1361  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Jan 13 to Jan 27 picks are closed. on: January 15, 2016, 06:54:12 PM
While I remain convinced that BTC price will drive hashrate and hence difficulty, I always though it was more of a long-term trend kinda thing. The BTC price continues to slowly decline, at the same time difficulty increase also starts to moderate.

I don't expect we are actually in any danger of a difficulty decrease, just perhaps a smaller increase than recently.

BTC now down to $379.

Is this the result of the "ASIC Arms Race" that was re-ignited back in September?

Check the discussion boards, there are like 20 threads about it. Mike dude did some drama and being a Core member, it caught the media attention and the weak p2p rabble joined in the dump. Which cause people who actually hold BTC to sell now, so that they can buy it cheaper later.

It is probably going to affect Diff a little bit, too, but i don't think his manipulation attempts at BTC is going to go his way, we'll see.

Bump

Glad to see you've put some price up. I've made good progress now clearing out older gen miners, and the two server 1100w PSU's are planned to getting offlined early next week, so shipping them strait out is an option now.

Instead of the 1300w G2 and the 750w Seasonic, how about you send me the EVGA 1600W Titanium Power Supply for the 2 PSU + 100 USD? Assuming you are still interested in them even though you bought a bunch from Quakefiend, that is.
1363  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 3x Antminer s5 w/o psu on: January 15, 2016, 06:41:53 PM
I might be interested in a single unit, more than 3 as we discussed previously in PM's. If one of the interested "single unit buyers" back out, let me know.

Any takers at 1.75 + shipping via canada post/usps.
Would like to close sale by Friday. They've been in boxes for a month depreciating in value. Don't want to wait another month.

Can you just sell me one? I am in Western Canada so shipping should be cheap. What's the best price you can do.

me to I'm considering one...PM sent

Huh oh, you might get some wife problem then Tongue Apparently the Avalons 6 can run pretty quiet (Or avalon 4.1 at the S5 efficiency range). Might be something worth checking out.
1364  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Replacing the Fan on an S5 on: January 15, 2016, 06:38:35 PM
Thanks for the info about ordering fans.  I'm attempting to quiet the miner to make it more "wife friendly"  Smiley

You picked a miner that is not great on that sadly.  The S5 runs hot and loud.  You chances are can find a way to make it quieter, but I think it would take a lot to make it quiet.

With winter you might be able to use some cold from it to help allow less RPM's.   But kinda a short term fix on that.

The only way to do that is putting it somewhere she can't hear it. Possibly building a soundproof enclosure for it would work. You would need accoustic panels and make a box out of it that still allow air to move through freely, but not noise.
1365  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [ALL SOLD] 1100w Platinum (94%) server PSUs/breakout boards w/cables on: January 15, 2016, 06:29:15 PM
quakefiend420 i've done silly things and burnt the cables breakout board side, so i need to cut them (the burnt/oxidized cable part) and recrimp because the burnt/oxidized part is heating up to 54c now~ so not critical but need to be changed asap.

Do you know exactly what gauge of o ring i would need to buy online to recrimp them? Thanks.

I actually have some of the same terminals that I could send you, how many do you need?

Its two per cable and i got most of the one you sent me damaged (total of 12), so quite a bit. I was hoping to buy some cheap bulk online.

 Shocked

What did you do to them??? How were they damaged?

I've used jury rigged cables for a while because i'm lazy. I redid a crimp only using plyers and a hammer and a flathead screwdriver, before i got the tool to do proper crimp. And since they were working well, i just forgot about it.

But eventually it loosened and slowly got hotter and i only noticed when the yellow wires started darkening. So now i'm getting a set of o ring terminal to do the job right once and for all, at the lost of a couple of inch of wiring.
1366  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase screws up on: January 15, 2016, 06:16:11 PM
Why have you had a very high view of Coinbase? Their reputation is well-known and is not better than the reputation of the lowest bankster.

Maybe because i've had absolutely no problem sending BTC<->CAD back and forth with my bank account at a stellar speed (less than one day and instant) transactions, its always fast, exact and there is a flat fee of 1CAD. And that for months now.

Maybe the US department is lacking but in Canada, i've had zero problems, yet.
1367  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Antminer S5, 1155 Gh, Original Packaging, Free Shipping, Warranty on: January 15, 2016, 06:12:04 PM
I still don't understand why older and less efficient gear costs just about as much as newer more efficient gear per terahash.

Supply and Demand

They've been grabbable for 200$ or even less in bulk, 100$ is pretty much a low ball but its really heading there, because the diff raise is not stopping so far.
1368  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: January 15, 2016, 06:09:57 PM
all payment received now, thanks

I was missing 236+~ paid posts, i received an additional payout of 150 posts, so now only 86 posts would remain unpaid. Much better than 236 posts unpaid. Thanks.

You can prune the donation one for now, i'm not sure when/if i will replug a S1 for donation. Some miners may have old failover on it. Just don't track them, consider it a real untracked donation or such?
1371  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 3x Antminer s5 w/o psu on: January 14, 2016, 03:43:24 PM
2.0btc and remember shipping is included in that price. Probably $75-80 to ship three units. That's about $250/unit after I pay shipping.

Well that sound more reasonable honestly, but its still too high for me, so i'll just leave you be. Smiley

Your end price is still more expensive than buying a brand new B8 in $/GHs. So i'll just save up 200$ more and get a S7.
1372  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: IBM 4KW PSU (Dual DPS-2000BB) Breakout Boards and Packages!!! on: January 14, 2016, 02:30:31 PM
Not sure Kilo,  when I was testing via the EVGA which connects the S7 to my 120V outlet to my Wemo Insight, it was showing pulling 1540W at the wall.  I would assume the EVGA G2 1300W efficiency rating is similar to the IBM PSU or worst as the 2KW PSU is not Platinum.    So if I use 1540 x 90% which I doubt the IBM PSU is that efficient = 1386W x 3 =4158W.  Seems overloaded to me but I don't have any tools to measure wattage for my 240V line.

Also I think your math above may be off by 1 digit perhaps typo or close key, but 1290W at 93% efficiency from Bitmain info x 3 S7 is 3870W.  These PSU are no where near 93% and even if they can get 90% they're at 100% load.  I think people are saying these are somewhere in the high 80s range efficiency right?  That would make it way over.  I'm running them now and the garage is plenty cold so it's not an issue right now, but concern when spring / summer hits.

That is odd, i ran my S7 B8 on two EVGA gold efficiency and i was getting 1440W, i dont think a 1% efficiency edge could possibly account for the difference. And with P2 PSU, i get 1415 at the wall with fan at 3400RPM.
1373  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to send Bitcoin to a credit card on: January 14, 2016, 02:28:36 PM
Is there a way to send Bitcoin to a credit card? Is it even possible?

I've looked in to it, not possible.
If you can get a routing number and the other information that PayPal needs, you can link it as a bank account and transfer btc to PayPal, then transfer to bank which is your card. Otherwise, you can buy a Bitcoin debit card and send funds to it via wallet. I recommend e-coin, although standard shipping is $17 and expedited shipping is like $50 but it works and is withdrawable via ATM.

Actually you can use a bill payment services to make a payment to your credit card using Bitcoin. In Canada, that is Bylls.com. But now its more cost effective to use Coinbase to send money to your bank account and then do a payment from there.
1374  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Replacing the Fan on an S5 on: January 14, 2016, 02:24:28 PM
I'm definitely plugging it into fan1. Maybe there is something wrong with my fan?

Maybe it does not return a fan speed signal? Can you plug it into another miner or device to see if its reporting properly? And if you replug the stock fan and it work, then its most likely the fan you're putting in.
1375  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS: a couple of our Avalon 6's on: January 14, 2016, 02:21:45 PM
Please post your price, I think you were firm at $1600 USD someone commented on these.

I offered the brand new price counting at phil's group buy price +100$ per(because they are domestically located for us) +shipping several time (he asked me to offer him my best price more than once) and i replied with the same offer, at which he did not ultimately give me a reply. (He just ignored me when i repeated this offer)

So i'm guessing he wants to sell them at the price he bought them, regardless of the market price for these.

actually, if you carefully check your emails, you sent me two emails in total, both of which were offers for the S7's that I have, not the Avalon's I've posted here. I simply wasn't interested in selling you my S7's for the price you offered so I never responded.  I'll simply run them for a little longer.

S

I offered you a price for the Avalon 6 too. In the second PM, the one you never replied to. I offered more than what it would cost to buy brand new, both A6 and S7. In the first PM i said i'd give an extra 100$ over the bitmain price $/gh. And that i valued the Avalon6 at 1050$ base price because of its 1.2th/s lower than S7.

Now at current price, my offer is even more than B8 buy now. Your reply to this was "its going to take a long time for you to receive the B8, so my S7's are worth more than your Bitmain +100$" so apparently, getting it 1-2 days later means more than a 100$ difference, when they would earn maybe 18$ in that time frame. Or less, since from China it takes 4 days.
1376  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 3x Antminer s5 w/o psu on: January 14, 2016, 12:13:20 PM
I had sent a pm to kilo asking for 1, but he never replied..

Who knows, maybe in 3 months you'll be able to buy 1.

He wanted to break it down as little as possible to minimize the overhead effort it would put on allinvain, since ultimately kilo wanted to reneged on his deal with him as little as possible. But no one took the deal within the 24 hours afaik, so he locked the thread and probably kept them. At that price i don't blame him, since at that price i was interested, so it was a very good price.

How much did you end up buying the other 2 units for?

The 2 units i bought from the other user comes down to 2070USD shipped at today's exchange rate. The BTC dropped a tiny bit since them, about 4%.
1378  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 3x Antminer s5 w/o psu on: January 14, 2016, 12:02:51 PM

250$ is not really a fair price, 4x250$ is what a S7 cost now and 4xS5 at stock is still less hashrate than the S7 and .5 efficiency instead of .3.

The only upside to buying at 250$ would be if the units are domestic, so you dont have to pay import taxes or such. Otherwise its a pretty bad buy at anything over 200$.

$190 USD? Are you sure about that. It said $240 USD AND you had to pay for hosting for 3 months.

I agree with you also that $250 USD is too much, I wouldn't buy it at that price either however since nobody is selling these the prices tend to be inflated.

Yes, that was after he reduced price, 24 hours before closing the offer. But you're right about the caveat, you had to pay like 30USD per month per unit for the hosting or something around that number. For 3 months as per kilo's previous arrangement with allinvain.

Which is either a pro or a con depending on who buy it. I was interested in buying 5, but the offer did not last long enough to setup some sort of group buy to split his S5's.
1379  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB][Canada]Antminer S7, Antminer S7 Coupon, Avalon6, EVGA PSU on: January 14, 2016, 11:46:25 AM
Time to revive my main buy thread;

I'm interested in buying;
Willing to pay the "ship now" Bitmain's GH/$

-Antminer S7
-Antminer S7 Coupon

-Avalon6

-High end GS/GQ/G2/P2/T2 EVGA PSU or equivalent top quality.

I am interested in international purchase
However if the units are already in Canada, i can pay a little more, since i will not have to pay for import.

If you have any of these, please reply here or PM an offer and i will respond depending on the current budget.

I've got both Ants S7's B8 and Avalon 6's... would consider selling a couple... Running close to 160TH and already melted one electrical panel Smiley  Before I burn our shop down, I might consider unloading some.

PM me if interested... Units are in Quebec / Ottawa... can deliver to TO & MTL.

Cheers.
S

Right now i am interested in picking up one unit, either one S7 or one A6, depending on batch/price etc. Feel free to PM me an offer @anyone.
