321  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Management on: February 10, 2024, 03:16:47 PM
I started to realize and change my habits. Now I use $$ from the profits from the previous bet to place the next bet and save my initial capital.

What do you think, is this good and can help me overcome losses that will occur so that $$ remains safe and can be used in future betting? Are there other unique ways that you can use to grow your money in gambling? feel free to comment. Thanks

Yes this is definitely a good start towards your gambling journey.

Always remember- always pay yourself first. Meaning, set aside the money that you initially used as your gambling funds so that whatever outcome that may happen, the worst possible thing that you may experience is having a breakeven game. This prevents loss on your part since you are gambling the proceeds that came from your initial funds for gambling.

For long-term, however, this may backfire due to the presence of house edge. If you truly want to gamble and profit, then try your very best to NOT make it a habit and view gambling as an activity that is primarily exercised once-in-a-blue-moon.
322  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your state on mind if your son stole your money to gamble? on: February 10, 2024, 02:26:03 PM
<..snip..>
Question: would she be so disheartened and mad as this if the son had won the bet on a multi million price?
Dear fellows, let's assume you are the mom, what would be your state of mind on this context?

If I were the mom, I would definitely be upset regardless of the outcome.

The fact that my son is capable of stealing on my money without any prior permission violates any kind of moral decency. If he/she has the guts to steal money, what more evil things that he/she may do? Sure, he has won millions in gambling but that does not change the fact that he/she was able to do it to his own mother.

Gambling can definitely bring the best/worst on a person depending on the outcome. There are lots of learnings that one may experience- they can see the true colors of a person especially if they hit rock-bottom; and you can also experience the best of a person by sharing the winnings immediately after winning.

Deep sentiment of failure. As parents, we have the obligation to educate well our children and prepare them for a sometimes difficult life, full of beautiful but also dangerous things.

Drugs, gambling, algorithms... have some well known risks if misused.

We cannot control the environment (friends, media, availability of such potentially addictive things), but I think that I'd feel guilty for not having done enough to educate well a son or daughter who did that, even if I had done everything that would have been in my hands.

I definitely agree with your statement.

As parents, we have the obligation to nurture our children in bringing the best into their welfare. If we expose them in a potentially dangerous environment surrounded by vices and violence, it is natural for them to associate themselves with this kind of environment.

I think the problem with most newbies when they enter this forum is focusing too much on raking-up. I mean, sure- everyone wants to rank-up and participate in campaign signatures but knowing what cryptocurrencies are and their fundamentals are just as important.

Newbies, the internet will be your best friend. Everything that you can know about the basics and fundamentals of cryptocurrencies can be seen by just searching it on various search engines and the search bar in this forum. Since most of the questions asked by newbies have been answered countless of times, it is about time that you newbies should do your part as well.

In conclusion, newbies you do your part as well. Before asking questions about the basics, search it first to yourself. Watch videos and do not be complacent that everyone would spoon feed you with information.
324  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does even freezing a customer's account curb irresponsible gambling? on: February 10, 2024, 09:47:44 AM
If suddenly you went on a binge-gambling out of a lack of self-control or something else. For example, you deposit money in rapid succession after a series of losses and the casino management freezes your account. And when you call their customer support, they tell you that your account has been frozen for 3 weeks and the reason why they carried out that measure was because they suspected that you were gambling irresponsibly and decided to take that measure so that you can call yourself back to order, will you feel furious, cuss out, sign out of your account and register on another casino and continue betting. Does even freezing a customer's account curb irresponsible gambling or betting addiction?

First and foremost, I doubt that gambling platforms would implement this kind of idea. Additionally, how can they say also that a person has been gambling "irresponsibly" by relying only on the deposit history?

Gambling establishments are businesses. This means that their goal and aim here is to accumulate profit. Any implementation or activity that may hinder their business model is against their mandate and goal in the first place.

While there may be gambling casinos/platforms that have some sort of instrument or sign that may warn a user about their expenditures, I really do believe that restricting another one's account and preventing them from gambling further would not be carried out by these establishments.
325  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Nagresign sa trabaho dahil kumitw ng malaki sa Bitcoin? on: February 09, 2024, 06:58:45 PM
Ohhh medyo difficult na question to if you will quit your job to live with your BTC investment. While this may be difficult, may kilala akong isang tao na meron mahigi 122+ BTCs inside his coins.ph wallet.

Back in 2017, I have this friend (kasama ko siya sa basketball) that invested lots of money during the early stages of BTC. As time passed by, nakapag save siya ng more than 100+ BTCs in his wallet tapos pumapasok pa siya ng 1-2 BTCs in some ponzi-schemes. Well, fortunately for him, kumita siya sa ponzi-scheme (USI-tech) tapos tumaas BTCs niya up to 122 and pinakita niya mismo sa akin.

At that time, he quit his job tapos nag abroad siya para doon niya na gagamitin yung BTCs niya. Kaso nga lang, na hold ng US yung bank account niya dahil may pumapasok na malaking halaga due to his BTC investment. Pinapapunta siya sa US to clear this tapos humingi pa siya ng loan sa amin for his ticket and he also used his Fortuner as a collateral.

Cut the long story short, na unfreeze yung bank account niya and as far as I know nasa US na siya ngayon with his family.
326  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Isn’t it better late than sorry? on: February 09, 2024, 05:58:34 PM
That's why those who believe in themselves and the asset they are investing in early, makes more profit than those who joined later.
If you join late, you are just exit liquidity for those who were first or before from you. That's how it works.
It's better late than sorry if you are not aware of the fundamentals of the assets your investing in.

I agree with your statement.

It really depends on how you view cryptocurrencies as a whole. During the early stages of cryptocurrency, only a few believed on how it could potentially skyrocket in the future. When most people have realized that there was an enormous opportunity as an investment mechanism, lots of people joined and invested money without even fully understanding on what they are investing on.

To cut the long story short, those people who quickly invested without knowing what cryptocurrencies really are pulled-out their investments when they saw that the prices plummeted; while others who believed in cryptocurrencies HODL their investments and profited when its price skyrocketed within a few months after that.

The conclusion here is that you view cryptocurrencies more than just an investment- see it as a tool that can be potentially used by countries by integrating it into their financials.
327  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Taking a break in gambling on: February 09, 2024, 04:45:08 PM
How do you guys manage to take a break in gambling? I’m not asking for advice but rather I’m just interested to know what you are doing on your own or if you really do a break.

When I used to gamble a lot, there were times were I just felt really unlucky. With this feeling, this actually compelled me to stop and to experience other entertainments in order to satisfy the urge of coming back. As time passes by, it made me realize that I can actually stop gambling and there are other things that can give me the same satisfaction without me risking my money in the process.

Quote
I recently decided to take a break since I want to hold my crypto due to its increasing value and I don’t to spend it while it’s giving me passive profit. I just claiming bonus now or anything that is free to still enjoy gambling without risking my money.

What is the instances that makes you take a break in gambling?

Like what I mentioned above, it is going to be easy for a person to take a break from gambling if they are experiencing a losing streak. This can compel you to stop and to see things from a different perspective that there are other activities that can bring joy outside the gambling world.
328  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do coaches get sacked over poor performance of players? on: February 09, 2024, 03:41:11 PM
I know some people will argue that the coach is the leader of the team and should be responsible for building the unity and love the team need to play in high morale, but in a case the players happen to have hated the coach and have decided to lose matches as punishment for their coach, is it right to fire the coach?

Coaches have control over the team- they are the master of techniques and plans in which every member of the team must follow. They also control on how each member of the team will play their respective role and position during the game. Additionally, coaches have the responsibility to control each of the members of the team and assign them a respective position in which the players should follow.

If a coach also cannot handle the players and the expectation on the team that they are handling, naturally, the blame will be on them. Sure, there may be other factors that play a role on it (e.g. poor performance of the players, etc.) but if the coach does not live to his responsibility, the ultimate fault will be on him no matter how fortunate the situation may be.

Personally, I do think that firing a coach outright is not ideal. There should be some sort of metric system in order to determine if the said coach has been underperforming or not.
329  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If I bet big I lose, but if I bet small I win on: February 09, 2024, 12:39:34 PM
Guys, do you often feel like me? when I raise the bet I lose and when I lower the bet I win. Does the casino system/algorithm know the betting patterns we make? So often when we bet big we are given a loss and when our bet is small we actually win, which is very annoying

I don't know if this applies to all games or not, but I feel like this often when playing table games. What do you think?

Nah, it just means that you just have a bad luck on your games.

Your situation somehow creates this illusion that whenever you bet big, you lose; and whenever you bet small, you win. Do not be tempted to fight this- this is an illusion that is somehow created by the natural circumstances surrounding the environment of your gambling activities.

This also happened to me before but the moment that I rationalized and justified it, I just lost more money in the process.

Again, do not give in to this temptation and just call it a day and move on.
330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have a habit of tracking your gambling progress? on: February 08, 2024, 06:03:51 PM
Do you have a habit of tracking your gambling progress?

Nope, I do not keep a track of my gambling progress.

While many people seem to take this for granted, I do highly recommend it in order to keep track of your expenses. If you try to input every expenditure in an excel sheet, then you could observe and see if you are actually profiting or not. In addition, this can also give you a broad idea on how much money you have spent on this habit.

Though this may be the case, this is more applicable to people who view gambling as a means of profit. But for people who view it for entertainment, then I guess keeping a track of expenses can give you also an idea on how much money you have allocated it.
331  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: AI-generated fake IDs claimed to pass crypto exchange KYC are selling for $15 on: February 08, 2024, 04:02:26 PM
For anyone crypto exchange user, they will already know that such services are just potential scams waiting to happen, this is because the accounts that are verified via a fake ID will definitely lead to account problems along the line, and reputable exchanges will definitely discover those accounts under such condition and status.

So for a trader who wants to use the exchange to trade large coins will definitely avoid this kind of service because it will eventually lead to problems in the long run.

As far as our local exchanges go, they are very strict with the implementation and execution of their KYC process.

To give you a concrete example, not only does our local exchange (coins.ph) require you to submit government issued IDs, they also require you to submit additional documents (e.g. bank statements, ITR, etc.) to strengthen your position on their exchange. Not to mention, it also requires some movement behind their registration process like moving your head sideways, etc. for them to accurately tell if you are using fake IDs or not.

Though the above-mentioned exchange have implemented their KYC in a very strict manner, I still hope that some exchanges follow this example. The only downside is that it may push others to not register and avoid the said exchange due to stringent requirements.
332  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How's problem gambling different from compulsive gambling. on: February 08, 2024, 02:27:20 PM
I am actually confused on the headline as I believe that there is no difference between problem gambling and compulsive gambling as they are both problems to begin with.

When we mean by compulsive gambling, this means that the person has difficulty in controlling his temptations with the urges of him/her to gamble. It also means that the person will most likely give in if ever they are presented with the opportunity and temptation to gambling regardless if it is convenient or not.

In the above-mentioned phrase, compulsive gambling necessarily absorbs problem gambling as the former is a problem in itself. I do also think that we do not have to prolong the discussion on what their similarities/differences are but they are both problems in the gambling space that must be addressed.

333  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you beleive in the concept of "Luck"? on: February 08, 2024, 09:12:20 AM
Do you believe in Luck? If so, how do you describe your perception of this concept?

Yes, I do believe in luck.

Luck is something that is somehow difficult to put into words to- it just happens and you cannot describe on how you were able to experience it. Sometimes, people see it as a 50/50 thing but statistics tells a different thing. For me, luck happens but you also have to put your situation in order to be prepared by the luck.

Quote
How lucky do you think you are from 1 to 10?

I actually consider myself unlucky, so I would rate my luck to 5.

Quote
Does your sense of luck in regular life correlate with your luck in gambling?

Nope they do not correlate at all.

My luck in gambling does not equate to my luck in real life, in fact, they are completely opposite. I find myself very unlucky whenever I try to gamble with my resources in a casino. I often lose and this is the reason on why I really avoid gambling. On the other hand, I find myself lucky in some situations in my real life in which some are unexplainable in some point.

Quote
Do you believe that some special things or actions can increase your luck?

I do believe that there are only some instances where you can increase your luck in the context of gambling.

For example, in certain card games such as poker, you can somehow control your luck by applying some techniques. You can bluff or even apply probabilities in determining which card may show in the next pool phase.
334  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever introduced an elder gambler to online betting? on: February 08, 2024, 08:21:57 AM
<..snip..>
And you, have you ever successfully introduced an elder person to virtual gambling?

Oh yes and the my girlfriend sometimes blames me for this.

The family of my girlfriend lives in a province-like city. Technically, it's a province but with city-like structures due to the modernizations that were implemented. Naturally, the physical casinos in her city were far- it will take roughly 1-2 hours for a person to reach the nearest casino.

Fast forward, the grandmother of my girlfriend loves to gamble. During her free time, he would use her pension funds and allocate it to fund her gambling addiction. From time-to-time, her grandmother would win money and would treat everyone. But there were also some times where she would lose and ask money from my girlfriend.

One day, I went to their place and showed some videos online where you can download an application on your phone and gamble online. Long story short, I convinced her grandmother to gamble online using our famous local payment application (GCash). At the end, it is more convenient for her to gamble online but this addiction has became notoriously rampant in the past few weeks since I introduced it to her.
335  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Selling a property to play gamble on: February 07, 2024, 11:09:32 PM
No matter how deep you are in gambling never you sell a property because you will surely regret it when it doesn't work the way you expected.

Have you ever sold a property to play gamble and afterwards finds it difficult to replace that same property again?

I have no personal experience to this but I was a witness when I saw my uncle destroyed his life in gambling when I was in high school.

This started a few years back when my uncle was living his life- he had his own car, a very beautiful girlfriend, and a supportive grandparents who took care of him ever since he was a kid. Well, you can say that he is somehow of a spoiled brat as he was also suffering from ADHD. Unfortunately, there was an incident that happened in his workplace (he was HR) that led the management to terminate his job and position at his workplace.

This is where the downfall started- he lost his job, his girlfriend, and he also did drugs and gambling at the same time. During some random nights, I can hear my grandmother crying since she said that my uncle sold his designer bags in order to fund his drug and gambling addiction at the same time.

To cut the long story short, it has been more than 10+ years and my uncle, in this very same day, is still suffering from these addiction. His life is somehow ruined given the fact that he cannot sustain himself anymore as he has no job. Our family tried to help him but he was eaten by these addictions to the point that he kept on sharing gambling posts and theories with everyone.
336  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich or poor gambler, who should risk more? on: February 07, 2024, 03:52:53 PM
So, I am confused after asking myself this question and answering it, does this mean a poor gambler should continue to play it safe in gambling? With no risk, how can a poor gambler change their fortune in gambling?

Regardless if a player is poor or not, it is heavily recommended that both players with different statuses know when to stop gambling for their own benefit.

Basing it on statistics alone, the house will always win due to the presence of house-edge on the gambling platform. If a poor gambler knows how to control their emotions by not over spending during his time, then this may prevent him from losing further and this will also give him an opportunity to maximize his winnings.

This same principle mentioned above can be applied to a rich gambler. The only difference is that the latter has more resources to try and to allocate a certain budget in funding their gambling activities.
337  Other / Off-topic / Re: Having a regular/steady income is important as a gambler. on: February 03, 2024, 06:00:03 PM
Having a steady and regular income is very important as a gambler because it would enable you to scrap out money you should use for gambling, feeding, taking care of yourself and family and other miscellaneous.

As we all know, gambling is an expensive hobby. Not only is it expensive but it is also addictive given the risks that are involved with the prizes that one can potentially win.

Knowing that gambling is an expensive hobby, it is but natural to think that a person must obviously have a steady income stream in order to fund this kind of entertainment. If he/she does not have the luxury of having a steady stream of income, then this will be a money-losing venture given the risks that are involved.

Having a regular income is good for everyone but for a gambler, it tends to even draw them more closer and become addicted because since the income is coming at regular intervals, the gambler would feel he can actually win on several attempts thereby he can even spend most of his money in gambling with the hope that he would still receive another income within a short while and since he is very sure of his income he might gamble carelessly with the mindset that after all his income will surely come. So even while having a steady source of income, a gambler needs to learn how to manage his funds and not allow his gambling to take the most part of his life then only can he be at peace and play in a responsible manner.

It does tend to draw the gambler closer but what is important here is the perspective of the person when he/she gambles.

If that person views gambling as a source of entertainment, then he/she can prevent any addiction from arising. But if that person views gambling as a money-making venture, as in the case of people who do not have a steady stream of income, then this hobby can be very destructive to say the least.
338  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To what extent have you hated yourself due to your gambling losses? on: February 03, 2024, 04:43:56 PM
So, let's share our worst gambling experiences, have you ever hated yourself so much due to lack of winnings in gambling? To what extent, and how did it end?

Do you still hate yourself even now?  Grin

Lets discuss.

Oh yes definitely!

This happened recently wherein I had to gamble $400 because I was rationalizing with myself that I am too deep now and I have committed so much money that everything would be a waste if I did not win a single round. Unfortunately, the night ended with me losing much more money and I was never able to recover the money that I have betted on.

The problem with gambling stems from that hope that you are chasing- such hope that you MIGHT win in order to recover your losses. But that hope is a dangerous landfall that can snowball quickly especially if you are afraid of accepting that you just lost a handful amount of money.

With that experience, it made me thing that I never want to experience battling the odds. If today is just not my day, maybe gambling is not really for me.
339  Economy / Economics / Re: Why does a country borrow money from the world bank even when they can afford it on: February 03, 2024, 03:45:03 PM
Question: Why does the independent, developed and  productive countries still borrows money from the World Bank even when they have enough to execute their excused reasons given why they have to borrows the money?
I am interested about this because in my country, we are independent and a productive country with revenues ought to be contented enough to execute the projects in demands of what they still borrows from the World Bank for and yet there is no economical improvements in the country instead we are running economical backwards.

I think this has something to do with the current state of the country that borrows in the World Bank.

For example, if a third-world country is struggling with their finances, they can borrow money from the World Bank in which the latter offers zero to low interest rates. Additionally, borrowing from the World Bank can also be an opportunity in the country if the details of the loan are generous.

For example, a poor country may be offered by the World Bank zero to little interest rates which can be payable for the years to come. This does not only help that poor country but it also gives them the opportunity to create various infrastructures that will benefit them long-term.

To answer your question, I guess if the World Bank offers no interest rates on their loans, that can be quite an attractive offer. Even if a specific country has a positive revenue, it does not hurt to ask for a little more cash, right?
340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a generous gamblers on: February 03, 2024, 03:21:37 PM
If there is something that I can definitely associate myself with, it is that I share my winnings with my family.

Like my brother, I consider money won from gambling as "dirty money." This means that I have to spend my winnings as quickly as possible or at least allocate them to a certain activity to prevent any temptation in gambling again.

In the past, the money that I have won from gambling would be share among my siblings. I frequently surprise them by buying food or by asking them if they need anything. Also, some of the portions of my winnings were allocated to certain purchases for my school (e.g. books, materials, etc.) in order to supply myself with all the necessary things and to also help my father alleviate the expenses.
