generalizing bullshit, maybe you had acted that way when you sold miners.
If one of our customers has a problem we replace the unit asap.
This means with parts from us, no shipping back to china.

Minersource, one of the biggest of all resellers screwed plenty of people. There were multiple problems with multiple other resellers of Bitmain equipment and problems with the transfer of warranties. There is significant additional risk placed on the end customer for very little benefit. And the fact that your signature advertises 3 companies, two of which don't exist and 1 which doesn't like resellers really doesn't add weight to your argument.

Update:
I tried one of my antminer 1600 watt PSUs and there was no change.  Seems weird...  I can try to contact zoomhash to see if they can offer any help.
Any other thoughts?

If you know that PSU is good then its still something power related - a short maybe. This is why resellers are a bad idea, they're buying the product exactly the same as you but passing on problems and responsibilities. Buy from the source whenever possible.

``Rated Current   108A``

Why is it 108A and not 10.8A?  I don't understand that at all.  I see that bitmain also doesn't use the decimal:

Because its rating at 12V, not 120V. I don't know what mains system you're going to use, but I know you'll be using ~12V.

See the diff rise?? That's the proof  Wink

Its not.... This announcement is based on a small number of engineering sample chips not deployment.

Will be reopening the shop soon! The chip is crazy and amazing. Anyone interested in H-cards with 16nm chips?

I think people are more interested in all the non chip parts of this, power consumption can only sell people so far.
  • What will the estimated MOQ be? $1k, $10k, $100k etc.
  • Please don't announce preorders...
  • How much engagement we will get with the community which isn't done through a PR agency?
  • How will these be sold? Please don't say system integrators and please don't say by resellers, both of which have been a detriment to end users.
  • Are they going to be priced at remotely viable levels? I'm not one to comment on profitability usually but lets at least get in the ballpark.
  • When is SoonTM, cutting through the PR when are we actually expecting products?
  • Who is going to support sales and support? Bitmain currently has droves of people doing just that and I can't see the Head of Product Development sticking about to answer 200 emails a day.
  • Will you finally release or showcase previous designs (BF3500 etc) outside of NDA? It adds credibility and trust to consumers knowing what previous machines looked like. The last thing we saw were H-boards, which while sufficient at the time are a pretty outdated design.

I feel this - like many other previous announcements - are the diamond ring at the proposal. I just hope we don't get mistreated in the rest of the marriage.

My comments posted in another thread.

Quote
SAN FRANCISCO & TBILISI, Georgia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BitFury Group, the leading Bitcoin Blockchain infrastructure provider and transaction processing company in the world today announced mass-production of its full-custom design 16nm Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) Chip, which will bring unmatched energy efficiency to the Bitcoin network.

“We have worked closely with BitFury’s experienced IC designers and we are glad to assist BitFury to achieve this outstanding result. GUC is proud that the BitFury-GUC partnership resulted in the first 16nm full custom tape-out for both parties.”
    Tweet this

After rigorous testing, the new BitFury Chip has demonstrated outstanding computing capabilities. The design target was 40 gigahash per second with power efficiency of 0.06 joules per gigahash. On average, the measured power efficiency of tested engineering samples of the new BitFury Chip ranges from 0.055 joules per gigahash to 0.07 joules per gigahash, thus making the BitFury 16nm ASIC Chip the industry leader in energy efficiency.

In addition to its outstanding power efficiency, BitFury’s 16nm ASIC Chip can run with as low as 0.35V power supply voltage. The static part of the Chip can be functional at as low as 0.28V power supply voltage. This level of productivity was previously unattainable with existing silicon devices and existing silicon design methodologies, with transistors working in active mode, not slow sub-threshold. J / Gh metric in working modes starting from 55 Gh/s up to 180 Gh/s follows an almost linear relationship of 0.0011, while at 40 – 55 Gh/s measured slope converges to plateau.

Valery Vavilov, CEO of BitFury, said: “We are very excited to launch mass production of our super 16nm ASIC Chip. The final results of our hard work have fully met our expectations. We understand that it will be nearly impossible for any older technology to compete with the performance of our new 16nm technology. As a responsible player in the Bitcoin community, we will be working with integration partners and resellers to make our unique technology widely available ensuring that the network remains decentralized and we move into the exahash era together. BitFury warmly welcomes all companies interested in joining our integration and reseller program.”

Jim Lai, President of GUC, said: “We have worked closely with BitFury’s experienced IC designers and we are glad to assist BitFury to achieve this outstanding result. GUC is proud that the BitFury-GUC partnership resulted in the first 16nm full custom tape-out for both parties.”

ADDITIONAL KEY BACKGROUND ON ASIC 16NM CHIP

Every BitFury 16nm Chip delivers a minimum of 100 gigahash per second of computing power. On average, the BitFury 16nm ASIC can compute in the range of as high as 140 gigahash per second using air cooling, and up to 184 gigahash per second using immersion cooling, which makes the BitFury custom-made silicon an absolute leader in computational efficiency per unit of silicon area.

BitFury is the first Bitcoin transaction processor that is uniquely equipped to support the continuing increase of computing power required for the upcoming “Exahash Era” – time when the Bitcoin network computing power exceeds 1,000 petahashes (quintillion hash operations) per second, as each BitFury 16nm Chip will deliver up to four times the amount of computing power at a given energy level than BitFury’s currently deployed 28nm ASIC. Thus, BitFury’s 16nm Chip will enable a significant energy efficiency and computing power improvement versus today’s competing solutions.

Staying true to our commitment to minimize our carbon footprint, BitFury continuously works to increase the energy efficiency of our data centers. The company already relies on renewable energy sources to power our data centers with less than half of the energy overhead of the leading Internet giants, and continuously seeks new ways to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions. An important step forward in this effort is BitFury’s deployment of its proprietary immersion cooling technology in its recently opened Tbilisi, Georgia, data center which supports 40 megawatts.

*All figures mentioned above were measured with real silicon samples. Mileage for production devices may vary. Thanks to the physics of silicon devices, chips may demonstrate exceptionally low power consumption, or exceptionally high compute power, but not both at the same time.

That's what I did.  I'm not sure what I'm misunderstanding?  They are plugged into my miner and I shoved my probe into the back of the plug where the contact is and grounded to the case.  I got 12V with it running and plugged in.

LEPA ATX12V/EPS12V CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Gold Certified Power Supply G1200-MA

They're made by Enermax, the same PSU company that mine fails to mine with. It will flicker on for a second then sit in an error state as it thinks the sudden rise in power consumption from the miner is a surge/overload and will shut itself down.

Unfortunately you'll likely need a different PSU.
689  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Avalon Avalon6 Setup [HD] on: December 16, 2015, 03:17:39 PM
I'm getting 12V when I test the PCI-E plugs that are plugged into the miner.

No, you need to test when they're plugged into the miner, measure another PCI-E. What PSU is it?
690  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Enermax TwisterStorm on: December 16, 2015, 02:50:43 PM
if you're planning on using it for cooling a setup 24/7. It is best to use a server fan instead of a regular computer fan as it will most likely last longer. But it will probably be louder.

Well... its got a 160k MTFB = 18 years 24/7.
691  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Avalon Avalon6 Setup [HD] on: December 16, 2015, 02:47:37 PM
I do see two ribbon cables (similar to IDE controller cables with pin 1 painted red).  They run from along the sidewalls of the case.  It's hard to see how well they are connected, though.  There is a green LED light next to them (both sides).  I'm not sure what that is indicating.  Should I pop the case off and make sure they have a good connection?

The PSU I am pretty sure on.  I jumpered the main plug from green to black and it turned on.  When I turn power on, it seems like everything is kicking on for a second and then it just goes to idle.  I can check voltages, etc. with a multimeter.  But I'm not sure what everything should be.

Sounds like PSU has some sort of load protection. Many PSUs really don't like Bitcoin mining, I have a 1500W PSU like that. PCI-E will be 12V, that'll be the easiest to test.

Here's my config:

Here's my status:
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a43/tadsligar/OpenWrt_Cgminer_Status_LuCI_2015_12_16_07_25_53.jpg

The only thing I wasn't sure on was the password.  But there definitely has to be something in there and it didn't seem to matter what.
Another thing is that when I received this unit, it appeared to be used.  I don't know if that's typical.  I bought from zoomhash and the rasperrypi came pre-loaded.  I figured out how to log into it with putty, but no clue what to try with that.  Thanks again for all your help!

Network and config are fine, looks like its not playing nice with its modules. Are you sure the PSU is on and the modules are powered up? If you shine a light through the front grill, are you able to see two ribbon cables looking roughly connected from the boards to the top sub-controller board?

-snip-

Looks like it.

Ahh bad bear thats the one that refused to delete my info for the past 2 years. Now i remember.
If the information that was posted in these forums is obtainable online (i.e. public) then there is no reason to remove it. Why should we? Anyone could find it again with a simple google search (this is usually what a DOX contains).

Sometimes it is, sometimes its not but there's no point claiming that because the admins aren't acting on it regardless. I can't think of a dox which has ever been deleted on here other than Theymos' even though there are apparently multiple conditions under which doxes are deleted.

No, I'm not sure how to connect to the RaspberryPi. The controller version is blank.  I think that's part of the problem.
Click on Advanced version and give me screenshots of Cgminer configuration and Cgminer status please.

I don't know the corsairs much, but if they come from the same High quality OEM, like superflower or Seasonic, there would be 0 problem doing this.
1000W is their strict 24/7 rating, they've got another 10%+ in peak so its not even close to their limits yet. Non Americans don't have access to an economical >1000W PSU so the RM1000 variants are the best answer.

dogie is pretty annoying, now that I come to think of it.

Its like you have two settings:
   1. Everything is a conspiracy
   2. Everything is a conspiracy and all I do is complain and flame people
697  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Avalon Avalon6 Setup [HD] on: December 16, 2015, 04:10:54 AM
Thank you for this wonderful guide.  I was able to follow it completely.  However, my system just sits idle.  I'm a miner newbie.  I set up my first miner last night, an antminer S7, with the help of another of your guides.  That one was much easier, no issue at all.  This one I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.  I tried different pools, etc.  It isn't giving me a status at all.  My miner isn't doing anything but blinking yellow. Sad

Any ideas would be most appreciated.  Thanks!

Yellow typically indicates an idle status. Are you able to connect to the RaspberryPi? Able to post a picture of config and status pages?
698  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Forum DDoS Attacks, why are they done? on: December 15, 2015, 04:21:43 AM
My question: why would someone o it on the forum?

Same reason as for exchanges, pools etc - extortion. Lose short term income while the site is down (no ads) and long term patronage.... or pay me.

Going a little off the deep into tin foil land aren't we?

He asked why things are DDOSed, I explained the reasons why things are DDOsed. There is no conspiracy involved.

... and provides it to the software, so it should be pretty quick to update it over time, or provide other variants or custom trust lists.

how often is going to update drawings? when to wait for the new drawer?
regards

I take a look at the trust list dumps and very little is changing week to week. So maybe every 3 months unless there is a big change, or a need to see the impact of a big change.
just bump, that is not forgotten Smiley

Its not forgotten, I just don't think much has changed. The trust dump file has increased from 234kb to 250kb in 3 months, a 7% increase. When it gets significant enough I'll run it all again.

Do you think i should try reseating the outside heatsinks ?

I wouldn't waste your time on this, its such a small amount of hash rate that is likely unrecoverable anyway. There isn't even anything you can do for dead chips but see if it spontaneously resolves itself.
