Ikr but again a lot of possibilities

Who would have thought New Zealand could lose a match after scoring 400 runs, not many saw DLS coming and playing a big part there. We saw what Maxi achieved recently and the win predictor was 98% in favor of Afghanistan so strange things happen sometimes.

Well.. they lost the match due to technical reasons. DLS system needs to be reviewed. Pakistan scored 200/1 after 25.3 overs, and therefore they were declared as the winners. But what is the guarantee that Pakistan would have scored another 202 runs in the next 24.3 overs? That is close to 9 runs per over. DLS system in this case assumes that all the Pakistan batsmen will bat like Fakhar Zaman and will score at strike rate of 150-160. I don't think that it is the case and the Kiwis were just one wicket away from the win.
Yeah, the longer the format/Duration, the better chance of winning for a superior team and i guess no one really understands how DLS works in general, i have no idea either.

That's why T-20 is considered hit and miss and skill is not the main factor, even less equipped teams can get away from trouble waters with just one short burst.

No hope for Bangladesh against Australia but you never know and what if the Dutch win the match against India too?  Grin
✂✂✂✂

LOL.. Dutch beating India would be the ultimate upset after getting drubbed by Australia and England. I can't even imagine a possibility where Netherlands would defeat India. That is the case even if India fields their 3rd string team. And the Dutch doesn't seems to have learnt anything from the tournament so far. Their running between the wickets is still horrific, and their bowlers just undergo meltdowns whenever they bowl after the 40th over. The players just surrender the match if they lose the toss and are asked to bowl first.

If New Zealand can win against Sri Lanka today, they will almost certainly qualify for the semi-finals. A win against Sri Lanka today will not officially guarantee the semi-final but New Zealand will have a much better chance of making it to the semi-finals. Pakistan's next match is against England, even if Pakistan wins against England, Pakistan's chances will be low as Pakistan's net run rate is very low compared to New Zealand. Pakistan's only chance is if New Zealand loses today against Sri Lanka and they win the next match against England or they have another equation which is if New Zealand wins against Sri Lanka today then Pakistan must win against England by a huge margin. If these equations go in Pakistan's favour, Pakistan will be the fourth team to qualify for the semi-finals of the World Cup.
In my opinion I think Pakistan have a little chance to go in the next round. Even then they seems like more stronger team from the England team but I have a doubt on that match result who's gonna won that match. But in today's match I think New Zealand team going to win even then New Zealand team passing a bad time but I think they have ability to win against Sri Lanka. So for today I am going to take New Zealand team for winning.

I think they have pretty good chance and they could very much get in despite so much shithousery because luck is kinda favoring them. They needed couple of other teams results going in their favor and it did happen with Aus vs Afg. They also needed a win against NZ and surprisingly Rain and Fakhar managed to secure a win despite the first 400 score of the 2023 WC.

664  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 DISCUSSION THREAD! on: November 09, 2023, 05:56:57 AM

With the number of points England currently have, they are pretty sure to play in the Champions Trophy.  England can play the Champions Trophy as the seventh team and there will be a big battle between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for the eighth position. Bangladesh's next match is against Australia and Sri Lanka's next match is against New Zealand. The match against New Zealand will be very difficult for Sri Lanka whereas the match against Australia will be very difficult for Bangladesh. If Sri Lanka is well defeated against New Zealand, on the other hand if Bangladesh is defeated against Australia by a big margin, then Sri Lanka will play the Champions Trophy and Bangladesh will be eliminated from the Champions Trophy.
Nothing is 100% sure yet, yeah odds are favoring them.

But what if England managed to lose the last match against Pakistan and that too by a big margin? What if Sri Lanka vs New Zealand match washed out and they share 1 point each?

No hope for Bangladesh against Australia but you never know and what if the Dutch win the match against India too?  Grin

For everyone, this is a dead rubber fixer but Poor Poms are playing for their Champions Trophy qualification. They'll win tonight but automatic qualification is still at risk because they are not alone in this race as Bangbros and the Lankans are also competing for the last 2 positions.

NZ (WC semis slot) vs SL (CT qualification)
AUS vs BAN (CT qualification))
PAK (WC semis slot) vs ENG ((CT qualification) -We will witness an epic meltdown like the death of the ODI format Grin lol if England fails to qualify-.

And Party Pooper fixture for at least 1 test playing nation
IND vs NED (CT qualification)

My take on the games that are meant to qualify automatically for the Champions Trophy:

  • Srilanka won't qualify for the Champions Trophy as they would lose today or if the match gets canceled due to rain.
  • Bangladesh might not qualify if Australia takes the game seriously
  • England should qualify which means they might be able to beat Pakistan considering the kind of game played by them yesterday.
  • Again if India plays the match against the Netherlands in the same manner they have been playing then the Netherlands might not qualify
Considering the Kiwi's luck there are lot of ifs and buts

Mad respect for Big show, this guy actually did the impossible. It has to be the greatest ODI WC inning, didn't imagine this outcome when they were 7 down.

Someone should beat the shit out of Mujeeb and Skipper Shahidi, both dropped Maxwell and one catch was dolly af. Also, skipper Shahidi needs some serious guidance on his captaincy, one of the clueless captains.

Everyone will become clueless if someone is striking the ball in that way, literally no foot work, cramps, back spasm and just made it just with his hand and eye alone. Best ever innings, and he surpassed Kapil Dev's 1983 knock to be honest.

Mad max show, and happy to watch the entire innings. SA vs AUS will be playing semi's and clearly the number 6 can be loading in their mind now.
No doubt about it and It'll be Maxwell's legacy. History will remember him for a very long time for this inning, it was simply magical and the whole time it felt like everything worked in his favor.

It was clearly his day and poor Afghans were on the receiving hand. Semis are going to be fun and the Aussies reminded everyone that no one should count them out (because of individual brilliance on the big day) despite their poor performance as a unit.

Can Afghanistan win against the Australian team today?
Ben Stokes!!! Afghans are the favorite now.

Their seamers doing India here. They are giving Australia the same treatment as SL's batters and the scorecard looks glorious (Sri Lankans should not feel alone now lol). I placed a bet on them when they were struggling during 40-ish overs and the odds were @3.50. I wasn't serious about it but now it's looking good.

It was another brave effort for the Afghan batters, which they can be very proud of and it came against Australia at a crucial moment of the tournament.

They were a bit sluggish and lacked intensity in the middle overs but everything worked fine in the death overs so no harm was done and i think this is a competitive total, given their spinners click tonight.

Nice rivalry between Bangbros and the Lankans, It started with the Nagin dance and Mattew's timed out dismissal will add a new chapter to the juicy rivalry.  Grin

Also, this match should've been canceled. At this point of time, North India barring Dharamshala doesn't deserve any single international match and surely not the Delhi aka gas chamber.

It is that time of the year when crop burning starts. Nothing can be done unless the farmers and the local government comes out with a solution. The CM of Delhi has made several false promises under his rule and the people votes him for freebies. It is not just Delhi, the complete North India has become a gas chamber. Bangladesh and Srilanka both avoided practice session before the match because of the pollution.

I don't think BCCI would be able to do anything now. They have already created a schedule and they would be following it. Even if the matches are held in region where the pollution is out of control.
Agreed that BCCI can't do anything now but they should have used their brain before scheduling. It's not like this pollution problem came into existence this year only, it's happening for so long and IMO these venues should be banned but ofc it takes some guts to stand against State boards which BCCI lacks in general.

The less we talk about the standards of politicians the better.

How could you survive against this bowling attack?

Every single bowler is in red hot form, my fingers are crossed for our batters for the semis and hopefully, the finals. Avoid the batting collapse and the bowlers will win the match for you.

I really hope i am not jinxing this flow for our bowlers, at least in my mind. This bowling attack is champion, I was worried when Hardik got ruled out but atm feel incredibly safe.

SA haven't been good at chasing, also Indian bowlers are doing extremely well, I think we'll see India continuing their winning streak.
The pitch is kinda confusing tbh. In the first 10 overs, it was looking flat but after that, it turned into a slow side drastically with a small window of favoring set batters. New batters struggled to score freely even strike rotation was difficult, which is clear from Virat's inning and he's the best in the business so this looks competitive total and if the pitch stays the same then most probably match winning total.

Proteas are definitely shaky outfits when chasing targets but if dew comes in then they would find it easy to bat, especially against spin duo.

A blistering start by India went down the drain after Rohit's wicket. Indians were at 62 runs at just 5.5 overs when they lost Rohit and 90-ish when the power play ended but since then Gill-Rohit-Iyer added only 31 runs in the last 10 overs, some shitty anchor innings are going on from the Birthday boy Koach and Iyer.

Yeah, Rabada and Maharaj did bowl some finest overs but both batters looking defensive, especially Iyer which is completely opposite of his own gameplay.

Edit

They took their time but now back in business.

One team love to chase and the other keeps showing its class when batting first but here the former opts to bat and the latter seems happy because it plays out perfectly in the context of big matches. Both want to test the different scenarios.

Teams sitting on the sidelines will keep their eyes open as well as they could potentially face one of em in the semis.
676  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 DISCUSSION THREAD! on: November 04, 2023, 01:38:27 PM
Interrupted again, annoying cause match is just so interesting to watch right now. Anyway, if Pakistan wins this game whole credit will go to Fakhar Zaman, who knew what huge total they were chasing yet didn't lose hope and kept playing aggressive.
Fakhar was dropped after a couple of bad series and the guy who replaced him (Iman ul Haq, relative of Injamam) had more or less the same numbers.

Fakhar orchestrated this chase beautifully and singlehandedly stole the match from the Kiwis. Kiwis went into complacent mode because of the mammoth total they put on the scoreboard and completely forgot about the rain scenario.
677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 DISCUSSION THREAD! on: November 04, 2023, 11:27:48 AM
Oh boy! Rain interrupted the match and as of now, Pakistan is ahead in the game according to the DLS system, thanks to Fakhar's ridiculous hitting.

Is there some twist building up or some might say Kudrat ka nijam lol. If the rain keeps going on for a long or in case there is a washout then Pakistan will win the match for sure.
678  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 DISCUSSION THREAD! on: November 04, 2023, 10:15:53 AM
Practically as target of 402 can be chased but knowing Pakistan team I doubt it. New Zealand have done everything correct today. What the need now is some early wickets and they can then hope to improve thier NRR. Very bad bowling by Pakistan today, except Wasim most bowlers have a bad economy. Rachin Ravindra is a sensational find for the Kiwis, another century by him in the World Cup.
Pakistan was supposed to be a lethal bowling attack, at least that was the case before the Asia Cup and World Cup. Now it appears that everyone (including me) was busy hyping them for no reason.

Today Rauf produced the most expensive spell in the WC for Pakistan and after a few minutes Shaheen took him over. The latter is the leading wicket taker for Pakistan in the current world cup but has virtually zero impact.
679  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 DISCUSSION THREAD! on: November 04, 2023, 07:36:22 AM
Right now NZ doing amazingly well with Williamson and Ravindra on crease. They appear to be on their way to set target of 350+ as plenty batting and overs left.

Babar Azam just silly captain..
Rain or not, moisture on the pitch or not, Babar Azam should not have won the toss and taken the field. After winning the toss, kane williamson takes advantage of that opportunity. Babar Azma tries hard but is unable to bring down New Zealand's wickets and prevent runs. It is assumed that the defeat of the Pakistan team is certain today. The way New Zealand is batting, they are batting at a target of 400 runs. Taking 400 runs will see Pakistan lose by over 100 runs and this semi-final dream will remain elusive.
In Babar's mind and to be fair to him, the complete Pakistani outfit believes that bowling is their main strength despite no front line spinner and batters are not equipped to set winning totals, not because they are shit but because sometimes it's tough to assume what's the winning total.

Kane Mama came back from injury and again playing responsibly but Rachin is the new blue eyed boy for the Kiwis.

Most of their problems would be resolved if people on top posts could use their brains and put up a team's interest in front, instead of self interest goals.

Self interest does prevail sometimes and you can hardly blame anyone completely because it's human nature but FFS at least do something for the domestic system too or at least try to pretend.
