821  Other / Meta / Re: Trust system abuse / DT2 member Vod is provably dishonestly rating people on: August 01, 2018, 11:49:19 PM
Bump.

Ideas are needed to make trust system better. As said before, I think adding more DT1 members would improve the situation. Of course that drops the "trustness" as perceived e.g. by forum staff, but on the other hand the trust system is supposed to be used in a way where people should make their own trust lists/networks instead of trusting default trust list. In a way, adding more DT1 members would improve both of these goals: there would be less fear of getting e.g. "dropped" (from the DT list) for arbitrary/silly reasons, more decentralization (wider amount of people "in charge") etc. AND people would want to adjust / make own trust lists because they would detect *individual* wrongdoing making them want to correct it. Such "individual wrongdoing" doesn't affect many in the current system, so it is largely dismissed in the community.
Maybe there should be official guidelines about the *community acceptable* use of trust system. Then people would better know how to use the trust system. E.g. will you rate or will you not rate, who will you exclude, who will you not. Do you want to signal others something or do you want to record something for your own information, what are the "offences" to earn red trust, what means getting positive trust --and so on.

As an example (my personal experience) about the problems, there's this case where Vod rates me provably dishonestly. He also claims other things and presents no evidence, proof or anything to back those claims. And he blackmailed me. Vods standing in the DT system is too strong as people who have added him there are either inactive or do not care. This means that Vod can keep on doing whatever he wants, and everyone knows it. It shouldn't be like this. One shouldn't be able to freely harass others as a salary for doing good deeds for the community. Red trust from DT1/DT2 member has (or can have) significant negative effect on the target, that's the reality right now.
For adding more DT1 members, theymos needs to personally trust people. And, no one has been added in DT1 for months now, if not years. DeaDTerra was removed from DT1.  theymos wants it to be decentralized but the trust system is broken, and I am no fan of it. Its used for everything but for what it was initially intended for, which is both good and bad. People rely on the trust system when not required, and don't rely on it when its most required. Some people actually want TheOldScammerTag to come back. That would make the trusts system to be centralized, but I would say its no different than the current "decentralized" trust system.

Of course that drops the "trustness" as perceived e.g. by forum staff, but on the other hand the trust system is supposed to be used in a way where people should make their own trust lists/networks instead of trusting default trust list.
What do you mean by this, emphasis on the "trustness as perceived e.g. by forum staff". I find it a little hard to comprehend, as I am not a native English speaker.
822  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: jeremypwr Bitcasino.io and Sportsbet.io Extortion, campaign mismanagement & scam on: August 01, 2018, 11:22:36 PM
Alright WaffleMaster, stop spamming your images in Reputation, Scam Accusation, Gambling, Services, and Meta. You are cross-posting and you could at least get temp-banned for that, for all I know.

For the millionth time, you weren't scammed, nor were you extorted. Nowhere in the campaign thread were you guaranteed to get 960$ or get paid for all 8 weeks. Stop using half meanings here. I totally see Jeremypwr removed you, and that's totally acceptable. Go get yourself drunk and throw up,you'd feel better. All that shit crazy anger would get out of your head.

Like stedsm said, @Jerermypwr, don't ask users to delete their posts. They can make how much ever posts they want. Just count 8 of them.
823  Other / Meta / Re: My account was banned for "Running an on-forum altcoin giveaway / Incentivising" on: August 01, 2018, 10:02:26 PM
I could wait 30 days but my thread has been deleted as well.
Is there any way to shorten the ban and return the thread? How can I contact Mod to find out more as they PRV are disabled;/
You can't. You broke the rules. Read the rules, I am not gonna link them. Find it by yourself, if you come to meta, you can find the rules to. Perhaps the mods will answer you, perhaps not.
824  Other / Meta / Re: My account was banned for "Running an on-forum altcoin giveaway / Incentivising" on: August 01, 2018, 09:52:51 PM
Ok, so I guess the ban is related to the Airdrop we performed in January.
It was 7 months ago and I just don't understand why the ban has been received now and the thread has been completely deleted?
Or the ban is for any other recent post?
Forgive me but I'm lost...
Because someone might have reported it now. I cannot tell if you were banned for someother post , only mod/s can. But since you agree that you participated/held an on-forum altcoin giveaway, I assume that's why you're banned. Just wait it out. Or give your profile link for people to tell any other that you might have been banned for. But I would seriously ask you to wait it out.
825  Other / Meta / Re: My account was banned for "Running an on-forum altcoin giveaway / Incentivising" on: August 01, 2018, 09:34:58 PM
Read this:

Most giveaway threads are no longer allowed in the Alternate cryptocurrencies sections. From now on, posting or replying to such threads could result in being banned. Existing threads will be locked.

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

Similar threads are already restricted to Games and Rounds in the non-altcoin sections, but the giveaway-related post volume is so high in the altcoin sections that I've decided to just ban them entirely here.

Is it really that hard to read the stickies? I am surprised you didn't get perma banned.
826  Other / Meta / Re: How recognized are you in the bitcointalk world? on: August 01, 2018, 08:34:51 PM
Idk if this is an issue or not, I don't see a lot of names, after doing Ctrl+F,like say hilariousetc or HCP and the highest rank I see is 921 Huh ?

Interestingly at least 725 members that are most "recognized" are Legendary members.

Vod, the new site looks pretty cool and is user friendly. Nice job.
827  Economy / Reputation / Re: Campaign Management Gone Wrong (Bitcasino.io) on: August 01, 2018, 04:42:18 PM
Okay, you're doing too much. What are you, digaran's bitch? jk.

On a more serious note, you weren't scammed. Not for 1$ ,and definitely not for 840/960$. Both of the parties involved did questionable things here. You, are twisting words and causing a ruckus here and blackmailed him that you'd open a "Scam Accusation" case against him. Jeremypwr, made a mistake and admitted it. Where he is actually wrong is, him asking you to delete your posts. That is not extortion, he gets nothing from it, not directly at least. Its sort of blackmail. And he should explained why he removed you, it would have made things a little clearer, although he doesn't has to.

The best case scenario here: WaffleMaster gets his money for the last week if he hasn't yet and Jeremypwr and WaffleMaster both apologize to each other for their wrongdoings.

And that sig of yours, that's some next level butthurt trolling.
828  Economy / Reputation / Re: Mr and Mrs Creampie Cumshot merit spitballing on: July 31, 2018, 11:00:44 PM
Hello,i thought that multiple accounts are allowed here? from your own kind words https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4624272.msg41758691#msg41758691 as long as you dont abuse bounties right? these are just my alts and you can tag them with neutral trust if you suspecting that i am going to abuse bounties but as long i dont please spare my babies.i only use mr.creampie because i do love pussies.
Quoted. Archived.

You can have alts, but you're not allowed to send merits to your alts. Now can you tell which accounts are yours, so that they could be given neutral tag. Grin
829  Other / Meta / Re: Introducing Achievements on: July 30, 2018, 10:16:57 PM
sI don't see any good reason for post badges, merit badges, and staff/moderator/Global moderator badges. People can see who has received merits and who has increased their activity and who is staff and Global mods. All moderators are staff but all staff aren't moderators, 3 of them are patrollers.

I like the campaign manager badge idea, but it would be subjective and it won't derive the best result. And reporter badge are already on its way.
830  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos: Are you working on the live server? Please let us (me) know on: July 30, 2018, 03:36:32 PM
No, I only use this PC for my BitcoinTalk account. I already changed everything (password for my email, bitcoinTalk, my hosting password, activated 2FA etc, every possible stuffs).

Thing is I changed them after I received the email here. Then I was doing other stuffs, actually replying marlboroza (composing the message). When I compose I basically do preview every now and then, that time when I click preview then it was asking me to login again. It stopped my heartbeat for few seconds. Immediately, I tried to login and it was a success.

That bought me this thinking that if theymos is actually working on the server? My credentials were secured earlier than this happened.

I removed my secret question long ago when I learnt that recovering an account using security question eventually locks an account.
You might want to change the email for your bitcointalk account. When you changed your password and logged in again, you might have forgotten to click the Always logged in button. I don't really think theymos is working on a server, maybe its an hacking attempt on your account. Only theymos can address the real issue behind, until you don't have much to do other than changing your email.
831  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos: Are you working on the live server? Please let us (me) know on: July 30, 2018, 02:32:02 PM
Did you log out of any other device that you might have possibly logged in? That's the only case where you get logged out, unless you're hacked. Change your email and password if you haven't. And also, remove the secret question if you have kept it, its a big vulnerability.
832  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM ALERT!!! Lost 0.08 BTC [Please stay safe] on: July 30, 2018, 02:13:40 PM
I am so sorry for what happened to you, man. I had witnessed a somewhat same situation that happened to aTriz. He was also scammed by someone who gave fake tokens as collateral. Refer: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3038096.msg31956800#msg31956800

From now on, any collateral as token on my lending topic must need to be sent to an exchange of my choice.
Don't do that. And don't accept alts. The top 100 ones in coinmarketcap should do. And double check always, like marlboroza said.

I didn't know this can happen. That's an expensive lesson in handling Ethereum tokens! I've added some red to the scam-account too.

I can only see it as another reason to stay away from tokens created out of thin air.
Apparently they look the same, anybody who doesn't do much research can be scammed easily.
There should be a new sticky in the lending section about these fake collateral, just so that others aren't scammed in a similar manner.
833  Other / Meta / Re: [Security tips]Someone Just tried to reset my password on: July 30, 2018, 02:04:54 PM
People have tried to do that to my account as well, couple of times, I didn't bother much. The security of one's account in this forum is non-existent.

Anybody can try to reset your password. It doesn't mean that they have access to your password. And the IP location is definitely a VPN(I guess).

theymos should actually consider focusing some time on the security, cause I don't see the new forum coming around any soon or at all.

I could list a few to avoid hacks:

- Use email id to login instead of username. 90-95% of the accounts won't be hacked unless there is a loophole to it.

- Bring in 2FA(email or through apps like Google authenticator/Authy etc), of any sort. People won't necessarily lose their privacy.

I think these two should be more than enough for now, there are more things, but at least hope for these to be implemented.

PS: I know adding all this is complicated to SMF, but theymos has paid more than a million dollars to Slickage(the ones who are behind creating the new forum and also helped the merit system to be implemented),so I am sure they can take care of minor security flaws.  Roll Eyes
834  Other / Meta / Re: Is it worth it for now? on: July 30, 2018, 01:41:22 PM
Let me get this out ,thick and clear: You're trying too hard.

I believe everyone on here joined the forum for a purpose.
Yeah most of them to shitpost or to scam. You should be knowing that.

It is prevalent now how some of the members shitposters fret about issues relating to merits.
FTFY.

My inclination tells me this due to the idea of maximizing their earnings from bounty programs(signature to be specific). Getting merits is nowadays is a bit difficult than before due to several factors. Is it even worth it for now?
Your inclination? Cut the crap. People have been saying this since the dawn of signature campaigns. I don't how many millions of times hilariousandco has said it. So don't think that you have unveiled this myth.

My little advice for such people is to be patient and focus on the reason why you joined the platform. If you joined to share ideas and experience, make that the utmost priority. It could be trading, expanding your mental model on cryptocurrency, business, and even bounty hunting.
This is NOT a platform for bounty hunting. Its just a side privilege.

And for bounty hunters who are desperate about getting merits for the sole purpose of increasing their earnings, be content with your current position and focus and build your social media pages(with regards to increasing friends/followers). You can make content creation and translation campaigns your strongholds (some even pay off better than the signature campaigns).
This is one of the worst advises. Those social media followers are fake. Stop giving people the wrong idea of this forum and how to shitpost more.

Lastly, remember the concept of merit can be related to real-life occurrence. It is not appropriate to do something good and expect a reward in return. Stick to this rule and you wouldn't fret about merits again.
My head hurts by reading this. People are comparing real life to something that is literally made of thin air and appeared overnight.

You are trying to be the wannabe tryhard of The Pharmacist, using big words and giving life lessons and what not. Please don't post in meta. Its not your cup of tea.
835  Other / Meta / Re: Sponsoring a political article, and where to host it. on: July 30, 2018, 01:19:08 PM
I've quite enjoyed working on the Nicaraguan post, and that will appear on the political board in a day or two. It's length is knocking on the limit for a thread post in my opinion, and this led me to think of another idea for future projects.  The danger is that some dick head will quote the whole post, and another one will quote him. Also, there are no images included in the post. So how can we expand the size of the article and include it in a post for discussion?

I can host the page on one of my servers, but, as the article will be the idea of another Bitcoin Talk member, it might be better if it was kept in Bitcoin Talk. Is there somewher here where the page can be loaded, and then linked to in the opening post of a thread?
Don't worry on the dickhead/s. FH takes good care of the board and has even made a sticky about it. Politics and Society would be the best place since it has a political background.

That's a good idea, and it is one of the things i considered. The main difficulty is that you can't format the page to improve legibility. Attempting to format a post actually reduces its legibility in most cases imho.
Use another platform to write, I don't know why you can't just use the forum. Whatever be the reason, link the article down, quote the entire article, and explain the entire article in your words briefly and bold the main points. I see Hydrogen doing this a lot in the main sections(Bitcoin Discussion, Economics et al).
836  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US Military ‘prepared’ and may strike Iran next month – reports on: July 30, 2018, 10:40:42 AM
I think that a lot of Americans think that an invasion of Iran would be similar to Iraq because their names are just one letter apart. But in reality, Iran has a vastly larger economy. Conquering large amounts of territory could only be successful (maybe) if the US entered near-total-war mode, which isn't going to happen. Iran can't do much about airstrikes, though.

Iran's economic and recent social upheavel are not being widely reported. There could be a serious independence movement there similar to #brexit, the arab spring, catalan independence and similar trends.

I guess that's what the US is hoping for, but I've heard that despite economic conditions, Iran does not suffer from severe social unrest yet.
In reality, not only are there huge number of Iranians but their currency is so devalued, everyone wants to move out of there, and they are slowly doing so. Most of them are moving to the Middle Eastern countries like Saudi, UAE, Bahrain, Oman,Qatar. The Iranians are nice people in general, and they are very patriotic from what I have heard. They don't care much about money and them crumbling isn't gonna happen soon, the thing is that most of the Iranians run small businesses. They can only survive on that and nothing else. Little part of me tells that the US is the reason why Iranians are facing this terrible fate and right now, something miraculous needs to happen. Their patriotism isn't gonna change anything if they do nothing.

Iran's economy is currently collapsing and in crisis similar to venezuela and other nations. I doubt there will be a war. The USA can do nothing and iran will likely crumble on its own.ecently cancelled that deal. That is where the recent conflict between iran and the USA comes from.
I hardly think so. If US has a motive that goes against the likes of Iran, you can definitely see a war. And US aren't focusing on Iran right now because of the Kim Jong Un's latest change of plans.
837  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk site overview must be changed and basic tutorial must be added? on: July 30, 2018, 07:12:34 AM
There is a tutorial, it's on the top bar of the forum : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=help and its clearly written as help. A little due diligence won't hurt.
838  Other / Meta / Re: Need explanation from moderator who deleted my post (2) 4 days ago on: July 27, 2018, 11:43:28 PM
Been (and kind of still am) a bit ill over the past few days so haven't had the energy to answer PMs.

Since my memory is shaky when it comes to most moderated content and there are several active global mods moderating the forum, I can neither confirm or deny I deleted the post. I did go through the report logs and while someone did report your post (and it's marked as handled), it seems like not only your post, but the entire thread was deleted alongside it. Not sure how post notifications work when a thread is deleted instead of trashed but maybe it's sent out on thread deletion (=/= thread trashing) as well. The thread you're linking to is a newer one.

Also, seems like whoever handled the report, marked a duplicate report from a user as valid, which makes me believe I wasn't the one who deleted it (I use a script that highlights duplicates).
I just have one question: Had the thread not been crashed, and someone had reported marlboroza's post, would it be deleted? Is it considered to be off-topic or not?
Warning users that a project is a scam is not off-topic. Posting the same thing to several threads might be considered multi-posting / duplicate posting (especially if the threads said duplicate posts were posted in are about the same project).
Thanks. That's all I needed to know. Sorry everyone, my bad, I was wrong here.  Cry
839  Other / Meta / Re: Thank You Bitcointalk ! on: July 27, 2018, 11:21:53 PM
There are only a handful of members that care and actually are willing to do something for bitcointalk and asking for nothing in return. There's still a long way to go, the new forum is yet to be live, a lot of new things are expected, this forum can be a much better place, only theymos and Cyrus can do something. I want this place to be much better, not a scam and spam junction. I have been noticing that things are becoming boring in almost all sections, the same things are repeated. I don't know what is going on, but I still want to thank all those who are helping, irrelevant of the rank, position, reputation. I just want things to get a little more interesting here.
