There was a shooting at a military base in Belgorod region. I mean the bad kind of shooting, not like a training exercise. Two or three armed individuals (according to RF MOD - "terrorists", according to some other reports - mobilized soldiers) fired at other mobilized soldiers and killed between 10 and 22, injured 15 or more. MOD says the "terrorists" are citizens of CIS, meaning the moribund post-Soviet union involving Russia, Belarus, etc, but in this case they most likely mean a person from Central Asia. If they were among the mobilized, that would explain how an armed foreign (presumably dual) citizen managed to get into a military base. Motive was allegedly religion-based, which works well for Russian propaganda - islamic terrorism and the entire evil world against the righteous Russian dictatorship. They might try to tie it to Ukraine as well.

662  Economy / Reputation / Re: The Latest Rule is 1 merit per week for signature campaign by yahoo62278 on: October 15, 2022, 06:51:43 PM
-   The lower the rank though, in general terms, the more difficult it is to reiterate over a 4 week period measuring the 1 Merit requirement weekly. Again, I’m pretty sure that once subject to the rule within a campaign, participants will try to better themselves, thus improving the overall numbers. To what degree I can't tell.

More pressure may result in more merit-whoring threads similar to this one, or attempts to post in more merit-rich boards in general.

I doubt that users would objectively improve the quality of their posts to any significant extent. More likely the campaign would have a higher turnover rate until it (possibly) settles on higher quality users who consistently earn merits.

People who care about their privacy do not publish their real name, address, phone number or email address on the web for anyone to see.

I guess if your last name is "Bitches" you kinda have to name your child like this:

I accept my bad things. I was dishonest about multiple accounts on the forum. What else? Did I scam anyone? Does anyone get any harm due to my lie? Did I lie about anyone else?

You might want to take a break. I don't see how digging your hole deeper makes any sense for you now.

As for harm, there was something about bonuses that you tried to double-dip with your sockpuppets. I can't be arsed to look it up, but again - stop digging or someone won't be so lazy.
664  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: October 15, 2022, 06:17:46 PM
If the "merit" button next to "Views" can also have the same feature, I think it would be very much helpful.

The problem is that sorting is done by the Bitcointalk server, and our extension works entirely inside the user's browser. So there is no easy way to implement sorting by merits. We could sort the current page but that doesn't help and might even be misleading, since the threads on other pages might have more merits. A more robust option would be to keep a list of threads on our (BPIP) server or perhaps use TryNinja's site to grab all threads for the board, but then it's complicated to display the result with all the other columns (i.e. last post etc).

Yahoo62278's campaign requires a minimum of 25 posts per week. The 1 Merit requirement is very low, if you can't earn 0.04 Merit per post, you should indeed not be paid for it.

I'd make it some sort of running average though. Maybe 5 or 10 merits over the last 4 weeks. There is a lot of variance in how merits are sent and I can imagine an otherwise decent user falling short of it in one unfortunate week.

For example I earned 10 or so merits on my last 20 posts, so that seems like 0.5 merit per post but only 3 of those 20 posts got merited. I'm quite sure I've had streaks of 25+ posts without merits.

Begs the question -- who's next. Kamala? She wishes.

It's gotta be Hillary. Both candidates could replay their greatest hits from 2016. Her e-mails!!! It'd be epic.

Or Democrats could choose someone with a pulse and win in a landslide but where's the fun in that.

This week has been terrible for me, as you know I had Brian Robinson Jr on my team but since I had him on my IR I could not make any other move until I moved him to my bench and dropped a player or I dropped him, I like my RBs and even if I had too many already my only option was to drop a WR, but since I am not doing so well in that position I decided to drop him, I did not really wanted to do this until I saw how he will behave when given the starting job, but I was forced due to the Bye week my K is going through, so if anyone is lacking a RB he could be the option you were looking for.

It looks like our match will be a proper bottom-of-the-barrel duel Grin

I had to get two new RBs off the wire for this week because I have two injured and two on a bye. My only hope is that Kelce will massively outscore whoever you're gonna get for TE.

I did want to get Robinson but got confused with the misleading wire date on Yahoo (October 15). Obviously he's not going to be available until Wednesday (October 19) and no use for this week.

Are you saying that you think the general population of Ukraine doesn't want to join NATO, the EU, embrace western values and instead would prefer to become part of Putins Kleptocracy?

Apparently all they want is cookies.

But for some inexplicable reason Putin can't give them cookies while (allegedly) being capable of boosting Crimea's economy and the imaginary Russian side of the future split Ukraine.

It's almost as if Ukrainians don't like Russian cookies. I wonder why that is.
669  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: October 14, 2022, 04:10:44 AM
~

Or maybe Ukrainians just don't want to be in or with Russia, just like nearly all countries in Eastern Europe after the fall of the Soviet block.

You can yell "cookies" all you want but anyone following politics in the aforementioned countries for the last 30 years could see that these countries had all sorts of issues, pendulum swings left and right, pro- and anti-EU/US/NATO etc, but most still somehow ended up on the western side of the newly-being-erected iron curtain, with exceptions being authoritarian shitholes like Belarus and the like.

There are many good reasons for this, all vividly illustrated now in Ukraine. Who could have know that people might not like to be invaded and ruled by a KGB psychopath. But wait, no, it must be some evil US plot. Maybe Clinton installed Putin back in 1999 and is puppeting him into doing all these evil things.

Will this Thursdays Amazon Prime game be more boring than last Thursdays?

I didn't think that was possible but it's turning out that way LOL

3:0 at halftime and they needed two sketchy pass interference calls to even get into the field goal range...

Drinking game suggestion: shot every time the talking heads forget the team is called "the red... the dubbyef... the commandos"
671  Other / Meta / Re: Top reporters on: October 14, 2022, 12:54:59 AM
Every board that doesn't have a DEDICATED AND ACTIVE mod (preferably one who applies rules consistently) should have signatures disabled. That would leave mostly just the bounty shit unattended, which no one really cares about anyway. And an occasional merit whore in WO.

All this nonsense in Bitcoin Discussion and elsewhere is just a massive waste of reporters' time and a disgrace to the forum. Nothing ever gets done and no one seems to want to moderate it so remove the incentive to spam.
672  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: October 13, 2022, 03:09:59 PM
Notice that when the US pulled out of Afghanistan, she left far more armaments there than the measly few tanks Putin left when he pulled his troops out of certain areas of Ukraine. Just saying.

Irrelevant and also false.

But if you can pop down there and talk to Taliban - maybe you can get those American "armaments" and bring them to your buddy Putin. Then he can personally fly a Black Hawk to Kyiv and declare himself the Grand Duke of Kievan Rus.
673  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Biden mentally OK? on: October 13, 2022, 11:46:37 AM
It does not leave me very calm to think that the leader who can exchange a few atomic bombs with Putin confuses what his son died of.

I have a feeling the big red button has been taken away from him Grin

I wish he doesn't run in 2024 though. That would be elder abuse.
674  Other / Meta / Re: See this burst poster here. on: October 13, 2022, 11:38:20 AM
It just doesn't feel right to adjust your posting for a signature campaign.

This.

Burst posting is not against the forum rules. PP's posts (regardless of timing) are not shitposts and in general are positive contributions (IMO) to the forum.

Asking someone to adjust the timing to fit the advertising needs may work for shitposters - they can easily smear their shit around in thin layers with no impact to the already abysmal quality. Asking a non-shitposter to do that is counter-productive, because they're usually replying when and where a reply is appropriate, whereas replying one hour later may no longer be relevant, result in repetitive posts, etc. I can't imagine that being any better for advertising but what do I know, maybe shitposting is good for advertising.

Yes, I'm aware that ChipMixer has the same rule and I think if I'm asked to adjust the timing of my posts then my response would be similar to PP's. However I always thought that burstposting rule was there to discourage users from trying to max out their quotas by making 50 posts late Friday, not to police their otherwise healthy posting habits for better ad exposure.
675  Other / Meta / Re: See this burst poster here. on: October 13, 2022, 03:00:49 AM
It's simply that I recently had a disagreement with someone I respect about what is burst posting and that person considers that I sometimes border on what would be burst posting because I write at wider intervals than that.

Well, now you have to tell us who that person is so that we can properly administer ridicule.
676  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: October 13, 2022, 02:35:39 AM
You're cute when you don't have a counter argument  Tongue perhaps add a picture of burning Russian tank next time to really drive home your point?

If you had claimed that Russia didn't lose any tanks, a picture of a burning tank would indeed be a good "counter argument", or rather a fact disproving your false claim. In this case a map was such counter-fact. I'll take being cute though, thank you.
677  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: October 12, 2022, 02:42:13 PM
Are you intentionally ignoring the fact that tanks have consistently been the top request from UA, which so far has been ignored by US/EU? Oh we can't have them? Well, then we never wanted them anyway  Cheesy

That doesn't explain why delivery of tanks would justify a nuclear response but whatever. I never expected logic from Russian propaganda so carry on.

Mexico
Cuba
Taiwan
China
India

Makes me wonder if you got confused which thread you're posting in or is it just a larger-than-usual dose of whataboutism.

Anyway, after 8 months of killing predominantly Russian-speaking population it should be clear by now that Putin didn't come there to protect the Russian language but if you want to keep living in that illusion that's fine. For sane people though, all that BS doesn't mean that Ukraine can just roll over and Putin will magically become nice and friendly and will no longer threaten or invade other countries like Georgia or Moldova. That's why Ukraine is being supported in this fight and Russia is becoming a pariah state.

Last i checked almost 1000km line of engagement still stands with RU even making some progress in some sections

Must've been a long time since you last checked it, let me help you.

Great use of the "second chance", spamming Meta with a useless thread after getting unbanned Roll Eyes

Except this isn't your second or even third chance.

Kremlin's Fifteen Ruble Forces figured out the Crimea bridge explosion plot and it's a full-scale double-o-seven movie script. MI6, NATO, Bulgarian weapons, Lithuanian spies, it has it all. Spoilers: it ends with WW3.

https://thegrayzone.com/2022/10/10/ukrainian-kerch-bridge/

Ok, fifteen rubles is a bit unfair. The essay has so many putinist triggers, from the fall of the Soviet empire and Boris Yeltsin all the way to Christopher Steele, that it could easily be worth 50 rubles.
