541  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin7 hacked: how this influences Bitcoin once again? on: October 06, 2011, 04:09:12 PM
Do we know the addresses they had in those wallets? Can we track what happens to the money after the attack?

If I am wrong, we could have more people around to solve the problem better, people who could grow into being great leaders, scientists, doctors etc.  If you are wrong then you have the blood of millions on your hands.

Here is a list of famous and influential people that could have suffered the murder of abortion had they been born today:
http://www.adoptionopen.com/famousadoptions.html

Some key extracts:
Alexander The Great (not like he didn't have a significant influence on the world as we know it today)
Aristotle (Meaningless right?)
Charles Dickens (Ever read his books or seen any other theater based on it?)
Edgar Allen Poe (Only produced trivial literature right?)
Eleanor Roosevelt (She was just a wife to a very influential leader so probably meaningless?)
George Washington Carver (Agriculturally insignificant contributions)
Mark Twain (Literary non-sense right?)
Nancy Reagan (Another wife of an influential leader so she probably didn't do much right?)
Nat King Cole (Musical invalid eh?)
President Gerald Ford - (No impact here...)
President Gerald R. Ford - (Or here...)
President William Clinton - (And certainly no impact here)
Steve Jobs (What the f-bomb did this guy do?)

And there are plenty more examples I could find with minimal research....
Those fetuses could just as well grow up to be someone that contributed extremely negatively to humanity; the number of real life supervillains we might have escaped from because they've died before being born is just about incalculable.

Is the original only avaiable as PDF and converted from PDF but not directly in any other format? (so to not add artifacts from the conversion from PDF)
544  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: bitcoin7.com is really hacked? on: October 06, 2011, 11:55:32 AM
I mean, why sites handling people's 'coins remain vulnerable after many others before showed the need for an increased effort towards security?

Why does this keep happening? Sad

If you really know what you're talking about you don't need to build it, you can describe the process in details and others can check if it makes sense.

550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What speed are your getting CPU mining TENEBRIX? on: October 06, 2011, 06:30:56 AM
i'm getting around between 0.9 and 1.2 per thread, x 8 cores (quadcore with hyperthreading)
551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tenebrix, a CPU-friendly, GPU-hostile cryptocurrency on: October 06, 2011, 05:30:06 AM
I'm getting all those lines saying i'm doing a few khash a sec per thread scrolling by, but how do i know if when i eventually crack a block things are set correctly to get me paid?

Btw, where can i find a calculator to show how long till i have 25%, 50% and 100% chance of having found a block (or somthing like that)?
552  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Abortion on: October 06, 2011, 04:29:26 AM
Btw, i would think linking to https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Godwin%27s_law would be more appropriated than ad Hitlerum; however neither of those articles specify that there can never be a valid continuation after Hitler, or some standin for him, is mentioned; we can go on, i will, but if you don't wanna you're free to leave.
553  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Abortion on: October 06, 2011, 04:24:25 AM
It's only over when we say so, rules are meant to be broken.

No,  sorry, it's over

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reductio_ad_Hitlerum

Any time someone brings in Hitler, it means the debate has come to it's natural conclusion. There is now nothing more left to discuss. This thread is dead now, and it's all your fault.
If it was its natural conclusion why would it be my fault?

Like i said, it will only be over if people don't wanna go any further; regardless of the mention of any infamous figures.

If you knew with 100% sure a kid was gonna grow up to be the next Hitler, would you murder that kid?
556  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I need help tranlating Satoshi's design paper into as many languages as possible on: October 06, 2011, 03:51:04 AM
I gotta wake up early tomorrow so i won't be restarting the translation just yet (kinda spend the night awake when i first tried), i'll be coming back in the next few days though
557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I need help tranlating Satoshi's design paper into as many languages as possible on: October 06, 2011, 03:05:31 AM
People that had already done almost half of the job are gonna be upset with things getting reset :/
558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I need help tranlating Satoshi's design paper into as many languages as possible on: October 05, 2011, 10:07:36 AM
The site slowed down a lot for me too a few minutes ago, seems to be working fast again now though.
559  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I need help tranlating Satoshi's design paper into as many languages as possible on: October 05, 2011, 09:44:37 AM
...

Anyway, I'm not sure I like this kind of collaborative platform for this sort of translation. When I was going to resume the translation today I found that somebody else has continued translating a few lines. While this could be good in terms of completing the translation quickly, it also means that there may be an inconsistency in style and even choices for the translation of technical terms in different parts of the document. I've decided to offer my own suggestions for some of those lines, but that means that there are now multiple suggestions for several lines. I'm not sure how a unified translation is eventually produced under this system. It seems a bit awkward and complicated to use.
I would expect that once the translation itself is done, there would still be the need for revision in order to address such inconsistencies in writing style etc.

It would've been better if it was organized in terms of paragraphs and sentences instead of lines.
