1302  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Factors that contribute to form addictive gambling. on: January 03, 2023, 11:57:47 PM
In comparison to live casinos, online casinos do not offer free drinks, but if one were to bet from the comfort of his/her zone, and had a fridge or cooler of chilled alcoholic drinks, it shouldn't be a yardstick to get drunk to the point of funding ones betting wallet all just to gamble at that instance of excitement. Also, if one can't get to control the amount of his/her alcoholic intake I don't think such a one can control the excitement that comes from gambling and shouldn't bet, make withdrawals or fund gambling wallets, while drunk.

What other factors do you know contribute to form addictive gambling?

While there may be no complementaries that are being offered in online casinos, still, it is in a form of bonuses and loyalty additions. Online gambling websites would definitely try to attract people with their new-user bonuses and other giveaways that can make at least a person spend more time. In addition, some also have the feature of providing free spins after they spend a certain threshold of money.

The winning prize is always the biggest contribution in forming addictive gambling. People always has this hope that they might win the jackpot soon since majority of the money can literally change a person's life in the process.
1303  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If you don't get the merit, the ranking won't go up? on: January 03, 2023, 11:02:17 PM
I understand your frustration because you have 112 posts and not yet rank up to JR.Member and still in a newbie rank, I checked your post history some of them deserve merits but unfortunately, they're unnoticed, I merited one of your posts that deserves it and encourage you to keep up creating posts like that, the one I merited, once you get the habit of posting relevant and good posts the merits will come automatically.

I just created my account today after scrolling through these forums for a few months. I am a newbie who doesn't have the intricate knowledge of cryptocurrency so how can I contribute to topics if I have no knowledge on them? I am going to start researching and reading a lot in the next few days and hopefully get merited. Thanks for your suggestion! Smiley

Just like any high-forum rankers, everyone started as a newbie and at the bottom. Even if you do not know much about the cryptocurrency world, then it is still possible for you to climb your way but it does require patience. Instead of focusing on the mindset of ranking up, focus on gaining knowledge and learning from the threads here. As soon as you start understanding the basics and fundamentals, you have now the capacity to contribute slowly and eventually get merits in the forum.

I do agree that even some high rankers are having difficulty gaining merits in the process but at the end of the day, not everything in this forum revolve around merits!
1304  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a lone Sports Bettor or a Team Sports Bettor? on: January 03, 2023, 06:02:08 PM
A lone sports bettor, in my opinion, is someone who does not rely on another person to interpret the odds and advise them which sporting event to wager on. Before placing a bet, the lone gambler conducts his own study and analysis.

In contrast, a team sports bettor, in my opinion, is a member of a betting community or group on Telegram, Facebook, or Twitter that is led by a self-described expert in sports betting. He or she chooses the game on which to make their wager after conducting the necessary research and analysis on their behalf.

Which of these categories do you belong to and why?

I think I belong to both of the categories as I also get some knowledge from outside sources other than my own research. In all honesty, having to know different opinions of a community can somehow give you a grasp of your decision to gamble on a certain team. For example, after doing my research on Team A, I discovered that there are some opinions and other information that are being shared against Team A, which I may believe or ignore.

Of course, the decision still lies on me on whether I should believe it or not but the information being spread by others is sometimes valuable. Most of the time, the research that I did is lacking and I get expert advice on some people depending on their extent of knowledge.
1305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We have been told: Invest only Extra money in bitcoin on: January 03, 2023, 05:46:14 PM
We have been told many times to invest only funds which you can afford to lose in bitcoins. But the question is that most of us do not have that extra funds to invest. So, what we do is we buy bitcoins from our savings, and from whatever money we get, we try to buy bitcoins. Middle class people do not have that EXTRA money WHICH THEY CAN"T AFFORD TO LOSE.

Yes, i invest in bitcoins but it is not EXTRA money and I am afraid I can't afford to lose. Do you have that EXTRA money that you can afford to lose  Huh

Do you consider your extra money as your savings? Then I guess there is really not much of a difference but some wordplay mentioned by OP but I do get your point. But in all honesty, investment is a choice and allocating a portion of your resources should be a decision that you have to make.

Like what I always mention, investing in cryptocurrencies does not guarantee profit- there has to be some effort, patience, and understanding being used by the person in order to take advantage of the high volatility of BTC.

At the end of the day, a person should invest with an open mind. He/she should understand that there is that risk present of losing or reducing your initial investment in order to at least be ready on the outcome.
1306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will it be profitable for the business? on: January 03, 2023, 05:13:02 PM
Suppose I am doing business through an online Facebook page and website and want to accept Bitcoin. But now if I look at cryptocurrencies it comes with high volatility, and I have doubts whether accepting Bitcoin will be profitable for my business.
I really want to know your opinion on this and what are the initial steps I should take if I adopt cryptocurrency for my business? Because I see many people on the forum are taking steps to accept Bitcoin for businesses and that's why these questions araised in my mind.

Why not just open the avenue of accepting cryptocurrencies as alternative payment for your business? Remember that the volatility of BTC is what makes it unique- if you can handle the volatility and HODL a partial amount for long-term, then I see no reason on why you should not accept it.

Again, investing into cryptocurrencies does not guarantee an absolute profit. There is still some further steps that must be taken in order to take advantage of its volatility to maximize your profits. Personally, the more payment options that are available, the more profitable and flexible your business would be.
1307  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: January 03, 2023, 04:44:44 PM
What are your thoughts on Magnus winning the three (3) coveted titles- Rapid, Blitz, and Classical Championships? I guess it pretty much sums up that he is indeed the GOAT of chess ever since the retirement of Kasparov. He won Rapid and Blitz respectively for three times now. He has indeed cemented himself as the best chess player to ever walk this Earth!

What are your thoughts on his retirement for over-the-board chess for one (1) year? He mentioned in an interview that he will not be active for a year BUT he will continue to participate in online tournaments.
1308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys bet on sports or casinos more? on: January 03, 2023, 03:52:32 PM
I bet on sports because of the knowledge I have there, you know betting without the necessary knowledge about a particular area might lead to you loosing your money, I don't really have the knowledge of casino but I have enough sporting knowledge that's why u bet on sports

Before, I used to bet on casinos since they were pretty easy and convenient to use. Even if I do not possess any knowledge on a certain game, as long as I know on how a game works, then I would attempt at least to bet on it. But as years passed and after countless of losses, I realized that sports betting was the way to go if I want to reduce the chances of me losing.

Compared to any other gambling methods, sports betting is considered to be the relatively safest method, as long as you have some knowledge on a team. If you are aware of their latest stats, information, etc. then it would be easier for you to bet and to win on the process.
1309  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How you can earn money from bitcointalk.org? on: January 03, 2023, 02:59:34 PM
Dude, take a look at your statement; the ideas in those two sentences are in direct opposition to one another. Isn't that funny? And because of that, I'm not sure that I believe many people still aren't aware of the potential available here. Look, most newcomers cited "signature/bounty campaigns" in their very first sentences.

I mean, I started with nothing before I joined this forum. After learning and gaining knowledge in this journey, I was given the opportunity and the privilege to participate in campaign signatures. From there, I was able to earn some BTCs which helped me in funding my education. So I guess it is normal for most newbies to aim in joining these bounties/signature campaigns. The problem lies when they tend to spam and create repetitive posts/threads which brings more harm than good.

Quote
Anyway, in terms of my motivation, I came here because a friend told me I could make money. However, as I get older here, I've come to realize that there are things worthier than weekly income. In addition to the money, I really like this forum for the education and entertainment it provides. I hope that every new member will adopt that mentality as they progress.

There are definitely more things that are better than income, but this kind of perspective is relative. Remember that not everyone has the privilege of living comfortably without the need of thinking about their daily/monthly obligations. As someone who lives in a third-world country, the proceeds that I earn weekly are far better compared to most blue-collared jobs here in the country.
1310  Economy / Economics / Re: Legal methods of acquiring free assets on: January 03, 2023, 02:41:08 PM
Are there good methods of legally acquiring free assets people would like to share?
I don't think there is any method to acquire a valuable asset for free, except you are prolly inheriting them from your family or something. In the case of this earthmoving equipments that are old and prolly spoilt, no one is going to give them to you for free unless they know you would spend a fortune in making it work again, and it prolly might not, or it could spoil again after a few weeks/months of your repair. Thus i don't think you are even getting them for free per se, because you are definitely going to put in time and resources into something that might turn out unsuccessful.

There are assets that fall under the "low supply" and "low demand" category that can generally yield a good profit if you hold onto them for a certain amount of time or find someone with a good interest in them. Two examples of these could be vinyls and grand pianos - but it doesn't stop there - there's many other items that can be resold for a higher price.

I've seen huge victorian writing desks (that look like they're made similar to antique grand pianos) get listed for between $4000-$16000+. Grand pianos themselves (and organs) are either worthless or worth thousands (and sometimes both at the same time).

There's then the opportunity of transforming things into other items that are either usable or not. There's a decent number of old busses that get turned into campervans, a few airplanes that get turned into hotels. If you make something saught after and turn a profit, you might just be on to something.

Interesting- then what is stopping people from acquiring these so-called "free assets"? For example, an abandoned luxury (or any cheap model) car may be acquired by anyone and could be sold for the scrap metals they possess.

Though I remember I watched this documentary about some abandoned vehicles in Dubai in which the owners themselves do not recover it. Most of them abandoned these cars since they cannot pay the remaining balance, so they fly away to some other country and the government retrieves the said assets. If you truly want to purchase these cars, then the person has to pay the remaining balance in order to get it.

I do think that nothing is free in this world. There is always that proportionate equivalent which may not be in a form of "money" but time, patience, and skills which are considered the trade-off of such.
1311  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does money bring you security ? on: January 03, 2023, 12:23:25 PM

Well, it is a fact that money buys a lot of things that we both need and want. Nobody can deny material possessions give us comfort and joy in most times. However, it is really a question whether money brings you a feeling of security. In my experience, a lot of rich people are living in anxiety and fear. Before they got rich, all efforts and endeavours were taken most of their life and time but after they reached where they are now, insecurity and anxiety take control of their life. Have you ever thought about this ? Please share your thoughts.

Remember that some of the rich people started from the bottom. They definitely had to hustle and to grind in order to sustain their living or at least to meet their monthly obligations. Personally, majority of those rich people who feel fear and anxiety are the ones who are most likely to succeed and maintain their status quo in the society.

Money will definitely give you the sense of security since almost everything revolves around it. If you have a handful amount of resources, then you have access to every possible avenue of healthcare, housing, education, food, etc. that will make your life relatively comfortable.
1312  Other / Archival / Re: Long-term Bitcoin accumulation continues on: January 03, 2023, 12:10:29 PM
This was pretty much expected, seeing the price of bitcoin these days it makes a lot of sense to accumulate bitcoin for longer term. It's like bitcoin is available at more than 70% discount. This a really good buying opportunity and one should definitely grab it. Even return investors who are interested in buying or even averaging bitcoin this is the best opportunity for you.

I am definitely looking forward this 2024 for the next BTC fork. Just like the past forks that happened, the price of BTC skyrocketed in the market even if it lasted only for a short time. This should be a target among most investors if they really want to maximize their profits in the coming years to come.

Just like any investment, a fork does not guarantee an absolute profit as proper diligence and caution must still be exercised. Take advantage of all the possible situations as long as your initial investment is higher.
1313  Economy / Gambling / Re: What sort of Weekly & Monthly Bonuses do Bitcointalk members want? on: January 03, 2023, 03:25:21 AM
Currently we offer level-up bonuses for our VIP and rakeback. However, due to popular demand, we are looking to implement weekly and monthly bonuses as well. Do you guys happen to have any recommendations for a formula we should use in determining what an appropriate weekly/monthly bonus should be?

We would love to hear feedback from all bitcointalk members!

Hope you guys have an awesome and safe New Years! Smiley

-Punt Management

Generally, weekly and monthly bonuses are always welcomed especially that majority of the users would love to take advantage of this kind of bonus. In addition, a referral award would also be nice; and giving bonuses after they reach a certain threshold (e.g. kickback, etc.) of spending would at least alleviate the users from their losses.

Maybe you guys could also implement a loyalty bonus to users who regularly gambles a certain amount in your website and provide them some sort of privilege that would mostly attract them in staying in your website.
1314  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is playing national lottery smart or waste of time? on: January 02, 2023, 05:54:25 PM

But the reality is, such lotteries usually have way worse odds than any casinos or gambling sites. So, mathematically speaking, you're better off gambling your money there.

Thoughts?

But millions of people choose to ignore or do not know this, all they know is this is their ticket to escape poverty and change their life, even if it's almost impossible to hit the jackpot, we also have a lottery here and we have 9 games held daily because we supported our lottery because it is government-run and the proceeds of the profit are being used by our government in the health sector and for social welfare.
I play the lotto often, and I know that it's almost impossible to hit the jackpot but I support our government-run lottery because of the benefits our poor people are getting.

I think this is more of testing one's luck given the amount of money a person can potentially win. Though you are right that the odds are worse, but imagine that if you hit the jackpot, this could definitely alter wholly your lifestyle and make big changes within the whole family.

Again, I doubt that it is a waste of time given that the amount of money being wagered is not that huge compared to normal gambling. Plus, everyone can participate in this kind of venture and not call themselves as "gamblers" unlike if you actually visit a casino and bet huge amounts.
1315  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Expectation for 2023 on: January 02, 2023, 04:49:41 PM
I agree with the other tips except this one

  • Read news about crypto, if you read news there are things that you will learn from it
There's so many false and wrong news out there, not to mention the news that like to frame or just a rumor. Those articles are rubbish, one of those article is cryptogeek, I hope everyone doesn't read any news from this article although this site has a good SEO, that's usually make this site show on the top of the first page.

I guess the right phrase should be getting your news on verified websites and not on third-party websites that share false information. With this, the responsibility falls on your shoulders in looking for the right websites for the information.

Of course, everyone wants to profit at the end of the day. Bearing this in mind, you should also consider the things that are bound to happen, such as the incoming fork this 2024. While there may be no big news so far this 2023 that affects the price of crypto, be ready just in case something happens big. Always have some reserve cryptocurrency in order to at least maximize your profit in the end.
1316  Economy / Economics / Re: Your way of living the wage what you need to live normal life on: January 02, 2023, 04:29:06 PM
The goverment should restrict prices of rent for example If you rent out the Property goverment should check what could be the price of rent so to make sure person who rent will not use most of the work salary for rent
At some point of time, I think this has happened in some state in the US. I think it was way back during the pandemic's height but eventually they have to put it back when things have been likely neutral again.

And again, it is unlikely to ever happen again or maybe if some big global crisis ever has come again. Then for sure that rent prices will be badly affected and there will be no more renters due to high prices that they're asking.

I doubt that the government can restrict prices of rents given that it is primarily a private venture made by businessmen. I guess the only solution here is for the government to provide their own housing methods and alternatives if they want to control such prices. Like what you have mentioned, I guess the exception happened due to the pandemic where a global crisis affected the economy globally.

At the end of the day, the wage of a person determines his/her standard of living. In the Philippines, the minimum wage of a person is at least $12-15/day and it is definitely not enough to cover all the expenses especially if you consider your obligations in the family.
1317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting Types Newbies Should know About on: January 02, 2023, 07:43:58 AM
Indeed. These are some of the most popular types of bets that are commonly offered at sportsbooks. Here's another one:

  • Futures bet: This is a bet on the outcome of a future event, such as which team will win the championship in a particular league. For example: Super Bowl or World Series. Futures bets are often made before the event takes place and the odds can change as the event approaches.

This is very interesting and informative at the same time. To be honest, these are also the key information that I am not familiar with, but I nonetheless bet due to my impulsive decisions to gamble. Knowing these types of betting would definitely help not only newbies but also veterans as well in understanding the fundamentals of these bets. While they may seem useless or irrelevant, knowing these types would at least give you the knowledge on which type you can choose from.

Hopefully more posts about these guides would be created in order to help everyone with these unexpected and helpful posts!
1318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My First Bitcoin on the New Year Day 2023. on: January 02, 2023, 03:01:07 AM
Hey OP! Congratulations on receiving your first BTC ever! It may be relatively small but its value will accumulate overtime as long as you keep an eye on its price on the market. Do not worry, however, as this would be the start of your many BTCs to come. The good thing is that you started your adventure now and prepare to feel a roller-coaster of emotions in this journey.

Take precaution, however, that this kind of space does not absolutely guarantee that you will earn profit at the end of the day. Like any other investment, this requires some time, effort, and knowledge in order to maximize your profits in the end.
1319  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you have 1 bitcoin? on: January 01, 2023, 07:24:00 PM
Hello friends
Do you currently have at least 1 bitcoin?
Many people sold their bitcoins after quite a big drop, but i am sure there are people who still hodl a large amount of bitcoins
And i always wonder what motivates those people
Faith, hope, unemotional analytics or the ability to see the future? Cheesy
Please, answer only those who really own at least 1 bitcoin
Thank you

As someone who consistently participated in campaign signatures ever since I joined this forum in 2017, based on my blockchain records, I have earned at least 0.7 BTC in my lifetime. However, such BTC has been liquidated as I have used majority of them throughout the years in order to fund my education through the purchase of various educational materials. Though I do have regrets of NOT saving and HODLING them, in retrospect, at least I was able to indirectly help in supporting my family in alleviating the expenses at least on my end.

Hopefully when I get the opportunity to earn income, I would be able to purchase BTC on a consistent basis for my long-term savings.
1320  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers that don't understand basic gambling concepts. on: January 01, 2023, 06:31:30 PM
I think a lot of whiny threads of people telling how they ended up losing a lot more than they expected would be minimised if people understood these basic concepts. Although knowing the theory doesn't guarantee it 100% because we sometimes get carried away by emotions.

I am sure that some of those who think they understand these concepts but in reality do not will comment on this thread Grin.

Unfortunately, majority of the gamblers do not understand the basic concepts and principles of gambling as their main focus is to hastily gamble. Upon learning at least the fundamentals, they would actually understand the risks associated on the techniques that they are employing. Like you said, if they thought that their current technique is working but in reality is not, then this would be a good opportunity for them to learn in order to reduce the risks of losing.

Though you are correct that knowing these basics would not guarantee an absolute win on their part but this would at least lessen the chances of them losing more money in the process.
