2541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I made a mistake shorting BTC at 17k on: October 26, 2022, 03:05:17 AM
Short/long/leverage is gambling against financial sharks/whales.

Stick to hodl next time.

This. What the OP has done is to play roulette, and, although we cannot know the result a priori, we have more indications that we have touched the bottom or are close to it than the opposite. While the stock market has continued to go down these months, the Bitcoin has remained roughly in the range it is in.

To short the Bitcoin as a retail investor on pure intuition is to be a minnow and get close to where the sharks are.

*The fact that xenophobes and racists are largely the same, and that the xenophobes who wanted us to leave the EU did so in large part to get rid of people from India and Pakistan, despite India and Pakistan not being a part of Europe, says a lot about the intellectual wattage of the electorate and the wisdom of holding a plebiscite on anything important.

Interesting on the one hand, and on the other hand it seems to me like the Alice in Wonderland story but in reverse.

You mean the 14 million or so people who voted Conservative in 2019 are racists and moreover so dumb that they didn't know that with brexit they were not going to get rid of Indians and Pakistanis?

You missed the one about them being poor and voting Conservative because they want to feel part of an elite or something.

2543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Impact of Bitcoin on: October 25, 2022, 03:24:40 AM
Today, bitcoin and other cryptocurrency can be converted into other forms of money and deposited into user's accounts in an instant. Most crypto can be transacted anonymously, generally safe to use and difficult for malicious hackers to break.

A shame that a person with the seniority on this forum that you have is talking about converting bitcoin to fiat to pay instead of paying directly with it. And then that in the second sentence you somehow identify bitcoin and cryptocurrencies when they are essentially different is already the last straw.

Bitcoin is having more and more impact on society, just like cryptocurrencies but the latter are just another part of the system while the former at least was devised as an alternative to it. Another thing is that in daily use many people acquire or transfer them through centralized entities.

I just won 0.01 BTC Jackpot on Freebitco.in!!!

Started with only ~4k sats from free rolls, played the 0.00000002 jackpot for a bit then got 10k. Moved up once to the 0.0000013 jackpot and got 100k.

Here's the 8888 that's going to let me pay my light bill on time.  Cheesy

Hey, congrats man, but I don't know if I'm not looking at it right or something, but I can't see the jackpot. I see the 0.01 and change but not the jackpot in your history.
2545  Economy / Economics / Re: Not financial advise. Just an example. on: October 25, 2022, 03:05:38 AM
Well, the first thing would be not to have behaved stupidly and not to have gotten into so much credit card debt. But as played (a phrase we use a lot in poker) I would use the snowball method: pay off small debts first, regardless of the interest. From smaller debt to bigger debt. It doesn't make mathematical sense so much as psychological sense, and that's the important thing.
2546  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you get over a bad loss? on: October 25, 2022, 02:57:39 AM
What's your favorite thing to do when you get a bad loss?

Well, I am going to refer to poker specifically, since I play casino games on an occasional basis, with money that I can afford to lose, and I never exceed the budget that I have foreseen.

As for poker, I could divide the question in two: what is a bad beat and what is a bad session. Bad beads are something you get used to when you've been playing for years. Having more than a 90% chance of winning on the turn and losing on the river happens to me every day, so I'm (most of the time) emotionally neutral.

In bad sessions usually happen several bad beats and coolers and the best way to deal with it is emotionally neutral too, although we are human and sometimes it can affect your mood a little. If that's the case, I make the session shorter. I close earlier, and come back when I'm more rested, to play as emotionally neutral as I can.

2547  Other / Archival / Re: [LIST] Campaign Management Services on: October 24, 2022, 11:46:20 AM
That's surprising. I didn't know that he still does that. The last thing I saw or heard of Royse777 was that he asked those who had him in their trust lists to remove him. Seems a bit unorthodox to me to ask that and then resume campaign management services.

That's not the only thing that seems "unorthodox" to me, to say the least. Like presenting herself as a victim of Bitlucy and going supposedly on a cooling off period while was launching a big project hiding her real identity.

Thus my negative tag.

By the way, why are you referring to Royse777 as "her"? Grin
Did he, I mean she, identify as female somewhere?

No, it's just that the name sounds feminine to me, like Rose. But she might be gender fluid or something, or some of the other 82 supposed genders.
2548  Other / Archival / Re: [LIST] Campaign Management Services on: October 24, 2022, 09:32:17 AM
Maybe icopress or someone else can create another similar up-to-date thread if for whatever reason Ratimov is not interested in updating this one.
There are already a few active, is it necessary to create more lists? Creating more and more will make it less interesting to keep it up to date lol. pugman has a dedicated thread for the management service list although he doesn't update it recently but tranthidung one is up to date including many more services.
Thread by pugman- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4412712.0
By tranthidung- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5406507.0

I didn't know that, so, yes, you are right. We don't need more.
2549  Other / Archival / Re: [LIST] Campaign Management Services on: October 24, 2022, 03:43:41 AM

The list is not maintained and hasn't been updated in over two years. Some users on the list don't provide management services anymore and others, like icopress who bumped the topic, aren't in the list at all.

- mprep doesn't provide management services anymore and his thread is locked.
- I am not sure about actmyname, but no new posts have been made in his campaign thread since 2020.

Maybe icopress or someone else can create another similar up-to-date thread if for whatever reason Ratimov is not interested in updating this one.

Another that provides management services is Royse777, who recently bumped his/her thread, although I think it will be a little more difficult for her than for the rest due to her trust page.
2550  Economy / Gambling / Re: Do you visit the casino while travelling? on: October 24, 2022, 03:30:33 AM
When I have traveled I have never been to the casino, but I would not rule it out, for example, if I were to go to Monte Carlo or nearby. The casinos in this case online are part of my routine. They are work for me. And when I go on a trip I am on vacation, so I don't think about work.
2551  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much was your last big win? on: October 24, 2022, 03:20:15 AM
My last big win was a month ago and it's only at the amount of $100+ for just a small bet,

I haven't got any huge win.

not as lucky as you, for the last time I only got 50$, maybe this month is not a good month for me, s

In my case I have not achieved any big win either, but I mainly play HLHE cash poker, and although I have had good sessions and ended the day with 10 stack or more profit, I do not consider those profits as a real profit, because they are due to the variance, in this case positive for me and don't cash them out that they. I keep them in the bankroll. I care more about the expected and real profits at the end of the month and the WR/Hr.
2552  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system on: October 24, 2022, 02:59:07 AM
Bump

After my tag to Royse777 I was expecting that some of those who have me in their trust list would remove me from theirs and maybe some of those who don't have me would switch to distrust me.

I keep an excel with the monthly budget, one column for the planned expenses and another for what I am spending as the month progresses.

I had foreseen that there were going to be changes in the trust list with respect to me in a similar way, as the box of the utilities payment. Something that was going to happen. Although in this case I don't keep an excel with trust issues, but just so you understand the analogy: I did what I thought I should do and assumed that it would have an inevitable cost in terms of trust.

In the end, the only one who has removed me is Naim027, which was about time, and logical after the one-word feedback I left him.

Seeing that there have been no changes from trusted members in this regard I understand that many people who may have more empathy towards Royse777, although perhaps not entirely agree, do not see my tag as a reason to remove me from their trust list/distrust me.
2553  Other / Meta / Re: See this burst poster here. on: October 23, 2022, 06:24:11 AM
I have decided to unlock this thread because I happened to find another burstposter here: Profile.

LOL.  Grin

Yesterday he wrote 22 posts.

Between 08:38:08 AM and 12:16:14 PM he wrote 12 of them, so I guess if he worked for yahoo62278, he would have problems. The rest that are from the thread update "Complete overview of users on DT1 and DT2 and their ratings" I don't take them into account. But he wrote quite a few with a time separation between posts quite similar to mine.

I am commenting this because I was amused when I realized it. It is not my intention to enter into any angry controversy but to discuss what is considered burstposting in a negative sense in the forum. It is clear that each manager is free to set their rules and users to accept them or not.
2554  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Faucet and Bonus Farming on: October 23, 2022, 04:13:22 AM
I have seen more than 2 casinos locking user accounts for this action, and is it really the users fault?

If the users claims tons of faucets or bonus is because the casino engine allows it, and if the casino is losing money with this action they should fix their code to avoid this problem and not steal users money.

The casinos sets the rules of the game, and if a user is smarter enough to find a way to make profit with those rules then they shouldn't block users withdrawals.

So, what do you think about this?

This is the eternal debate. In principle if it is the casino's fault and the user has not broken any rules, it is something that should be fixed without banning him. But there are many other cases where multi-accounting is forbidden, for example, and users keep creating different accounts to abuse. Freebitco.in would be a classic example, which copes well because it is very profitable despite having to do a lot of cleanup.

But I actually wonder how they can find out if someone has multiple accounts and can abuse promos, prizes, and others because of the many members who join them, of course, it won't be easy to find them. But because the casino has the power to conduct investigations on its website by opening a database of member lists and reviewing their activities. It wouldn't be fair if someone could cheat while someone else gambled just for fun and to test their luck.

In some cases it is impossible, but in many others they are so dumb that they leave clues.
2555  Economy / Economics / Re: College Enrollment Declines for the Third Straight Year Since Pandemic in the US on: October 23, 2022, 04:02:21 AM
There is another thing that may influence a little bit that you haven't mentioned, and it is becoming less and less important that you have a degree and more and more important that you know how to do a certain job. With the online tools that there are for self-learning, if you do a higher training module in computer science and continue training yourself, you can get a job without going to university because in that sector there is a high demand, and what matters to them is that you know how to perform the required tasks.

Not all sectors are the same and having a degree is still important, but much less important than 100 years ago when the only way to learn was to physically go to university.

But, well, that the university is expensive and that there is a lot of employment, I understand that these are the main factors. If I'm going to have to go into debt almost for life to study a 4 year degree that I don't know if I'm going to finish and yet I can start earning good money now, the equation is clear.
2556  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is the best thing to do if this happens on: October 23, 2022, 03:41:09 AM
Assuming you gamble on a mid to high-rated gambling website and you won big but they refuse to pay up, what and what are the legal way to make sure that the platform pays up your money?

Prevention is always better than cure. The best thing to do is to bet on a trusted site, with years of reputation in the forum, and if they hold your funds it will be for some misunderstanding that you will be able to clarify.

If you do not do that and it is a site that you are not sure of the reputation, two things can happen, that it is actually legit and what I have described above happens, or that they are scammers, with which, in the previous comments they have already explained how to proceed but you can forget about your money.
2557  Other / Meta / Re: How to write posts like a degenerate spammer on: October 23, 2022, 03:16:23 AM
You are absolutely correct in all you said in the five points, and such posting style is most common with some of us wearing paid signatures, most especially when the user is already running out of time to complete their daily quota.
Personally, I can not exempt myself or try to claim righteous to such behaviors as mentioned above,

Just when I read the OP I thought about the post style of some people on the gambling section and specifically of some who wear the same signature as you. The other day I was looking at the post history of a colleague of yours and I doubted if he uses some AI to write or something. All posts in the gambling section, all 2 or 3 quite long paragraphs, and all full of the same pseudo quality.

I don't want to make a generalization because I know there are people in your campaign who write pretty decently.
2558  Other / Meta / Re: Thinking of creating a thread to give a small prize in Bitcoin. on: October 22, 2022, 08:38:48 AM

"Games and round" should be suitable for such a thread.

Since you're involving prizes here I also suggest that you create it in Games and Rounds instead of the main gambling board.

My take from theymos' post: asking people for their analysis would be allowed on the Gambling board, as long as there's no prize involved. By adding a Bitcoin prize, it becomes incentivized posting which belongs in Games and Rounds. But Mods or Admins can make an exception, so I'd say ask either Cyrus, hilariousandco, mprep or theymos if you want such an exception.

Actually I don't care if it's in one place or another, because when I give I don't expect anything in return (as it would be in this case that the posts I publish in that thread count for the weekly quota), so, if I do it, which I think will probably be at Christmas, it will be in the Games and Rounds board.

Locking the thread, if anyone feels that he has something very important to add, send me a PM.
2559  Other / Meta / Thinking of creating a thread to give a small prize in Bitcoin. on: October 22, 2022, 07:40:17 AM
As I have said in several threads, I give regularly and, as a result, ideas of how to give are going around in my head.

I am thinking of creating a thread in the gambling section, later, probably at Christmas, which could consist of publishing a hand that I have played, without showing the final result, so that anyone who wants to participate can analyze it. I would give a prize for the best analysis, which could consist of 0.0025 or 0.005 Bitcoin in current purchasing power or whatever it is at the time I publish the thread (between $50 and $100 if you prefer).

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't break any rules with it and that I shouldn't have to ask permission but I'd rather ask with this thread just in case.

2560  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If you win so big on: October 22, 2022, 04:05:35 AM
As a responsible gambler, I know we don't let gambling change our lifestyle. If today is your luckiest day ever in gambling,on your first game you won the sum of $50 000.
First, will you quit the game immediately and withdraw all your funds or will you play for awhile because you are excited.

Second, will you use this money to upgrade your lifestyle i.e living big and showing off, even relocating to a better environment and forget about your old friends in your former neighborhood ? Or will you just remain quiet, happy and living a your normal way of life but investing the money into something profitable without telling anyone ?

Look, very easy. With the money you can basically do three things: the first is to spend it, which is what people think of when they get a prize like this. The second is to save it, where investment would also fall under this concept. And the third is to give it away.

With each income I receive, I divide it between these three concepts, with spending being the largest percentage and saving/investing the second, which I hope to change over time, as my net worth increases to increase the percentage of giving.

So with $50k I would probably allocate $5k to giving, $25k to investing and $20 to spending.
