641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to mine? please help on: March 23, 2016, 06:58:43 AM
Hi guys i just came here back and i want to know how to mine using my laptop
Here's the specs of my laptop:
Os: window7
Processor: Interl core 2 duo 2.4 ghz (2cpu)
Memory: 4gb
GPU display: mobile intel 4 series Express chipset Family with approximately: 1324mb

I hope someone can help how to mine using those specs even a crypto or altcoin i just want to mine in a profitable way...

You dont have a discrete GPU, you can't mine with that. A notebook is pretty much the worse thing you can try to mine with, after your cellphone/tablet. Get a USB ASIC if you really must, it would be much better than what you want to attempt.
642  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Never mind before. Newb Questions ahead on: March 23, 2016, 04:22:16 AM
Dont discount mining algorithms like neoscrypt and x11.  profits are way up right now.  Im doing a multi-algo mining on zpool.ca

you need ccminer, get the latest from fork of ccminer from tpruvot.  Set up a multi-algo script, instructions are on zpool.ca  and mine away!  Im mining with autoconvert to PEPE and making good profits right now.

You're making 7USD per card per day on x11 and neoscrypt?

The temperature sensor is not the ASIC chips, if the temp sensor is at 100C then your ASIC chips can be around 150C and most of your other components like capacitors and resistors, its strains all compontents and they will fail prematurely.

I really don't understand why you would run them at 100C and assume its perfectly ok.

I don't/haven't ran them at 100C continuously. Again, this was a brief test to prove they hash and at what speeds.

I just moved the units to ensure clear air flow and have the air conditioner on. In 40 minutes or so I'll take another temperature reading (along with hash rate).

The problem is you shown me you'd even let this go for even 1 sec. You say these hash fine, they dont really, you have HW at stock Freq and your hashrate is very low. This shows you've not taken care properly of the unit or are using a bad PSU.

My PSUs are fine. If you aren't interested, please stay out of my thread. Thank you.

I think you did not understand me. EITHER you have bad PSU or you ran the S5 too hot and they lost a significant portion of their hashrate.
Since you supposedly have fine PSU, it mean that your 10% hashrate lost is due to the improper way you've been running the S5s.

Good, i guess i can stay, then. I'm interested in cheap S5's. I think they're still a bit too high however, considering their clear damaged states. (10% hashrate loss at stock setting + HW)

If you care, Allinvain is selling fully functional and unabused S5's for probably 100$ea now (His asking price is 120$) or maybe even cheaper in bulk. His thread is just next to your's.
644  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Mar 18 to Mar 31? picks are open.... prize = 0.1 btc on: March 23, 2016, 03:18:47 AM
+4.2 = VirosaGITS     I will tell you why not the pick is tooo high!! Grin Grin

If its too high, i will be plenty happy. If i win i'd keep the prize, but i'm totally okay with taking a pick that has very little chance of winning. Smiley As long as its not higher than that, i'm going to be pretty Okay with the result.
645  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS][From CANADA] One Antminer S7 on: March 23, 2016, 03:15:08 AM
I'm not complaining. I couldn't care about prices hi or low because I don't get involved in price policing and I have no interest in a S7. It was a reference to the post about me when I had the S3 up

Oh. I see. You were the guy that threw a fit because i pointed out you could get S7 for basically the same hash price? I dont takes things personally, so i would not remember whom i replied whatever to.

I think i used actual, factual Math and based it on the current(at the time) BTC price, however. I might be wrong, but i'm pretty sure i used sound arguments. Maybe you're unable to tell the difference? Honestly i don't get people that throw fits online because someone do not agree with them. And then proceed an attempt at some kind of... revenge?

Anyhow, no you're totally welcome to say whatever you want here, i'm not going to explode. I dont see a problem here.

Hey guys. i just recently heard about bit coin and alt coins and have been reading like crazy.
I would like to mine with my GPU. I have this set up.

I have a 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 graphics card and a Intel Core i5 4690 @ 3.50GHz
with 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz

I'm not looking to get rich, just mess around. Is there a ELI5 to get going with that video card ?
I think I need ccminer but really have no clue.. thanks !!

Yeah come by IRC if you want answers to your questions. I mean its all Ethereum right now, so all the stuff you need relate to that. There's a calculator etc in my Sig and on IRC you can get live replies to your questions.
649  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS][From CANADA] One Antminer S7 on: March 23, 2016, 12:11:29 AM
Surprised you are selling this already?

Did you run out of electricity to plug it in?

Yeah and i'm moving, so i'll simplify things by selling the current gen or noisy stuff.
650  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethOS - Ethereum Mining Platform on: March 22, 2016, 09:46:32 PM
hi, is it normal taht the system doesnt boot to the Ubuntu desktop? I see every time when im pluged to the internet it stucks at ACPI -OK or Restoring resolver State...

When I restart it's starting to the desktop...

And the hashrate is 10-15 mh on the r7 370? the local.conf maybe wrong setted?

Get help:http://paste.ethosdistro.com/abisosomev

o i get this here now:

Core seem a bit high, but its working. If you want Tech support, come by IRC, i'm pretty sure someone that can help you, can get to you much faster there.
651  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS][From CANADA] One Antminer S7 on: March 22, 2016, 09:40:37 PM
Its a B9 that seem to consume 50Watts less than what my B8 did, 1375w~ vs 1425w~.
I'll double check if it matters to you.

Willing to sell at Bitmain price, get yourself a unit quick, that's been running perfectly, but not for long and save yourself import duty.
I don't mind shipping internationally from Québec, Gatineau, J8T as well.
652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethOS - Ethereum Mining Platform on: March 22, 2016, 11:47:24 AM
is it Sapphire R9 NANO 4GB HBM Memory 4096Bit AMD Radeon DX12 better gpu card for ethosdistro ? is it supported ?

Afaik it works just fine on Ethminer, so it really should be. Its a very nice efficient little card, albeit not cost effective. It's honestly not a card we see often, however. You could drop by IRC and ask around.
653  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Powered PCIE Riser cables. on: March 22, 2016, 07:54:44 AM
What is a good store to buy powered 1x to 16x or 16x to 16x  PCIE risers from. It appears to be hit or miss when ordering them.

You can find them at the shop on my sig, if you're in the US. IF you're in Canada, there is Bitcoinware but he is a trash company. If you have time, order them yourself from China. Otherwise if you're really desperate you can get them quick at 400% markup from Amazon.

Better get them @ Amazon.

Cheaper, ships worldwide without a hassle (and fast!)

I would not call 10$+ instead of 3$ cheap, but it is without the shadow of a doubt, much much faster. Amazon if you're in a pinch for sure.
654  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Underclocking Antminer S7 on: March 22, 2016, 03:36:15 AM
it's worse than that, it's floating between .20 to .30usd...

I run an s5 for fun but the s7 would cost me 250usd a month to run (in loss)

I guess I have to wait for he BF chips, if they ever make it to the open market

I'm going to simplify your concerns. You can't make it cost effective. The end.

You could try using a PSU that would feed undervolted wattage. Underclocking would not increase efficiency. Undervolting would, but there's not much information at all on how low we're able to bring the S7 down to.

Even if you could do it nicely, it would not be cost effective for the hash AND even if you brought down the S7 magically to .2, you would still not be able to profit.

Your only hope to profit would be hosted solution at 0.05$/kWh or less, right now with the poor profitability of S7s.

656  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [35 PH] ** 5x AVALON6 GIVEAWAY ** Kano CKPool (kano.is) [0.9% PPLNS] US,DE,SG on: March 21, 2016, 05:30:20 AM
i understand where thedreamer is coming from..
back last year.. when i was making .04-.05 a block, we would get those days where you would get 2, 3 or even 4 blocks a day and mine WHOLE weeks worth of bitcoin in one day.. it was a huge amount.
it seems now we are expecting those blocks just to break even..

but its not all the pool speed.. the difficulty has doubled since then. so if it wasnt for the increased pool speed we would be worse off.

But thats Just Variance. When we were at 1.X PH/s i remember a week where there would be no payout at all, then another with very low payout vs estimate. It's true we get smaller upswing now, but thats because we get smaller downswing as well.

If what you want is high variance, then with Kano having grown several time in % vs difficulty will indeed feel off.

I'm guess the small lottery effect feeling subsided now, and some people are missing the thrill. Not sure why some are getting personal over it, however.
657  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [35 PH] ** 5x AVALON6 GIVEAWAY ** Kano CKPool (kano.is) [0.9% PPLNS] US,DE,SG on: March 21, 2016, 02:29:54 AM
I agree with that above. We've had much better luck IMO when we were smaller than when we hit 30PH size. Payments are better and we don't 'need' 5-6+ blocks per day.

I'm sticking around but when I look at my Kano wallet declining for the past 2 weeks slowly. I B&M and worry but rather support this pool than other asian ones.

Do you realize luck for the past 3 months is about 110%? I'm tracking my income per week and its gone up vs expected, not down vs before. Or are you complaining that you're getting 5 payouts of let say 0.01BTC per day instead of 1 payout of 0.15BTC per 3 days?
658  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Installing bitcoin-qt on a flash drive on: March 21, 2016, 02:26:02 AM
Simply install qtbit on the usbs directory path. Then run it and wait for it to sink. Do you want it on your usb so you can run it where ever you want ?
Or to strengthen the blockchain.

Bullshit. The data directory is not the same as the install directory.

Hey, can you tell me how to install as i am also thinking of going for it in to install in flash drive, can you help me also in installing the blockchain in a flash drive.

Its going to be too slow. Install it to a USB 3.0 HDD/SSD if you really must have a portable copy of the blockchain, which make no sense at all, because you dont need the blockchain unless you want to run a node, which you can't do on a mobile setup.
659  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] NEWWWW PRICE DROP Spondoolies SP10 - Canada - Ship anywhere on: March 21, 2016, 02:24:31 AM
Does the price include shipping to J8T ? Tongue
Whats the noise dB level of the unit with the modded fan?
The stock PSU is in the unit and run at 100-260V?

I'd be inclined to sell my S7 and replace it with this if its a quiet-ish unit, funnily enough.

dB level I don't know. It's way less than original fans (which make a mega high-pitch supersonic turbojet crazy headbang-into-the-wall noise) but I don't really care about dB, all my miners fans are running almost full speed.

The PSU is internal and working on a 90-264V range. Currently 240V.

The shipping is at your expense, but if you're selling your S7, we can exchange miners + BTC from me and I pay shipping for both.

PM me your offer, then. Can you compare to noise level to S5 stock full speed?
