641  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will privacy shrink to the point where it becomes a thing of the past? on: September 25, 2020, 02:57:40 PM
Robot vaccums and lawn mowers are nowadays connected to the internet as well, AFAIK. Some friends own these and showed me how, miles away from home, they can power on their vacuums and see live how it cleans their home through its camera. Creepy.
But why? The whole point of having a robot for something, is so you don't have to spend time on it!
Do they also install a camera inside their dishwasher?

Quote
For the phones, I have modded them like a privacy freak that I have become: removed all camera modules, took out the microphones as well from one of them, flashed Lineage and Copperhead OS with no Google stuff on them and I only use open source software. To avoid the location tracing whenever I feel like I should, I carry a Faraday phone bag with me at all times as well.
Why not just buy a 10 dollar dumb phone instead? Without camera and networking, there's not much point in having a smart phone.

Old Nokia phones are still available on some stores. I'd like to do that so I wont have to do all the troubles disabling just about everything that collects data which I have no idea if its really going to work.  That fact that they are decieving us to believe they are not going to collect data from us.

Often times though its just for marketing which the ads flashing on our monitors are exactly what we were just thinking of buying. When I just said to my father on the phone that I wanted to buy a yatch just to joke around. The ads just flash about luxurious yatchs.  Well its pointless collecting data from us if they will not use them for its purpose.
642  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ICO WhitePaper Matter Most? on: September 24, 2020, 07:24:27 PM
ICO white paper is of course very important for a project, because ICO white paper is a form of a copy of the project itself, be it about the concept, project products, partners and project work maps etc. Usually the first thing that investors look at is a white paper project, but I am personally not entirely sure about an ICO white paper.

If you check out the first page of the thread you'll find out how mess up ICO whitepaper and learning how much project had successfully launched the real satisfying product in the end of their roadmap are actually just few.  Only few of them too made it with a marketing still.

Somehow you ccan see the project like WAVES which the marketing was so massive during its ICO but still not satisfying after years of its launched.  Its successful though.

Today we can already judge a project base on whitepaper. Plagiarism is common which means if its WP is plagairized, you can expect what is expected.
643  Economy / Economics / Re: Pandemic pushed the US into recession- now official , analysis on: September 24, 2020, 07:05:12 PM

Its not just US that is going to plunge into a recession. Most countries in the world had been affected by the virus, every city locked down just to slow down the spread of virus and its consequences are felt by the people within it. This is going to be the new normal now and it sink in already that surviving this pandemic should be the first priority.

War is not a solution anymore to run an economy. Things change and maintaining on top of the game can be hard.
644  Economy / Economics / Re: DeFi vs. CeFi? on: September 24, 2020, 06:27:20 PM
A lot of interesting takes. Thanks, everyone. My thoughts are just the same, though I think that this hype is far different with 2017 ico craze. Lots of new things coming in and I myself still hoping that there's gonna be a Robinhood-like App that can operate globally with ease of payments that will make Bitcoin far more reachable by a lot of people.

Also a diamond is a pet rock...

Jesus Christ, Marie! They're minerals...

They're all rock Hank. Water in the end is more important says Dora.

If we just look at Defi as simple as for funding the project, its just the same as those ICO and IEO. New projects can be added on Uniswap jus to have a head start.
If may pass some time later but then the system will still be here just as DEX that had been existing since time. They just add some ways to have more liquidity. If a person has the intention to earn income, he'd put his funds to the liquidity pool to earn for every swapping.
645  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Patents on: September 24, 2020, 06:02:57 PM

take money due to fad and buzzwords,  taking advantage of executives who do not know what technology can or cannot do, does not mean much. These projects may be raising money now, but are they sustainable?

This assumes that these projects aim for anything other than raising money. If raising money is your only goal you don't need to be sustainable.

I am not talking about planting trees or reducing carbon emictions lol

I am talking about companies being financially sustainable.

Those projects are receiving money now because someone thinks that they will give good money return after some years. But as soon as they realize those projects won't (as most blockchain projects are not making money now) they will just cut off that money supply. This is the sustainability i am talking about

I was also referring to projects being financially sustainable Wink Good catch though, I completely overlooked the double meaning.

What I'm saying is that some projects are only after investor money, rather than trying to provide actual solutions.

And if investor money is all you care about, ie. your actual business model is just raising as much money as possible, then financial sustainability matters very little. In that case your project needs to be just barely sustainable enough that you don't get called out as the scam you are and that it floats long enough for the founders to gracefully exit the project.

Now I'm not saying that all buzzword projects start out like that, but I do have a suspicion that a significant portion of them is.

Isn't this patents are just for the trademark purposes?

Certainly any developers can develop further any project that has been existing which even if its copied but had been developed further, there wouldn;t be an issue but maybe they will just sue base on the names or probably logos and designs. Other than these, it will just be hard to prove whether they entirely copied the project.

646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: UNISWAP (UNI) is driving me CRAZY!! on: September 23, 2020, 04:18:28 PM
With billions worth of daily trading volume and constantly rising, I'm not sure if there will really be the end of Defi. The project has been backed by the ETH foundation which I think is a pretty solid one. Its been created since 2018 for the purpose of developing liquidity pool and it resulted to the smartcontracts for V2.

Even the Centralize exchanges are adding UNI, I'm sure they will be accumulating UNI. The Uniswap team has plans for UNI tokens which provide incentives to hodlers as far as I know in the V3.
647  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will privacy shrink to the point where it becomes a thing of the past? on: September 23, 2020, 03:43:23 PM

We're advancing faster and give away our KYC to anyone too in exchange for $25.

There is not much concern to it yet because it's all virtual yet. Nothing is actualyl going on after we give away our data to google by simply having an email and turning on our google maps and access our location. Nothing yet is happening. There will be a time when things going to change.  Time will come for example if IRS grabs the data of the exchanges that we have registered like kraken.com or coinbase.
648  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why don't you stop rushing to promote bounty from a scammed bounty manager on: September 23, 2020, 03:17:57 PM
I do not agree with that. Why should the bounty manager be punished? He's just doing a job and is a service provider. As long as he gets the bounties, holds them well and then distributes them properly to the participants, he is doing a good job. It can and should not be his job to check whether this is a scam project or not. Often it is also not immediately obvious if a service is legit or not. In my opinion it is rather the responsibility of the users who participate in the bounty campaign. In the end they are the ones who advertise the service and make others aware of it.

Although things can work out for this bounty manager who just do his job and get paid in BTC or ETH. He should have the decency to at least check whether the project is a potential scam or not. Not helping them to scam people and waste the time of bounty hunters I guess will help the crypto market in general than alllowing the investors money go in the nads of the bad actors in crypto.

Also bounty hunters could really help if they see the project is a potential scam like having fake teams an plagaiarized whitepaper, take time to warn others and move to another campaign. Bitcointalk and crypto space as a whole will be a beter place without scams.
649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: █▀▄ [ANN] DIA | Data infrastructure for DeFi | Binance/Kucoin/Bitmax/Okex ▄▀█ on: September 23, 2020, 02:04:42 PM

That is strange. Bounty allocation is 0.05% out of all tokens. There is no logical explanation to wait until this will be distributed to start a lift off. Looking on how many partnerships are made and amount of exchanges where DIA are listed, I'm very skeptical that many hunters will be willing to sell their tokens.
The hunters will also see the situation whether they are try to selling their tokens or not. This depends on the sign of the DIA market. Remember when the hunters were seeing the bullish trend and they may not sell that in the short time but when they were feeling panic due to the next dump that will come in the future and they may send to the exchange site and then dump it instantly.

I thought that that will be the best decision if the developers have paid the hunters at the early listing of binance.
[/quote]

The distribution should just be done only once and that's it. For it will keep keep us busy watching the charts after the the dumping for probably a month. But gradually doing it means the traders will have to keep watching the telegram channel for them to dump before the hunters could.

Anyone with huge holding of the token will dump it down to less than $1 to make sure he can double his stash when bounty participants sell. Pandemic will force them to sell.
650  Economy / Gambling / Re: Best online gaming platform on: September 22, 2020, 07:01:46 PM
Ever thought of ways to increase your wealth through some online gaming platforms? https://www.kingbillycasino.com/en-AU/games/slots got you covered as it's the best online gaming platform that offers its users chances to increase their wealth within a short period of time.

I see that the casino is being operated by a company called Direx N.V under standard Curacao license. However, the main company is registered in Cyprus as "Direx Limited" having registered address as "12 Kolonakiou Street, West Block, 1st Floor, Office/flat 101, Agios Athanasios, Postal Code: 4103, Limassol, Cyprus." Now after is tried searching through the company name led me into an astonishing information reveal. I don't know if these are true or not.

It seems Direx NV operated not less than 39 casinos worldwide including Bitstarz. Please see the link below,

https://www.askgamblers.com/owner/direx-n-v

Screenshot from King Billy Casino:

Screenshot from Bitstarz:

If I am not mistaken, Bitstarz already has a tormented history because I have seen a lot of scam acquisitions against it. Both King Billy and Bitstarz are being operated by same operator so I think people need to take cautious approach here!

Owned by same unscrupulous company that has the reputation to scam.
Hard to reclaim trust of the public when they still are actively scamming people with the difference casino services they have. And when its done over and over, the accumulation of bad reports are overwhleming that its true impossible to regain back. It becomes a hobby sto scam already.
651  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: bloody market on: September 22, 2020, 06:40:08 PM

It is a very unexpected dump, it could be the UNI turned into BTC and then sold of USD. They can't cashout UNI so it has to be traded into BTC. This is to look for way to blame UNI. Smiley  If markets are really manipulated, it could be that whales are attempting to buy UNI, even the CEX are accumulating UNI so its possible that in an attempt to make hodlers panic, they dump btc for UNI to also drop.  Whatever.
652  Economy / Gambling / Re: Best online gaming platform on: September 22, 2020, 05:33:46 PM

Every casino claims to be the best gaming platform. But congrats to your first post, you finally take the courage to post one but its sounded like you haven't been here before. Users in this forum are used to scammers and you sounded like one.

I won 400 euro's and wanted to withdraw that money. After a few tries and many tries to contact KING BILLY directly they are making it super hard to withdraw the money. All over sudden I can't even access my account normally, and I should contact the support.

This quote is from one of the player in your platform who wrote in this https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.kingbillycasino.com
He's not the only one who had been accusing you, there must be truth to it.

We are tanking every day.
Like always i bought and then suddenly coin is tanking as fuck..

No one is buying until distribution is over. Almost the all time low though so this must be the time to buy but since the distribution for bounty campaign is postponed, the price might just dive a bit deeper til the distribution is over. If there is 3 phases then it will take by the end of the year before this project will lift off. This is bad.  Cheesy

Its possible to grow but when distribution come, it will still drop.
654  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Etherum Fees Double In a Week As DeFi Heats Up on: September 21, 2020, 09:48:05 PM
I believe it is not going to be as tough as people claim to be. Bitcoin has around 7-10 dollar fee right now and nobody cares about it, whereas ETh has around 2 dollars right now and people act like it is end of the world. If bitcoin can reach to 10k with 10 dollar price, that means ethereum could at least be 2 thousand dollars with 2 dollar fee as well, there is no need to make an overreaction.

We would want both bitcoin and ethereum fee's to be lower, who would be fine with paying such huge fees, considering there are people who use it from third world countries where 2 dollars is literally a meal price, it is understandable to want it lower. However wanting it lower and not using it for the price are different and I doubt anyone is leaving because it is 2 dollars.

It is not only the gas fee that has been getting higher, there are also ballooning fees for interacting with the DeFi protocols.
Getting hit with those fees (that can run up to $100) is just insane.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/99-gas-fees-on-ethereum-are-crippling-defis-growth
https://cointelegraph.com/news/using-a-defi-protocol-now-costs-more-than-50-as-ethereum-fees-skyrocket

It will be interesting to see how those fees develop when more DeFi projects (similar to Uniswap) make a large move on Ethereum network.

Everybody complains it about it when the UNI airdropped came. I stopped making trasaction after I paid $25 last week, its a huge amount to waste. $100 will probably make me think of just not trading yet until all has calm down and the ETH2 solution come. It would be fair if the price of ETH also tank up but if it stays this low while the fee is the only that tanks, I'd prefer to move to other platforms where I'm also used to.

655  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Police Raids and kids involving spider betting. on: September 21, 2020, 09:36:14 PM
I have read before another betting being done amid with the pandemic which is cock fighting by adults and now spider betting by kids which practically shows how hard headed people are knowing that they are still abiding the law and doing violations that are against the set and implemented health protocols for we are still dealing with a deadly virus that still do not have any cure. At this point of time, it is the main responsibility of the parents to keep their kids to stay at home no matter what the reason is for here in our country, kids or those people aging 0-20 years old are not allowed to go outside because they are on the category of vulnerable individuals that might get caught acquiring the virus. Same with those 60+ ages. Spider fighting like this makes me think this one that the OP stated is being held on the Philippines which makes it more be on the parents to be responsible for children are not allowed to go anywhere and to just stay home due to quarantine. No matter what the reason is, the parents are the one who will take care of the full responsibility for kids are still young ages that must have full attention and patronage.

People already figured the pandemic wouldn't stop if they stop gathering though, it onlyu makes them worse in terms of putting food on the table.  Everyone goes out when there is no authorities watching. Spider or cock fighting will still continue as long as there is money to make specially in the remote areas where Covid isn't spreading quickly.  I'm not really sure where the spider fight is rampant these days all I know is that its being held regularly in rural areas. Not in the cities.

^  Gut feeling, Costa.  The more I think about it, I don't know...  I'm pretty confident it could be over 2.5 rounds tho.

UFC 253:  Inside the Octagon - Adesanya vs Costa
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bK2B7k9Cu_o

Is anyone also bothered with Dan's mustache?  Grin
Dan really knows how to break it down. I'm just amazed to listen how he reveal Costa's vulnerability like he is just a volume fighter who can knock but don't really make them unconcious while on the ground.

^  Yup exactly.  But as I think more about it, I could see it going over 2.5.  And it's one of the bouts that you don't really know what's gonna happen just like Whitaker vs Romero.  So as a safer bet, I'll go for the over 2.5 rounds.

Edit:  And Costa has good cardio for a guy his size.

2.50 rounds is more than enough for Adesanya to measure his counter while Costa is busy. But then Costa could still be lucky to throw a hook like how he did to Romero.
657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATMs Surge As There Are Now Over 10,000 Bitcoin ATMs Worldwide on: September 21, 2020, 08:33:36 PM
The year 2020 has witnessed a surge in the number of ATMs supporting digital coins.

The total number of Bitcoin ATMs has now passed 10,000 worldwide.

READ THE COMPLETE ARTICLE HERE: https://worldpublicityblog.com/index.php/2020/09/21/bitcoin-atms-surge-as-there-are-now-over-10000-bitcoin-atms-worldwide/

I just read here in the forum that the majority of the Bitcoins ATM is in the USA. I think its thousands of Bitcoin ATM are in the USA compared to some of the countries that probably bitcoin ATM are just numbered. I'm thinking it would take a long time for Bitcoin ATM to be implemented in my country probably Bitcoin ATM in my country doesn't even reach a hundred I think. Most of the companies may be are just afraid to take the risk in bitcoin also a lot of companies that try just end up closing the bitcoin ATM business maybe because it is not just a reliable way to do at this time and no one uses it.

Seen few in my country but have not tried even once. I kept watching the ATM for nearly an hour whether someone would actually tried it out of curiousity but seen no one. I don't know how they pick a location to put the ATM but it must be good to put it on a crowded or a path way where people can see it. Its best on a location near tech hub because its a place where people knew BTC.  The amount of marketing isn;t enough when scams in crypto is very much like a regular thing.
658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Some project managers should be called to order. on: September 20, 2020, 07:55:15 PM

How about asking for BTC for the fee besides the tokens they allocate for the campaign. DRK Defi is also an example that one campaign you would probably take because they did risk real funds loike the TRX tokens. Its just few though.

Managers are also being paid by the team. You can't expect them to challenge the team.
Bounty campaigns are not regulated but most of hte time DT users are looking into the potential bounty scam though which is good.

This is the team of this project decision, it is not like hunters can tell project team how they will pay or in what form, since you know this then why you saying it like it is up to hunters to decide,
There is nothing anyone can do in this case, it is up to hunters to join or not to join any bounty, if you promote a project out of your own free will and never get paid at the end you have to accept the outcome because you already know the odds.

They can request though and if the team doesn't accept it then hunters stil have the choice not to join.

There isn't really an assurance that DRK is a safe project but they lose something out of this campaign such as the TRX unlike when its just the DRK token to pay which could have no value if its only on their own exchange. We don't even have the slightest idea whether the volume there is true.

I find it too good to be true that just by depositing you get to earn $50 so how about withdrawing UNI?

Houbi is one of the major exchanges today though so I wouldn't really think they would be scamming at all but will probably entice just make their best to get every UNI we have in our wallets. I'm not seeing any relation between Uniswap and CEX, is there?
