1461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does HD Wallets meaning ? on: January 09, 2016, 05:24:45 AM
No, I do understand that, the part I didn't understand is, does the recover of HD Account requires 3rd party verifications ?
Or they use a same standard across all HD wallets ? That means I could use my 12 words to recover on other HD Wallet Clients ?

HD has nothing to do with 3rd party, at all. So no. And no some HD wallet use different seed method, but that is outlined when you create or restore a wallet, it tells you which protocol it use.

So no, some wallet are compatible with some others, but this is a non-issue. You can simply restore the wallet with the original client, then move the funds to whatever wallet in the world you want.

If I'm not wrong, which is BIP38 and BIP44 ?
btw is there any chance someone could generate lots of possible words combination and trying them one by one, so they might be possible of stealing the money in our wallet ?

Yes, absolutely possible. Just like its absolutely possible to brute force the privkey with millions of BTC on it. But it might take a few millions years. You might be surprised with how many words combination there is. Also the one i use has 21 words i think so its a even more crazy amount of possibility.

But 12 words does feel a bit lackluster in comparision, i'll give you that. And i think Multibit HD is BIP32, but thats just on top of my head, either way it doesnt really matter.

Why the bot excluded some post that are not meant to be excluded? I checked my stats 7 hours ago with no excluded post since Im really not posting to those excluded section except here. This is my first post here in this thread this period. Im able to screenshot it. But now I checked my stats and to my surprise it does have excluded post now. I checked my last 10 post and I see no excluded section there.

And today is payment day. Hope no delay as the previous concern of mine has no response yet.

Thanks. Smiley

Gambling section maybe? BitcoinBoy said the excluded post thing was not counted in real time so maybe it ran through your posts and decided to exclude 10 posts from earlier posts.
1463  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Avalon6 3.65 TH/s miners for sale on: January 09, 2016, 05:14:14 AM

return it back to newegg

Newegg has replacement only policy with CPU, so no go there. They might make an exception if the box is still sealed, but that's clearly not the case here.
1466  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9 PH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: January 09, 2016, 04:45:51 AM
OK - something is definitely wrong

After... having nodes at de and sg, kano.is main node has a lot of room to do chicken dance!

I think CK's optimizations the past few weeks probably did the trick?!

Can anyone comment on this from a technical view?

Kano's pool isn't finding the blocks.  Individual miners are

The optimizations help things like block propagation and what not - but he can't do anything to help the actual finding of the block.

That is true, but he certainly does something to help not losing the block when a miner find it. *thumbs up to Kano/CK*
1467  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB][Canada]Antminer S7, Antminer S7 Coupon, Avalon6, EVGA PSU on: January 09, 2016, 04:36:35 AM
Time to revive my main buy thread;

I'm interested in buying;
Willing to pay the "ship now" Bitmain's GH/$

-Antminer S7
-Antminer S7 Coupon

-Avalon6

-High end GS/GQ/G2/P2/T2 EVGA PSU or equivalent top quality.

I am interested in international purchase
However if the units are already in Canada, i can pay a little more, since i will not have to pay for import.

If you have any of these, please reply here or PM an offer and i will respond depending on the current budget.

I've got both Ants S7's B8 and Avalon 6's... would consider selling a couple... Running close to 160TH and already melted one electrical panel Smiley  Before I burn our shop down, I might consider unloading some.

PM me if interested... Units are in Quebec / Ottawa... can deliver to TO & MTL.

Cheers.
S

I'm a-ok with face to face, if i can test them out a bit. I live next to Ottawa, so no need to go all the way to MTL or even worse, to Toronto.
1468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does HD Wallets meaning ? on: January 09, 2016, 04:22:36 AM
Thanks a lot man, i was also having some doubt in HD meaning, now i understands it, i am using electrum hardware wallet , if i have lost it i just have to feed my seed key and i can open that wallet any where just i have to download windows installation wallet and feed my seed key and it opens it.

One doubt if i lost my seed key can i retrive my wallet with any other method, as their is no wallet.dat file in this wallet software.

I don't know how Electrum save its data, its definitively there somewhere but its probably not called wallet.dat.

I use Multibit HD which save a backup of it in a specific place every pretty much relevant moment + every X time. So you can recover your wallet with your password with that. If you lose your password, you need the words. If you lose both you're screwed.
1469  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Antminer S7 for sale | BTC or CSGO Skins :) on: January 09, 2016, 04:13:14 AM
The antminer is still for sale. I have received a few offers both on this site and through other local channels...

I will match Bitmain's B9 price + ship if you ship monday. If you got an offer higher than this, take it.
1470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does HD Wallets meaning ? on: January 09, 2016, 04:11:42 AM
Sorry if this question asked in wrong place or too stupid to ask.

I'm a frequent bitcoins user as well as investor, but I didn't really understand how different bitcoin wallets client works.
I want something that's safe, not relying on third party, but also comes with mobility, right now I'm using MyCelium HD Wallet.

So just quick question, does HD Wallet (MyCelium Android wallet), relies on 3rd party ?
The recover key were 12 different words, is it possible to recover my wallet with this 12 different words on different client ?

What is the safest wallet that met below criteria ?
Doesn't rely on 3rd party
Mobility(Apps/easy to recover on different devices)
Security

All the same, there is a list of which relies on 3rd party and which does not on the bitcoin.orp's official page;
https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

HD means hyperdeterministic. Means with your wallet words, you can retrieve you wallet with just your words, no need for the wallet.dat etc. In a nutshell its a method of generating the subsequent privkeys. While non HD would have to be pre generated "manually" any keys after that would be lost if you did not have a wallet.dat backup.

1471  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Avalon6 3.65 TH/s miners for sale on: January 09, 2016, 04:07:36 AM
Thanks. Do you mean the group buy section? I don't see a hardware sales thing anywhere.

Move it to board 75;
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=75.0

Also I'm in Canada, US ONLY is poo, but with the buy at 1100$, i'd buy one for 1000$+Ship tops. But i would buy one at that price. Maybe two.

I am on a crappy tablet can you give him the link to,marketplace , computers etc

And done. Tongue
1472  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [ALL SOLD] 1100w Platinum (94%) server PSUs/breakout boards w/cables on: January 09, 2016, 01:53:13 AM
Thanks for all the help/advice people, but I have found an alternate solution at http://holybitcoin.com/product/hp-1200-watt-common-slot-psu-bundle/

I think these are the low efficiency ones. About 86% bare at 50% load, so maybe 83% at full load. Something to keep in mind.
Also, you need 220V to support a 1200W load otherwise you're limited to 900.

You guys are right regarding the efficiency. After further research, there are 2 model #'s;

DPS-1200FB A
&
DPS-1200FB-1 A

The 'DPS-1200FB-1 A' is a 94% efficient Common Slot Power Supply.

After looking at the photo on holybitcoin.com, seems like they are selling the low efficiency one.

So if anyone else is looking for one, remember to look for one that specifically says "DPS-1200FB-1 A"

Also quakefiend420, kilo17 at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1294058.0 runs this PSU combo with the Avalon6 and he's on 120v. Which is where I got the idea from and boggles my mind since it says only 900w max at 120v, but he's able to run it when he overclocks the PSU to 12.55v.

Sorry to get off topic, just sharing information to others of what I have researched.

I blame Prelude, he took all the stock and forced to me look for an alternative server PSU. lol

Its fine, information is useful. And i offered to sell you one for quakefiend's asking price ;P His price before he sold out that is!

Now watch everyone flock to this pool. Yeah this is crazy, about 500% luck. xD

5 blocks? on friday night? Incredible.

First 5-blocks day?

This is awesome!

Technically the 5th block is on the 9th of Jan. So no. Sorry xD

As for recoverable chips, yes, the chips contain gold. A very minute amount of gold. But, unless you know how to extract that gold, which happens to be a toxic, very hazardous and creates hazardous waste extraction process - not something to do in the home.... and have a significant amount of the chips, that ~VALUABLE~ aspect is out of reach of most people.

No i'm saying people buy these to extract the chips, not the gold from the chips and then run the chips on custom PCBs. Each working chips are probably worth 10+$ Which are recoverable from dead/burnt boards.
1477  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [ALL SOLD] 1100w Platinum (94%) server PSUs/breakout boards w/cables on: January 08, 2016, 10:03:58 PM
Wish I can get one of those tanks... Lol.

On a side note, I do see ebay selling the PSU, but no breakout boards. Do you have any extra breakout boards for sale or know where to get 1?

Thanks in advance.

I don't.  Prelude got several breakout boards that work with the 1300W version from me, if he figures out how to make them power on the 1100W, he may be able to help you out, should he choose to sell any.

I offered one kit, but both me and Prelude are from Canada, so i guess he doesn't want them that much (more expensive to and from here when dealing with Americans).

Anyways, arent these boards originally J4bberwock?
1478  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [EU] Searching for hardware partner - i will provide server room and electricity on: January 08, 2016, 04:49:26 PM
I am searching for a long term partner who will provide mining hardware - asics and power supplies. Details will be negotiated with partner.
If i find one, my obligation will be server room.

By server room i mean:
1. Dedicated room - only accessed by me (access control equipment...)
2. Air condition - we will negotiate depending on equipment
3. Active and passive network equipment,fail-safe internet link... - I am IT Engineer with focus on computer networks and security.
4. Fire alarm, fireproof door.
5. Building security 24/7 - technical and physical security. I can install video and audio surveillance in server room, to be accessed buy partner.
6. One person that will monitor the equipment.
7. Electricity - dedicated circuit 220v - if we don't end up too big i will provide diesel power generator as fail-safe

All expenses mentioned above are payed and provided by me.
I will provide hardware maintenance, partner will provide necessary parts.

I don't search some outdated hardware to waste electricity.
For start lets make cap on 45KW, that will be enough for 30 X Antminers s7, or 3 x SP50 if someone can get there hands on them, but i doubt it. This can bee negotiated in both directions.

Profit split will be negotiated.
Location Europe - Balkan. Precise location will be known to partner only if we make a deal.

I will edit post with requested details.

So are you saying you'd provide, in short, free security and electricity for other people's miners? Althought after that, you then want a cut.
Data centers typically charge 50$/kW for the hosting and maintenance service, do you think you can compete? Because for 45kW you're looking for a pretty small investor that already has access to sub 40$/kW/mo of trusted services.
1479  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Looking to by s5 hashing board on: January 08, 2016, 04:45:27 PM
Let me ask this another way.   Is there a way I can attempt to fix it?

As per previous and other's post, yes you can try to put a new one assuming nothing else burnt down. If you're fine with soldering, replacing a PCI-e plug should be easy.

Once again as per previous post......   There is a huge draw still on the board that burned the connector.  I am completely comfortable soldering a new pci-e plug on the board.  However that is not going to fix anything if the board is just going to burn out another.  The post that I quoted the gentleman was talking about grounds and the screws that hold the boards to the heat sinks (i Think.)  That is what i am asking.. I do not believe it is a connector problem, more something to do with the board itself.  Like i said with only front power plugs on it.  The other hashing board plug and wires are cool to the touch when running.  The wires and plug to the already burnt connector side are hot as fire crackers leaving me to assume something else is wrong other than a defective pci-e plug.

I did read a couples of time that some people had an issue with the heatsink not getting grounded, maybe there is a short somewhere. Maybe someone know exactly. You could start by checking if the screws in place are standard. I'm guessing if there is a short it would be because a screw is touching the circuit.
1480  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 08, 2016, 02:30:53 PM
So i found out that laying the S7 on its side get better even temps. For instance on the side i get 56 57 56. While standing i get 55 55 59. Anyone know if there is reason the S7 should not be laid on its side?

I am assuming that the output of the Buck Converter on the 700MHz systems, Batches 8&9, is set higher, but have not seen a measurement yet.

Rich

I got my B8 but i did not want to remove the warranty seal. I'm not sure there is a way to even open it up and inspect the miner for lose heatsink. It said i HAVE to inspect the boards prior to using it, as if the bord burn down because of it, it will not be under warranty.

So how am i supposed to open it up? That would make it pretty easy to get a couples of quick measurements.
