1221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do casino and sports betting platform owners gamble as much as other people? on: February 10, 2023, 11:44:36 PM
Farmers who have chickens for eggs especially on a large scale, easily get tired of eating the eggs from their chickens or even eggs in general. Caterers get tired of eating their own pastries, just as people who are exposed to certain produce get tired of them due to over exposure. Do you think this experience is the same for casino owners and owners of sports betting platforms?

Do you think that the owners of casinos and sports betting platform, gamble as much as other people do? If they gamble, do you think they gamble on their platform?

I think some gambling owners gamble but only to a certain extent. Remember that these people are business-minded and they are driven primarily for profit. If they try or at least attempt to gamble, they would put themselves at the situation of risking their profits given the nature of business they run in the process.

Though this may be the case, there are actually some gambling owners who gamble on their platform to check on how their website operates. I also know a few owners who gamble on different websites purely for comparison and to see on how they can improve their current platform.
1222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoiners are not friendly physical? on: February 10, 2023, 11:14:08 PM
I was very happy  to joined bitcointalk. org November 7 2020, but I came to discovered one thing in the community that is making me wondering, if bitcoiners don't trust themselves by seeing themselves face to face like the way church members or Muslim members love themselves by seeing themselves face to face after the service. Going to three years now, am trying to see some of the bitcoiners in my area to discuss with them how to join hands together to promote Bitcoin in the society but they said they prefer discussing it online than see each other physical.
Are they ashame to be a bitcoiners? or they are among the people that think Bitcoin is a scam?
Why Bitcoin users are afraid of see each other physical?

I think it is not about being afraid on seeing each other physically, but it is mostly on the part of privacy. Remember that some members here in this forum have tons of BTC at their disposal to the point that it might actually threatened their own personal safety. In a way, they are concerning and focusing on their self-preservation which is why some prefer to discuss matters online.

Though this may be the case, I do think that majority of the members also are willing to discuss and meet people physically. But you have to choose the right crowd and look for these people in the process.
1223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Signs of compulsive gambling on: February 09, 2023, 10:12:53 PM
This is the worst of gambling. To come out of compulsive gambling is really hard thing, because through addiction free centres support or through someone's advice it can't be stopped. Only if the person himself decides and take required measures to keep himself focused on other activities he can come out of compulsive gambling. Most of the gamblers used to be compulsive gamblers at some point. Further the experience gives them best learning and understand the limits of gambling.

If you suffer from compulsive gambling, the first step is always to acknowledge that you indeed suffer from it. Without any acceptance and realization, you will always live in denial and rationalize your actions stating that what you are doing is indeed right.

Compulsive gambling is not only the worst type but it is also the most destructive in the long-run. You start disregarding your obligations and you center your whole life in gambling, which is already risky in nature. Even if there may be days that you win, there will be more days that losses will be experienced more in the process.
1224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What most gamblers do. on: February 09, 2023, 09:49:56 PM
I want to ask a question. And I need serious answer from this forum, and my question is WHY DOES A GAMBLER DON'T HAVE A SAVINGS.
In my country (Nigeria) there are many gamblers who don't have savings and it isn't help matters at all. Most of these gamblers can't afford for there families but they can afford money they will use to gamble. So why are they not having savings that they can use to help there families in time of lack. Like they said, we save money so money can save us tomorrow. But these gamblers doesn't know that.

The simplest and shortest answer is due to their addiction. Instead of feeding and meeting their obligations, they would rather choose the selfish route of personally satisfying their greed for their addiction in gambling. This definitely also affects ultimately their savings and emergency money, which is also the reason on why majority of gamblers are high on debt.

If you know someone who is a gambler, then now is the time to at least educate and support them in solving their addiction in this dangerous habit. Not only are they slowly destroying their lives, but they are also affecting the people around them.
1225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 09, 2023, 09:26:24 PM
Wow, some pretty big trades going down these past few days, especially seeing Kevin Durant being dealt to the Phoenix Suns last night.  That team is going to be pretty damn good with him being their feature player now.  I saw the Lakers made some decent moves too.  I think that was pretty much a given that they were going to do something there.

Still waiting to see if the Chicago Bulls make any moves. At this point, they clearly don't have a chance at winning anything significant, so might as well start moving some pieces...as much as that sucks as a Bulls fan.

I wonder what Nets fans are feeling right now given that they lost two (2) of their superstar players on the team, both Kyrie and Durant. But I guess this is the inevitable given that their combination did not yield them any playoff run nor championship at the end. I guess the normal thing for them to do is to get traded and build their roster from scratch especially that they have first picks this 2028.

The Phoenix Suns are actually looking pretty legit given that they have now Booker, Paul, and Durant on their team. I hope that their chemistry works out- though I predict that we will see Dallas vs Suns on the playoffs this season.
1226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am stopping for legal reasons. Is it really worth the trouble? on: February 08, 2023, 11:40:29 PM
Basically what the government is trying to say is that they do not recognize BTC as a currency and neither should it also be used for transaction/investment purposes.

Are there some laws that absolutely prohibit the use of BTC as a form of alternative payment? From the wording of what you sent, the government is just expressing its views on the topic about BTC but it no where did it state that there will be penal sanctions if you transact using them. But I do understand where you are coming from as a businessman as you want to avoid any possible and potential legal affairs from affecting your livelihood.

I guess the best advice that I could give to you is to further research on the topic and know if your country absolutely prohibits the use of such. If there are no laws on its prohibition, I guess you are somehow relatively safe from using and accepting BTC as an alternative payment.
1227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: February 08, 2023, 11:15:34 PM
If you want to make money betting on chess, I would definitely go for the draw option. Many games end in a draw. You have to see who is playing then. If Magnus Carlsen is behind the chessboard then I would watch out because he goes for the win every game. There are a number of players who often draw draws, for example you used to have Giri who drew extremely often. And in the last rounds of a tournament you often have the chance of a quick draw so that players can pack their bags and rest. But I wouldn't bet on speed chess games. There are far fewer draws.

I somehow disagree with your statement as it depends on several factors.

First, you have to consider the time/game format of the tournament. If it involves a classical match between the players, then expect draws to happen given the nature of it- more players have time to calculate and the pressure is relatively low. But, if the game is either rapid or bullet, then drawing the game is most likely off the table as there will be a player that will most likely blunder at the end.

Second, you must also consider the players that will participate. Like you mentioned, Giri has that reputation of drawing such games but if you watched closely, he actually won the recent 2023 Tata Steel Championship. So I guess, him drawing the games are not possible anymore.

Lastly, you must also consider the overall tournament that will happen. If it is a big tournament where top GMs will participate, then expect outrage and chaos on the board.
1228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how many times have you intended to stop gambling on: February 08, 2023, 10:37:42 PM
Gambling has become an everyday thing for some people and this act has lead to serious addiction which is not good. When gambling we should understand that we are just playing for fun. Most people i know around always take gambling as a very serious issue and i have this particular friend that always complains to me how he has stopped gambling but from no where you still see him gambling again. Me myself am a sesonal gambler and i only gamble on the sport i know which is soccer, i think exploration of new gambling games you are familiar with also causes this repeated feeling of always quitting gambling. I just want to know if this phrase is common among everyone or its just he catch phrase whenever you experiences a big loss.

Personally, my addiction is not on the point that I should intentionally "stop it" since I can practice its discipline and self-control from the very start.

People who struggle in eliminating and stopping gambling are the ones who are addicted to it to the point that it is destructive to their livelihood. Though that may be the case, they are at least on the first step towards curing their addiction- which is acknowledging that they are indeed addicted to it.

In order to fully eliminate such addiction, sacrifices must be made and sheer amount of patience must be exercised by the person. Not to mention, an active participation of their peers and friends may significantly help and speeding up the process of curing it.

1232  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Bitcoin will lead the world's current market on: January 27, 2023, 11:57:35 PM
We know the US dollar is the world-accepted banknote and can be used as a medium of trade.  In the crypto world, Bitcoin is the most popular and the highest-received currency with incredible value. Different nations have authorized bitcoin for transactions and multiple of them are sentiments. Its approval is slowly expanding day by day. Do you think bitcoin will be the commander of the world’s currency market like the US dollar in destiny?

I doubt that BTC would lead the world's current market given its overall influence and impact in the world.

Sure, there has been an increase of people investing in BTC over the years and its market liquidity is significantly large. But I doubt that it will dominate to the point that it will takeover the dollar and other currencies. Remember that BTC has been banned and prohibited in some countries. That fact alone makes it impossible for it to lead the world market.

Also you have to consider that once BTC dominates, expect tighter and stricter regulation on its end. Countries would try to implement it but there will be some sort of control by the government which could be a double-edged sword in the long-run for us investors.
1233  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin Island Retreat - Sasama ba kayo? on: January 27, 2023, 11:50:40 PM

This actually seems a great idea to increase awareness sa cryptocurrency dito sa bansa! Hopefully, magkaroon ng parang open forum at discussion where outsiders are also open for free given na madami rin talagang curious dito sa cryptocurrency sa bansa.

This is a good start to increase its overall awareness and hopefully magkaroon pa ng mga katulad na events na ganito in the future.
1234  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: we always regret once the price go up on: January 27, 2023, 11:43:46 PM
I think it all depends on your goal as an investor. Of course, everyone wants to profit in the end but you must set some limitations/boundaries on how much profit/loss you want to experience. For example, if you initially invested BTC, you must set some parameters on how much profit/loss you want to cash out. This depends if you are aiming either for long or short-term investment.

Personally, investing into BTC is an absolute risk due to its high volatility in the market. While there may be stories of people profiting thousands, there are also some stories where some lost millions.
1235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Approximately 384 Days until the next Bitcoin halving on: January 27, 2023, 02:50:15 PM
I don't want to watch the countdown because I get pressured to accumulate more because I know, halving is a big event for Bitcoin which only happens every fours years if I'm not mistaken. Better to focus now on accumulating, because we are about to rise again and this is not just a hype but its a fact and its the cycle of Bitcoin. You can do DCA, and buy little by little, what's important here is that you have Bitcoin holdings and you can make profit out of it.

Do not worry- what you are feeling is the good kind of pressure.

Given the current trend of halvings and its past effects, expect the price of BTC to skyrocket in the market. While there is indeed that pressure of accumulating, it is the good kind of pressure where the end result WOULD most likely result in a profit. If you feel like you have to purchase and HODL, then do it for as long as you are using your spare funds for this.

Before, I used to ignore every halvings and I took it for granted. Now, I will definitely purchase and HODL my coins to take advantage of its price increase on the market.
1236  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This Smells Like Hypocrisy on: January 27, 2023, 02:33:46 PM
Aren't those sports and games that you mentioned served a huge part in Japan's culture? Maybe that's the reason why. While it may seem like it's hypocrisy, these events and sports that you mentioned doesn't also seem to push lots of gamblers to the edge and into addiction hence why they allow them under the direct supervision of the government. Dice, slots, cards, roulettes, most of these casino games finish fast, and people lose money fast with these games too, and they are more prone into addiction and getting into debt compared to those games/sports you just mentioned.

I agree on your statement.

I guess the gambling that Japan is referring to are the ones that are outside the scope of their tradition. If I remember correctly, there was a video created where a $200 billion dollar gambling game called "pachinko" is a common game in Japan.1 Technically, gambling is indeed illegal in Japan but there seems to be a circumvention in this game. Though there is no direct exchange of the balls in the pachinko to the arcade, you actually exchange it via cash to black market or backdoor dealers outside.

If you are curious about this game, I highly recommend watching videos on YouTube about it or watch the link that I will be posting below.

Siguro he is referring to alternate coins where may gumagawa ng isang project, tapos magkakaroon ng isang rug and pull after makakuha na ng malaking capital.

This is borderline crazy given that he is a senator- a person sitting in a very highly prestigious and important position since sila gumagawa ng batas. This speaks of his character where nag sasabi siya agad ng isang statement pero hindi niya agad iniintindi muna. If these are the ones creating are laws, then ano na mangyayare sa bansa naten?

1238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reason why I will never help anyone to invest in crypto on: January 26, 2023, 11:41:58 PM
....
If you are in same position like me, no matter how much you like someone or want the best for them do not help them to invest in crypto, they are lazy asses who can't get anything done on their own, and this type of game I don't play it because, in the end, you will become their enemy.  It's already happening and I just ignored them. Is anyone seeing the same thing in their city or country?

Yes definitely! There are a lot of people riding the cryptocurrency hype and they jump on this train without fully understanding its fundamentals and foundation. The funny thing is, after these people ignore to understand it, they seemed to be perplexed and confused after they check that the price of BTC plummeted. Unfortunately, these are also the people who spread false information and create a stigma that investing in BTC is a scam and a bubble.

If a person wants to invest into something, they must fully understand what they are entering to. If they blindly invest into something without even knowing what they are buying, then chances are that their investment may fail due to their decision of prematurely pulling it out.
1239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's a good idea to just register on casino on: January 26, 2023, 11:31:50 PM
Not a bad idea, if you do not mind to receive several emails and check them for the bonuses.
Also, obviously one is not supposed to sign in any casino that crosses one's path, shady casinos can also use the same technique for their own bad intentions.

Not sure how many reputable casinos around here send bonuses to inactive accounts to see if they can make them gamble, though.

This is what I am trying to avoid. Unfortunately, even sketchy casinos have a way of sending continuous and non-stop emails for promotions that looked genuine at first but deceptive at its core. Though I also doubt that reputable and trusted casinos would send some bonuses to inactive accounts but maybe they would after they accomplish and meet the required minimum withdrawal deposit in order to claim it.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to the terms and conditions of the website if it is illegal or not.
1240  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] Truqoin - Fake Team on: January 26, 2023, 11:17:17 PM

Umm... We might want to revise that. All three of them are fake.

....

Hey, thanks for this holy! I am going to edit my post and include your findings as well. For some reason, reverse-image search was not able to find the other two (2) members as well. I guess these are overwhelmingly evidence that signifies that the ANN is indeed a scam. Having fake team members constitute fraud and their deliberate intention to defraud other people.

With this finding, I will create a flag agains the user to alert other forum members in order to avoid this project at all cost. As always, thanks holy!

If you don't mind, would you post on their ann thread to invite them here so they can properly give their defense... suppose they're legit. I doubt they will, though.

Meanwhile, will also tag them.

Yup, there is no way that an ANN thread can defend fake team members on their project. This is a deliberate attempt on their end to create a fake project to defraud investors with a quick rug and pull.

I don't think they can defend this, they can defend plagiarism but stealing photos and claiming it to be part of the team is just impossible to defend, on plagiarism the most common alibi is they hire a writer to write a whitepaper for them but ended up copying other project's whitepaper, this is as good as we tag to be, scammers.
A fake team is a big no, because the platforms and roadmap depend so much on the team's skills and background.
