I am wondering, are there still AntMiner S7 coupon circulating or being handed out by Bitmains for the previous batch misshaps? Or are they all expired by now, as the base price of the S7 itself has been dropping?

Your S7 may last anywhere from 1 Day to 2 Years. There's no QC, these Chinese manufacturers just make'em and ship'em. With diff rocketing up and the halfing in 7 months, chances are your S7 will become obsolete before they break down.
Whaaa? You mean the QC sticker they put on it means nothing? I'd think they boot the thing to see if it runs, but i have to agree i not thinking so very strongly. They do start them up on all I think. Some get a "burn-in" where they truly run them but I don't think all miners get this. Some get quick test and shipped. Others could be in data center for a while if batch does not sell quick. It's kinda funny now talking about no QC running them not long enough, as a year ago most would be talking about miners being used to long on "burn-in's". Having a used ASIC is not really that bad, it kind of feel to me that if its been running stable for a while, it will be fine, as long as you use a proper PSU and a surge protector anyways. Haven't had anything break on me, yet, beside surge protectors.

I've downloaded the blockchain, and it looks as if I've got a couple of addresses. Now how do I test things? Do I join a faucet, and see if I get a transfer?
You could buy Bitcoin or a small miner. It would take a long time to accumulate enough dust to be able to pay the transaction fee. Then you could send BTC to your addresses to "test things".

If you have the right amount of money to be invested in renewable energy.. You can get free energy..
Its not free if you had to invest money in order to get it. To get free electricity, you need to find a deal where you pay a flat access to your electricity(Included in rent that you need anyways) and then consuming more electricity does not cost more money. By saying that, do you mean that he can get electricity on rent and then get access to more electricity even at the same rates??? Yes, electricity is included in my rent, so if i put 5kW on miners, i pay the same monthly rent as if i have 0kW on miners. Otherwise electricity cost is under 0.06, which is very cheap still. (Up to 30kW)

Yes, it s classic cloud mining service, at least it was when I used to use them.
So the gh/s will earn bitcoins for me? How is it possible you have 112 posts and you know nothing about cloud mining? Have you purchased that account or what? I have not bought this account because my password never changed. I know what cloud mining is, but some websites only allow gh/s to trade them and not actually to mine them. @VirosaGITS, thank you for the reply. I will buy a few gh/s from them and hope to get some profit. Why would you trade ghs if you cannot use them for mining? What s the purpose of buying or owning those ghs?? Never heard of any website like that. Ghash.io has GH/s that the mining was disabled because profitability was too low. People still trade them in the hope that they will be worth something in the future, since BTC profitability went much higher. However when it was very profitable to turn them back on, nothing happened, so...

Hi! I have been mining in my Dorm for more than a month I just have a slight problem now, my Antminer S3+ fan is kinda noisy now, and I am afraid my next door cant sleep. So the main question is, can I replace the stock fans with a Corsair SP120? Its the only silent fan I can see here in the malls. and by the way, Is it possible that my miner can burst into flames and take down my dorm? Im afraid that will happen in the future. For those who dont know the story yet, Im mining in my dorm because I got free Electricity and Internet Connection, So Im taking advantage Sorry for my very Bad English Thanks advance for the help and God Bless!!!!! Yes you can, it should be fine because the fan will spin up to keep the temp much lower than it need to be. Sure the miner could burn up if there was some massive electric spike. You probably have a surge protector, right? But i mean if this happen, your miner probably won't be the only thing blowing up. Might take a while to recoup the costs of the fans, though. Anyways, if they,re the performance edition, the one that has the best cfm/pressure, this should work pretty fine. Hi VirosaGITS! Thank you very much for your reply. Yep, I already bought a surge protector. So can I leave my miner in my dorm without worrying fire hazard? By the way, does the miner turn off automatically if hit certain temperature? Sorry for my Bad English Thanks advance and God Bless!!!!! Its supposed to when it reach 80c but i would not thrust that much. And you'll be able to tell by the temps it gives you. Machines make the fastest reaction/decision, but sound human judgment is best. Specially when the code is buggy.

Looking to buy my first miner! anyone got one of these? or something similar.
I live in the UK
Thanks
Craggy!
You should make sure its okay for you to mine in the first place. People in the UK and Europe tend to have excessively high electricity rate cost. If you're above 0.10$/kWh, don't bother mining at home. If you then still want to try it out to figure it out, something that won't really take electricity is something like the "Gekko Sidehack stick". Its an usb stick.

There isn't a web order portal for the Denver gear right?
it is completely unclear why it is not feasible for bitmain to organize a shipping center in Denver. Send 100 miners to Denver at the time (or whatever the pallet number is), then have a web page accepting orders. people can surely appreciate shipment from Denver to US for $15 instead of $51 from Shenzen. Charge another $15 for handling and everyone will like it. Paypal adds 6% fee on top of the Bitmain price which I think is reasonable especially since I would get my AMEX purchase protection. Just waiting to find out if the price includes shipping or not. I'm thinking of ordering the next batch 9 via this Denver location to avoid any snafu with Custom.
they add 6% to paypal? wow paypal fee is 2.9% plus few cents (30c?) as far as I remember And 2% for converting currency. So with paypal if you receive let say USD and you have a CAD account, you will be paying an extra 2% for conversion, but you wanted to send USD, so you will have to convert CAD back to USD so another 2%. That extra 2% is a hidden fee, its not a "fee" but "Paypal's exchange rate for X Currency." is always 2% under actual. So pretty rough to buy S7's with Paypal. And the other problem is that its not going to be that much cheaper because they will have to markup the S7's in the US because of import tax and shit. In the end, seeing how Bitmain likes to mark up everything, you'll be paying a 30% premium total.

Well unless you refuse offers with Escrow, i don't think you will have a problem with appearing as a scammer. So don't worry about it.

The noise should not be a problem. I am thinking of buying 10 s7 and go from there.
But my concern is more the requirements that I must have in the garage to make sure I am efficient, like the electricity requirements & equipment, all i know is that our plugs here are 120v, i am beginner when it comes to that. I know mining is not plug and play so i definitely have to do some home work but some guidance would really help.
Well you'll be loading up 116amp there. Most importantly you will be needing airflow management, otherwise your garage is going to turn into a furnace. And then also; You will need the PSUs, surge protectors, network cabling etc. And if 80-90dB is not a problem (beside the fact it would tear your eardrums if you stay next to it for too long) then cheers. If you have more specific question, i'm listening.

hi guys , we are seting up a small farm with 30 s7s
i just have a question that bother me and is [ how long can last s7s in a nice enviroment[
also i would like to know if some one can let me know if there are some other hardware with more power than s7s
thank you
My Antminer S1 are still working as well. If you have a good unit, i'm guessing it will last longer than you need it to. Or you could have a bad one and it could break at any time. There are hardware with more Hashrate than the S7 but that does not mean its a better option. Also trying to get something like a SP50 is pointless unless you have a datacenter setup.

So the gh/s will earn bitcoins for me? Well, a little, until it is expended. You need to check how much it would really earn, but it would not be comparable to how much you would make if you mined at home on a good electricity rate.

3.6 Btc shipped inside Eu, escrow with OgNasty, shipping on monday.
No need of psu.
If it's fine I'll take it.
I have sent you message. I didn't got it. He sent it to me. I'll forward it to you. Don't forget to use escrow.
|
|
|
Will you accept escrow? Gets rid of the need for the "half before / half after" aspect that only benefits you. Escrow would protect both the buyer and you.
I dont have any expirience using escrow service yet... but I think it would be possible. Then check this one out; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303281.0Fund is held by this 3rd party until your transaction has been completed correctly.

sound logically that next gen to be after halving. maybe even in 2017 if condition arise!
There's going to be 0.06 stuff before then, from gridseed i think and they're not the only ones working on "next-gen stuff". With Bitmain's motto being cheap and loud, i'm not sure they are going to beat that, but we'll see. Bitmain is quiet on it's R/D. I would not count them out they have huge resources, they are not going anywhere. What stuff are you referring to on gridseed? I was thinking they are now SFARDS and have been mining internally. On the .06 if Bitfury does have it that does put them at a big advantage. First one always has big advantage. It is and they don't really need to "release it". It kinda only make sense to sell hardware that will be obsolete in the near future. The home miner is a small cut of the pie anyways, so i'm not sure what's Bitmain's real gameplan anyways. What gridseed stuff are you talking about though? I thought they were now SFARDS, and they had a dual miner. But they did not produce a ton. We know of a big batch for internal. And possibly a second batch for internal or big buyer, we never knew really what happened on second big batch just that it did not go public. Current Gridseed stuff is at 0.2J/GH, few months ago they announced 0.06J/GH, in September i think, i can't find the original place where i read it. This is the only mention of it i can find on short notice; BitFury Group Unknown a 2015-Sep-02 16nm 0.06J/Gh chip . BitFury Group considers this their Gen 5 product. Date is public announcement of tape-out date. This chip is planned for the future and specifications are highly subject to change. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/List_of_Bitcoin_mining_ASICsTho the current gen Gridseed stuff is not available to public, so i have doubt the 16nm gen will be.

Hi everyone, I've been reading various posts on the forum relating to antminer gear. I'm aiming to use antminer u2's and a u3 for ease and because I'm just dabbling with it for a bit of fun and "trying my luck" as others have done. I intend to use bitminter pool and connect the U2's to a powered usb hub and run them through the bitminter interface. The questions I have are:- 1) can I run the U3 through cgminer and have it connect to the bitminter pool while I run the U2's through the hub and interface? 2) if I were to swap the U2's out for another U3 could I run it through the same cgminer as the first one or would I need to run two copies of it? I understand these questions are probably very basic to you all, but I have tried searching through the forum for the answers but I haven't seen a definitive answer, well I probably have but my brain has been bamboozled by all the info. I will have more questions in time as any newbie does but I will endeavour to find the answers first before I waste all your time Thanks. 1)Yes you can connect 100% independent miners to the same pool/account. 2)Yes if they are on the same computer, you can use the same instance. I don't know what the limit of miner per mining instance but its much more than 2.

So how are you are running these undervolted? You have some special PSU that runs at 10Volts? Aren't those noisy and expensive?
I have two systems. First I have a pair of Meanwell 5V PSU's in series, these allow me to adjust between 9V & 12V Second I have a Server PSU with a Buck Converter on the output, and can set any voltage with that. Neither solution is expensive or more noisy than other PSU. Various pictures & information in this thread. Rich Anyone to use a regular computer PSU ? You can do it but you'll have 12v output so you will need to use buck converter and i don't know if you can make these adjustable. Meanwhile you can get server PSU with an adjustable volt pot so you can get exactly the volt output you need without going through a gadget.
