Yeah the price is high but right now GPUs are getting sold out everywhere. Look at ebay even. People paying $160 for a 7950.
Thats a much better deal than this. 7970 dont do so well in mining Eth. But 7990 also sell for quite a bit more than 1 BTC on Ebay.

No big deal! It was nice almost doing business with you. I figured $10 was decent given that I was trekking out to Gatineau, but if they're that cheap locally then there's no real point. Good luck with building your mining rig. Well, i mean Online, ebay. Shipped to here. As in domestically. Locally there's nothing here. But thanks. No point in Trekking here if you have stuff though, you can just slap them them in regular post enveloppe for like 1$.

USB Risers were introduced after I started GPU mining so I never used them but I never had a single issue with the ribbon risers.
And yes you can get them cheap from China but it will take 3-4 weeks to receive and by that time ETH mining might not be profitable anymore. If you buy from Canada you would get it in a couple days even.
I once even bought a riser locally at a huge inflated price of $20/each because everyday that the GPU was unplugged, was $10 of losses per day.
Time is money also
It took me 1-2 weeks so far (or would be less if you buy a big lot and get same week shipping) but sure. Regardless; They're still available locally in Canada at 6-8$ each from retail. I'd buy those before buying ribbons ones at 10CAD, but either way, i'm not in desperate need. But i do use them when i run out of USB ones until i receive the USB ones. Anyhow i've sourced enough for my immediate use. Thanks to those i've dealt with so far. But i will need more soon, so i'll continue buying at a small markup over China. Just not 500% markup. Getting the frames is much harder than the risers, alas.

I have some powered USB risers I used for a few months. How many you need?
10 to 50 depending on their location and price. You should check us out We have risers and dual PSU adapters in stock and ready to ship from our California warehouse. https://www.hashratestore.com/Replied. Also now interested in picking up one Cheap (probably used) LGA 1150 CPU with or without heatsink. PM if you have one for sale. Thanks. I am still interested, let me know if anyone has any of this available.

He posted here before the info on the motherboards and everything but the prices aren't that great for used motherboards.
I was thinking the same thing for the mobo kits. Thats about twice the price i got from buying on Ebay and 3 time the price i got from buying used here. But i'd probably take the GPUs. I just have no interest in dealing with a shady website's escrow. He posted here before the info on the motherboards and everything but the prices aren't that great for used motherboards.
Ah, I must have missed them. I think the prices are good considering that you get a CPU + ram with the motherboards. If you're willing to deal through here, appolo, I'd take the Z77A-GD65 and possibly the 7950. Well if you say so, you can get a full used kit for 30-40$ in the US for AM3, with 5 slots.

I have a S5 which sensors just keep going up and up and up, start at same temp from the other board and after a day or two its 20c higher. Laser thermometer says every chips are cool and i dont see any hot spot.
Anyone has a picture of the board that show where the sensor is? IIRC i can put thermal paste on it for the temp to go down? Maybe i'd get more leeway if its not 100% broken.
Temp sensor IC is the one right in the middle with 8 legs, U1 - LM75A . http://www.slotforum.com/forums/uploads/1439724411/gallery_2150_2322_641456.jpgRich Thanks, in lieu of this information, i lasered the sensors exactly. The top of the chips are one side 35C, other side 40C. Sound like a normal temp difference. I think its safe to assume the sensor is busted? (Software read 52C and 78C) I dont think pasting it will do anything since its so cold. Maybe disable the over 80C overheat protection? Or is there a better trick?

Hi
I am conducting research into the cost of mining a block and the effect this cost has on transaction fees.
Please let me know in this topic whether you are interested.
http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator has your answer. And its random, finding a single block that is. So it could be seconds, or years for a single person. No idea what you mean by "effect of finding a block on transactions fees" a single block doesn't change much, but it will include TXs out of the mempool, if several blocks are found in quick succession, lower TX fee may more easily be included at that time, but it doesn't change the TX fee overall. And the TX fee is not arbitrary, you could try a TX with 0 fee as well, or 1BTC.

In my opinion these rigs are all very badly designed because only the first card will be kept cool while the ones behind it will overheat.
The best is to use a large milk crate or shopping cart where you can hang the GPUs at different heights. So one GPU isn't feeding hot air into the next one.
Its not been a problem with my rigs. And if you run them in a hot environment, what you typically do is have a box fan blowing between the GPU's. But with outdoor ranging at 0-10C so far its not a problem. I need box fans in the window to create airflow however and i think i need new, less noisy one. (As in they vibrate a lot even though i'm using absorbant padding and i can hear them through the walls/ground/bed.

150 is too much, if you consider shipping, i can pay 100 at max no more sry
Definitively buy from Ebay before paying 150$ + materials + shipping. Can find metal ones for 100$ + ship on Ebay.

It's too late for home mining, you realize btc has been around for almost 8 years? Joing now makes you a bag-holder. Do Not Buy, btc or miners. Stay away. You can thank me later.
Considering its possible for some to get 1-2 months ROI, your generalized comment is not a very good one. It all depend on how much you pay for your electricity. If its free or near free, then its absolutely possible to make great profit with mining BTC even if one gets in now. I see these comments about very short ROI (aka Break Even) times of 2 months, and wonder what all the items are that are required to have that happen. So I went to my favorite bitcoinwisdom calculator, and started plugging in zeros for a variety of items to see about an S7. Based on 4700 GH, zero electricity costs, no maintenance costs, delivery today, no difficulty changes, a 1% pool fee, and a price of $665 with no shipping costs. I saw that it had paid for itself roughly in mid-June, prior to the halving. Of course if the price on your S7 held up well, perhaps you could sell it for say $300. You better sell it then because the "halving" can't be avoided or "wished away" like I did with all the other fantasy numbers. Maybe you can also assume Bitmain will sell you an S7 for $500 TODAY, which helps you make the numbers. Given that quite rosy scenario, your return would almost certainly be higher by just buying $665 in BTC today and selling at your projected higher price in two months. Please show me the math that produces a 60 day ROI time for somebody. Of course if in your universe, most of the above is true, you'll do quite well. Try with a 25$ Antminer S3? 100$ Antminer S5? 5$ Antminer S1. We're talking free or near free electricity here, why would you pick the S7 for your ROI math? Its not magical math. 1 or 2 Months ROI is about picking the right investment.

How much is the S1? I'm looking to gift a miner to one of my friends and I just need a s1.
Dunno, make an offer. If shipped outside Canada, its probably not worth it. could be interested in A6. Pm me the price I'd rather take offers for now as i dont really need to sell those yet. They're not a problem to keep, the S5/S7 are. But if offered a price similar to a S7, i may take it.

Thanks for the tip. I checked each chip and they range anywhere between 59C - 38C (of course the ones closest to the fan were coolest). Overall, one board is definitely running hotter than the other but none of them reflected the 90C temps that the miner dashboard was showing. At this point, it looks like a busted sensor. Ideally, I'd rather not have the fan running at full speed especially when it's not needed. Any ideas on replacing the sensor or manually reducing fan speed? Thanks again for the help.
Miner Configuration -> General Settings -> Customize the fan speed percentage -> # If you do not have that option you will need to flash the firmware to the latest version; https://www.bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=00720150101032800325X8cMcY2y068FYou upload the tarball, you dont extract it.

Kano sounds good... should I mine direct or create an account? The landing page mentions using an API... a little beyond my understanding. Advice?
You're looking way too far into available features, just stick to the instructions we gave you. API is for devs, it has absolutely nothing to do with you setting up your miner(s). Just put your username or addy as instructed and mine on. Dont forget to put x or anything else as password.

Keep in mind with 6 gpu you may need 2 power supplies. Really try p.v.c. and 2 hours of your time. It will take a couple days to work all the kinks out of the rig and software.
When you need 10 of these, it gets very time consuming. I'm thinking of doing one out of wood, though. The PVC i found was expensive and not solid enough, as in it would bend. I could maybe transition to Aluminium later but. Yeah i'd rather fork over 50$.
