1361  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S5 Setup [HD] on: June 27, 2015, 09:59:22 AM
hi! everyone Smiley

got a problem one of my S5.

- when i start it the red light blink once then afterwards the yellow light is on. but it's not hashing anymore.
- im using 750w psu all good i tried it on another s5 its working.
- when i do ip scan i can't detect the ip scan of the broken s5 and i cant do a hard reset on it. after pressing
it for 10 secs nothing happens.

anyone got a similar problem and got a solution please help me

thanks in advance

What is the make and model of the PSU?

i'm using 750w FSP - http://www.fsplifestyle.com/product.php?LID=1&PSN=384

any way to get the ip address on my s5? seems i can't get it with the normal ip scan program i use.
and i can't hard reset the unit

Doesn't sound like something that can be fixed, the controller appears to be bricked. Create a ticket at bitmain.zendesk.com to arrange to return the controller.

Confirmed.. cannot complete order due to drop down not showing a shipping method.

edit, its a bug on the site.. if you choose alternate shipping address. then go back to your original one you can choose and complete order.

Enter again all you shipping data and it will work, same problem at me too.

Reported up the chain, thanks.

1364  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 26, 2015, 08:07:45 PM
One guy over in the "Group Buy" sub-forum suggested that it would take well over 386 YEARS to break even in terms of the miner cost. That was with the usual fantasy provisions of "free electricity and no difficulty changes".

While I expected a "premium" price, this is more "Extreme Premium" pricing.

Sounds like someone can't count then :s Under those conditions even a U3 would make $18,000 in that time.

1366  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 25, 2015, 09:21:46 PM
There is another option that occurs to me. Sfards could partner with Bitmaintech for a new gen Antminer powered by the sfards chips... Their announcement was vague enough that this could already be the case. Two chinese companies will already understand the dynamics of price wars AND collaboration. Both have been quite successful in their niches (yes, I realise that Sfards is technically a new company, but it's built on Gridseed's proven record).

That's not going to happen. Each mining company only has value if their chips are good. Investing in another's chips means you're not investing in your own, which means you will eventually fail. Its all about chips, chips, chips. You've also got the case where when you have the best chips, you sure as hell aren't going to share them.
1367  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntMiner APW3-12-1600 PSU Series on: June 25, 2015, 09:19:25 PM
Please shed some light, I just wanna know if I'm gonna use this APW3-12-1600 PSU to my antminer S4 (Terminal type) the 1st batch of S4, there is a big difference when it comes to the switch of power supply.
My question is how am I gonna power up this power supply without power button, unlike in my 1st batch S4 it has a builtin power switch with the PSU.

Thanks & best regards, kae1078

Its auto on, which means when you provide it mains power its already on. Think of it like a phone charger, if you plug it in its just on.
1368  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: June 25, 2015, 08:29:43 PM
if they dont release a miner that is more efficient and half the cost.. its not going to be worth buying.
Ha!!  Don't get your hopes up on the bolded part, I think it'll be a cold day in hell before that happens.

I'm expecting to see the S7 somewhere around 0.4w/gh efficiency.  If they keep the same PCB layout and number of chips I'd figure they'd be hitting around 1.35-1.4TH/s for about the same power draw, basically just upping the efficiency by 20%.  I expect the price to be over $400 when released, just like the S5 was when it was first released.

If they don't beat those numbers by a larger margin, I honestly don't see mass sales.  Anyone with >0.7w/gh and expensive power I could see them pulling the trigger and doing an upgrade, but I really can't see many with S5's feeling the need to immediately upgrade, even those with not great power costs.  Those with free or cheap power it doesn't make much sense to upgrade anything newer than an S4 I would think (unless the price is, as you hoped, halved).

I Hope the S7 is Quiet like the Avalon 4.1s
Going by past BM designs, doubtful.

i can barely hear my s3s.. i think they screwed up on the s5. the BM1384 has so much potential. if they took the time to engineer something for it, it could have been twice as efficient and probably just as quiet as the s3.

i hope someone finds a way to undervolt them and get them to run at .3/ghs like they said they could, the chart is still on the first page even.

I absolutely agree with the S5 could have been quieter, and that the S3 was perfectly fine for home use. Playing devil's advocate, power density did nearly double in the S5 compared to the S3 which would explain a portion of it.
1369  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: June 25, 2015, 07:08:42 AM

this is a reply someone set me in a pm when I asked the question about switching back and forth between "PPS when luck is bad" and "PPLNS when luck is good".

Luck is a measurement of the past.

If a pool's luck right now is 200% ... it is just as possible it may never find a block ever again ... as a pool with luck right now of 1%

In simplest terms ... fools chase luck.

That is entirely correct. Finding a block is an independent event such that your previous attempts to find one have no impact on your future attempts to find one. So a pool on 1% luck is just as likely to find another block as a pool on 1000% luck.

Ok...

All other things being equal, and a bit of a derail. But... Why the HELL is eleuthria's trust rating so low? Mine is higher, and I mostly just talk.

Because all of my feedback is from people that are "untrusted" in the default trust chain.  And people just don't seem to use the trust system for pool ops.
There, gave you some more positive Smiley

Same, welcome to green town.

Trying to set a low withdrawal limit I get: "There was an error updating the database. Please try again after a few seconds."

For some reason its displaying as 0.00 yet I didn't set that, and there is still some ~dust sitting in there. Any ideas?
1372  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 24, 2015, 05:31:45 AM
Well if it makes $8/day now most likely it will be $8 X 60 or 90 days which has been the norm for the last few products.

It will cost between $480 - $720, so likely somewhere in between.
I'd expect more.

I'm predicting double S5 price
Sounds about right, if not a bit more. Shipping will be different between the two as the S5 weighs 3.4kg boxed, and this looks about the same (if not more) than a Rockminer T1 which was about 13kg.

hashcoins.com is unavailable. it could be that the end is near....

Works fine for me.
1374  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: June 24, 2015, 01:43:20 AM

Go right ahead. me its included in my lease agreement so I am not stealing so there is no crime.

do whatever floats your boat.

i would check over that lease agreement.
im guessing somewhere in there it says that if your power increases too much your rent will go up or you will get kicked out.

only an idiot would rent out a place and not put something in there like that.

Even if its not specifically stated, there are fair use precedents. For example set by the guy who was selling 'his' free electricity back to the network to collect a cheque, to pay the rent.
1375  Other / Meta / Re: [Request] Regarding the recent hack. on: June 24, 2015, 01:37:19 AM
I would like to ask theymos to introduce a field in the profile panel where we could check all the information that got leaked during the hack.

I 'm mostly concerned about registration and last ip address used because it could be used to associate alt accounts.
Many of us use alt accounts for participating in signature giveaways (people often auto-ignore those who use ads in their sigs), or just to be able to express some thoughts more freely (no one wants an angry mob against him just because he called a scam-coin... scam-coin  Tongue ).

The hacker now has more information about my accounts than me and this makes me feel very uncomfortable.

Thank you.

Ps. For obvious reasons i'm using a new account for this post.  Cheesy

Isn't this a theoretical worry, on the database coming into public hands? Which doesn't seem to have yet, probably still floating around some hacker forum.
1376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese Mining mogul FriedCat has stolen more than a million in AM hash SCAM on: June 24, 2015, 01:21:30 AM
Here is another pic of Rock Xie I found in another thread...

He is standing with Spondoolies-Tech CEO Guy Corem. Interestingly there is not a single -ve feedback from our trusted members on FriedCat's profile so far =>  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=49840
All these big time Bitcoin stealers are tiny guys, like Karpeles. I hope no one spots them in real life.
Rockxie + rockminer got just as screwed as all of us, they're now worth almost $0 and their team of 1X didn't get paid for months of work. They are not the enemy here.

Didn't someone suggest that FriedCat went to work for BitFury?
I wonder what thief shareholders would think of having a thief and turncoat in thief employ?
Not a chance that's true, not a chance.

How do you have so much info about Rock Xie ?

I worked with their team through Rockminer product launch, then ongoing while they still made miners.

All miners use at least a portion of his code, so that's not really possible. We implicitly trust him, like we implicitly trust Theymos by using the forum.

Wait, you're serious, right ?

Assuming you're not trolling, yes. We implicitly trust Theymos by using this forum.
1380  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S5 Setup [HD] on: June 23, 2015, 03:31:26 AM
I received my S5 on Thursday. Plugged it in and board one was DOA, shows all dashes.  Followed some guides from the internet could not revive the board. I then contacted Bitmain about the dead board. Bimain had me do all the things I already tried which did not work of course. Now they expect my to pay to ship their defective board back out of my pocket to determine if the board is defective or if there was "improper use".

Bottom line, avoid this company, buy a different ASIC.

I've passed it up the line, it might not affect your case but will try and get the policy changed.
