841  Other / Meta / Re: Need explanation from moderator who deleted my post (2) 4 days ago on: July 27, 2018, 10:58:17 PM
You are not in a position to threatening people with negative trust, in a way you are trying to moderate the scam while the forum does not moderate scams.
So DT members should just let idiots advertise for scammy ICOs?

You are not in a position to threatening people with negative trust, in a way you are trying to moderate the scam while the forum does not moderate scams. what you could do however would be to tag their ANN account/bounty manager so that bounty participants see the tag and start investigating further.
The rule , The forum doesn't moderate scams is implied only when someone reports or asks mods to Ban a user or delete a scam thread, which mods don't do. Pretty sure that isn't the case here.

@marlboroza, Welsh is also a moderator of that board, you can PM him to have your answer.
842  Economy / Exchanges / Re: how long to get support from Poloniex exchange? on: July 27, 2018, 10:53:02 PM
I waited six weeks for some issue once upon a time. After that I decided my business was better taken elsewhere.

Considering who now owns them it's pretty disgusting how shonky they still are. It's been several months now and there's all this legacy account freezing bullshit and support still sounds pathetic. There's not even a bubble any more.

I expected it to be a shining example to every other exchange by now.

Looks like someone else might be holding them to account now - https://cointelegraph.com/news/us-delaware-doj-reaches-out-to-poloniex-crypto-exchange-users-if-they-have-an-issue
Poloniex fucked up, big time. I am surprised the US DoJ even did something here. There are so many people who want to file a class action lawsuit against poloniex for stealing their funds. At some point, I started to think that all exchanges are just online version of banks, which they are, hope is lost. I hardly exchanges now, including binance.

Some people waited 3 months and got an answer, but that's no good. I expected polo to have more support staff once, Circle acquired it, but that only made things worse. OP, did you hear back or not?
843  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Seeking Feedback On Idea (Crypto Newsletter) on: July 27, 2018, 10:41:30 PM
I've lately been toying around with the idea of a crypto newsletter, perhaps daily or weekly. Maybe just news is covered, OG or reposted content, reviews, etc. Not really sure yet, just an idea.

Do people subscribe to this kind of thing? I saw https://www.tokendaily.co/ getting some recognition on Twitter for being a top startup but besides them, I haven't really seen any other competitors in this space.
They do, but only when the website/person offering such is reputed out there. Some people hate the daily mail, while some don't. Some prefer to get weekly/monthly updates listing down the courses of action that took place in bitcoin world. There are tons of newsletters out there, which spread real and fake news.

So if you want your newsletter to be a success, then you have to provide top tier content, make news simple, because most of the people who sign up for newsletters are the newbies,in search of what bitcoin/crypto is. Avoid using complicated language and don't use humor in such cases, people won't understand it at all. Unless, you're basing your newsletter only on humor, then it can be something new and unique which could be worth a try.  Grin
844  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: A new way of Scamming on: July 27, 2018, 10:20:01 PM
Since its limited only to 5000 people and if all those knuckleheads send 0.005 ETH, that would make up 5000*0.005=25 ETH == ~12,000$, and each user would be giving 2.36$ away.

Better to stay away and not get yourself scammed like a doodoo. Seems very fishy.
845  Other / Meta / Re: Additional moderators still needed on: July 27, 2018, 02:30:47 PM
Mitchell was the moderator for the Project Devolopment section before, don't know if he still is bexause his name no longer shows up, I  would only have to assume he became a patroller.
846  Other / Meta / Re: Require a small amount of merit to become a Junior Member on: July 26, 2018, 11:57:58 PM
So people new to crypto should never rank up? Or wait for years until they become experts? Regular, average, normal people should rank up, not spammers. That's the point.

It's something that I see so much, how when people are on the top, they're basically like, "Who cares, I'm on top." Without even noticing that they're doing that. You're a Legendary member for no other reason that you've been here for many, many, many years. So your attitude is more of "Oh they can't rank up, oh well." Since you don't have to deal with it.

And I've also seen in so many other situations. "I have 15,000 Bitcoins because I mined it in 2009. How dare these people want to make money off of crypto instead of use it as a currency because the banking system is evil."

Very easy for a person with 15,000 Bitcoins to say when they don't have to worry about money. Not realizing that if they didn't have those 15,000 Bitcoins, they wouldn't be complaining that others are more concerned with making money than the a Utopian future without banks.
No. Its not like that. Anybody can rank up if they want to. I am no expert when it comes to bitcoin, I am far worse than a newb, but that is not the point to be focused on. Expert or no expert, you can still rank up, how? Use proper language, be a little unique and be relevant to the topic and make your post make sense. You have made good points on how legendary or other high ranked members don't care much on newbies ranking up. Its good that they don't, for, rank has nothing to do with you. I mean, I get that ranking up boosts your morale, but if you make good posts, you can rank up. At least normal understandable posts with some new information.

You can't expect to get merit for like agreeing with someone on some topic, or repeating what has been said before. I would have merited you for this post, but this has already been discussed in the past.
847  Other / Meta / Re: how much merit has been give to the merit source in a month ??? on: July 26, 2018, 11:17:40 PM
if some get the status of merit source once, that can be reverted if he has been caught for abusing his status Huh

If someone gets to becomes a merit source and he/she starts abusing his status as a merit source, he will be removed from being a merit source. It has happened in the past here, so that you are a merit source doesn't make you indispensable. The forum rules must be obeyed by all at all times.
No merit source has been removed for abuse yet. What's up with people spreading wrong info in meta? Man, go back to your shitposting section. Please.
848  Other / Meta / Re: Post Boosting on: July 26, 2018, 10:20:39 PM
Is it possible to check the IP's, browser details, etc... to identify his alts? Or we cannot use these kind of data to protect the forum? I'm just curious if someone logs in with dozen of accounts from the same machine, the forum system is unable to match them (not for the first time, but after a while at least...)
No mods can't do that. Only admins can. Account farmers don't use the same IP, they use VPN/TOR.

And the forum can't see browser details, no website can, unless someone uses a website to hack into someone's PC.
849  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature Anti-Spam Campaign Managers on: July 26, 2018, 10:17:42 PM
Out of curiosity, has anyone on this list received any work, thanks to this list?

I saw Theymos mentioning that he got spammed by people looking to advertise through signature campaigns but so far I've not seen a single campaign being launched through this.
Let's see:

Since the list was up;

- Lauda has started managing 4 bounties.

- Loyce V has started managing 1 Signature campaign.

- notaek managed 2 signature campaigns.

- Woshib has started managing 2 bounties.

- yahoo62278 managed/is managing 4 signature campaigns(one of which was proven to be a scam later on) and a bounty.

I cannot fully determine how many people contacted these managers because of this list. Signature campaigns have become dry again, so I cannot tell what the problem here is. If someone has any suggestions to improve to this thread, please don't feel shy to tell.

I didn't add images in the OP,because they look really sloppy, even after modifications. Though the idea is good, it doesn't look good.

Not a stab at the list, just wondering how much effort I should put into my ANN thread (it's coming very soon) Cheesy.
Your ANN thread should be pretty freaking awesome, if you ask me. If anybody is making an ANN thread , make it look cool even if this forum isn't very artistic in nature. Don't base your ANN thread because of the list, do it because you like managing campaigns.

You can delete your own post. You don't need to ask someone to delete your own post.
Wow i did not knew that. When was this change done, I do not think it was the same from beginning.
It was always the same. Never changed.
851  Other / Meta / Re: how much merit has been give to the merit source in a month ??? on: July 26, 2018, 12:23:55 PM
Different merit sources have different sMerit limits, determined by theymos. And you or anyone else doesn't need(except for the relevant parties) to know how much merits these merit sources have, for idiots would start begging more, as if there already isn't.
852  Other / Meta / Re: Read the TOPIC and CONTENT before making replies. on: July 26, 2018, 12:17:05 PM
What's much worse to see is that when users, irrelevant of whatever rank, post illogical nonsense and people tend to believe it. As no one bothers to correct them, false news spreads like viral disease. I have been a victim of this on both sides, seen false news and spread (unintentionally) false news, some times stood corrected and the rest : A blank page.

And OP, stop apologizing to people for their mistakes, it's not like they will come and dox you, like they did in the past.  Roll Eyes

Better put Kim Jong Un's face rather than using a nuke bomb badge.(5000 reports)

And to have Trump's face for 300 reports, cuz' he stupid.

And the person who has more than 10,000 reports to have a Putin face badge, cause Kill them all.

854  Other / Meta / Re: I want to ask about merit on: July 26, 2018, 12:41:24 AM
I do not really understand the rules of merit in this forum because there was no merit to raise rankings to members & full members.
job factors that hinder me don't care about the bitcointalk forum

how do i get merit to raise the rankings Huh?
Please Help me
You can get merit from someone only if you have sex with another HIGH RANKED MEMBER. Otherwise, you get nothing. You get extra merits if you're gay/lesbian. Wink
855  Other / Meta / Re: Seeking reporter badge images on: July 26, 2018, 12:35:28 AM
It's nothing special. Just says "nuke". Hey theymos can we have the nuke button as a mushroom cloud at the very least? Tongue
Eugh. So boring. Hey theymos, if you're hiring somebody, make their work seem less boring, as in normal buttons are lame af. Come on theymos, you can do better. Don't make it seem like people moderating on a forum, but rather make it seem like cool dudes coming to a forum and destroying the lives of shitposters.
856  Other / Meta / Re: Seeking reporter badge images on: July 26, 2018, 12:04:46 AM
Hey, I had no clue that mods have a real nuke button for nuking idiotic bots. Not fair, yo mod, share that.
I like the nuke idea, although not all reporting leads to nuking and thus it may be slightly focused on one of the possible outcomes of reporting. I thought about a “fuck you” finger icon, laughed at the idea for a minute, and then saw it too offensive to be sustainable really.

I then went over to reviewing Greek Gods, to see if any would fit. Ares was the God of War, and by title seemed fit. Nevertheless, he is often described as a coward, often suffering some kind of humiliation, and was not really worshipped to a large extent in ancient Greece.

On the other hand, Zeus, his father seems a much better candidate. Zeus was the supreme God and ruled Mount Olympus. As such, he was revered by all and was described as a God who brought peace in a place of violence. He also maintained moral and justice and was also known as “Polieos” for overseeing the Polis (city).

His symbol is lightning, so either an icon with lightning in different colours could be used (i.e. yellow, orange, red) or an array of red lightning icons repeated from 1 to three times.

Note: My memory lags a bit on Greek Gods, so I has to check the facts on http://greekgodsandgoddesses.net/gods/zeus/.

This brings my PS2 memories back to life. Oh fucking kratos.

About the 'fuck you' badge, the most rude assholes in this forum should receive, it would be pretty dope if theymos implements it.
857  Other / Meta / Re: Copper Accounts on: July 25, 2018, 11:04:55 PM
Can we please have a rank after Legendary or some membership available only to Legendary Members for purchase. Its fucking boring, as there is no real perk. And keep the membership ranks at a lower price, people don't want to get broke. 10$ will make do.  Grin
858  Other / Meta / Re: Account as collateral - How it reflects the forum rule? on: July 25, 2018, 10:05:44 PM
Account are not accepted as collateral. Period.
So long as this forum allows free speech and has no rules against such, account sales, or accepting accounts as collateral is allowed. What the community thinks is however different, and subjective.

I understand that part however my question was about the afterwards, precisely if they default... This become an alt of mine? Let's say I will not sale it since selling accounts are unofficially (I guess) prohibited.
Yes, they become an alt.
Example: Tavos was an alt of DarkStar_ back in 2016, and is no longer his alt, as the account was sold.

In sent feedback.
859  Other / Meta / Re: Temporary ban, permaban, nuke, what are reasons? on: July 25, 2018, 09:55:59 PM
What is considered as doxing here?
Everyone is posting their facebook accounts in altccly oin section. Is it doxing if someone post that information and all personal information from facebook? I mean, they are basically doxing themselves.  Undecided
Yeah they are posting their own info, so that cannot be considered as doxing. And sharing facebook links != doxing. If another user, posts any information like names, addresses, email etc which may or may not be available publicly, thus revealing the true identity of a user is considered to be doxing.

Alia was banned because of that.

I have a question for mods: People who come here to sell illegal stuff here, be it pirated content or be it drugs, will they be perma banned?

Also, I believe the forum functions on the basis of US law right?
860  Other / Meta / Re: Temporary ban, permaban, nuke, what are reasons? on: July 25, 2018, 09:14:39 PM
Perma banned: Breaking rules even after being temp banned, plagiarism, doxing people outside investigations board, and spreading phishing links, in some cases incentivizing people to post.

Temp ban: Relentless Spamming, breaking rules continously even after being warned.

Nuke: Only applied to newbies, when they break rules.

Reasons to delete ANN thread: Incentivizing people to post.
Is it up to the Mods when and who to ban or they follow some rules??
Yes. Mods decide whether or not the user deserves a ban or not. Not all shitposters(with rank above Jr. Member) get banned. But users caught plagiarizing are perma banned.
Can you see someone's history in terms of rule-breaking, like passed temporary bans and deleted messages?
I believe at least global mods can(?)
