841  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Can you build your own machine using same processors as S9? on: January 02, 2018, 07:57:17 PM
You got a full reel of those, by any chance?

Also, what is the topmark there?  Looks like no logo, different from the machine pulls

These are BM1385E+ chips, older tech. I was just using them to show that you can actually purchase small batches of chips from Bitmain for repairs.

Try asking in the section that deals with GPUs. I promise you will get a better answer than using the wrong part of the forum.
843  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Can you build your own machine using same processors as S9? on: January 02, 2018, 07:43:21 PM
Buying the chips themselves is not a problem - they flat out ARE NOT AVAILABLE PERIOD unless you disassemble an existing S9 to get them (or R4 or T9).

As has been mentioned more than once already, BITMAIN DOES NOT SELL THEIR CHIPS.
 PERIOD.
 NOT AN OPTION.

If you see BM1387 chips for sale, they are either "pulls" or they are FAKE.

Since Bitmain doesn't sell the BM1387, they don't see any point in making specs and pinouts and such information available.

Although it is not something they offer to every customer you can buy the s9 chips from Bitmain in small batches (and at a full retail price). They come in little rolls like this:

Yes those are s7 chips, it is just for reference.
844  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 status page questions on: January 02, 2018, 07:28:42 PM
1. Unless you are seeing tens of thousands of errors on one board over the other there is nothing to worry about. All boards accrue hw errors while running.

2. 3 is intake normally as long as they were not plugged in backwards.

3. The newest firmware i have seen is from November of this year. The latest firmware publicly available on their site is from May of 2017.
845  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Ebang Announces E9++, E10, and E10.1 on: January 02, 2018, 06:06:51 PM
I can assure you, Bitmain does not allow large customers (at least not from the US) to have access or knowledge of preorders before everyone else. We do a lot of business through Bitmain, but have never been able to get special treatment. If you have info that says otherwise, please let me know - I'd love to get special treatment  Wink

You might not be spending as much as you think if thats the case.
846  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hacking Bitmain Antminers (S7 & S9) because man a lot of these break...... on: January 02, 2018, 05:31:20 PM
It's possible this was done by someone after the unit was shipped, but since I see this on a number of bad S9 boards I'm thinking it might be a out of the box problem. Interesting.

Can confirm it is an out of the box problem. I have disassembled dozens of s9s while breaking the warranty seal, meaning i'm the only one since the factory to look at the hash boards, and a large number have poorly seated heat sinks.

One other thing of note, to everyone saying to use an air compressor there is one warning nobody has mentioned. Air compressors can get condensation inside of the air storage tank, which is why they come with bleeder valves. Make sure that you spray something like a piece of wood down first so you can see if moisture is being sprayed out.

I use something like this on my compressors:

847  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: why is this not working on: January 02, 2018, 05:29:23 PM
The hardware you are trying to use is so old and slow that its not even worth running. Do pools even allow connections this slow to waste their bandwidth?
848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone using Ucoustic soundproof cabinet? on: January 02, 2018, 04:56:03 PM
You are trying to put asic miners into stanard server racks, of course it is not going to work properly these arent rack mount machines.

Also, these are industrial miners, they should be in an industrial setting where sound shouldnt matter.

Might want to read the dates on the thread before asking for 4 year old information

Any conversion will eat into your profits. The answer is to run a proper wallet and not be lazy about it.

Sounds like you need an HDMI dummy plug.

Oh the joys of mining on windows. Switch to linux and you wont have that problem. You will also have a much more stable miner.
854  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Affordable miners on: December 29, 2017, 04:27:14 PM
It takes money to make money. If you have super cheap electric you might be able to make an older miner work for a while but even a used s7 is going for $700-1000 these days.
855  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Starting mining operation on: December 29, 2017, 04:25:58 PM
Most of the calculators are fairly accurate but it will vary depending on the pool payout scheme.

I like this calculator because it does let you put in the PPS payout ratio to get more exact.

https://btc.com/tools/mini-mining-calculator

Also, you have to remember that 20 minutes after you look at a calculator the data is no longer valid. Profitability shifts all over the place all the time and attempting to forecast profits is a fools errand. At best you can make some very generic guesses. BTC might be 14.8k right now but tomorrow it could be 16.5k or 11.5k rendering all of those calculations completely pointless.
856  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 741 Connection refused and wont hash on: December 29, 2017, 04:19:44 PM
You will see that connection refused error when the miner isnt actually running and the status page is trying to query it. You have some other setting wrong, you just need to go back over everything and make sure you made no typos/mistakes.
857  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 480v 3 phase service. how to fully maximize efficiency on: December 29, 2017, 04:15:53 PM
You will need a transformer to step down from 480 to 208. From there you simply run 3 phase PDUs and balance the load accordingly.
858  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: U.S 110v PSU for Antminer S9 suggestions please on: December 29, 2017, 04:15:02 PM
Server PSUs will only output enough wattage if they are on 220. 110v gives them decreased funtionality.

If you are thinking of throwing that much money away on a PSU you may as well just pay to have a 220v breaker/socket setup. Then you only need to spend $100 for a PSU strong enough to run an S9.
859  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Those of you mining at home in the US. What is your main power setup? on: December 29, 2017, 04:12:56 PM
Don't buy any miner from Bitmain, when you pay $3000 for every S9 miner, they will manufacture 3 and mine with them, you think that mining Bitcoin is profitable? not for you, only for them because they are mining. emperor Wu is emperor of mining industry because of people like you.

The problem with forums is they let anyone with a keyboard post, even if what they say is 100% untrue.

The answer is yes you can run two miners on a 220v 20 amp breaker. A 14TH S9 pulls about 7 amps max so you are well within limits.
860  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Is it possible to bypass the AUC3 on: December 29, 2017, 04:10:35 PM
Two things,

First is show me a official dealer that has units in stock and I will buy them out!

Second they have pallet packages listed on Canna.io that does not come with an AUC in each box!

_______________________________________________________________________________ _____

I purchased my units from a Mine Operator who purchases mine kits in bulk from Canna and sells a few units from each order. The money and miners were a 1 to 1 exchange on both of my lots purchased from my non official dealer. I in fact just picked up another 40 units today I will snap you a photo of them in the back of the Jeep in the morning as we are traveling back home with them now.

In attempt to use official channels I purchased my first units from an official dealer for thanksgiving and they still have not shipped! We are a quarter the way to having our units purchased from my non official source paid for in just two weeks, so by the time my units arrive from the official dealer the ones from the non official dealer will have met ROI.

But all of this is not here nor their because I was not asking if they should have come with the units because I knew exactly why they did not have them. I had also read the thread on bypassing the AUC2 for the A6 units but some people stated that it only worked on the A6 so I figured I would ask the question directly about the AUC3 and A7 miner.

So if you are done ridding your soap box about what should or should be in the box, who I should purchase my units from and don't have anything to actively add to the original question please pass on replying to this thread.

Well I have about 900 spare AUC3's from my last Canaan order but if you are gonna be a dick they are not for sale.
