881  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: August 19, 2014, 06:30:19 PM
in Armory's datadir, delete the databases folder
Cores now only ~40 weeks behind, will the chain from core being more than half done affect anything if I do that and then start Armory or at this point should I just let core finish and then do that folder delete / run Armory ?

Let Core finish first.
Thx for the help, now 37 weeks behind so sometime later tonight or tomorrow it should finish and then I can do the folder thing. Will post back here though after that.

I did notice in the Armor folder there's three shortcuts.

(Online) & (Offline) I suspect star the respective clients, but the main shortcut. I assume that's just another "online" shortcut ?

Also, what can I expect to happen when I delete hat folder and run Armory, assuming no more "errors" come up ?
882  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: August 19, 2014, 06:05:27 PM
Well, I finally did it...

Three of my four B5 S3's are all steady at 477+ Gh/s with freq 237.5 with the fourth never seeming to go over 460, did find one x on that one but that's after a week of 237.5 so I just reset it without worry.

Anyway, as for what I finally did. I put one of the three "good" S3's on freq 250 and were now 15 mins in with no X's and ~500Gh/s.

If it runs well or at least an hr I will try 250 on the other two "good" ones doing ~477Gh/s

Is there a newly updated list of S3 winners yet ?

Not again received. A delay or something has gone wrong?
I received mine some time ago to my account. You should have yours soon if not already.

I dont understand stunna's edit part. What will he close again? So if I am already a participant beforehand will I get boot out of this sig camp?

Since there are around 100 senior members participating about half of them will be "fired" from the campaign the next two days. If you do not get a PM from me then you are good to go. Quality posters are safe.

Will have a list of the survivors in 2 days.
I asked for clarification on his yesterday. Everything I've mad since I started was on topic etc.

That said, how is it determined who stays or is it just everyone who hasn't "spammed" ?

I'd hate to think I'll get booted because your one slot oo short even though I haven't spammed.

Ty.

Ok, so I finally got the other laptop working that I wanted to turn in to an online system but am having something weird happen.

So I installed Core 0.9.1 with Armory 0.91.99.8

After both were done installing / not running I then click the Amory thing on the desktop (this is Vista 32bit BTW), and got this "error".

Quote
C:\Program Files\Armory\ArmoryQt.exe

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.

I thought this was because neither was launched after installing so I launched core which came up find, startted downloading the chain. So I then clicked the Armory thing on the desktop and go the same popup.

So... what did I do wrong here because I was told after installing both I can just start Armory and it will do its own files and torrent the core stuff at the same time or something.

Edit: I would add the only other thing on this system of a clean Vista install is MBAM. AFAIK, nothing about MBAM or the funky Vista security stuff if blocking it. As of this edit, the blockchain via core is still downloading. However, like I previously said, I was told I could install both core and armory then run armory which would initialize core but as I said, that didn't happen ;-/

Edit 2: Even updated Armory to 0.92.1 but same thing ;-/

Problem solved with kluges help, just finalizing some small stuff via PM but the system is up and running on the AF drive as of 15mins ago.

As much as I talk to s0br on a regular basis, he goes on sleep deprivation binges.  He's more than likely asleep, he's online, but not responding.

That being said, I have multiple things going with him presently and him being away for less than 24 hours is not a huge concern for me.  Stop spreading FUD amongst the thread as it's doing absolutely nothing.  If you don't feel comfortable, then bail.  There's no reason to throw him under the bus when it's not even been a full 24 hours... I was in contact with him a mere 12 hours ago, and I went to sleep and he was still up.  So logically, knowing that he hasn't slept in a few days -- The body probably shut him down.

Just chill.
I dont know the OP but I do the sleep thing myself, it's almost 4pm and I just woke up around 3:30pm.

I'd say if after 36hrs there's still no response, get concerned, nothing after 48, then leave.

Please Read
For next month it looks like we are going to cut anyone below Sr member from the campaign and then further limit the campaign down to the highest quality posters if needed. I will begin reviewing the quality of our higher ranked posters tomorrow and notify you if I've decided to cut you from the campaign.
I'd like to think most of my posts are on topic and not just junk. For curiosity sake, how will you determine whats high quality if you cull Sr members such as myself ?

Unlike some, I don't count my posts here.

this is not newegg's fault. the solution is simple as pointed out in this thread. also, you could have downloaded an OEM version of vista instead of buying a disc.
Well, it seems the solution that might work best for me is a torrent which I am talking about in PM's with kluge. I tried the driver thing and it seems I can't run driver exe's from the USB boot prompt.

Here's hoping I can get this damn system up with kluge's help.

Yeah - if you can load the drivers before installation, you're fine. I go off on a tangent easily. Embarrassed Cheesy

If you can't convert your Vista installation discs to a USB version (where you can replace the driver with newer version, though I'd assume you'd be just as fine simply deleting the faulty driver), you'd need to put the updated Intel driver on a floppy disk (I'm going by Intel's info, here, which seems wrong -- you can't load drivers from a USB key if you load the Win setup from a CD?). Since I don't even know anyone with a floppy disk, anymore, your options, I'd guess, would be trying to put the Toshiba-modified CDs onto a USB key using the Windows CD/USB tool or downloading a "clean" version of Vista from a .torrent site.
This is what I was thinking it would work... assuming the exe will run from the dos that comes up on the USB boot.

1) Install / run recovery software.
2) Reboot the system but dont let it goto full boot where the initializing firs time thing comes up. Otherwise the recovery discs have to be run all over again.
3) Hit F12 to get boot menu, select USB boot drive.
4) Once prompt is up, run the drivers exe file.
5) Pray it worked, reset system and this time let it goto full boot / to the initializing for the first time thing.

FWIW, can you try and locate a clean torrent for me with instructions on how to use it from my USB boot drive please ?

This way I have that if I need to use it.

Ty.

OP - you are using an unmodified Vista CD to install, yeah?
Recovery discs from toshiba that would have otherwise shipped with the laptop when it was new.

Like I said in the main post, it does the initializing for the first time thing then it gives that "error" about hardware and everything I looked up points the cause to the drive being Advanced Format.
Sorry - made a late edit. You might want to try downloading a .torrent of Vista if you have a fast connection. "Normal" Vista shouldn't have the bad driver on it.
Well, the key is still on the bottom of the laptop. But FWIW, isn't there a way I can still use the recovery discs ? I paid $30 for them, and since the AHCI thing is out of the question. The driver thing should work if I can just figure out how to do it properly.

I have a USB boot drive I can use if needed.

Not against torrents, just always end up with infected ones.

So... if I can use the toshiba discs with whatever drivers I need to install using the proper method to do so then I should be G2G with everything.

There's no reason why that HD shouldn't work. Do a clean format on the drive, don't add any partitions to it (even if blank), set BIOS to boot from HD first, change IDE to SATA, install windows.
That's just it, it's a locked BIOS so I need an unlocked BIOS to set ACHI / IDE... otherwise I have to do some driver shit I keep failing on. I think I failed though because I didnt use a USB boot to install drivers when I was trying to do load drivers from the recovery media.

Edit: When I try to boot from a freshly formated drive it says bootmgr missing ctrl+alt+delete to restart.
