2541  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Don't trade if you're inexperience rather stake your coins. on: September 17, 2020, 03:18:34 PM
~ Recently, I saw a potential signal on Binance with CHR but was disappointed after my order as the altcoin get dipper.
This is a mistake. You didn't really trade here, you only followed a signal blindly without understanding whether it has been oversold or overbought. More than 90% of the time, you will get rekt if you follow these trading signals. They prey on gullible followers and subscribers.
You're wrong; I traded there, have  been into trade even with my inexperience skills but yet  made good gains. The said signal was 08-28-14:01:09(bought)  -  09-01-23:21:35 (traded) if you can analyze this better, any available signal at my end must be analyze before any action be taken. This was a pure and clear signal but something happened somewhere; hope am able to figure it out next time. Suggestions has been made here which I will run with this time.
This is getting more confusing now. I thought you created this thread because you are complaining that you've lost in trading but here you are saying that you've made gains. Which is it?

Can you clarify what this signal is? Did you get it from analyzing charts? If so, what were the indicators that you used? I thought you got it from trading signals of pump and dump groups.

What do you mean by "pure and clear" signal? If that's some sort of assurance that you'll profit if you follow it, I hate to break it down to you but there's no such thing. The data changes quickly and the market can flip in a matter of minutes. Even using moving averages, which I think are best for removing "noise", is never a guarantee that you'll get it right.
2542  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: September 17, 2020, 02:58:41 PM
Did anyone see the weekend's Bellator card? I only watched the highlights but there was one of the worse crotch shots I'd ever seen in the headliner fight between Raymond Daniels and Peter Stanonik. Daniel's did a spinning back kick right to the dick then he went and did another one straight after which was even worse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zb72ZwYhKTE
My goodness, that was painful to watch. The fight should have ended after the first spinning kick. Really stupid for the other guy to do the same thing just seconds after the fight resumed. He must have been sparring with shorter fighters when he was practicing that.

Good card for UFC Fight Night.

Covington wouldn't dare exchange blows against Woodley. He'll take him to the ground for sure. He'll try to throw punches here and there to mix it up but the end game is to finish the fight in the ground via submission or TKO. If the fight goes to the 5th round, Woodley would end up frustrated lying on the ground most of the fight.

I prefer Cowboy to retire. He probably has little power left in his kicks but he doesn't have a good chin anymore. Niko might not be that skilled in striking compared to Cowboy but the guy has some serious KO power. He finishes opponents in some weird ways too, just look at how he KO'd someone with a hammer fist while on his back  Grin

For Khamzat Chimaev, well, what else can we say about this guy? I don't know if it's even worth it to check his opponent.

2544  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken Wins Bank Charter Approval on: September 17, 2020, 12:46:42 PM
Not that we didn't see the approval coming. Kraken must have complied with all of the FATF, Travel Rule, KYC, AML, and all the other possible banking regulation these financial institutions can throw at to crypto exchanges.

From time to time, I see people asking more options buying bitcoin using credit/debit cards other than Coinbase. This should be a welcome news to them as well. Hopefully, Kraken will offer cheaper fees or maybe even remove all charges for their customers.
2545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you guys tackle information overload? on: September 17, 2020, 12:22:00 PM
~ Perhaps the problems lies with too much projects you want to invest in the first place. So take it slowly, best of luck to your investment journey.
My thoughts exactly. OP is probably rushing it and thinking he needs to finish reading this project at a specific time because there are more projects lined up.

@daobingsu how many whitepapers do you review every week? If it's 10 or more, try skimming each of them first. Separate the projects that interests you then read further. Before doing that, you must have your own basic standards on what projects you think is good in the long term.

~ Despite our efforts to ensure we make some progress, the industry doesn't give us a chance.
The market maybe harsh but it gives everyone an equal opportunity. Those who grind and learn consistently will survive. Those who only follow signals and other "expert" opinions blindly will lose.

~ As an inexperience trader before now,  how do metamorphosed to become experience in trade?.
TRADE. Sounds ironic right? but it's really not. You can read books, watch tutorials on youtube, or even practice using demo accounts but the best way to become good at it is to actually trade. You can try with small minimum amounts and apply whatever it is that you've learned so far from reading, watching, or practicing.

2547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Contract Deployment Failed - MetaMask on: September 17, 2020, 11:35:22 AM
^ Apologies for the confusion and for the incomplete explanation. I meant to say use the formula I gave in computing for the "intrinsic gas" value only.

As you may know, the default "gas limit" is set at 21,000. From there, you need to add the gas for every byte of data (*4 for zero bytes; *68 for non-zero bytes). You might need to add another 32,000 [1].

Once you're done with that, deploy using the gas price recommended by ethgasstation or etherscan.

a. bech32 or native segwit
b. p2pkh or legacy bitcoin address
c. P2sh or nested segwit

2550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance sued for money laundering over stolen bitcoin. on: September 16, 2020, 04:22:44 PM
~
So if I anonymously trade peer-to-peer and buy some bitcoin which happens to have come from a hack, through no fault of my own I deserve to have my coins seized and my account frozen as soon as they touch an exchange? Whatever happened to fungibility?
No, it's not fair to block an 'honest' buyer's account because of the origin but that's another matter. Was I implying that it should be blocked? I certainly wasn't thinking about that when I said they still came from the same exchange.

~
I talked about crystal ball because I doubt anyone would transfer so much stolen money to an exchange where he could only withdraw 2 bitcoins a day, while that person could simply use many mixers that all his work would be much easier.
Based on the links shared in this thread so far, hacker/s actually created multiple accounts.
Some of the stolen funds were also mixed.

Let's admit that Binance has partly fault here.
First off, they have weak KYC protocols.
Second, they have high withdrawal limits.
Their KYC protocol and withdrawal limit are just fine to me. IIRC, they even partnered with Chainalysis and Ciphertrace to improve their AML/KYC compliance. Are they partly at fault here? I'd rather leave that to the court with jurisdiction of the case.
2551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin society on: September 16, 2020, 03:52:23 PM
I'd rather call it the crypto community which comprises of bitcoin maximalists, shitcoin maximalists, and those in the middle. In this community, you see a lot of infighting. One group accusing the other crypto as scams and insecure. The other group counters and calls the other as old tech  Grin

Those who view crypto as easy money are not really part of the community, they are merely passerby. Those who see crypto like bitcoin as a scam without even trying to learn do not belong here also, they're just spectators.
2552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance sued for money laundering over stolen bitcoin. on: September 15, 2020, 05:32:03 PM
~
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm on Binance's side here. It is not their responsibility to cover for the mistakes and poor security of other exchanges. Someone contacting them and saying "Can you freeze these funds?", especially when those funds have come from multiple different addresses and could all have changed hands prior to reaching Binance, should not be sufficient for users to have their Binance accounts locked or frozen.

We should not be encouraging the development of a nanny state. If you want to use money which can be arbitrarily frozen or seized, then stick to fiat.
Like I said above, I also doubt Binance will held liable because I was also thinking it would be difficult to prove that the addresses used to transfer funds belong to the hacker/s. The accuser assumed they were and was expecting Binance to believe him but they didn't.

I was restating what was in the news and what was in that medium link you also shared as a response to the "it looks like Binance has some crystal ball to know that deposit X came from hacked bitcoin" statement. Regardless of who owned those bitcoins when it was deposited, they still came from the hacked exchange.
2553  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DeFi protocol bZx attacked once again, lost $8 million on: September 15, 2020, 04:48:48 PM
Yup. These codes are made by humans, audited by humans, and we all know humans make mistakes.
It's not a reason from "AUDIT Platform" for any kind of business and their service.

They have a service to audit the source code and become the third resource from "non-tech" who doesn't know about programmer and code think and make them secure with the code platform was really safe. Because we have two audit platform who audit the code not only one, and try to accepting the mistake audit because they are human when we have 2 audit platform who make the audit of source code.

If one maybe can accept it, but if more than one still a big question for audit service on how they audit the code.
It shouldn't be use as an excuse, true. My point was to never completely trust the codes and the third party who audits them because it's still prone to human error. It could have been reviewed by three or more and there's still that possibility to miss some codes that can be exploited by hackers.
2554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance sued for money laundering over stolen bitcoin. on: September 15, 2020, 04:39:20 PM
I doubt Binance will be held liable for money laundering but I'm still interested on how this will pan out. If ever they're charged as guilty, that will probably force their hand to change the no KYC for 2 btc or less withdrawal policy. That will be another game changer and will shake the CEX leaderboard.

~
It was the fault of the poor security of the bag. What I can't understand this Japanese Exchange is accusing binance when they know it is their fault, it looks like Binance has some crystal ball to know that deposit X came from hacked bitcoin. What this Japanese exchange should do was ask for help with binance and not be accusing Binance
They don't need to have a crystal ball. The bitcoins allegedly sent by the hackers to Binance were not even mixed so it can be seen on the blockchain. As stated in the news, Binance was informed by the Japanese exchange but they never bothered to hold the funds.

2556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Contract Deployment Failed - MetaMask on: September 15, 2020, 12:40:14 AM
Try this formula in computing the transaction fee when deploying contract.

Intrinsic value/gas limit (currently at 21,000)
+
Fee for all bytes (No. of bytes * 68 gas)

Give us an update if it still fails or if it worked.
2557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DeFi protocol bZx attacked once again, lost $8 million on: September 14, 2020, 04:43:26 PM
UPDATE from bZX:

We are relieved to announce that the missing funds are now restored. More information will follow.

Yes, smart contracts are in defi - like a sieve, everything is in bugs and vulnerabilities. bZx had 2 audits, so what? Nothing helped, money is still lost.  Angry
Yup. These codes are made by humans, audited by humans, and we all know humans make mistakes.

"Code is Law" is not true at all.

I do not know what is the rush? I mean everyone seems to be in a hurry to launch their defi platforms without even testing and without any kind of security audits whatsoever which is now evident to cause loss of millions, the industry needs to show maturity and professionalism to thrive forward otherwise it can hurt itself.
This is not the same as the new DeFi projects coming out recently. bZx has been around since 2018 and its code had been audited too. Unfortunately, the hacker still managed to exploit something that the code auditors failed to see. What's more disappointing is that this is the third attack this year alone.
2558  Economy / Gambling / Re: Witch.gg - BOOST YOUR CRYPTO WALLET EVERYDAY! on: September 14, 2020, 04:22:27 PM
I tried to create an account but I'm greeted with "Continue with STEAM or GOOGLE". I think you should create more option for that. I personally don't want to connect my accounts to other platforms like yours.

Also, add another option for cryptocurrency deposit like Doge. This will be helpful to players when Bitcoin and Ethereum networks gets congested especially on weekdays. Transaction fees are crazy high for these two when you want to transfer fast.
2559  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Automated Trading Challenge - Start with $1000 on: September 14, 2020, 03:54:02 PM
Good start!

Few questions:
1. May I ask what your target profit is here?
2. Are you planning to set up a pool for community trading too?
3. Will you be sticking to Binance for this particular trading challenge?

A couple of months back, I saw a trader's story (not here) turn it's $1,000 into $100,000 in 3 months, if I remember correctly, from playing in crypto and in stocks. It could be true of just made up because the strategy and the account/s wasn't made public.
2560  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Storing your Crypto in Exchanges is better than using Cold Wallets! on: September 14, 2020, 02:55:14 PM
Storing in large exchanges and implementing AML / KYC and many other layers of security are better than trying to keep them in devices like Ledger, Trezor, or on a computer. They are at risk when we lose the device or get a virus.
Then you are a bit ignorant on how these hardware wallet and non-custodial wallet works. This has been pointed out already but let me repeat, seed phrases and private keys of your wallet can be save and kept in a safe place. In case your ledger or trezor is lost, you can buy a new one then import the seed phrase/private key of the old wallet.

I usually keep my money on exchanges for many years. Most of them are reputable exchanges and large exchanges because they have better security systems and can return the money I had stolen if that happened.
Mate, have you even followed news on hacked exchanges? Exchanges can't just magically come up with the lost funds. Take for example Cryptopia which was hacked early last year but users, who kept their funds there, are still waiting for a refund until now. If you want another example, read on Mt. Gox.
