1261  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts on revenge trading? on: January 19, 2023, 03:03:33 PM
Of recent, I've come across alot of people talking about traders chasing their losses which at the end, leads to possible blowing of accounts.
I understand that people trade with expections and most times when this expectations aren't met, they try as much as possible to chase after their losses and my questions are
~ what is your take on revenge trading?

I do not think that I have encountered the term "revenge trading" but it somehow implies that a person would trade due to their frustration on incurring their losses. Personally, I find this method really risky as you are basing it almost purely on one's emotional drive on the reason they would trade again.

Quote
~ Do you think people intentionally go into revenge trading or is is just emotional?

I do think that there is a factor of emotional drive that compels them to trade again. The problem is that most traders gamble their funds large-scale. They trade large amounts of resources and they hope of recovering such losses by trading again. This potentially can impair their judgement especially if they tend to lose more in the process.

Quote
~ what will you advise someone making series of losses ?

My number one advice is to always clear your head and move on. Once you experience a loss on your trade, consider it as a normal occurrence. Remember that trading by itself is a risky venture where no profit is absolute to realize. Learn from your experience as this differentiates a newbie trader from an experienced one.
1262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It is ok to sell your Bitcoin. on: January 19, 2023, 02:44:35 PM
So my question is:
~ Do people hodl just because others are HODLing?

This depends on the goal of that person. Generally, people would HODL since they see the advantage and the value of BTC skyrocketing in the future. Though there are also some cases where people HODL due to the majority trend of most people in this space. But realistically speaking, people HODL due to that hope and possibility of making large amounts of profit in the end.

Quote
~ Why do people hodl rather than sell and buy again when low

Maybe some people are not accustomed to the buy/sell aspect but again, it all boils down to the personal preference of these people. Buying and selling may seem rather inconvenient especially if the difference in the price is somehow minimal.

Quote
~ What is your major reason for HODLing and how do your survive the bear market?

Personally, the major reason on why I HODL is due to the possibility of the price of BTC skyrocketing. My best basis and example is its price history index. The fact that it reached an ATH of $60,000 last year means that there is that possibility of reaching that price again in the market.
1263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice on choosing a crypto casino on: January 18, 2023, 11:17:53 PM
How to choose a casino, is there a criterion for this, or do you just go to any casino and play? It's a rash move without preparation. Also interested in a payment system, which is recommended to play in such casinos? Or just a suitable crypto wallet? I apologize for my silly questions, but I want to understand everything once and for all.

Personally, it is somehow of a deal-breaker for me that the gambling website should contain an ANN thread or at least an active gambling thread in this forum. Not only does it bolster its reputation but it also gives me a sense of security that their customer service representative would be able to reach out as soon as possible in the event of a problem.

In addition, you might also want to check online gambling websites that contain an active signature campaign in this forum. The fact that they can run a prestigious campaign means that they have a steady fund allotted for such. This means that they are somehow serious in making their website for long-term for its users.
1264  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambler Loses 1.4 million USD in a bet with lower than 1.01 odds! on: January 18, 2023, 10:56:22 PM
I have lost 1.01 odd before, I have lost 1.05 odd more than ones before, I have lost 1.02 several times that let me know that going for lower odds is stupidity, it will only encourage you to increase the money you use to stake and losses is still possible. It is a means of getting addicted too.

I have won 1.25 to 2 odds before very well, if I take higher odd with lower amount of money and lose, it is better than going for lower odds with high amount of money.

I definitely agree with your statement. There is this hope that people think about the return of profit in lower odds. The tendency is that they would most likely stake more money as the odds get lower, thereby increasing their risks further from losing on the end.

At the end of the day, gambling is something that cannot guarantee any absolute result. It is a double-edged sword where a person may win/loss at any given moment. No matter what the odds may be, there will always be that chance of them losing. But in the spirit of being careful, the gambler has the power to at least lessen/reduce the risks of losing at the end of the gambling cycle.

Totoo to bro isa talaga itong ponzi scheme.

Ang rule ko lagi is that if the project is too good to be true, then most likely scam ito.
1266  Other / Archival / Re: Mass adoption: Naming my child bitcoin on: January 18, 2023, 03:01:04 PM
.....
And this would accord me the opportunity to enlighten them about bitcoin and the advantages it has. I believe this would in a little way help promote mass adoption of in my locality and the nation at large.

Hey, I understand that you do want to support mass adoption of BTC but I think it is going to be significantly unfair for your child to be named as "bitcoin."

If you want to pursue such mass adoption, do it in a way that it will not affect anyone (especially your own child) personally. By naming your child as bitcoin, this does not guarantee mass adoption, though this will definitely guarantee exposure as lots of people and even news anchors would advertise him.

Again, this is definitely not a good idea by any means as there are other options available in order for your dream to materialize.
1267  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 10 Biggest U.S Lottery Jackpots Ever...(Until Now) on: January 17, 2023, 11:40:12 PM
Millions of people play the lottery, but only a few win the jackpot. It is therefore virtually impossible to win the jackpot. I think it is impossible to win a huge amount of money at an online casino. It's just not profitable for the casino. If you want to win a lot of money, it's better not to dream about it. Reality and dreams are two different things.

I do agree with your statement. I mean, winning the lottery is considered to be a once in a lifetime opportunity where the odds are so low that it is impossible for one to win during his/her lifetime. I mean, if you literally won the lottery, it is just like you won in life. But with this kind of money bears with the responsibility of handling your financials. I remember watching a video where majority of the previous lottery winners succumbed to addiction and gambling, thereby losing all of their money in the process.

Just a quick question for everybody- assuming that you won the lottery, would you guys opt to take the winnings via lumpsum or a one-time bigtime single cash out of the prize?
1268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: January 17, 2023, 11:25:14 PM
Have you guys been watching the Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2023? Yesterday, Magnus Carlsen has lost a game of classical chess (which is vey rare as he usually draws games with the black pieces) against Anish Giri. Anish has been playing outstanding in this tournament, even defeating Gukesh in which I consider one of his immortal games when he sacrificed majority of his pieces to have an attack.

What do you guys think of this tournament? Will Magnus be able to reach that coveted 2900 rating anytime soon or is it something that is impossible to obtain given the current rankings and standings of the players?
1269  Economy / Economics / Re: Does a side job/business improve your finanical stability ? on: January 17, 2023, 11:09:19 PM

To make a living, we must work. In uncertain days like now facing the global economic downturn, a stable job with high income becomes a scarcity. A side job or business seems like more necessary than ever, which can minimize the risks of losing your current job, ending up pennyless. However, a side job/business also takes time and efforts and can never be attained whenever we need it. What did you do or will you do in order to ensure your finanical stability despite all unfavorable circumstances ?

As someone who lives in a third-world country where every penny counts, having a side job/business is considered both an opportunity and a privilege. As soon as you earn your own money on the sideline, you would realize the importance of money as you progress to your daily tasks.

I remember back in college, I was struggling to purchase my own books. I wanted to ask my father (single dad with 4 children) for money but I know that the priority was catered towards my younger siblings. Fortunately, I came across this forum due to my old friend recommending me to try it out.

Fast forward to five (5) years from now, I have joined various and multiple campaign signatures and definitely helped me financially in purchasing my own educational materials. I guess without the convenience of working online, I would not have a relatively easier time compared if I did not learn about this forum and the opportunities it introduced.
1270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin AI Generated Images on: January 17, 2023, 10:25:36 PM
those are some pretty good AI renders.
previous generation AI images badly cropped, layered and merged pictures together where you can see the blurred layering and such

AI has come long way in last couple years.
im impressed by the quality of these results

This is definitely true! The quality, the lights, the atmosphere and the overall aesthetic is just simply sublime with these computer-generated AI images. Imagine, since these were created in just one website, the potential of businesses using this as their promotional pictures/videos would definitely entice people to spark their curiosity on checking out cryptocurrencies.

There is one downside, however, that these computer-generated AI images extend not only to Bitcoin but also to real-life images as well. I remember that this website https://this-person-does-not-exist.com/en generates thousands of new faces that are currently being used by some ANN threads on their team member page.
1271  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Negative Perception sa PH Crypto Start-up project on: January 17, 2023, 04:15:54 PM
Unfortunately, napakadaming pinoy scammers ang nagkakalat ngayon. Even outside the cryptocurrency sphere, ang daming mga Filipinos who take advantage of the online set-up in order to get a quick buck. Not to mention, with the creation of new blockchain projects, mas lalong lumalala yung stigma especially if gawa ito ng isang Filipino.

Though some might argue din naman na involve din ang foreigners dito, pero mga ganito kase na bagay mas lalong nagiging prominent sa bansa. I remember ang daming blockchain projects that were created tapos nagiging invest-to-play sila. Tapos after a year or even less a year of operations, biglang mag pupull-out na sila.

1272  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you handle your losses on: January 17, 2023, 03:23:25 PM
I ensure my emotion is in check:
I remind myself regularly that I am only having fun that can either be winning or loss, and what ever be the outcome it is for the fun of the moment and not a get rich quick scheme.
If you can remind that your main goal is for having fun, I believe you won't have a problem with your losses. This is the ultimate way to deal with your losses, you focus on getting entertainment and don't really care about the losses. As long as you use small money and it is limited money, you won't feel so hurt when you get losses. The complicated problem only rises when we use big money, even worse it is loan money. That's why only use the extra money and it must be money that can afford to loseWink

Well this is true but to a certain extent depending on the amount that is lost on the process.

For example, a gambler may prioritize having fun as the main goal but he/she still may incur huge amounts of losses. Obviously, in that case, keeping your emotions in check may be somehow and relatively difficult. Though I do agree that if your main goal is to have fun, then the amount gambled should not be an issue. If this is the intention of the gambler, then he/she must gamble using limited or at least a small amount in the games.
1273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is It good For The Casinos And The Accusers If .. on: January 17, 2023, 12:19:28 AM
Is It Good For The Casinos And The Accusers If the casino operators decided to post a disclaimer that they will not answer accusations here in Bitcointalk but prefer to address them on other platforms that they think are fair and moderated like Askgambler and other platforms?
What's your take on this I don't want to be specific but the question applies to all casino operators.

If they were to do this, then they are potentially losing half of their players and potential users as well.

The reason on why this forum is so essential to online gambling is due to the convenience of customer service. If they refuse to answer any accusations in this forum, then they are basically saying that we should adhere to their own rules. The reason on why this platform works is because other forum members are welcome to enter the discussion and others may also share/contribute in order to resolve the problem.

Basically, it is like they are putting themselves at risk of losing their trust if they have such disclaimer. Heck, I would not even attempt to gamble at their website in the event I saw such disclaimer.
Ngayon pretty much dead ung group.

I definitely agree with your statement.

1275  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: SIM Registration: Anong Dapat Ipag-alala? on: January 16, 2023, 03:26:11 PM
<snip>

Agree ako sa sinabi mo but I have some reservations.

May kaibigan ako na na-scam after niyang bumili ng isang laptop sa isang FB Page (more than 10k likes) after niya mag send ng payment thru GCash.
1276  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why Bitcointalk is the best forum on: January 16, 2023, 11:03:56 AM
Bitcointalk has been active for over a decade and is still getting better everyday ,Though it has some hard times like the time it was hacked and others but still yet it continues to improve. Bitcointalk has been able to stay this long and improving because of contributions from members of the Forum starting with the founder Satoshi Nakamoto and other awesome members.
It is a fact that Most Newbies now join Bitcointalk just to make money and this is not the main aim of this forum but thankfully you can't really earn without contributing or by breaking the rules and regulations because there are still True members watching this Forum
So my advice for we Newbies is start thinking of a way of improving this forum first before earning.

There may be many good things about this forum and there may be many bad things which people may say about it, but believe me, this is the best forum to discuss anything related to bitcoin and crypto currencies. Even the sections like Politics and off-topic have some indept discussions which you won't find any other forum.
The reason is that people here are always willing to reply you in detail and express their point of view.

I think its simplicity also contributes on why this is considered the best forum. Not to mention, Satoshi created this forum primarily for the discussion of BTC and other cryptocurrencies. There are even lots of users online in this forum and you can also discuss various business opportunities and trades among the threads.

But if I were to commend, it is the leadership of the moderators that definitely contribute to the success of this forum. Forum moderators and some members helped in creating this forum as the biggest cryptocurrency website. Though there may be scammers and hackers, most members have helped towards contributing overall.
1277  Economy / Economics / Re: what is the key to your success investing in bitcoin.. on: January 16, 2023, 09:07:42 AM
One of my keys to success is always the price history index of BTC. The fact that it started from nothing and it slowly gained traction in the coming years is one solid basis for me to HODL my coins long-term. In addition, there has been a trend that every fork/halving, the price of BTC increases. I guess those are enough proof and basis for me to rely on to keep continue in HODLing my coins.

Lastly, the price of BTC at the last quarter of 2022 was around $6500. Currently, the price sits comfortably around +$7000 which guaranteed a profit to most BTC HODLers who bought BTC during that time.
1278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: betting against the Public, is this strategy working? on: January 15, 2023, 11:57:19 PM
I have seen some live score prediction sites that indicates the people that go for win, draw or lose, but this has been what I do not always consider, even I noticed most times that people take the teams I want to go for, but just that I can select only one team because not all are certain. But this is how I do it, if I want to take a team, I will make analysis myself to know if the team are worth going for.

I guess this works sometimes but not most of the time? This kind of betting falls on a specific kind of team that you are rooting for. Since a person is betting against the public, he/she is somehow not considering other factors and facts that may lessen the risk of losing.

An example can be seen in sports betting where a person will bet on his favorite team, rather than betting on a team that is much superior in terms of its winning rate, stats, shooters, etc. Though this kind of betting is particularly fun, it is somehow more risky on your end.
1279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is it becoming a thread for casinos refusing paying very huge winnings? on: January 15, 2023, 02:53:51 PM
I came across a topic recently now of this very thread about a casino refusing to pay a woman her jackpot winnings of over £35.4m and if you'll all agree with me that, this isn't a little sum of money to just ignore.

What got me worried isn't just the winning but to know why casinos are getting away without paying players their exactly winnings with some shitty excuses ?

Link to the post of the woman's winnings below
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5433888.0
Please I really want to understand this question and will be glad to hear from people

I think it has something to do with their business model. Remember that casinos are businesses and designed in order for the owner to profit/earn money from it. That is also the reason on why there are house edges available to be able to at least gain some advantage and not absolutely be destroyed by the risks.

Unfortunately, lots of casinos nowadays have started to protest against their own customers whereby some winnings were  considered void. I guess one factor could be its very nature where these people can easily get away by claiming that their machine "malfunctioned."
