301  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos team identity on: February 17, 2024, 12:51:37 PM
The identity of a casino's team is something we rarely across in our forum even though we have like hundreds of announcement topics in this section, promoting services, gambling games and tournaments. This act typically come around professionalism and hospitality to provide a special customer service. Showing friendliness.and deep understanding of the games offered. Team members may also be a comfortable addition to players here.

Till this day I didn't see any casino revealing the identity of their team, owners, employers and responsibles of the casino even though players are required to pass a KYC process for their identity, so I'm wondering is you also thinked about this and the reasons why most casinos are not doing this process?

I think this is also for their security.

While I understand that having a designated team members in a certain project (e.g. ANN threads, startup token projects, etc.) are essential in order to confirm the authenticity of their goals and plans, in a gambling casino, it is somehow irrelevant. What separates a genuine casino from a scam one is the former's representation of itself and years of service with continued trust by establishing their reputation.

Lastly I also want to point out that having a team member's profile in an online casino can be quite difficult especially if we are talking about the nature of their project. Naturally, a person may feel devastated if they lost on their games or if they staked hundreds to thousands of $$$ worth of crypto and they may channel such rage and emotion into looking for the identities of the team members.

In conclusion, it may indeed compromise the safety of the team members.
302  Economy / Economics / Re: keep pleasures without incomes aside and Chase after profits on: February 16, 2024, 06:29:06 PM
Sorry to say but this sounds very ridiculous, it clearly shows you are not yet ready to marry. Perhaps this should be a wakeup call for your would-be bride to make better decision  Cheesy
You should already know btc price will start to rise rapidly at some point and should not be enough reason to halt any real life event for.
I hope you can take advantage of the upcoming bull market because some people can get carried away during this period and ended up not doing as they intended.

Hahaha I do agree with what you just mentioned.

It does sound that OP is not financially stable and sound given that there are many decisions in which he is indecisive.

If you plan on marrying and settling OP, then you should be prepared to divide all of your wealth unless you sign a pre-nuptial agreement. If lack any form of stable income, then your marriage has a big chance of failing especially if only your soon-to-be wife provides for the family. If you are living mainly on the hopes of profiting from your investment, then you are clearly not ready for this kind of commitment.

Remember that while marrying may sound relatively easy, the life after marriage is what challenges most people. The expenses, the priorities, and the commitments that you have to sacrifice will definitely show; and currently it shows that you are not ready for that kind of life, OP.
303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: STOP telling people how much Bitcoin you have on: February 16, 2024, 05:53:40 PM
I see so many people that come around here sharing how much bitcoin they own...don't.  Just like any of your finances such as your portfolio or how much your annual salary is..it's no one's business but your own.  Being transparent about these things can be harmful to you in a multitude of ways.

There are actually some benefits if you share your actual experiences in earning BTC. But I do agree with your statement that sharing specifically the amount that you have in BTC can be dangerous for your safety and security. Even if we are somehow anonymous in this forum, there may be ways where people could track your location, thereby compromising your safety in the process.

Quote
As an advisor this is something I tell my clients all the time.  Your financial info is private and should always remain that way.  I hate these new social media trends where people walk up to strangers on the street and ask things like "how much do you pay in rent" or "how much money do you make a year"...ignore them!

I do get it that some people share their earnings as a form of inspiration to others in order to attract more people in investing in cryptocurrencies. But, there are ways to inspire without even compromising your safety in the process. By sharing your earnings, there can also be a misunderstanding that you are bragging instead of inspiring.
304  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Anyone +18 Play Gamble? on: February 16, 2024, 05:24:57 PM
Does gambling needs experience or anyone +18, even the inexperienced one can also play? Though playing gamble has a limited age grade or age bracket and the accepted is from  +18 years and there are some casinos hall at the door post, it is written clearly that it is only people of +18 can play. But what about the inexperienced ones, are they allowed to play gamble as well? Or they are also restricted to have the fun? In my observation, there are two elements to participate in gambling. One, you must above 18 years in my country and secondly you must have an experience to play, so I want to know if inexperienced people can also play gamble.

Yes, even an inexperience person can gamble as long as he reaches the mandatory age limit of 18+ then he may be allowed to play inside a physical casino or participate in online gambling games.

Experience is irrelevant as everyone was once a beginner in gambling. Though that may be the case, it is highly recommended that if a newbie were to enter the gambling world, people should at least accompany him or guide him throughout his journey.

For example, his family member or friends who have experience in gambling should at least accompany him in this venture in order to know what things to avoid. But in reality, experience is the best teacher as he will learn along the way.
305  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Philippines SEC will Ban Binance. Effectivity End of Feb. 2024 on: February 16, 2024, 04:34:15 PM
Actually, medyo mahirap to once the SEC bans Binance dito sa bansa given na majority of the new and old cryptocurrency enthusiasts ay ito ang ginagamit. I guess once they implement this ban, balik na siguro sa coins.ph? I just hope na once they do execute this ban, may mga alternative pa din na magagandang exchanges like what Binance offers.

Actually totoo to. Mataas nga chance na matutuloy to given na wala silang license to do business dito sa Philippines. Once na foreign corporation ka without any license to conduct business dito, mahihirapan sila to conduct business since they can be sued dito pero wala sila standing in court.
306  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Escape Debt with Gambling: A Dangerous Cycle on: February 16, 2024, 03:42:28 PM
One thing people should avoid
- People who tell you how to get rich
- Investment
- Someone tell people about gambling tricke.

I mean, all human have a (GREED) if my self know about trick and other things make me rich. I don't even tell anybody, not only friend but also my family member (I keep it for my self).

I find it funny that there are people who still fall onto these tricks even at this day and age.

I mean, everyone should be aware that if a person randomly messages you telling their "secret sauce" to get rich, that should already spark a red flag for you. Assuming that he DOES have the secret to be rich, then why share it in the first place? I am a firm believer that there is nothing free in this world- everything has a fair equivalent of something.

Again, just to reiterate, there is no such thing as free things. If someone approaches you telling to invest into a certain project with very high yield, then avoid it completely. If someone messages you for an investment, be doubtful and research about it.
307  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What have you learnt from this forum that has actually saved/ you in real life. on: February 16, 2024, 12:37:27 PM
I would not say that this saved my life but it completely changed on how I was my spending habits during college.

Growing up with a family of 7 with a single dad was not easy. It can be a little bit of difficult if you are the eldest and you have 5 siblings who are younger than you. Basically, I am the eldest of the family and I have 6 siblings in which every single of them was going to elementary and high school. As you may imagined, the priority when it comes to spending school materials are with them.

When my friend introduced me this forum, I thought it was a shallow gimmick. I posted on threads and took it for granted that cryptocurrencies can actually benefit you if you know what you are doing. After a few months, I realized that there was an enormous opportunity for me to earn money online (which is very convenient) and I quickly grabbed such opportunity to at least alleviate my current situation at home.

Fast forward, I was able to participate in dozens of signature campaigns which rewarded me some BTCs which I quickly converted to my local currency. I used it mostly for school materials, books, and for my food also.

While I do regret spending my BTCs back in 2017, I am still forever grateful for the opportunity that this forum provided as it helped not only me but indirectly helped my family as well.
308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you seen gambling advertisements on TV? Opinion. on: February 16, 2024, 07:54:27 AM
While watching TV with my kid, I've watched various advertisements of gambling nature (let's say for example, Rummy123, RummyCircle, A23 Rummy, etc.)
These are all specifically Indian ads, but I'm sure you may have seen various gambling advertisements, some banners at boundaries when cricket is ongoing, even in any other sport. How would a kid ignore those things, they might just come and ask you about what is it. Till when can we lie to them? Don't you think that the frequency of such ads must be less in order to let the kids not get trapped into gambling and don't do it at such a small age?

This is interesting. I haven't seen any gambling advertisements being showed in our local television here in the Philippines. I guess that our government strictly mandated that all forms of advertisement with regard to gambling should be only limited to online ads as hosting it on television can greatly influence the young kids potentially exposing them to this risk.

Even with strict parental guidance while watching television with our children, there are some instances where they can become curious on their own and explore this by themselves. So for safety, I guess gambling ads should NOT exist on television.

Everyone know about that, but the reality there are still a lot young people become gambler or end up in other addictions. That's because the parents don't have much time to teach and control their children, most parents choose to work because they think money is the most important, so they leave their children to babysitters.

Babysitters don't care with your children, all they do is fulfill their job desk, that's all. They won't give more effort or special treatment like their' own children.

I agree that it is the obligation of parents to supervise our children for the betterment of their welfare. But you must also keep in mind that there are circumstances that are beyond the control of parents in which it may caught us off guard. This is the reason on why prevention is always better than cure.
309  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The person who can’t control emotions in gambling will never earn money from it on: February 16, 2024, 02:04:38 AM
Again, I think we should have a different perception when we approach gambling as a whole. Sure, there is that opportunity for a person to win money in gambling but the stakes are just too high and the risks are easy to experience.

Gambling should be viewed as a form of entertainment primarily and making profit as secondary. If we approach gambling in this way, this would help balance and control our emotions as our priority is different and we would not feel compelled to make a profit every time we gamble.

Gambling is primarily about luck. So whether you're emotional or not, it doesn't have any bearing as to the random results of the games. If you are emotional, it doesn't necessarily follow that you would be less lucky. In the same manner that if you are in full control of your emotions, it also doesn't automatically follow that you would be lucky.

Emotions would, however, play a big part in financial management. But, again, it is false to claim that "the more you control your emotions will cause you to win more in the gambling site."

I do agree with your statement.

At the end of the day, no matter how we try our best to approach gambling in a strategic manner, it is all about luck. With the presence of house edge, this will also give the house the advantage in the long run. That is why we should approach gambling in a different view rather than as a main source of income.
310  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reminder of possible fake app download on application stores on: February 15, 2024, 05:12:15 PM
Any app can be cloned and fake in order to scam some people. Use the official site to download a software or just make sure the app you are about to download have been downloaded by many people like above 100000 people before you proceed to download it.
Thank you for this information. Downloading information from a legitimate website of the service provider is very important. I know of a friend who lost all his funds because he downloaded a fake wallet. However, I am not too comfortable with the second recommendation that we should ensure that many people have downloaded the software. I am scared that the number of downloads might not be a strong indication of genuineness. Don't you think these figures can be inflated, I might be wrong. However, I have seen people offer services to increase the views or likes of a social media account in a bid to gain a reputation. In this era of artificial intelligence, I think there might be a machine that can manipulate the number of downloads.

This deserves more spotlight as this will prevent any person from downloading fake and scam applications from their respective appstore or playstore.

Unfortunately, the only way for a person to prevent from downloading these scams is to double check the application and make very cautious decisions. They also have to remain vigilant as they should doubt every application until they have confirmed its authenticity by reading every posts/threads about it on this forum. This is the reason on why this forum was created- to inform others about potential scam applications and projects that may prevent a person from losing their funds in the process.

While I do pity your friend since he lost some BTCs, he should have doubled or even tripled check everything before he withdrew his money from a wallet.
311  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction causes loss on: February 15, 2024, 04:03:25 PM
I think it is fairly obvious that if a person succumbs to any kind of addiction, failure and losses would follow due to its nature. Gambling addiction is just one of those types of addiction wherein it can be absolutely destructive given that it involves some monetary aspect as it plays with your emotions as it is a game of chance.

Losses would definitely incur long term due to the presence of house edge. If a player fails to realize this and he continues gambling long-term with profit in mind, statistically speaking, he would incur more losses as he progresses.

where he lost his money. What will be your suggestion for my friend to recover from the gambling addiction.

His addiction is unbearable to see for a friend like you, unfortunately, he will not listen to you, there should be someone that he respects he will listen, preferably his wife or his parents, and the only way to cure him is through rehabilitation, advice will not work anymore, he needs a program laid out by professional to cure the symptoms of addiction, this is the height of addiction, where you are losing a lot but you cannot and will not give up, so an immediate rehabilitation is very important.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to change the perception of a person once they become addicted to something. There has to be some internal factor that will compel them to decide for themselves to quit and make it a commitment to change.

Like what I mentioned, it takes commitment to admit that you are suffering from addiction; and it takes courage to change. Most of the right things are the difficult choices but quitting, no matter how difficult it may be, is the right choice.
312  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Most challenges faced by gamblers on online casino platforms? on: February 15, 2024, 02:45:02 PM
<..snip..>

Let's talk about this and share mutual experiences and how we sorted it out

Like what others have mentioned, the problems you have mentioned are generally the common issues that most gamblers face in an online casino setting. While these problems that you have listed are issued by most people, they are also easily addressed given that most customer representatives in famous online gambling websites are active in pursuing each and every problem.

If I may add, some others think that KYC is a problem. I personally submit that KYC functions well in most online casinos. The only problem lies on which casino will implement it. Naturally, if a not-so-famous online casino implements KYC, that should spark a red flag before you submit any of those documents as it may compromise your safety. But generally, KYC implementation in famous casinos are generally safe.
313  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Difference between afford to lose and can't afford to lose. on: February 15, 2024, 09:14:52 AM
When you are depending on someone for assistance because you want to gamble it means that you are risking what you can not afford to lose. Why because you don't have the money to gamble but someone have to give it to you before you can stake.
But when you have jobs that pays you money so well and you are gambling it means you are risking what you can afford to lose. Why because ones you lose your job will give you another money.

I agree with these statements.

Basically, if you are gambling using the money that you have received from another, then you are almost risking nothing. Technically, it IS your money but it was given to you for free by someone or by your parents which somehow eliminates the need for you to win.

On the other hand, if you bet using the money that you have earned for yourself, then you are risking what you can afford to lose. Your money then it is your problem.

Quote
However, many people would say even if you have jobs but you are staking higher it also means you are gambling with what you can not afford to lose. Moreover it's true and I have to dauth but I have a feeling that ones someone that have a good paying job is staking more than what he can afford to lose, there is no different between addiction there.

I somehow agree with this.

But at the end of the day, the more you risk means the more that you can afford to lose in the first place. Even if you have funds, the fact that you have to risk money means that you are risking the very money that you have earned from your hard work regardless if it is a good paying job or not.

314  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Repeating mistakes on casino games in gambling site on: February 15, 2024, 06:21:23 AM
I don`t know what made you think that taking a break from gambling would lead to you making errors that you did in the past but I`m here to tell you that it`s not true - you don`t have to gamble every day or continuously before you`ll be able to avoid some mistakes.

Sometimes you just need to make the mistake once and as soon as you come across a similar thing past instinct will kick in and you should be able to avoid making it twice - not by consistent gambling. Besides, gambling is not a skill you`re trying to learn so why be consistent?

I agree with your statement.

It is not about taking a break, but it is also about the experience that you learn from your gambling activities. If you had loss money before and you are currently in a situation where it may happen again, then always listen to your gut. Remember, it is definitely better to NOT bet at all and your bet should've won THAN betting money by not listening to your gut and lost that money in the process.

Taking breaks is important so players dont keep making the same mistake. We always learn from our mistakes and we should not let it happen again. Don't risk too much money on bets that promise big wins quickly. Better to play it safe and bet responsibly. That way, you can save your money and avoid losing it all.

I also do think that it depends on your viewpoint in gambling. If you truly see this activity as a venture for you to earn extra income, then expect both positive and negative results due to the risks involved. But if you see this as a form of entertainment, then you would most likely bet on small quantities during your games.
315  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why in some religion gambling is forbidden? on: February 14, 2024, 04:27:01 PM
When we talk about religion we cannot dine the forbidden things like alcohol, prostitution and many other things in this topic we will discuss why do gambling is forbidden (Haram, interdit) .
So can you tell me why is it forbidden in your religion?
And for the non religious persons what you think ?

As far as I know, there are certain scriptures that specifically prohibit gambling as it can directly affect your relationship with your family. In addition, there are also some religion that expressly recognizes the destructive effects of gambling which makes the act forbidden.

For example, in Islam, gambling is prohibited because Allah has forbidden it.1

Quote
“O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, al-Ansab [sacrifices for idols, etc.] and al-Azlam [arrows for seeking luck or decision] are an abomination of Shaytan’s handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful. Shaytan wants only to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants (alcoholic drink) and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah and from al-salah (the prayer). So, will you not then abstain?”2

While there may be some religion that is lenient or does not say anything with regard to gambling, it is natural that people who follow their religion will prevent gambling in any way.

316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Relationship Between Cryptocurrency and Traditional Banking on: February 10, 2024, 07:02:52 PM
Hello everyone a very good day you all.

So, let’s talk about this interesting duo: cryptocurrency and traditional banking. Some say traditional banks are threatened by crypto’s rise, while others think they’re starting to see the potential and hopping on the bandwagon. Either way, it’s a fascinating dynamic to watch unfold. What do you think? Are they destined for a happily ever after or is this just a temporary fling?

Let me know your thoughts on this.

Nope- I do not think that cryptocurrencies pose a threat to traditional banking methods and banks in general.

Remember that paper currencies will always prevail due to the regulation and strict implementation of cryptocurrencies across all countries. If you can also see, paper money is the main method of currency that is being used as the medium for each country. Not to mention, there are several countries that prohibit the utilization and usage of BTC on their country which poses another problem for the latter.

The only time that cryptocurrencies will pose as a threat to traditional banks is when there is a massive shift in a form of currency, which I do not think that will happen anytime soon even in the near/distant future.
317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling mistake repeated by the gamblers on: February 10, 2024, 06:23:09 PM
Overconfidence and greed are interconnected because someone who becomes overconfident will mostly become greedy because of it. When you are winning constantly, you become overconfident and that also makes you greedy because you start thinking that if you are winning, why not increase the stake so that you can win higher amounts? And when you do that, you lose everything you've managed to win in no time and then you start regretting your decisions.

You are right that most gamblers repeat these mistakes because even if they lose everything multiple times because of getting overconfident and greedy, they would barely learn anything from their mistakes, and they start repeating the same thing after a few days. Gamblers tend to ignore things like these very easily.

Agreeable because the overconfidence actually comes from when you start thinking you’ve got this and you’re in control whereas it’s just been luck, even if you applied some statistical analysis. Then you think you are in control so you double your stake (greed), and that’s when you go back to zero. Very true.
Well, I think things like this are often forgotten by gamblers. They become confident when they win and they forget it was just luck. They can get lucky but it's definitely not every day and there are times when they can get it. I think gamblers are too ambitious when chasing wins and they forget that the results they get are more than enough to bet again.

This is what I call the "gambler's cycle" wherein a gambler would definitely stick to gambling regardless of the result of their game.

In this cycle, a gambler's initial reaction whenever he losses is to bet again in order to recover the money he just lost.
Unfortunately, if this loss incurs, this will create a never-ending streak for the gambler to chase away his losses by betting again. Additionally, a gambler would most likely gamble again if they won in order to test again their luck and to see if they can win for the second time. Guess what happens if after they won, they bet and they lost? Yup- they will definitely bet again and the cycle continues.

In order to break this cycle, a gambler must know the amount of money that he must allocate and the threshold of his winnings/losses. In this way, this can somehow compel him to stop and to realize the fruits of his winnings; or to lessen further his losses in the process.
318  Economy / Economics / Re: Why we should prioritize investment over saving on: February 10, 2024, 05:53:59 PM
Saving our hard earned money have never been a bad idea, but their are certain things we need to consider before thinking of saving, such as inflation.

Saving keeps your money from moving to generate profits and conversely the value of the money we save continues to lose value.
Investment has two potentials, generating profits if executed correctly by choosing one of the best investments ever, losses if the investment is carried out not based on correct knowledge because along the way we choose several things that make the investment a loss.
However, both must be implemented because in my opinion savings are also needed to meet certain needs and investment is a way of preparing for a better financial stage in the future.

When you save, your money does not move. You are missing the opportunity of maximizing the time as your instrument in order to increase your cash overtime. This is the reason on why there are investments in which banks would often borrow your money in furtherance of their other projects and you will receive a corresponding interest rate depending on the amount that you invested.

This principle can also be applicable in cryptocurrencies given their large store of value. If you purchase let's say 1 BTC and HODL it, you are not only saving (due to its store of value) but you are also maximizing the opportunity of earning more in the process due to BTC's high volatility.

In conclusion, people should definitely invest money. But again, investing is not as easy as it sounds since you must also take responsibility of your investments in order for them not to lose value during a critical time.
319  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: February 10, 2024, 05:08:41 PM
Have you guys been watching the Freestyle Chess GOAT Challenge 2024? What are your thoughts on this kind of game format?

Personally, I feel like watching this format brings new excitement to chess given that it jumbles the position of the pieces. For example, the queen is placed on a different spot rather than on its original position for a new and exciting gameplay. This eliminates theory lines and preparation as the players will have no clue on the position of the pieces until they see it on the first time during their game.

Been checking the livestreams and I am quite sad for what has happened to Ding Liren.  Currently, Ding is struggling with this kind of setup and format as he is on a five (5) losing streak. Lots of people are sharing their opinions that the next WCC may have a new world champion.

320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the benefits of cryptocurrency to the illiterate people on: February 10, 2024, 04:37:13 PM
What are the benefits of cryptocurrency to the illiterate people?

Even if there are illiterate people, you can explain BTC to them as in the concept of cash or barter. Meaning, BTCs can be exchanged for something like goods, services, etc. due to its significant value on the market. Additionally, you can also explain it to them that BTC works something as an investment- meaning you can store it for a relatively long time and it will incur value at the end (e.g. likening it to precious metals such as gold, etc.).

Even if there are illiterate people, this does not hinder them from learning about BTCs. More importantly, if they have the capacity to understand a complex currency such as BTC, then this can be their first step of learning how to read and write- thereby making them literate in the process.

In conclusion, teaching them about BTC can kill two birds in one stone- they learned about BTC; and they also have the opportunity to be literate at the same time.
