1281  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What Are Some Of The Most Efficient Ways To Invest My Bitcoin Earnings? on: January 10, 2023, 11:35:28 PM
What are some of the most efficient ways to invest my bitcoin earnings to yield profit and is the strategy of investing due for long term or short term period?

What steps do I need to take to ensure this works?

Is it a waste of time to try to invest my earnings no matter how small into bitcoin at this stage or is it something that only pays off after a one time big cash investment?

Personally, one of the most efficient ways to invest your BTC is to HODL them for short/long-term depending on the price. As a rule of thumb, you may withdraw your earnings as soon as you accumulate a profit on your end. Regardless of the margin, the important thing to note is the profit that you would receive.

As someone who has never purchased BTC, I earned primarily through participating in campaign signatures. In that way, majority of the BTCs that I receive is what I HODL for long-term since I never purchased it.
1282  Economy / Speculation / Re: what If Bitcoin Price never comes up on: January 10, 2023, 10:44:46 PM
I am just feeling bitcoin will never come to 50k at max

Or better yet, maybe tell us why you're actually "feeling" that bitcoin wouldn't go above 50k again? So we can actually start the discussion somewhere. Because if you don't have a half-decent reason, then this is pretty much just the typical novice mindset.

Most likely, OP based this ultimately on his feelings without any factual basis to substantiate this claim.

The reason on why most invest in BTC is due to its high volatility. Investing either for short/long-term has been proven to at least be profitable depending if you were able to convert your BTCs into cash in time. By basing it also purely on its price history index, you would see that the price of BTC had increased tenfold. Along with the 2024 halving coming, it is best to invest at this time to maximize all of your profits.

OP remember that the sky is the limit once you invest in BTC. You may feel that it will never come to 50k max and that was also the mindset of some people when they claimed that BTC will not reach $1,000; $2,000; or even $5,000 6-10 years ago.
1283  Economy / Economics / Re: My investments ahead of the 2024 halving 100% Bitcoin on: January 10, 2023, 10:27:23 PM
You yre a true Bitcoin believer! Some might say that you are "all in" on the digital gold.  Wink Your friends may see potential in other altcoins, but ultimately the decision to diversify your portfolio is yours. By holding the remaining 10% as savings, you are potentially leaving room for future opportunities. It is always good to have some flexibility in your investment strategy.

I mean, if you really based this data on previous BTC halvings, at least all occurrences increased the price of BTC in the market. That is why, investing and purchasing BTC while the price is relatively low on the market is a good strategy for the coming 2024 BTC halving.

Of course, like OP mentioned, no one can accurately predict when the next ATH would come. But being prepared for such opportunity is a key in order to maximize your profits. We create our own luck and this happens when preparation meets opportunity.
1284  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: January 10, 2023, 10:08:05 PM
ChatGPT is all the rage at the moment. I’ve seen that people are asking it to predict sporting events. Would you leave gambling decisions up to artificial intelligence? Do you see any potential drawbacks for outsourcing your bets to a software program? Has anyone here tried this yet? Do we need someone to put together a thread of ChatGPT predictions to see how accurate they are?  Any other thoughts?

I would most definitely try it but I will not base my decision completely on the AIs decision.

The beauty behind AI making the decision for you is that they can do all the scanning of data and comparison of information on a certain team. While it may provide a quantifiable data where you would be able to see the stats, a person must always do his personal research also. In effect, the data of the AI must apply suppletory with my data for more accurate results.

I guess if I had no time to do my own research, I would let the AI decide on which team has the better stats but I will not completely rely on it.
1285  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Woman won $43million but was offered a steak dinner instead of her winnings on: January 10, 2023, 06:43:24 PM
Now this is just a fraudulent scheme devised by the gambling company in order to evade liability of paying her. Good thing the woman has a photo of her winning the slot machine as a solid proof for her efforts in winning. I do think that it must be illegal for the gambling company to claim that a slot machine malfunctioned that caused someone to win on it. Regardless, she still won and she must be entitled to the prize.

Personally, I very much feel outraged by this news. I do hope the woman sues the hell out of this gambling company. Not only is she entitled to her prize but also for damages for this scheme made by the gambling company.

Quote
The machine had a disclaimer stating 'malfunctions void all pays and plays', and as a result the commission said that they were required by law to give Bookman only what she'd actually won.

This is pure BS. How can a person prove that a machine malfunctioned? Isn't that the responsibility of the gambling company to maintain these machines regularly? They should be estopped on claiming that it malfunctioned AFTER someone won the jackpot prize.
1286  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the motives that drive you to gamble? on: January 10, 2023, 06:26:03 PM
I do not know about you guys, but I gamble because I like it and because it is a hobby as well as an addiction. I'm good with myself, as I already admitted to having an addiction but tried to find and apply techniques to avoid getting off track and spending all of my money on gambling. It's quite easy for me to control my gambling anxiety as I already follow strict rules that help me stay on the line.

What about you guys? Do you have any addiction to gambling? What drives you to gamble? Is it the long shot of having a big profit coming in or is gambling simply a way of spending time for you?

I guess the primary motivator that drives me to gamble is the hope of winning the prize money at the end. In addition to this, the adrenaline and fear that I might win/lose my money at the end is also one of those feelings that I want to feel.

You could say, at least, that I am somehow addicted to this feeling but without the prize money at the end, I doubt that I would long for this feeling. Gambling has always been part of my hobby due to its simplicity, convenience, and accessibility as a whole. Though I do think that a factor on why I gamble frequently is due to my father as he would always invite me to watch him gamble.
1287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can be banned or stopped by governments on: January 10, 2023, 02:45:07 PM
Indian government (maybe other also)  say that " to ban cryptocurrency we need global help" my question is : can bitcoin be banned if all government will agree to ban bitcoin

i am something less experience and has bad english so ignore

If all countries were to ban BTC and its usage, then it will slowly become obsolete and no one would actually use it. There would be no trading aspect as persons would be liable if they transact using BTC. In addition, they would also be penalized by their respective government given that exchanges require KYC in order to transact using it. This will now definitely ruin the chances of BTC being globally accepted and used as a form of alternative currency without the need of any third-party consensus.

While that may be the case, I really doubt that it will happen. There are various countries who see the potential of its usage and its impact on the economy (e.g. Japan, etc.). While there may be countries who prohibit the use of such, there are still countries who continue to develop and adapt BTC to its economy and finances.
1288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How profitable it is possible to invest in bitcoins in the new year 2023. on: January 10, 2023, 02:22:02 PM
Can't get much idea about the market. How should I start investing right now, should I start with a small amount of money or should I start with a lot of money? Those who have good knowledge about investment will definitely help me in this regard.

To be honest, the cryptocurrency world is rather difficult in "accurately" predicting the trend of its prices. With its high volatility, the price may either increase/decrease without given notice. In addition to it, unlike in stocks, the trading aspect happens every minute as compared to stocks where the trading happens on a certain time.

If you want to start investing in cryptocurrency, then treat it as a normal investment. But you have to regularly check its price on the market. I know lots of people who accumulated profit even in short-term investment due to sudden spikes in its price.

As a general rule also, only invest what you can afford and lose at the same time. Be wary of current events since majority of the news affect the price of BTC in the market. Good luck on your investment, OP!
1289  Economy / Economics / Re: MONEY IS THE MOTIVATING FACTOR, what do you think? on: January 10, 2023, 02:04:22 PM
Any man that seeks to follow money becomes misled.
Money is meant to follow you, while you are meant to follow value.  Create value, solve problems, and do it well, you'll attract people to follow you; remember, money follows people with value.

What's your take on this?

Money is definitely a motivator if you want to live comfortably. As our world depends totally on money for achieving a comfortable life or at least meeting your obligations, earning should be one of your main goals if you truly want to experience a hassle-free life. But there lies a difference between rich and being satisfied. A person may be rich but he may feel empty on the inside especially if they have no friends, etc.

The way to deal with this is to balance a healthy lifestyle with your peers and earning money. While the latter should be one of your main focuses, you should not totally discredit other means as this will keep you active in other aspects of your life.

1290  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can we really make a living in sports betting? on: January 10, 2023, 01:47:34 PM
I heard lots of stories online that there are people who are making a living in sports betting, and honestly it really inspires me that's why I'm still gambling now. So I'm just curious, do we have members of the forum here that are making a living in sports betting? Can they share some inputs on how to be successful like them?

I hope they will share so we will know if it's really possible. I mean, as the saying goes, casinos always win because they have the advantage, so how come people are making a living in sports betting?

Like what most have mentioned, it can be really difficult making gambling as your main source of income due to its nature being unpredictable and unstable. Unlike getting a job where it pays you monthly, gambling totally relies on your partial skill + luck for you to profit. You may earn huge amounts of winnings in a day but you may also lose large amounts if your luck is not on your side.

If you plan on making sports betting as a source of income, make sure that you have a contingency plan in the event that it fails. Rather than depending on gambling as your main source of income, you may also want to venture into business, etc.
1291  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you experienced this kind of gambling on: January 10, 2023, 07:28:18 AM
So far, I have never tried this kind of gambling but it seems kind of fun. The only problem with it falls on the probability of winning due to it being random. Well, you could argue that it does follow the spirit of gambling, I would rather bet on the sports itself than the jersey numbers.

Personally, I would maybe attempt to try this kind of gambling but I would not make it as my regular game. Maybe others have experienced this type of gambling in some other games and application but I would not dare to make this as my regular game.
1292  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: As a newbie it is better you take custody of your coins on: January 09, 2023, 10:26:34 PM
It's a great idea to take custody of your funds from the start (especially if you've only got a small investment) because you're going to be risking less when you really do need your funds in your own wallet (there was some warning FTX was going to collapse before it did, if you know how the network works, you'll be better at taking your funds out as early as possible).

You're also missing the point of crypto if you're keeping funds on an exchange as you're not really investing in it (you're just investing in an exchange as they'll leverage your assets).

This is very interesting to point that exchanges are jut leveraging your assets given that most of them have conversion rates that are abysmal.

I am actually guilty of this- I keep most of my BTCs inside our local exchange (coins.ph) due to the convenience that it provides. The downside is, whenever I convert my BTCs to our desired local currency, the conversion rates are relatively high to the point that it eliminates the point of investing it. In addition, this also puts me at the risk of the exchange losing my BTCs in the event that they are scammed, which I am hopefully not wishing it to happen.
1293  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: age 47 is it too late or not to invest in bitcoin.? on: January 09, 2023, 09:50:34 PM
but I personally will still invest in bitcoin because in my opinion there will be no loss in investing in bitcoin even in the long term, that is because I have children, even if I may have died I think there will be no loss, because I will tell my children when I invest in bitcoin .

and I will inherit bitcoin to my kid if I die first.

I want to ask what do all my friends think about this problem?

It is definitely worth it to invest in BTC no matter how young/old you are. 47 years old is relatively young given the average age group in this forum.

The beauty behind investing into BTC is that its price may skyrocket anytime. Its high volatility makes it a perfect investment either for short/long-term depending on its price on the market. As someone who has been active in this forum for five (5) years already, I have witnessed its price increasing/decreasing overtime. You can definitely earn big and take advantage of such opportunity if you are at least active enough in knowing its price.

As for inheritance, you can keep your private key stored in a hardware wallet for your kids to know when they reach a certain age. This protects your investment in becoming "lost" especially if you unexpectedly meet your demise.
1294  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some Gambling Slang and Terms that Beginners Should be Aware of on: January 09, 2023, 09:35:30 PM
although I know a little bit about some of the ones listed in this thread, I think it's necessary for beginners to know more slang and terms in gambling, I think you need to update and add more information in this thread so that it can be understood by the readers. another beginner  Wink

Oh it is definitely necessary to know these terminologies! Not only that these terms are used frequently, but also almost every gambling site contains at least 1 more or of those terms mentioned on their website. This saves time for a person to search on Google behind the meaning of such term. That is why, people should bookmark this thread and we also have to keep this thread updated for more terminologies to come.

As someone who has been gambling over the years, there are also some terminologies that I did not know until I checked this page. Thank you very much OP for creating this thread as this is definitely informative.
1295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mark Cuban wants to buy more Bitcoins on: January 09, 2023, 03:18:15 PM
Link to news
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/12/28/mark-cuban-wants-to-buy-more-bitcoin-says-gold-investors-are-dumb.html

So another celeb is showing trust and faith in bitcoin. Mark Cuban considers more strength in bitcoin in comparison to Gold. Do you agree with him ?

Interesting that Mark Cuban has taken a liking in investing into cryptocurrencies. I remembered he starred in a YouTube video where he explained his skepticism in purchasing BTC in his portfolio. But along with that statement, he also did mention that cryptocurrencies would evolve into a bigger picture where the world will start to adapt and adopt its use.

Maybe this coming 2024 where another fork will happen, he might take advantage of such situation and sell his BTCs once its price increases.
1296  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will Cassino Continue With Wagering Requirements, If Abuse is Eliminated? on: January 08, 2023, 11:58:34 PM
the reality is, there will always be abusers. i don't think it can be eliminated especially if the casino is not requiring kyc to its customers. even some licensed casinos are still not requiring kyc for their small time bettors. so it is far from happening that abuse will be eliminated in my opinion.
the possibility is - they may lower their wagering requirements but they will keep certain conditions to avoid rampant abuse of their bonuses or rewards.

I agree with your statement. People will always try to abuse a free system wherein they would create multiple accounts to take advantage of all the free bonuses provided by the gambling website. That is the reason on why gambling websites have created "wagering requirements" in order to combat abuse. Even if a person creates multiple accounts to gamble and get the bonus, he/she has to satisfy the wagered amount required, which is set by the gambling website in order to give them the security.

These kinds of things happen even in real life. Once an opportunity comes, people would take advantage and exercise all the means to abuse it.
1297  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't feel comfortable with crypto exchange on: January 08, 2023, 11:47:32 PM
Everybody needs to fear crypto exchange without waiting for people to preach exchange is not good for storing bitcoin.   Remitano exchange is where I do buy bitcoin and sell bitcoin.  Sometimes it is very difficult to have access with this wallet to sell or buy bitcoin,  at times it takes 24hrs before one can logging this exchange. Just imagine exchange like this have some network issues like this and never gets back to normal again. This should be enough reason why people shouldn't store  bitcoin on exchange wallet.

It seems like there are numerous posts about exchanges nowadays convincing people not to store BTCs inside them. While this is indeed the best way in order to secure your cryptocurrencies, you can still use an exchange if you want to conveniently transfer from one wallet to another.

Like what I also mentioned in similar posts like these, I am guilty of the fact that majority of my BTCs are inside an exchange. It is like there is a hanging sword of Damocles above my head with this kind of strategy and I just hope that our local exchange (coins.ph) is not going to be hacked anytime soon.

Again, if you temporarily do not have a hardware wallet, transfer your cryptocurrencies to a trusted exchange for the meantime.
1298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Failure of Exchnages can never be that of Bitcoin. on: January 08, 2023, 11:36:05 PM
I don't know where you read that news, but I've never heard of it, bitcoin and exchanges like currencies and banks. A failed bank doesn't mean the currency collapses and neither does bitcoin. I remember we also had a topic about the correlation between bitcoin and exchanges and honestly, bitcoin can work fine even without an exchange, so saying that the collapse of exchanges will drag bitcoin to collapse is the dumbest statement I've ever heard.

I agree with the metaphor- exchanges were created in order to have some sort of convenience to the usage for the general public. To be honest, without these exchanges, the barrier of entry for a person to earn cryptocurrency can be difficult. That is why we can say that exchanges enable the public to at least earn BTC for the various wallets they offer.

Unfortunately, with convenience comes running the risk of getting scammed. Along with this, lots of exchanges have been numerously hacked and hundreds to thousands of BTCs were stolen in the process.
1299  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A superstitious strategy? on: January 08, 2023, 11:23:21 PM
Most gamblers must have went through this, sometimes luck appears to be your side specially in games like casino war or dice.

Today, morning I was playing casino war, I just use martingale - I know it's lame strategy. But I won most of time.

Then later at noon, luck just didn't appear to be on my side. A constant losses with win every once in a while to recoup the losses and then losing streak, all funds gone.

Now, let's be some superstitious and say, if you play only when luck appears to be on your side, would you call that a good strategy?

It is not a strategy perse but it is more of a convincing method for me to gamble again. That is the problem of gambling- whenever you experience a winning/losing streak, the natural tendency of a person is to try and gamble again. Unfortunately, in your case, you tried to check if you still had that luck on your side but only to experience a losing streak at the end of the day.

I hope this becomes a lesson to all to discipline yourself in gambling. Always know when to stop and when to cash out to prevent greed from taking over your winnings, thereby causing ultimate loss on your part.
1300  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Are Players Going To Trust Casinos If They Don't Show Solid Evidence on: January 08, 2023, 02:11:15 PM
There are accusations that have or cannot be resolved because they always ended up with your words against their words, players show screenshots of your proofs and even take up or accept KYC but in casinos cases, they just hold on to their words that the player has cheated, manipulated or exploited a bug without showing strong evidence like screenshots of the log they just hiding in their defense that they cannot show proofs and add further to protect the integrity of their platform, so the accusations remain open.
Many casino's defenses are like that.

If that were the case, then this is the fault of the online casino website. If they fail to show cause on why a person has been prohibited from their website, then this will definitely toll on the reputation of that website. If that were to happen, their reputation will be destroyed, thereby decreasing the trust and its player base. That is why, it takes years to gain the trust of an audience and one simple mistake to ruin everything.

That is why, if you have a problem regarding a certain casino and you have proof to the contrary of their claim, then post it here for everyone to see. This will alert the community in order to avoid that website which in overall help in preventing similar situations from happening.
