  I have a Pentium G3220 64 bit Non AES_NI processor using windows 8.1 and downloaded the appropriate binary.  Post 259 dated 6/16 stated that it was not working and nothing mentioned after that.  I assume it is working now?  Even though I will get a slow hr I would like to participate.

I need to know what to do from here.  What folder do I extract it to?  What do I do after that?  There are good instructions on some of the pools what to do with one's miner and I need to know how to get the miner operational.

Thank you for your consideration.

what will happen if i delete simplewallet.log which is 100gb from my wallet folder?Do i loose all?

nothing, you should delete it from time to time, only if you created a new wallet recently the seed is also saved there, other than that nothing useful for the common user.

I have my seed stored in multiple safe locations.  Am I correct to assume it would be ok to delete the log file aka text document?

Also should the bitmonerod text document be deleted from time to time?

Thank you, the drooling masses Smiley
2274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [CryptoNote] A complete forking guide to create your own CryptoNote currency on: July 04, 2014, 01:30:28 AM

According to our roadmap it is time for new CryptoNote currencies to emerge so that the whole CryptoNote platform becomes more stable and diversified. Apart form what I've mentioned above, this will also lead to more significant contribution from the community and much faster technology development. We're already working on the crypto protocol documentation to help you, but this will take some time. What you are largely misunderstanding is that CryptoNote is still relatively raw as the technology and requires more attention to gain momentum.

In the past 2 1/2 months 7 cryptonote coins have been introduced.  Is this pace too slow for you?  At this rate there will be there will be 25 by the end of the year.  Is this not enough for development purposes?

This change enables players to play the tournaments on the Winning Poker Network.  These have larger fields and therefore larger prizepools.  However most of those tournaments charge a 10% fee as opposed to the 5% that Betcoin currently does.

Any plans to complete your transformation to becoming a skin of WPN and offer accesss to their cash games?  Of course those games charge a 10% rake as opposed to Betcoin's 5% but at least there are players.  If so would you change your rewards program to compensate for the increased rake?

Hey everyone, I'm new to altcoins and Monero in particular and after a little bit of reading just bought about 140 XRM at about 0.00357 after fees at MintPal.

This is my only altcoin I've ever bought and got a couple of questions:

1: What's the best (for newbies) usable Monero wallet at the moment?

2: What would you guys think is a good percentage of Monero holding : BTC holding at the moment? I believe Monero will be pretty popular soon (if it isn't already) and don't want to miss out so I could definately switch a high percentage of my BTC holdings towards Monero if that adviseable.

Thanks!

There is a GUI looking good depending on your platform.
Everyone seems to use SimpleWallet. Maybe someone can post the URL to the guide.

2) At least 10% IMO depending on your risk tolerance and cost basis - good prices available to get in. Typically they say a stock trader should put no more than 10% per investment to mitigate risk. So, let's double that for a "strong" investment.

OK Smiley https://monerotalk.org/t/bounty-create-a-useful-tutorial-on-how-to-setup-monero-closed/13

10% you say?  I had 100% in btc.  Of that I put a significant % in Monero.

Btc is a sure thing.  Monero I haven't a clue.  So why did I do it?  I'm blaming the mirror neurons.

I have my btc info in a safety deposit box and I also gave it to somebody I can trust with my life.  I recently added my Seals info.  I have money on 3 other poker sites as well as an alt coin and after replying to you I realize that I should add that info now.  This is not only for my benefit but if when something happens to me those i love can access it.
2280  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: June 30, 2014, 07:06:05 PM
Life on earth is 3.5 billion years old, the life of the universe is 17 billion years. Before our star was even born life could have existed elsewhere for 13 billion years!!!

Think of what we have discovered about DNA and life in a mere 100 years of modern science. Now fast forward even 1 billion years from now!!!

It is more probable than not that we are simply an experiment in creation by what we either call Aliens or Gods. The religious prefer God because they have no other explanation for it. In a billion years will we have harnessed the knowledge of the suns, the galaxy, DNA, life itself? Will we not be able to travel through space at our will? Will we not be Gods to others? Of course we will. We have historical proof, Columbus was a God to the Americas.

Earth is a fish bowl, a petri dish, a scientific experiment, we are the subjects, for now.

Universe is 13.8 bil years old, not 17 bil
Life on earth is 3.8 bil years old

However, the rest of the post is pure speculation.

Sounds like all speculation then.  How many times has the supposed age of the universe changed in the last 20 years?  Why believe it this time?

Because our measurements keep getting better to the point that the changes to our estimations get smaller each time.  The last change was due to the information from the Planck satellite which has given us the most precise measurements of the cosmic microwave background radiation.  It detects variations to, if I remember correctly, of around a millionth of a degree.  This changed our best estimate from 13.7 to 13.8 billion years.  You will still see it listed as 13.7 in some places.

Theories are nice but you must do experiments to test them.
