6101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: [NEWS] Binance Shanghai Office Reportedly Shut Down after Local Police Raid on: November 25, 2019, 03:11:11 AM
@estenity. It might be connected to Chinese regulators' visits to Binance's offices. Binance might have decided to leave and chosen to continue listing any cryptocoin they want than stay under the control of China.

If not fud, I reckon any exchange left in China will die because of regulatory strangulation.
6102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] Gatehub was hacked again on: November 24, 2019, 01:42:27 AM
@Furryball. DEX are good for small buyers and sellers, however, for big traders, no. The prices they get are very bad compared to centralized exchanges.
6103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: [NEWS] Binance Shanghai Office Reportedly Shut Down after Local Police Raid on: November 24, 2019, 01:25:57 AM
After reading at the cointelegraph Binance denied the news and so did a large Korean exchange Bithumb

bithumb quashes shanghai office closure rumors after binance denial.

I think why Bithumb spoke up on this rumors because they thought rumors like this could have an impact on their service.
Of course, any rumors would have significant impact into their service.I thought this news was true about the raid up and thanks for sharing up yet i wasnt expecting that it turns out to be a false news instead. It did really affect he market as we all know that even how simple it is but if it do connects on big exchange or players of this market would really have high chances of negative effects.

It not too obvious that they do really try make the price down. Cheesy
Erff, I'm about to believe about this news and thinking this could be the reason of sudden dump but it seems many got alarmed more than those who hold.

Okay, so what's up with this fake news? Why they spread this to think people could still find out that it's just a fake. They just messing their selves, really.

It was not fake news. It was another example of bitcoin journalists creating clickbait titles and sensationalized  stories to attract more readers. The Block have retracted the word raid from the title and have updated their article.

Also, Block was not wrong about Binance and their offices in Shanghai that were visited by the authorities. Yes they had 2 offices. However, the damage is done.

6104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Grin Observer - GRN/BTC - Price Movement and Discussion on: November 23, 2019, 03:45:10 AM
waiting for $0.50 hehehe.

Waiting for $0.50, that might never really happen.  Maybe better take few prices and buy part of it then. Like 1/3 at $1, 1/3 at $0.5 and 1/3 at $0.25.

I did not try to argue with this because the pump made it appear that you might be right. We always forget the certain dump, however. $0.50 is back on the schedule for December hehehe.
6105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2019-2020 betting on: November 23, 2019, 03:27:49 AM
@Viscore. Save your bets for the good games tomorrow hehehe. Playoff teams, Rockets versus the Clippers and the Nuggets versus the Celtics.
Good idea since celtics lost in ot to the clippers so they will be seeking revenge and the rockets will be needing to upset with only scoring 95 against the nuggets.
The games last night were predictable anyone having bucks with the over and pelicans mopping up with the fading suns. Cool

Celtics also lost versus the Clippers on overtime and on the road. They might be tired and lose their next game versus another strong team.

My bets are on all -4.5 on the Heat, the Nuggets, the Lakers and the Clippers hehe.
6106  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2019-11-21 CNBC - Why Bitcoin Fund’s SEC filing may be a big crypto breakthrough on: November 23, 2019, 12:48:28 AM
Ugh.  It's going to be rejected.  Calling it now.

and what it means for investors wanting to get involved in digital assets.

It means nothing other than more baseless hype.  It's not "needed", but some people like to think it is, because they believe it will raise prices.  Institutional investors have enough markets to fraudulently manipulate, they don't need another one.

Agreed. I am also skeptical. Also, anything out of CNBC appears to be more for promotional purposes than for anything else. I remember Brian Kelly teaching everyone how to buy XRP on Poloniex for more than $1.00 each before it was dumped hehehe.
6107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [NEWS] Ripple Co-founder Chris Larsen responds to scathing report on: November 23, 2019, 12:18:39 AM
There might be inaccuracies in Messari's report, however, that does not remove the real agenda behind setting up a foundation. Tax savings on estate, income tax savings, capital gains tax savings. Also, the assets in the foundation are under Chris Larsen's control.

Wealthy people have been doing this scheme to avoid taxes for many years. Chris Larsen should keep quiet.

A recent report published by Messari claimed that Ripple is using its affiliated charity foundations as a shelter for corporate and executive taxes. The report itself cited an Elliptic report which tied XRP to illicit activity worth $400 million. Messari added that Ripple is obfuscating the fact that the 2.2 billion XRP it counts as circulating supply are currently locked in long-term restricted selling agreements. It said,

“According to the Foundation’s (public) Form 990, during its fiscal year 2018 (year ended April 30, 2018), the Ripple Foundation for Financial Innovation (nee RippleWorks), the entity affiliated with Ripple and its co-founder Chris Larsen, granted exactly $0 to other charities out of a staggering $1.2 billion AUM.”

Chris Larsen, Co-founder and Executive Chairman at Ripple, was quick to respond to the report, with Larsen claiming that the Messari report contained inaccuracies, adding that RippleWorks had donated over $25 million to support incredible social ventures. Alongside a link to RippleWorks’ portfolio, Larsen said,

“Doug Galen and I first set up RippleWorks to be an operating foundation, meaning we supported charitable work with our projects program vs. giving money.”

6109  Economy / Speculation / Re: Peter Schiff speculation, bitcoin will never hit $50k on: November 22, 2019, 03:57:05 AM
Peter Schiff is feasting on bitcoin's dump down to $7600 similar to a forum cave troll hehe. In any case, it is fine to be a bitcoin bear, however, Peter Schiff should try to be credible about it. Dumping to $1000 might be the death dump for miners. This is impossible, I reckon.

GOLD BUG SCHIFF CLINGS TO $2,000-$1,000 PREDICTION

Peter Schiff, gold bug and traditional investor advisor, sees an ominous picture in the current slide. Without a relief rally closer to $9,000, bitcoin may continue downward to as low as $1,000, based on Schiff’s most pessimistic prediction.

@PeterSchiff
#Bitcoin is nearing the neckline of the head-and-shoulders top I pointed out before the Oct 25th 40% pump. The right shoulder is now shrugged and the neckline slanted and parallel to the shoulders. If it breaks the price objective for the dump is $1,000 to complete the pattern.

6110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / [NEWS] Binance Shanghai Office Reportedly Shut Down after Local Police Raid on: November 22, 2019, 02:20:35 AM
How many other exchanges are presently trading cryptocoins in China? Withdraw your coins to your wallets. I speculate that if this is true, Binance's raid might be the real beginning of China's inquisition on the cryptospace.

image from newlogical.com

Recent reports currently suggest that one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, Binance, has had its Shanghai office shutdown causing its many staff members to either work remotely or even completely abandon China and move to Singapore. According to sources familiar with the matter as cited by The Block, there is currently no fully functioning Binance Shanghai anymore.

The cited sources have also added that the office was recently raided by police in the area, for unknown reasons. As such, the office which used to have some of Binance’s most senior management staff, no longer houses them. Today, more than 100 employees who used to work out of Shanghai have now been scattered. It is also said that Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao as well as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Yi He, have both moved to Singapore already.

The Block has noted that a Binance spokesperson rebuffed news about the raid, stating there is really no China office:

“We don’t have entities in China, most of us work remotely in China.”

Regardless, the spokesperson’s comments seem to run against the existence of certain pictures of a Chinese office that has been seen by The Block, with staff members actually working.
If the incident is true, an interesting tweet from CZ about a month ago may have suggested something like this might happen. CZ tweeted that offices are “old concepts”, probably meaning that Binance might also fall in line.

@vella85. I will take the same bet on the Colts, +2.5 1st half hehe. I read an article that the Houston Texans have not won versus the Colts in 5 years. If they might win today, they might not cover the spread on the 1st half.
6113  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-11-18] Russian Intelligence FSB Linked to $450 Million in Missing Bitcoin on: November 21, 2019, 02:30:01 AM
I will not go into any conspiracy theories (at least not too much), but it seems to me that there is much more to this story than can be read publicly. If the FSB got involved in everything, then there was a good reason. Did they just decide to be good guys and stop some illegal activity, or they didn't give FSB their share of the cake? I only wonder how the BBC got the audio recordings on which they base this story, again the clumsy job of Russian secret agents?

The FSB might also be the exchange's main liquidity provider by sending their dirty money to the exchange for laundering.

I speculate that when WEX have begun having problems on their cashflow or maybe the FSB knew that WEX will be shutdown by regulators, the FSB ordered their money out including everyone's money.
6114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: November 21, 2019, 01:57:27 AM
Rumble Johnson is in the news. We might have a new heavyweight champion on December 2020 if he wins his opening fight for his return in the UFC hehe.

I speculate that his return fight might be versus Francis Ngannou.

Anthony “Rumble” Johnson has a plan for his return to the Octagon, and it’s short and sweet.

Johnson has expressed interest in returning to the UFC. Back in 2017, Johnson announced his retirement following a second loss to then-UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. “Rumble” is now shooting for a spring return in the heavyweight division, although now it could be pushed back to summer.

Having a plan of action is rarely viewed as a negative thing but when it’s as terrifying as Johnson’s, many of his potential opponents may choose to take a powder. Speaking to The Mac Life, “Rumble” made it clear that he’s looking to rearrange some faces (via MMAFighting.com).

“We have to meet with the UFC some more,” Rumble said. “We have to go over things and just figure some stuff out but it’s all looking good so far. Nothing bad. I don’t want to put my foot in my mouth and say too much but everything’s looking good right now. I’m not worried.

“I was trying to shoot for April/May but maybe June/July. We’ll see. But whenever I come back I’m going to make sure it’s known. I want to come back and showcase everything and fight and just hurt people.”

@wheelz1200. I like the 49'ers -3. I am gambling, this is versus Greenbay hehehe.

I also like Seattle +2.5, because Russ Wilson, everyone's MVP, is playing good and also the Ravens -3.5, but because Lamar Jackson, my MVP, is playing better hehe.
6116  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2019-2020 betting on: November 21, 2019, 01:00:42 AM
Kawhi and Paul George will be available for the Clippers. Can they beat the spread -7 versus Boston, however? I reckon it might be a very close fight between the 2.

My confirmed bets are the Nets -2 1st half, Rockets 1st half moneyline and Raptors -4 full game.
6117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Grin Observer - GRN/BTC - Price Movement and Discussion on: November 20, 2019, 04:06:45 AM
@suchmoon. Also, Zcash and Monero were mentioned and compared as better for privacy. Which is true, however, this exposes his bias and what he might be holding hehehe. No one from the Grin development team claimed better privacy.

Also, writing it after a 2011 miner donated 50 bitcoins from a coinbase transaction hehe.
6118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [NEWS] Gatehub was hacked again on: November 20, 2019, 03:31:40 AM
This is a warning for XRP holders. You should stop using Gatehub. They were already hacked months before with almost $10 million stolen. The people behind this are clearly very incompetent.

However, the skeptical me would think that there was more that occured behind this hack hehehe.

Password data and other personal information belonging to as many as 2.2 million users of two websites—one a cryptocurrency wallet service and the other a gaming bot provider—have been posted online, according to Troy Hunt, the security researcher behind the Have I Been Pwned breach notification service.

One haul includes personal information for as many as 1.4 million accounts from the GateHub cryptocurrency wallet service. The other contains data for about 800,000 accounts on RuneScape bot provider EpicBot. The databases include registered email addresses and passwords that were cryptographically hashed with bcrypt, a function that's among the hardest to crack.

The person posting the 3.72GB Gatehub database said it also includes two-factor authentication keys, mnemonic phrases, and wallet hashes, although GateHub officials said an investigation suggested wallet hashes were not accessed.

6119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2019-09-27: Upgrade to version 0.13.0.0 ASAP HF@1146200 Oct 25] on: November 20, 2019, 02:55:21 AM
@bigslimvdub. Where is the new negative sentiment coming from? Aeon has always been a small project and will always be a small project. What were you expecting?

I don't recall mentioning "new" negative sentiment. It's pretty much been the same deal for a long time now (pre rebase debacle).

Small project yes, but how can this project "be a replacement for bitcoin" while being a small project this late in the game? Nobody has explained how it could even be possible that such a small project that has been around 5 years, a market rank of #300+, 80%+ emissions, and about 10 active social community contributors overtake the top cap cryptocurrency in the world?
You can't do this by just being easy to run a node for the next 20 years. Not saying it is not possible but its literally like climbing Mt. Everest with shorts and flip flops.

I'm also a little surprised the net hash for Monero has been pretty stable since the last hardfork, about 300Mh or so. Interesting that they are moving to randomX pow with this stable network hash rate. Either Asic devs held off and went all-in on RandomX design or they just gave up on Monero for now.

I did not receive this mission statement for Aeon to be a replacement for bitcoin. Who gave it to you?

In any case, I am here because I like Aeon as my hobby and because I reckon it is a neat project without corrupted individuals.

Just a heads up guys, it is not a good Idea to be Holding right now.

Grin still affords a stronger privacy model than Bitcoin or other non-privacy coins, since amounts are safely encrypted. But Mimblewimble provides a strictly weaker privacy model than Zcash or Monero. This makes it insufficient for many real-world privacy use cases.

This is not FUD, just a heads up. I'm sure the Devs will address the issue if its possible.

Thanks to cAPSlOcK for pointing this out.
